Hi Ladies,

Angie, wre abouts are you? and how long have you lived over there? didn't know you were an expat. I have friends in Perth.

The scan went great we get the blood results on Monday, but the nuchal measure was 1.5 and 1.9 respectively, she was very happy and said concerns are raised at any thing over 3. She also did a full appraisal and showed us the brain, heart, stomach and bowel and said all looked good. We got to hear the heartbeats as well which was cool. She also checked the nasal bone as she said that can be an indication of downs and seemed fine, although one baby was upside down and would not move, so could not check. The heartbeats were 158 and 162, and they both measure 7cm give or take a couple of mm. Still measuring bigger than their dates, but she did not want to change the date due to being IVF.

Wow long post about me. Hope everyone else is ok.
catch you all soon.

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok. :)
Beachbaby, thanks for your welcoming words. I went to the doctors in the end as i was in so much pain and it wasnt doing me any good - she presribed me Fibogel!!! Ive been relatively ok today which is a big relief. Just hoping i get a good nights sleep tonight too! :) Ive also had to buy maternity clothes as none of my clothes fit me. Thank god for ebay!!!
I have the nuchal scan on Monday and i am really anxious about it. Dont really know much about it and am too scared to look it up on the net. Any advice anyone? Glad yours went well, Jayne. When is your next scan? How big are your babies measuring? Have you felt them move yet?
My nausea is not as severe now so im hoping i will start to enjoy my food again, got a bit of a thing for lemon curd at the mo!! Anybody else got any 'things' for certain foods? :)
Im off to bed for an early night now so i wish you all a very nice weekend. See you soon. Sue X X

Hi everyone-

Jayne- glad to hear your test went well with nothing to worry about.

Sue- glad to hear that the dr gave you something for some relief. Hopefully after some time you will get back to normal. As far as the nuchal goes there is nothing to worry about. They do an ultra sound which is really cool b/c you get to see the baby and just do some measurements of the skin behind its neck. They also measure the heartbeat and look at the nose. Also they do a blood test on you which is a prick on the finger.

I'm doing ok. Tired of not being able to sleep through the night and heartburn. Anyone have any suggestions for that relief? I take tums but it doesn't seem to always help. I don't have cravings except anything I see like commercials on tv for food I'll think that sounds good. I have been wanting a lot of fresh stuff like fruit and and cucumbers/carrots with dip.

I hope everyone else is doing well and keeps in touch. It seems like we've lost a few on our thread. Have a great weekend.

Hi Ladies,

Sue, glad you got some relief from the dr. As for the nuchal don't worry its just like a regular abdominal scan, but very thorough, are you having the blood test also? We even got to hear the heartbeats too which was great. The twins are measuring 7cm give or take a few mm's, they are still measuring a couple of days bigger but they won't move my due date due to it being IVF it has to be right!!

Kimberli, i am with you on sleeping, although the last couple of nights have been better, not so many toilet breaks. I hava just started with heartburn, will go to the pharmacy on monday to see what they can give me to help.

I went for a lovely long walk with \dh today on the beach, very cold but fresh and dry. I see the consultant on Friday, and my next scan will be the 20 week anomoly scan.

speak agin soon

Hi Ladies,
Wondering if you can help me..

I am suffering from terrible headaches that have just come on in the last week. Paracetemol doesn't really help and I've now had a headache for 24 hours straight and I'm worried something's wrong. I am going to see the doc this arvo just in case but was wonderin' if anyone else had a similar story? My nausea has eased off a bit (I'm almost 12 weeks now - Thurs) but now the headaches have started. This morning I couldn't even stand up in the shower. I had my blood pressure checked 5 days ago and everything was fine, as well as the babies.

I know some info on the net says headaches are common but I've never met anyone who have had them..

Any advice?

Thanks girls xox

I am 15 weeks pregnant and I have had headaches from day 1. I get horrible migraines. Now that I am out of the first trimester I drink a little caffeine a day and that helps. My doctor said to drink a small amount of caffeine and take 2 Tylenol. I still get small headaches but not nearly what I was getting and not every day. My doctor said migraines are common with pregnancy.

