I have a question to the board. since this is the first time I doing the antagonist protocol and using these meds, can someone tell me, on which day of stims do you start the Ganirelix? I have googled it and I found that is around the sixth day but I wanted to hear the personal experience from a cyber buddy.

I have done 3 antagonist cycles and my RE starts Ganirelix when the lead follie is 14 mm. This happened on day 4 or 5 of stims for me. The antagonist then slows down the follow growth quite a bit and I ended up stimming for a total of 8-10 days.

Anton... we will be riding out the 2ww together it looks like! I can't wait to hear how many embies you end up with! I would love to know more about the omnitrope as well. I googled some but didn't come up with alot regarding fertility. But then all other countries outside of US seem to be further ahead in medical advances...

I meant to tell everyone that when I was in the doctors office yesterday I saw this same couple that was there about 6 weeks ago during my last cycle. I could tell they were there for an IUI because they were holding the infamous sperm container. They were all smiles yesterday and I had to ask... she is 8 weeks pregnant! She is 37 and this was her 5th IUI. She said she finally had success this last cycle when they added the ganirelix to control when she ovulated. So hoping it works for me too! I go in for my next SnS on Thursdsay am.

AFM: not too much going on. I hurt my back on Sunday trying to shave in shower :(The doctor prescribed me valiums and hopefully it will helps relax my muscles so I can sleep. I'm just a hot mess so far this year that's for sure.

Crashing (sort of...I am on the 2 ww hanging with the girls on the Feb/March board). Haven't joined you ladies because I wasn't sure I could keep up with two threads, but I have been watching and cheering you on!

Anton- I started cetrotide (same type of drug) on only day three of stims because my follies took off like rockets. I guess it shuts down yout pituitary fsh and makes the cycle easier to control. I was afraid it meant I was going to trigger sooner and that worried me, but like Lou it slowed me right down and I stayed on schedule. I had 14 eggs, 9 mature, 6 fertilized, and 4 made it to Day 5. I transferred one blast, 2 morulae, and froze one morula. The antagonist protocol worked out about the same for me as my first long Lupron, and I would do it again because I like not having to suppress prior. Best of luck!!!

Margi- I faithfully listen to the Anji meditations every day and LOVE them. There are meditations for 4 IVF stages (pre-retrieval, post-retrieval, post-transfer, and post implantation). I figure it can't hurt...but mostly I love how relaxing it is. Stick babies stick!

Blissful: Thanks for the well wishes! I went ahead and ordered the Anji download and already listened to Track 3: Post transfer. I was so relaxed listening I fell straight asleep! Thanks!!! Looks like you are having and awesome cycle and that we are only 2 days apart!! (MY ER was 3/2 and transfer was 3/7) My beta is supposed to be on the 17th, but that would be day 15 and I doubt I can wait that long so I will likely go in on the 16th for my blood work...hope that you are resting well and not going "too insane" during the 2ww. Thanks for "popping in". And I plan to get my BFP right after you do!!

Margi- I was confused about when to start the post implantation meditation and finally settled on 3 days past transfer (today). I think that is perfect timing. Happy to kick us off with a BFP. I will POAS Sunday so I can celebrate with DH rather than find out alone at work. I'll be watching and will let you know!

Lou - I hope you had a good day. In Judaism, every year on the anniversary of a death, we light a 24 hours candle and leave it burning for the whole day. I'm sure your mom is watching over you and so excited about the grandbaby you are growing for her.

Anton- I've done an antagonist/Ganirelix (Orgalutran) cycle 3 times. Every time, I've started the ganirelix approximately day 5 of stims, but it depends on how big your follicles are. Worked for me! (I've gotten pregnant on every fresh cycle) Your optimism and positive attitude is amazing. I really hope this cycle brings you your baby.

Sunshine 1576 - how are you feeling? Do you have results from the lap surgery?

Margi - so.... 7dpo today means you are 3 weeks pregnant, right? You are exactly 2w1d behind me! Hopefully you'll stay that way for a long time! I've never used guided meditation tapes, but I have done guided meditation (with my therapist) and I really like it. Some people meditate more easily than others - and I fall into a trance-like state really easily. Makes me feel so good afterward. Maybe I should try some tapes. I know my MIL uses them. Have a good flight tomorrow!

Blair & Blissful - It can be hard to follow two boards - but I stalk y'all too! Good luck!

Carol - You can usually tell who the newly pregnant are at my clinic! The only time women bring their husbands is if it's their first day - or they are pregnant! The smiley, happy couples are a sure sign of good news! Also, I don't usually get pictures of my follies growing, so anyone walking around with an u/s picture is a good sign too. Hopefully, *we'll* be that couple tomorrow morning! DH is coming with me, and hopefully we have a great u/s and take a pic home with us!

Kat - WTF? This really REALLY isn't your year! You need to do something to change your luck. Break a mirror maybe? It can't get worse!

AFM - not much new. I'm suprisingly busy for being unemployed! DH had cavitites filled this morning and needed me to hold his hand. I'm home for a few minutes then I have therapy - then a job interview - then a lunch date -- busy! I'll probably need a nap this afternoon! Tomorrow is even MORE exciting! U/S at 730am! Then I have to testify for a friend at court (just that I know her and that she is divorced - long story!) and she will buy me brunch afterwards. Then a mani-pedi at noon and a voice lesson at 3pm! I'm so excited! Only 20 hours or so until my u/s. I'm so nervous and excited!

hi everyone I'm new on this I'm in Athens so think names of the injections are differnet I started my daronda injections on 21st day ov my period (12 days ago)I just started my period again so on the 3rd day I go for a blood test to check my homomes and a ultrasound to check everythin ok then should start the gonal pen injections?does that sound correct?lol
this is my 1st time trying ivf, i've tried 3 iuis with clomid and now moved on to ivf its my hubby with the problem bless him hes got a small mobilty prob... been ttc for 3 years,
I live in small place so got no-one to talk to about these things so glad I found you ladies so any info or tips you can share with me the better thank you

Hi everyone!

