Hi all,

Caz, great news about your appt. September will soon be here, just enjoy the summer.

Anna, I have booked my scan for 30th June, the clinic in Kiev said organise it for a week's time (I would only be about 5.5 wks pg) so I thought I would try for the Friday, then I would be 6 wks. When I rang Nurture (Nottingham) they said they did them after 7 wks, as more chance of seeing a heartbeat, if I had it done at 6 wks, I may have to go back. Well, I am so desperate to know what is going on in there I think I will chance it. If there is no fetal heart, but a sack and yolk, then I don't think I will be too worried, and can probably wait another week to see the heartbeat. Of course, another scan means another fee, but hey ho. I am praying hard for your BFP, two strong embies in there. What day did you have your transfer, just trying to work out what day post trans you are now, and trying to imagine just what your two little beauties are up to at present. Come on BFP BFP BFP.

Ali, I didn't see the Panorama programme, but it is just SO typical of journos to portray us over 40's as selfish women, who want it all. Just don't pay any attention to them, you know that your circumstances are such that you would have had a family earlier if you could. I personally think that the journos in this country have far too much to say. You didn't see them 20 yrs ago warning us 20 somethings not to leave it too late, informing us that our eggs are going to be too old if we leave it. Oh no, it was full of "have your career first, think of a family later, after all, so many people are having families later in life now" etc etc. I fell foul of that and thought I had plenty of time, and I just didn't feel ready to raise a family. At 38 I thought, okay, I'm ready now, I'm still healthy, I have the soul mate I've been searching for, met him when I was 32, got married at 36 and ooops, the doctors then tell me that I have left it too late. Nothing like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted!!!! You keep going, and ignore these idiots that know nothing about you.

Lisa (2) any news!!

Well for me, I am doing very little, no housework, not much cooking, no sex (poor DH), no stressing, etc etc. It is my DH's 50th birthday next month and we are planning a "bit of a do", so I have booked a cleaning company to give the house a spring clean the week before, booked a hog roast, complete with salads, and vegetarian options, and my friends are all bringing a desert with them. So, guess what, I haven't got to do a thing!! Keep shaking the piggy bank to see if I can magic up some more pennies, but I know in the end, all the expense of the treatment, travel and accommodation abroad will be well worth it.

Still praying that things hold on, (am starting to even feel a bit nauseous - that's got to be good eh?).

Love and hugs to everyone else on the thread,

Bev xxx

PS for those of you who remember Big J (Jules) she is good, but suffering with her back a bit at the moment, so isn't spending time at the pc. She only has about 8 - 9 weeks to go, until the arrival of her darling son! Once you get that BFP, time does seem to fly.

Bev: It won't be long now until you have your scan. I have my fingers crossed for you to have twins!!

AF is coming, as I woke up with cramps!! It looks like the thaw will be July 17th and ET on July 20th. Hopefully, we will have embies to transfer.

Take care all,

Hi everyone,

My hCG level is: 343 today, which is 14 days after 3 day embryo transfer. The nurse said there was no way to tell whether it is one or more. I will go back to check the hCG level again two days later and will keep everyone posted.

Bev, wish you luck on your first scan. I was informed that you should see something when hCG level is above 300. I wish you see strong heartbeat 7 days later!

Lisa2, you have given us a lot of hope, where are you now?

Anna X, hope your 2ww is short, I started my HPT on 7 days after transfer of 3 day embryos. I kept doing it until today. I did it every 12 hours although I know there is no way of telling whether it is doubled normally by HPT. Could not help it. But do not work too hard, or better yet, do not work at all. By the way, do not forget to eat plenty pineapples. I ate three fresh ones during the first few days after the transfer.

I am adding myself to the list now.

Hi ladies,

Anna: I’m so excited for you on your 2ww. Lots of my family are or were teachers so I can imagine how difficult it is to think of yourself on a hectic day at school. Try and take it easy and keep thinking about your 2 embies snuggling in. May the days fly by until your BFP! Keeping everything crossed! :D

Caz: Glad to hear your appointment went well. September will be the month for you! Good luck.

Bev: congratulations on your BFP! Keep up the stress-free life. You sound so very organized, I’m really envious. On my 2ww I had my own 40th birthday and DH’s birthday so plenty of partying which was a bit heavy action but made time go really fast. Our guests were happy enough that they didn’t even notice I wasn’t joining in drinking alcohol.

Tammy: great to hear you will be getting started soon. Good luck on your new cycle!

