Hi girls- I had a slight scare last night. I couldn't find the baby's hb with the doppler. I was so upset. I tried for 10 minutes then took a break then tried again later and it took me another 10 minutes. Not a good feeling. The baby was much higher than it has been I guess I didn't even think to try up higher!

Marina- You should have your dr check your thyroid if you are really losing a lot of hair. Sometimes that can cause hair to fall out quickly. I know hair is supposed to grow more quickly, so maybe you are just shedding to accomodate new growth. But I would definitely talk to the doc about it and have them check your thyroid levels just to be sure.

Hi girls, hope everyone is having a good weekend and staying warm. It's dreary here today. DH and I were going to see a movie later but I'm not even sure I want to leave the house! How's everyone doing? I'm feeling so much better these days and able to eat a bit more. I hope everyone else that was feeling the morning sickness is doing better.

Suzanne, did you see your OB yet? Just wondering how that was going. I think I'm scheduled to see a different doc in the practice each time I have a visit, which will make it hard to get to know my primary OB better. Oh well, I think it's a common thing to make sure you meet everyone so when you deliver there isn't a strange doc showing up.

On that note, is anyone using a midwife or doula? Just curious. Also, does anyone know about water births? I always thought this sounded more comforting but not sure our hospital offers it.

Rinnie, I've been doing lots of reading lately and learning lots! I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the decisions we will need to make though, and will be the first to admit that I'm terrible at making decisions, so I've got my work cut out in getting everything ready for the baby. You still feeling okay?

Lyly, sorry you had such a scare with the h/b. I didn't realize they could be moving around so much at this stage! I can't wait until I start to feel something. Until then, just trying to keep busy until my next OB appt, in a couple of weeks. When is your's?

lyly That's why I can't get one of those dopplers...too much to worry about already :) They're pretty tiny still, so that may be an issue too. Glad you found it!!

wonderce I'm a Libra so decision making is not my strong suit :) And I'm trying to think organic on a lot of fronts & green etc. so that brings up a whole other bunch of choices. I was looking at cloth diapers & those contraptions like bum genius & fuzzibuns where you just change out the pad so you're not throwing out a whole diaper and it ends up cheaper than disposables. A million different opinions, but i guess each child is different so you have to get a couple of each & try them out to see what works for you.
I'm also learning every mom I know has very strong opinions :D
As far as the Colace, I think 3 pills a day is the max dose.

Marina Haven't really noticed much difference with my hair or nails. My nails got really strong & grew faster with my Chinese herbs so they're about the same.
My skin does seem more delicate & sensitive though....I'm using all natural products now which help.

My night sickness is getting somewhat better in that it's less most nights, and starts later. Every once in awhile I'll still have a bad night, but seems to be going in the right direction.
Having another 3 wk u/s on Tues which I'm excited about...every 3 weeks is just toooooo long!
He was 5 days ahead in growth last time. Does anybody know if that means he'll be bigger, or if the due date does actually move up? It'll be interesting to see if it changes this time.

Rinnie, too funny that I'm a Libra too! My b-day is 10/2, when is your's? Yes, I guess indecisiveness is a common Libra trait. I was also looking into cloth diapers vs. disposables. The book I'm reading says they are both fairly environmentally equal since disposables fill up landfills and are only 40% biodegradable, but washing cloth diapers requires water and energy and leaves dirty water for city to clean. I still haven't made up my mind either way yet and will definitely check out the bum genius and fuzzibuns. Glad your night sickness is betting better. I didn't realize you were still having problems with it. :( Have fun at your u/s tomorrow! My little one is a bit ahead growth wise too. I'm not sure if that means they may come earlier or are measuring big. I'm curious to see if anyone else has some input.

Hi ladies! I have a quick question for you guys since you're a few weeks ahead of me. For those of you who have been weaned off your PIO, did your symptoms change or lessen once you were done with the shots? Can I expect to feel any different? I start weaning off the PIO and Vivelle patches tomorrow and start Crinone and one Prometrium. I will be done with the PIO and Vivelle next Tuesday and done with all meds in 2 weeks.

I think I read where someone said their symptoms waned a bit and I just want to be prepared and not freak out.

Thanks!!

Hey girls- Hope everyone is doing well in the cold weather (for those lucky enough to live somewhere warm- I envy you right now! lol). I am having a hard time with this cold weather. My asthma has been acting up and I ended up in the emergency room for about 6 hrs last night. I went to see my primary care doc today and he gave me different inhalers as well as all the meds I was given to take home from the ER. So now I am on so many meds, I hate it. I had the same problem when I was pg with my dd 10 yrs ago. I refused the meds and ended up admitted in the hospital for 5 days and then ended up with more problems form the high dose of IV steroids they gave me. I definitely don't want that to happen again. All I keep hearing is if I'm not breathing neither is the baby. So now I am trying to be good and take care of it before it gets bad.