Thanks Shantell,

My b/p was normal and the doc thinks it it is a tension headache. I applied a cold compress and it seems to have eased a little. I never suffered from migraines previously, a little nagging headache sometimes around day 2-3 of my period, which is why I thought it may be a reaction to all the fluctuating hormones.

Whatever is causing it, I'm most likely stressing for no reason. I just hate taking any kind of pain relief with these babies and feel so guilty while they are still so small and developing.

I'll check in again thurs.

Great to hear everyone's doing well. I'm always reading up on you all.

How far along are you? I didn't really take anthing until after my first trimester. If I was dying though I did take some tylenol. I didn't do any caffeine though until my 2nd trimester.

I'll be 12 weeks thurs. I just took one panadeine which has 8% codeine and bam, headaches gone. Doc said fine to take but just not all the time. Most likely won't take anymore. Figured the stress of the pain was more detrimental than one little capsule that has been categorized as "safe". Still you always wonder hey. I have been caffeine free for months but have the occ cup of real tea every now and then. So not sure if it would be caffeine withdrawels this late in?

Geez, we obsess don't we? I don't think my DH recognizes the woman I've become :)

I don't think it has anything to do withdrawals as I am not a big caffeine drinker myself. The doctor says that it is the hormones. Caffeine helps headaches...something about the blood vessels, etc... I did some research on the internet on it. You might just do a search on caffeine and headaches and it will give you some information.

Good luck! I hope you feel better!

Hi Ladies-
I too have been experiencing headaches and was told by the dr that it is part of pregnancy b/c of the increase of blood flow. So I was told to take 2 tylenol which usually helps. I try as well not to take anything but after a few hours especially before bed I need too as well as if I'm at work.
Anyone have some relief for heartburn? I take tums but it's not working.

So much for feeling better in the 2nd trimester eh? I am feeling worse !

I too have starting getting headaches over the last couple of weeks - I think they are sinus headaches as my nose is a bit blocked too - it's all part of pregnancy symptoms but very annoying none the less. Am trying not to take too many drugs but will have a couple of panadol here and there if need be. And I am peeing more too - it's always been once in the night and now it's twice - very annoying and so not sleeping so well.

Ho hum! Better not complain too much though but I would love some more energy - it's like having a constant hangover.

Good to know we are going through this together and have similar symptoms.

One more week til my OB appmt when I will hear the heartbeat again finally. Oh and I have just discovered the "belly band" - it's great - 20 bucks and you can wear it over all your pants and skirts when the zips don't close. Great invention.

Hope you are all doing well.

Hi ladies,

Oh so glad to hear I am not alone in the headache dept, but I must say mine has subsided for 24 hours since taking the one Panadeine. So grateful! Nausea however, another story. 6pm it hits me like a ton of bricks. Don't know what to do with myself. I just feel terrible and I start back at work tonight...ewww. It's such a dilemma finding the right thing to eat too. Does anyone else find that? It's as if I have to eat but the nuggets want something specific and they won't let up til they get it :-) So far they like bacon, egg sandwiches, toast and honey, rice..Mostly bland stuff. I'm really hoping the sickness goes soon :-/

Oh we had our Nucal Translucency today and our tests came back great. 1 in 3950 or something like that, so no need for further testing thank goodness. Twin A has surpassed Twin B and is measuring 12 weeks exactly and Twin B is 11 weeks, 6 days. Both pretty much 5.6cms. So relieved!

Angie you cracked me up about the peeing in the night saga. I'm up to 5 trips a night  I'm peeing up a storm and as for trying to hold my bladder for the u/sounds, no way in the world!!!

Keep well guys

completely with you on the bland food Dexter - last night I had plain fish, boiled spuds, carrots and peas - so plain - like something my grandmother (bless her) would have cooked - but it was great. But it is a struggle knowing what food to buy and what you'll feel like at the time. Still can't stand broccoli but hopefully making up by eating lots of fruit - I'm juicing when I get up in time and making smoothies.

Headaches gone today but last night I kept getting sharp twinges left hand side, but really low down. I had them earlier on , when I was about 6 - 8 weeks - I think it's ligament stretching ...does this sound familiar to anyone?

Have great days all.