Lisa: How’s the little one doing? She’s so lucky to have you around taking care.

As for me: a few days ago I received my new treatment plan with prescriptions for my next cycle and it looks like my doc has had a think about what to change. This time it will be a mix of Menogon, Clomifen and Cetrotide with a first scan on cycle day 7. I had been wondering how I was ever going to get hopeful again after producing only one egg in 2 cycles. But maybe this is going to be the right cocktail for me. Only about 3 weeks to go to start stimming. Oops, must start getting really healthy again. Have this strange urge to indulge (chocolate, sweets, booze etc) at the moment…

Take care all..

Hey Ladies,

Sorry for my pregnant pause (ha-ha). The reality is I have been overly busy at work and feeling horrible. I come home from work and get back in bed. Today I am feeling reasonably ok.

Yesterday was our first scan - I'm seven weeks. We have one baby with a very strong heartbeat! I was actually surprised, my DH and I had ourselves convinced that we had two in there. Needless to say, we are HAPPY and I'm sure this will be a much more manageable situation for us.

My next scan is in three weeks with my OB, July 11th. I'm living day by day - it's rather nerve racking.....but no sign of anything going wrong. I'm trying to stay strong and believe that this is real!!

thanks for thinking of me!

Yasmina - I think that is you with the new BFP!! Congratulations sister and welcome to the club..

all my best to you!

Son,
Thanks so much for asking about little "Zia". She is doing well but we are anxiously awaiting the results of her neurologic evaluation to determine whether she is ethically eligible for a liver transplant. Today was the first day i've had a free minute to check in here on everyone. And WOW! things have been happening here!!!! So little time now with the baby to address everyone but many congratulations and best wishes to all those BFP's and baby dust for the 2ww. And.............guess what????
We are getting a new baby tomorrow!!!! She is 5 days old and weighs 4lbs. and 1/4 ounces. She is healthy except for her tiny size and she's "pokey" with her feedings so she needs a special preemie nipple and feedings every 2 hours. She will also have an apnea monitor because of her prematurity. The best part is that in all likelihood we will be able to adopt her since this is her mother's 5th baby and all 4 of the others have been taking away and been adopted. She says she'll keep having them until they let her keep one. Soooooooo, no more sleep for us!!
I noticed I dropped off the list and don't know how to put myself back. Can anyone help me with a new category perhaps for happily foster parenting??

Hugs and well wishes,
Lisa

Yasmina: Congrats on your BFP!

Lisa: Congrats on baby #2! That is wonderful news. Have you thought of any names yet? So glad to hear that everything is going well with Zia. I sure hope that she becomes eligible for a liver transplant. You are going to be a pro at this "mother thing".

Lisa (2): Good to hear that everything is going well for you also.

Son: Good luck on your next cycle. You never know how your body will react to these meds. My first IVF yield only 3 eggs, but the 2nd IVF yielded 12 eggs. The funny thing is that we used that exact same protocol. :?:

Alison: August will be here before you know it.

Anna: Any news on HPT yet? I'm sure that I will test before my blood test on IVF #3. With a frozen cycle or Donor cycle you don't have to worry about the HCG shot still being in your system to give a false positive.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hi everyone, my hCG level is 770 this morning. My clinics will not monitor this anymore. My first scan is scheduled on July 12 and I will be back to report the news of that. I of course will keep checking how the scans of Bev and Lisa2 go, I am sure you both will be very happy to see the heartbeat! I am also looking forward to the news of Anna X. Best luck to everyone, and keep practicing yoga!

Hi everyone, it's a very gloomy Saturday morning here in the UK.

Yasmina, congrats on a great hcg level!! Things are looking good for you. Doesn't it seem like an absolute age to wait until the scan date? I just want mine NOW!!!

Anna, how are you doing? Half way through now (or just over). Can't wait to hear your news. When do you break up for the summer? DH finishes on Friday 30th June - one of the perks of being at an Independant! Hope it's not too long for you before you can sit back and take things easy for 6 weeks or so.x

Tammy, not long now till you start preparing for your FET.

Lisa, wow, from none to 2!! I am so pleased for you that you have your little family, and what a lovely name, Zia. Does your new baby have a name? I hope they both thrive under your loving care. SO SO happy for you.

Lisa (2), what joy to have seen a glorious heartbeat. Thrilled for you and DH. I can't wait for my scan, I just hope against all hope that we too see that longed for beating of a tiny heart. Do stay positive, I am trying desperately hard to do so, but it is not always easy, given our histories.