Hello there!!!!
I haven't posted lately but have been following what you ladies have been writing. I had my first OB appt. back at home since my r/e released me. Very glad to report that all is going very good. But, it has been a killer waiting 3 weeks since my last visit to the r/e. You get used to going there every week and having an u/s done and getting all those updates and then their is a total shutdown during the transition.
I do have to say that my OB is wonderful. He did call me to say that he got the CVS results and then had me go to the lab to have blood work done. He called me last Thursday to say the blood work was all good and my progest. level was at 66. That was my biggest worry.
My last progest. shot that my husband gave me was on Dec 31 and I had this gloomy feeling that my number were just going to drop, drop, drop. My ob is very happy with the 66 number and doesn't feel that I will need any more progest.
Today both babies measured at 15W2D, so both are right where they should be and h/b's are good.
He wants to see me every 2 weeks now and I go in for the detailed u/s every 3 weeks because they are twins.
My normal due date would be July 11th but due to twins, he thinks it may be 3 weeks earlier. He also said that if both heads are in the down position during labor, he would give me option of natural childbirth but if either head are in the up position it would c-section.
I have more blood work to do this week and he is checking me for urinary tract infection.

Any of you out there going to be breast feeding? I am going to meet with the local chapter of La Leche next week and see if they can help me out.

KB- where did you go? Did you and Bridget go on vacation and not come back???? It's so cold and snowy here in NJ, I wish I was somewhere warm right now.

Lyly- take good care of yourself!!!! Follow the doctor's orders and get that asthma under control. You are in my prayers. Please let me know how things go.

Rinnie-how are you doing out in California? My m/s pretty much cleared up after I stopped the progest. shots. I still feel it from time to time but not bad at all. I hope it stays that way.

Cocosmomma-I stopped the Progest. shots and there wasn't that much difference that I could feel in my body. From what I have been reading the placentas take up the work now and keep the levels up.
I only take the prenatal vitamin and folic acid pill every evening before bed now.

Wonderce-I don't even want to think about diapers!!!!! I checked out the prices at Sam's club the other day and almost fainted in the store.

Tigersuz and Marina-no problem with my hair but I have the nicest nails growing lately!!!! I haven't have longer nails like this since I got married.

Talk to everyone soon. Sorry for going on and on and on. I am just so so happy with the doctor's visit today.

Big Hugs,

S.

wonderce- I missed your question before, my ob appt is tomorrow the 20th. Can't wait to go. They didn't check the baby at the hospital yesterday so I am anxious to make sure the baby is ok. I checked the baby's hb today and it was a bit slower but still in the norm but I just want to hear what the doc has to say.

Jerseygal- Thanks for the well wishes. I now have a full blown cold with sneezing runny nose and coughing so I am guessing that is what started my asthma attack. Now on top of the wheezing I feel like crap. Ugg!

Hi girls,
Lyly, that was my concern with the monitor, that what if I won't be able to find a hb-I'd go crazy after what happened to me last time!I read about this problem on our old forum and decided not to rent it this time.To me this pregnancy feels very different from the last one and I see doctors every 2 weeks and they do quick u/s every time,so it keeps me from going insaine.
But I'm glad you got to find it! Sorry you sick,we haven't chat for a long time, good luck tomorrow!

I'm off the PIO for a week now-didn't notice any difference ,I'm glad it's finally over and I can give my butt a rest :D !
IVF#1-BFP,but lost our angel at 16 weeks
IVF#2-BFN
IVF#3-BFP,started w/tiplets,lost one at 7 weeks,lost a second at 15 weeks
Praying for a miracle baby to stay with us!
It's a girl!

Hi ladies! I hope you're all doing well and getting through this awful winter weather! It was below zero here in Ohio for most of last week and I hated every second! Although my husband keeps telling me that the cold stops smells, so that was kind of exciting since my nausea/sickness does NOT want to go away.

Wonderce- I go to the OB on Thursday. I've been having some pain kind of near both ovaries occasionally which I know is just round ligament pain, but it really sucks to be honest. I don't know what pain I should be concerned about and what is okay. They weren't planning to do an u/s on Thursday (which does drive me nuts) but I think they may do one just to be safe.

Jersey - I'm going to attempt breast feeding but I'm still apprehensive. I will definitely pump but I'm kind of scared to breast feed (don't ask me why, I haven't had a rational thought in 3 months). Alot of my friends do it and are great at it so I think I'll at least look into it.

Cocosmomma- I didn't have any symptoms or side effects after stopping PIO but I've heard of women having spotting or cramping or even bloating. I've had so much m/s that I don't know if I would have even noticed another side effect. The funny thing was, the day that they took me off PIO, I didn't even have a blood test -so I think my R/E just determines it based on how far along you are.

Hope all of you have been well and feeling good and having great pregnancies! I just got a small belly last week and it still catches me off guard. Never thought I would actually get to be pregnant one day!!

Hi Cocosmomma, I wasn't on the PIO shots but used the progesterone suppositories instead. I'm not sure if my symptoms lessened or changed because of coming off, but I do know that some of my symptoms came and went for the first couple of months overall. It sounds like you'll come off the meds at 9 weeks? That's the same time I stopped.

Lyly, so sorry to hear about your asthma attack and visit to the ER. It sounds like you've dealt with this before but still has to be scary and not fun. At least you have the inhalers and meds to help. So is it the cold weather that makes it act up? It's not been much better down here in NC. I live on the coast and we actually got snow earlier this week! Very unusual for here. How did your u/s go on Tuesday?

