Hi, This is my first post so please bare with me....
I am goin thru with my first ivf attempt scheduled for october 28 , im very excited but my nerves are setting in as well. I am currently waiting for af to show ( never thought id b wishin for the witch..lol) to get things moving . I am suppose to start taking bc pills next cycle the finaly start ivf procedure. I have a question for ye ladies my doc called n said when i start the bc he will send me a scipt for z pak .. Iwas wondering why I would need to take it ( of course im gunna just curious y ).
Any advise on the whole procedure would be great. Thanks so much

Sky7371-Welcome. I am so happy you found us. You have come to the right place. On this board you will find alot of support from ladies who have either been where you are or are going through the same situation right now. I suggest you go back and read some of the older posts so you can become familiar with your nre friends. There is also alot of information that has already been shared in precious posts that mat be beneficial to you. I look forward to getting to k ow you better. So to answer your question, antibiotics are routinely ordered for both the woman and the man in every IVF cycle attempt. The doctor wants to reduce the chances of spreading any diseases when the couple is having intercourse. In addition, the doctor will typically order additional antibiotics for the woman a's it gets closer to either ER or ET depending in if your doing a fresh cycle or a frozen cycle. Steroid medications can also be ordered with every cycle to reduce swelling and increase chances of rejection during transfer. You may also be ordered Valium to help your uterus to relax and not spasm during embryo transfer. Hope this information helps.

I just wanted to say that when I started my IVf journey in 2008 I was also totally addicted to this board. My DH said that I was having an affair with it.....I did nothing but eat, sleep, work and get on here at night. It was my savior through the entire procedure and after. I wish you all the best in the journey ahead and remember that holding that baby in your arms makes these days seem all worth it. We look to me on the same schedule...I am waiting for Af and transfer is scheduled for Oct 28th

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time on an IVF blog. Today i got my 4th negative pregnancy test back after IVF. It was the second time we did an egg retrieve. 9 eggs where collected, 3 turned in to embryo's who where transferred exactly 12 days ago into my womb. And they where not there to stay.. Every time the sadness hits me hard and it feels like i "failed" the little ones and that i was not able to create a save comfortable place for them where they could grow into little baby's...

I am 27 and my husband is turning 34 in one week! I love him very much and i am very proud how he is handling the whole roller coaster that is called IVF. 1.5 years ago i found out that both my fallopian tubes where damaged by a very big infection that i have had as a 5 year old. After a big surgery in january 2010 we know that there was nothing else to try then IVF. It took another year before we did our first cycle. 11 eggs where retrieved and 6 embryo's where created. We returned them 2 by 2 in january, march and may. Then we took a break for a love-trip to paris! So nice to NOT be busy with getting pregnant for a little while.

Last month we started again, full of hope and power. I know in my heart that we will be ok. But MAN i really find i devastating to get a negative test result back after all the investment. I was very soar after the egg retrieval for a couple of days and to know that i need to go through that again.. sigh.. I also find it very difficult to combine the procedure with my "other" life, my goals, my wishes and dreams. I am feeling so young but so out of ignorant at the same time..

Today is a hard day, but that is ok,

Jasmin-oh honey, I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. This whole process can be so cruel at times. And your right, it definantely is a rollercoaster. I started the Fall Board a little under a month ago after getting my very first BFP with IVF with a super Beta and then had a MC at 4 1/2 weeks. I felt so absolutely devastated. I thought getting a BFN which I had experienced in the past was terrible but then to feel like finally all of the hard work had paid off to only loose everything so soon was heart wrenching. This whole process is so difficult but the ladies on this board are wonderful. They all know where you have been. They are such a great support. Unlike any other. So please know that we are here for you and this will happen for you. I have a feeling that this Fall is going to be filled with many miracles. Just don't give up on this dream. Just look at one of the other boards tha has the success stories of others in our same situation who are now expecting or have already had their little miracle/s. Reading those stories always gives me hope. I welcome you again and please know that we are all here for you. I will update the Fall Roll Call Later and add you to it. Sending you much love.

Jasmin - I am so sorry to hear about everything you have gone through on this journey. I have not done a cycle of IVF yet, but I can only imagine how disappointing it must be get that BFN each time. Just don't give up. It will happen for you!

Sunshine - That's crazy about CVS mixing up your meds. Believe it or not, I use CVS as well and that has happened to me a couple of times over the years. I keep saying I'm going to switch pharmacies, but I never do. Good luck on your new pre-natal vitamins.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend. Here in the Florida panhandle we are supposed to get 12-15" of rain on Sunday and Monday so I will probably be indoors. LOL.
I wanted to let you all know that my RE's office called me yesterday and has gotten my consult moved up from 10/3 to 9/14!! YAY!! That means I should be good to go for the October IVF cycle according to the lady I talked to in his office!! WOO HOO!!

Hi all!!

I hope that everyone is doing well and trying to get as much rest as possible over the next couple of weeks. Once you get your BFP, it will be go, go, go. I'm really happy to see that so many people that I have cycled with in the past are getting positive results lately. It gives me so much hope!

Jasmin- Welcome to the board and I am sorry for your frustration. I certainly know the drill after several BFN's. However, its all a numbers game and your time is getting close. Having others going through the same thing certainly makes it easier. However, this is the last time that you will have to face the frustration. The fall cycle is going to be extremely lucky and we are all going to come out with happy outcomes.

WeHaveHope - thanks for maintaining the Roll Call and being so diligent in getting everyone's information. I know that its a tough job to stay on top of everything. Very much appreciated! One thing I did want to mention about the PIO - it always helped me to warm it for a bit before injecting. I would fill the syringe and then placed it in my bra for about 20 minutes. OK, maybe a bit silly but it helped! I wasnt sure how else to warm it and it made the oil flow easier. Never had a problem with bumps or bruises that can occur.

AFM I don't have my resume appointment with my RE until Sept 26, but I went in for all of my bloodwork and pre-iVF labs. My AMH went up since last time from 1.3 to 2.9. They said it was good and still in the normal range, but anyone else ever hear of this or experience it themselves? I wonder if I am becoming PCOS or it is a result of my weight loss? Anyway, I hope its a predictor of good things!!
