I chickened out on the dessert! Even DH is reluctant. May wait til 12 weeks. Hope others enjoyed their dessert.
Gem you shouldn't have bought the scales! You will be obsessed now.
I am a little worried. I am feeling extremely tired. I don't just mean going to bed early. I am up for 3-4 hours and then need to have an hours nap. I usually need a nap twice a day. Surely this isn't normal. I feel totally drained and nothing helps but sleep. I had today off work today because I can't make it through the day. Tracey, is this normal for twins or do you think I could be deficient in something. Was very nauseaus this morning too which doesn't help. I feel like a lazy whale. I am 8 weeks today. On the scales I haven't put weight on but 3 pairs of trousers don't fit round my belly! Isn't it a bit early to be getting a belly (I'm not thin to start with either), or again is this because it is twins.
I thought being pregnant I would feel on top of the world. How wrong was I. Don't get me wrong the fact I am pregnant makes Dh and I extremely happy. I just didn't expect to feel so drained.
Amyway rant over. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Oh Shellie, I remember all of those feelings. I can remember sobbing for hours in the bath because I was so miserable at feeling so exhausted when I should have been enjoying my longed-for pregnancy.
The tiredness sounds very similar to what I went through. I'm an infant teacher and someone had to take my class for an hour at least once a day at that stage so that I could have a kip! I started to show at 11 weeks and moved into elasticated waisted trousers at about 8 weeks.
I have to say that pregnancy (or at least a twin pregnancy) didn't suit me and I didn't like the feeling of not being in control of my body. I suffered from tiredness almost throughout my pregnancy and found that quite hard emotionally. BUT the end result more than makes up for 9 months of discomfort so you just have to keep on looking forward.
All the best.
Jules

Hi Shellie and Jules,
I can relate very well to the tiredness stories. During this twin pregnancy (am 25 weeks now) I've had several periods in which I've been so tired I felt kind of desperate and wondered if it was all normal! I guess it is! I am also quite tired now, have been since 21 weeks, despite the fact that others seem to have more energy. I am still going to work but even sitting at my desk is an uphill struggle. So I guess like IVF itself it just goes differently for all of us.
Jules I am so releived that you say pregnancy did not make you feel great, I feel the same and feel almost guilty as we go through so mcuh to achieve one one feels almost obliged to enjoy it. I've been feeling guilty that I don't enjoy it very much, what with the tiredness, lack of decent sleep, heartburn, heaviness, problems with my veins and the general paranoia that something might go wrong. In fact sometimes I feel like screaming when people tell me to enjoy it, it's almost as if it is my own fault when I don't. But as you say, the end result should compensate for everything and I do hope that like you I will have a happy and healthy pair of twins at the end of it.
Shelley, maybe we should start the tired, grumpy pregnancy thread what do you think?

Don't worry about the weight but if so try and eat some snacky things that are healthy - carrot sticks, apricots etc. Throw the flaming scales in the cupboard where Caz's doppler thingy is!
Shelly - Jules and Juliana summed it up - I was flaming exhausted for the first 12 weeks - if I had been working in recruitment like before I would not have managed as was 60 hour weeks! The fact is after Oliver died I took time out and then set up from home and have done sod all since! So no money but also no travellling and can sleep when I want. I found things improved by 13 weeks for me and then I was tired but could manage days without sleeping in the middle etc. This continued to around 24 weeks when got tired again and now very tired as not sleeping. Was in pg clothes very early as had them anyway and the most comfortable - my maternity jeans etc - which no longer fit! A lot of it is the extra space of the uterus and generally the progesterone etc being produce. Worry not!
Juliana and Jules - I feel for you I really do - I have been very lucky and know so and have not had the problems you seemed to - if I have them just tend to shrug them off but have not been anything serious or debilitating like yours were. Still walking the dog though all a strain now and sometimes I could cry with the breathlessness and indegestion and pain but at nearly 34 wks have nothing to complain about.
Shelly you could be lucky!
Take care all of you

Thanks Jules, Julianna and Tracey. At least I feel a bit better knowing I am not the only one feeling this way. Am off work again today but will need to get back tomorrow before they give me the sack! Seriously considering leaving work as soon as I can. I'm scared that if i push myself to do full days I might harm the babies. It takes me an hour each way travelling to work and then usually around 9 hour days. When I do get home I go straight to bed. Can't be good. If I thought we could affod it I'd give up now but I guess having twins isn't cheap. We do not have family near us to hand things down either so everything will be new. How soon can you finish work and still be elegible for maternity leave?
Oh maybe I am jumping the gun, in 4 weeks I will make it to 12 weeks and I will miraculously have more energy!! Here's hoping.
Hi Christina, How are things going? I was wondering why they told you that you were 7 weeks, when I am 8 weeks. Is your expected due date 6th Feb? I thought we would have the same dates because of same EC and ET.
Time for another nap.

think it was 29 weeks for me, that was the earliest I could leave to trigger maternity pay.
Is it worth seeing your Dr and asking for a sick note for a couple of weeks to see how you feel after a rest and the opportunity to get some sleep when you need it? Does your workplace have a room for expectant mothers? under the Working time regulations it should have and you could go and lie in there for an hour or so.
Take care

Thanks for helping me out on that one Lisa - some companies are slightly different aren't they?

Thanks for the info girls. Not sure about the expectant mother room. Will need to check into that. I have filled in my forms to see the midwife, hopefully I will here from her this week and I'll ask her opinion. Taking a couple of weeks off may help but I feel really guilty because I took the 2ww wait off work. I don't think they will be very happy. I just want whats best for my babies. I'll see how I go at work tomorrow.
Thanks again for all the replies.

I left work at 29 weeks which was the earliest paid leave in our company. I get quite a good deal, 18 weeks at full pay, then 8 at half pay, then i'm taking a few weeks unpaid after that to see me through to next year.
I am positive that leaving work early has helped my babies stay put (33 weeks now) rather than early mornings, stress and triedness. Being at home all the time is great and i am savouring it, because in a few weeks i will have my hands full! My babies are my priority, work is not (although we need the money, i'd rather have healthy babes)

Hi Shellie, just to say that I am 8 weeks tomorrow. Maybe mine embedded later than yours. I know that we are going through everything the same except your having twins. I feel for you all with this tiredness, I know how you feel , however I am lucky as I do not have to work. I am enjoying being pregnant just like you all, but having a few headaches & very very tired also.
Going to the nurse on Thursday to get registered for antenatal clinic etc. I am glad to be finished with the pessaries, less bloatedness, however even at this early stage some clothes don't fit round the waist, so have started to wear whatever I am comfortable in.
Well off to watch BB now, can't stand Jason!!!

Christina Proud Mum Of Bradley after successful 1st IVF.
Christina - well done you! Keep drinking loads - it helps with the headaches honestly
Shellie - I know you feel guilty but the world of work won't stop turning you know - take the two weeks off - they can do diddly squat and if you explain it I am sure they will be on your side. If they don't know bugger them just take it anyway - Helen is right - twins and you are the priority - not the wheels of commerce!