Son, glad to see that you have your next step organinsed, I will be keeping everything crossed for you that you have a successful outcome this time. Make the most of the choc and the booze, as when you get your BFP, no more booze for you!!!

Alison, thanks for your heartfelt message, you're right, that BFP is so so precious to us all. Now you are on the list, we can keep track of you and your progress. August will be here in a flash, and then you will be on YOUR 2 WW!!! Good luck with it all.

Well my friends, just thought I would add my latest little hitch to the mix, especially for those of us who have or are going to have DE tmt. I came home from Isida with all my drugs for my protocol to see me through till the 12th week (10 wks post transfer), apart from syringes/needles for my progesterone jabs (they didn't have enough stock to let me have all of my requirements). I mistakenly thought, no problem, I would be able to get them via my GP. WRONG. Went to see him yesterday, talk about disapproving, basically they will not assist me, one: because the drugs protocol I am on is not recognised in the UK!! and two: because I have been treated privately, they say that the NHS won't supply me and anyway, they only have needles for diabetics!!! DH was soo cross with them, but you cannot make them help you.

The long and the short of it is that I am sourcing some off the internet from a site called firstaidwarehouse.co.uk. I just cannot believe that the NHS in the UK can be so disapproving of us going abroad to seek tmt!! If only they were able to offer us the tmt we seek, then we would surely stay at home - but they do not offer it (unless you wait for about 5 yrs for a donor). I am really disillusioned with my doctors and very very unhappy, feeling totally unsupported and alone!

Thank goodness I have all of my "friends" on here for support and to babble on to. Thanks for listening guys.

Hi all

Glad to see the board is back to normal and I can get in OK, I know I don't post much nowadays but I keep looking in on you all and to not be able to do so I felt really cut off! Anna - glad you emailed me as I didn't know if it was just me.

Funny day yesterday, pg girl in aerobics class, instructor all over her like a rash, suppose she has to be but kept saying things like 'we have to take care of our mummies to be, don't we'. Hate oozing from my every pore and tring not to burst into tears in the middle of squats. And I'm supposed to be over this??! Mmmm. I think not.

Funny week actually, come to think of it, DH thinks maybe we should not completely rule out having another go next year. Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh. Don't know where that came from. So I am a bit all over the place. Can't really see it happening though if I'm honest.

Apart from that, it's so nice to see good news on here for a change, cheers me up no end.

Bev, I have a pile of syringes & needles all still sealed in their sterile wrappers if you get really desperate but not sure if I can post them?? Do they x-ray the post? Now why did I keep hold of them? I suppose I just never got round to taking them back to the clinic  Anyway if you want them, pm me your address. No charge.
My GP always asked why I had gone to Spain, with that disapproving look in his eye, they don't understand - surely they know we can't get the same level of service here - you would think one of these doctors somewhere along the line might realise and try to do something about changing things in the UK as far as donor tmt goes. Makes me very cross too. Mine actually said that he thought Spain would interpret HCG levels differently so he wouldn't do blood test - explain that one!! And he had the audacity to suggest that they didn't have the same level of expertise because they were Spanish not English - oooh you've got me going now! Conversely, my clinic were fab I am glad to say.

Enough of the ranting! Take care all & speak soon

Yasmina: Glad to see your healthy HCG level! Good luck on your scan!!

Bev: You poor thing! That clinic of yours  . With all of the money we pay our clinics, they should be bending over backwards to help us.
You are such an inspiration to all of us on this site. Try to find something to occupy your time, so you won't notice the gloomy day. DH are I are working on Elena's room today. I bought the paint yesterday. It is a lovely light green. We are using the "Classic Pooh" theme. Eventhough we will not get Elena for 1 year or so, it helps me to stay busy working on her room. I'm afraid she will be spoiled. With Elena being my first child, unless I get lucky with my FET, I want to buy her everything.

Kat: It is so good go hear from you!!! Maybe you and DH should try one more time. This FET is the last try for DH and I. I would really love to have 2 children, if at all possible. DH does not want to go to China twice, so this is my only chance to have 2!

Anna: How are you feeling? Did you break down and buy a HPT?
I'm still waiting for AF. I'm on cycle day 29.

Lisa (2): How are you feeling?

Lisa: How is your family doing? Did you get your new baby yet? You are probably swamped!!

Take care all,
Tammy