Sunshine-Than you for your kind words my friend! First of all, LH level has nothing to do with the quality of eggs! We check the LH level to make sure sure that we don't ovulate prior to ER. The Omnitrope I am taking is to improve the quality of eggs and its taken for the first 6-10 days of stiming. This is my first time taking this med so I don't know for sure what the outcome will be. Me RE uses this drug all the time and has seen results in women taking it. Even though I never had a problem with my eggs, my RE believes that women above 35 and women with previous failed cycles this med can do wonders. About DHEA, as far as I know this comes in the form of a pill and is not a procedure where the RE tests the eggs prior to implantation. The procedure that is used to investigate chromosomal abnormalities in IVF embryos is called PGS and PGD. This is a very expensive test and it can lower the chances of pregnancy do to embryo manipulation during testing. My RE uses this method/procedure ONLY in the cases where there is a history in the family of a decease. Omnitrope is supposed to improve the quality of eggs and if it wasn't so expensive my doctor would advce to be taken for 10 days. AFM- I went this morning for my u/s & it went great! Today is day 7 of stims and I have around 12 eggs with the leading one being 15 and smaller one 11. My endo is perfect and my RE was very pleased in general. They took me blood to run test for LH level again, TSH (I have hyporhyroid and we need to check) and progesterone level. My RE called me a while ago and told me to put NOW (2:30pm) the Orgalutran (Ganirelix 0,5ml) and tonight between 9 -10pm another 225 I.U of Folistim. Its time for the late show to start! He told me to go in tomorrow morning at 8:50 for u/s and we are doing the ER either Saturday 03/12 or Monday 03/14! It depends on the u/s tomorrow. My TSH was 6.4 which is higher than the maximum level of 5.5 and he will tel me tomorrow what we do about it...I have Hypothyroid and last time I checked it in Sept before my 4th IVF it was 1.67. But, in general things are very good! I am SO happy and excited! I will keep you posted for my u/s tomorrow Things are looking good girls!

Sweetpea-- Sorry about your back! I have two herniated discs I've been dealing with for the past few years so I understand what you are going through. When I first injured it, I couldn't even walk! I ended up getting a series of steroid epidural injections. That helped a lot. I know! I'll be 9 weeks on Friday. It hasn't gone by so fast for me though. I guess because I'm still so worried about losing it like I did last time. I can't wait til I'm out of the first trimester.

Margi -- Have a nice safe flight home!

Leora -- What a nice tradition! Lighting a candle on the anniversary of a loved ones passing. I think it helps to acknowledge the date and remember. I did a lot of that yesterday. Your u/s is just around the corner! I can't wait.

But I didn't want to wait too long before seeing my OB and RE agrees. I'm going to the Bon Jovi concert tonight with DH so my appt update will come tomorrow.

Thank you Anton for shedding some light on Omnitrope. I'm still kinda new to all that's out there with all the procedures, I'd whether try the med over any "testing procedure" anyday, so this might be worth mentioning to our RE. With our past visits, an IVF is ALL he really wanted to try with us. I suggested the IUI, and he was concerned about DH sperm anaylsis, then with a vitamin regimen 6 months later, DH's s/a improved. Next my doctor thought maybe I have endo, but laproscopic surgery was last Friday, with no findings. We now are considered "unexplained infertility" but I'm wanting to try anything to improve the eggs. They've reassured me with labwork that the reserve supply is good, but like to look at the quality and you've given us something to consider. Consultation is in 2 weeks, right before next cycle starts.
Keep up that PMA (and for everyone cycling this month) grow follicles grow!

Kynlee – I go in for final US & blood work on Friday, praying all is OK & I will be PUPO before you know it! Then we can all lay around & be PUPO together, for me I seem to get preggers OK but keeping it is my problem so the first 2ww doesn’t scare me it is the second one that terrifies me then each week after that! I have been praying every day & meditating & willing my body to keep this one to the end!

Margi – YOU ARE MY HERO! 5!!! WOW! I am scared when they put in two! CONGRATULATIONS! This RE seems to be a miracle worker & you will get your BFP before you know it!

Tiger – How are you? Did you make any head way with your RE’s office, can you ask for a specific nurse you like each visit? I hope you got something worked out this process is hard enough without having awful care too.

Lauren1171 –I hope your pup is OK, when we fixed our boy he was like no big deal but when we fixed our girl it was awful she was sick & swollen & miserable, I think it is just tougher on their little bodies than on the boys….how is she doing today?? Did the surgery go OK last night? I am so worried about her, I love my furbabies & hate when they are in pain 

Kerri_789 – My understanding of BCP’s is so that the RE’s can get you on their schedule it doesn’t have anything to do with the cycle or making better eggs….Welcome Back!!!!

AFM…..well let’s see, we are dealing with 2 year molars growing in which has made us all miserable poor little bug is up all hours of the night with her fingers shoved in her mouth, now I think she is addicted to Tylenol since she asks for it by name but she is in pain & miserable so I guess that is OK for the time being. We were trying to wean her from the bottle but the timing is just too much right now. I had a ovulation scare thought I ovulated won’t know for sure til Friday but if I did another cancelled cycle for me…….
Can’t hardly wait til next Wednesday when I am PUPO again! Have a great “Hump” day ladies & baby dust to y’all! (Yep I am married to a Southerner!)