Jerseygal, glad to hear things are going so well for you! And you're lucky to get u/s every 3 weeks. Hope you didn't end up with a UTI. I've heard they can be painful. Yes, I'm planning to at least give breastfeeding a try. I hope to attend some classes offered by my OB's office in another month or so. As for the cost of diapers, it's right up there with all of the other necessities that are needed! I'm willing to sacrifice little splurges I used to make on myself though since baby is #1 priority now! I can't wait to start picking out some things.

Marina, you're also fortunate to have the frequent u/s. I guess with twins you get them more often, same as Jerseygal? Glad to hear you're done with PIO shots. I don't miss sticking myself at all!

Tigersuz, let us know how your appt went today. Hopefully your round ligament pains are getting better. Did you got to take a peek with an u/s today? I also just recently noticed a small pooch. I can still wear my normal clothes but may need some newer pants in the near future!

KB, how are you both? It seems like we haven't heard from you in awhile.

Hi Girls

My u/s went great...he was moving all over the place & he's a week ahead now in growth. I asked the doctor about it & he said it varies with each person, but a lot of times each week they are ahead means an extra 5 lbs. Their size is calculated on an average size of 7.5 lbs.
He said though that with my age I may be early anyway so I may end up delivering a week early & having a regular size baby.
So basically....who knows????

Cocosmomma I had to switch to the IUI so wasn't on progesterone. I was sooo happy about that...I don't know how my butt could have done it. I still have a bruise from my last IVF! Glad things are going well!

wonderce I'm on the cusp...9/24, so just a week before you. :) So they say buying those cloth all in ones where you change the pad & throw the rest in the wash are a lot cheaper. I read that even with hot water washing costs the cloth are 1/2 price over the time you need them. They're a little expensive up front...$17 each for the cover contraption. Uggh...decsions decisions :)

lyly So sorry about your asthma. I have a friend who's also dealing with that...I guess some women get more stuffy during pregancy & things like that act up. Keep on it though because those steroids would not be good.

Jersey I'm so glad I in CA right now...all that cold looks....well, really cold!!! :) Sounds like everything is going well. I read somewhere that twins were usually at least 3 weeks early...you can't skip off to the June board though....we won't let you.

I'm going to try breastfeeding...absolutely. I think it's just getting the hang of it. Most hospitals have lactation experts that come in and you get a hands on lesson which is great. Make sure you ask for one right away as my friend started & when the lady came in the next day she found out she wasn't doing it right & the baby was really hungry.

KB I hope you girls are having a great time wherever you are!

Tiger Ohio does not sound like fun right now! I think the m/s is going to be the worst part for me....I know, it's so tough.
Well, the next wierd sensation after the ligament pain is the kicking. I haven't felt it yet, but my friend said it feels like a little popping or gas at first. All these things to figure out :)

Hi everybody! I am so sorry we have been out of touch. We are undergoing construction at our house and have been without internet the last few weeks. I have tried to log on a few times from work and have been keeping up with you ladies but by the time I go to respond, I get busy! Bridgey is doing great. She is still having a lot of hiccups and reflux but all in all doing well. We are going on the 2nd and will hopefully find out the sex of the twins! When do they say you will start to feel kicking? Bridget thought she felt a flutter the other day but it could have very easily been gas :) so glad to hear you are all well! We have a great board here. Ill be in better touch and write to each of you more specifically next time as I'm writing from my blackberry and its a bit difficult!

Hey girls- I had and u/s today to check on the baby's growth since I am still losing weight at almost 17 weeks. I am down over 5 lbs since the start of my pregnancy. The ob said as long as the baby was growing he would not be worried unless Im still losing at my 20 week visit. The baby looked great today :D I took my dd with me and she got to see the baby for the first time. I was disappointed that the tech was not able to determine the sex. I think she was really inexperienced since she had to go and ask the dr what the heart rate was! So now I have to wait 3 1/2 more weeks to find out.

Rinnie unfortunately I have not choice about the steroids. They tell me they are safe in pregnancy. I was on major doses of steroids when i was pg with my dd and for the same reason. It seems like despite all my efforts (inhalers, steroids, nebulizer treatments) my breathing is just getting worse. It hurts just to take a deep breath. My doctor wants me to see the lung specialist now so I have to call first thing tomorrow morning unless it gets worse tonight and then I have to go back to the ER!

Any one besides Kb think they feel movement yet? I can't for the life of me remember when I felt movement with my daughter ( after all it was 10 years ago). The only thing I remember is that in the very beginning I only felt her push against me when I laid on my stomach. Of course I was super skinny then and didn't get a belly until 6-7 months. I got a more cushion on my belly now I wonder when I feel some movement.

I thought i felt something today around 2pm. He was really active then during my u/s so maybe.....it felt like faint little pops. I don't think I would have really noticed if i wasn't thinking about it. Also my belly just kinda popped out definitively the last couple of days & it's harder. Anybody else have that?

lyly That sounds really scary...wow. Yeah, you need to do anything you can to breathe....I didn't realize it was that bad. Take care.
