I just can't get enough of those sloppy kisses. Glad to hear you were unaffected by the flooding B, we have had next to no rain and could sorely use it...send some our way!

Welcome home Tiger. It is going to be hard to be away from DH for so long but at least you have plenty of time to catch up with your family....they will have to spoil you rotten in DHs absence while you are going through your treatment.

Wow Deanne, the scan has come around quickly (probably not quick enough for you). How are you feeling? Any morning sickness, etc. I hope you are well and enjoying every minute of it. I know this place can be a bit depressing some times but please hang around and let us know how you are doing...it is so exciting!

How you doing MissMolly? I hope Zita is providing lots of useful info for your next treatment and that you are also counting down the days until your big trip...the time will fly I am sure....it is already July!!

Barbara, how is Donna? I still can't believe everything she had to go through. I would be a basket case by the end of that. She must be an incredibly strong person....and she has great support from her mum!

Josie, are you still with us? I hope your pregnancy is going as planned and that you and your family are all ok.

Nothing much to report here....first injection this morning and a needle stick injury. :( I couldn't get the wretched needle into the rather odd sharps bin....could have had something to do with the fact that I stayed up til 4am watching Live8 and am feeling a bit fuzzy this morning. Note to self....you are no longer 25! I am still not feeling 'into' this treatment but am trying to muster some enthusiasm for DHs sake!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Oh Heather.... I am sorry to hear about your injury..... I hope you got ice creams and chocolates to ease your prickly pain..... Live8? you mean the cricket? that was dead exciting, I am not sure how we didn't manage to win it though. A draw against England... funny how my hubby did predict that ending- ha ha.

Bel, I will check out the tickey place later - yay!!

Cheers,
Tiger

Hi everyone - sorry for being away so long, have been travelling a bit for work and the nights I am home I am having dinner and going almost straight to bed - soooooooo tired!!

Barbara / Donna - so sorry to hear your sad news, and all that you have had to go through - also Miss Molly, fingers crossed for a successful thaw, as our doctor said (we only had three eggs) - it only takes one...

Heather - needlestick is not good, at least it means you have progressed with the treatment - do you think feeling detached is a protection mechanism? Perhaps moving to ICSI is the way to go (it is what we used) and all the very best that this time will be the one

Tiger - welcome back to Oz, once treatment starts, the time will fly until you are reunited with DH - which clinic are you going to in Melbourne?

Deanne - how are you feeling? DP said to me the other day 'gee, its great, apart from being tired, you feel fine' - through gritted teeth I suggested that perhaps I should share more often when I feel sick - its like being seasick and not being able to get out of the boat - but it comes and goes throughout the day with no rhyme or reason. Had cocopops for breakfast most days this week (haven't read Zita's book, but I doubt she advocates this...) - but has stayed down and I have felt pretty good, my view is that if it works, I'll stick to it until it stops working!!

We had our scan on Wednesday - one beautiful baby, 0.81cm long (had to explain that to my mum about three times, she thought I meant 8.1cm) - due date 16 Feb, heart beat 129 per minute, everything as it should be.

Am yawning as I type, so will go and watch the end of BB (Glenn just out) and then off to bed.

Take care all

Hi all,

Josie, it's good to hear from you and many congrats on the scan - so glad all is progressing as it should and that you're doing well.

Heather, sorry to hear about your needlestick injury. I got one too when I was injecting - they're damn painful. About your not being into this cycle, I think the processes we go through are so long and drawn out that it's hard to be super-enthusiastic at every stage. A bit of a detachment is probably a good thing.

Yep, I'm anxiously hanging out for our scan on Friday. It feels like we've been waiting forever. The nausea started for me a few days ago. It usually hits mid-late afternoon and I get queasy just thinking about food. Some days I can't bring myself to prepare any dinner - just as well DH is supportive and self-sufficient! But it's not too bad and I'm lucky to be working from home so I can take a nap during the day which helps.

Tiger, yes the cricket was exciting. We went to bed before the end though and can't believe we missed seeing the tie.

I also enjoyed the Live 8 show (though only saw the Chanel 9 broadcast). Let's hope the G8 take notice this week, hey.

Have a good week everyone.

Josie,

That's such good news!! do you have an estimated date on confinement (love that expression) yet??, lovely to hear that all went well..Can relate to the fatigue, I was just zonked during most of the first trimester, I used to come home from work early, go to bed, wake up to demand dinner from Johnie, then go straight back to bed..what a social life hey??..You will get your energy back in the second trimester though..

Deanne, hope all goes well on Friday, is really lovely to see that little life and a little heartbeat, please let us know how it all goes..

Tiger, don't worry about not knowling what Live8 was, I was watching it with my hubby and he had to explain what the significance of the 8 was (something to do with the biggest 8 economies of the world), I had no idea either!!

Take care all

Hi Tiger,
Confinement is one of those fabulous terribly Victorian type of expressions, refers to the date that you have the baby. I guess it harks back to the times when women had babies then spent about a week in bed "confined" due to extreme blood loss and the like (yikes!!)..These days you get up and about like 10 minutes after having he baby so it seems!! (no rest for the wicked!!)
Take care

Hi

Just had a call from the friends we visited on the weekend - their 2 year old was diagnosed with 'slapped cheek' today, one of those things you should avoid exposure to in the first 20 weeks..... have been reading up on the govt health site, everything should be ok, but need to contact the clinic tomorrow and ask for a blood test to see if I am immune (50-60% women of childbearing age are immune), and if not, scans every couple of weeks to make sure baby doesn't have aneamia... am being positive, as the odds seem to be in our favour that everything will be ok.

Tiger - we went to the Epworth in Bridge Road, quite happy with how everything went, would happily recommend it. Our Dr is Lynn Burmeister and we have booked her for the obstetric end of things. First 'pregnant' appoinment with her is around the 21st of July, I guess unless something turns up in the blood test above.

Went to Sydney for the day today, ready to eat dinner and go to bed YAWN - you're right Bel, not much of a social life!!! Confinement is scheduled for 16 February - a wonderful term - my mother worked for the public service and she still refers to parental leave as accouchement leave...

My best friend lives in Tassie and is having twins - she is 35.5 weeks and in her words, she has just about had enough - so lots of excitement each time we speak, as her time is getting closer.

Night night all

Jo,
I've never heard of "slapped cheek syndrome", what on earth is it??, glad you're gettting blood tests etc, I'm sure it will all be fine though..do let us know how it all goes..
The 16th of Feb isn't that far away really!!!!, I loved having a summer baby, meant when you got up at night for inevitable feeds that it was quite comfortable. I rekon it would be harder to get up during winter when its warm and snuggly in bed!!!

Hi everyone,

It sems as though everyone is progressing along well with everything. Deanne - good luck with your scan, you must be soooo excited   .

Heather - sorry to hear about you injury! I know what you mean about not 'feeling' theis cycle. I was a little bit 'whatever' about our last cycle.

I detected a surge today with the clearplan - I got the surge the first day I used it - it ususally takes me three days. I have a blood test tomorrow & maybe a FET on Friday if the little bugger thaws!!!!!!! This cycle has come around so quickly that it is making my head spin. I am just praying that our little embie thaws. I am having my first acupuncture session on thursday - I would have gone earlier, but did not think this FET would come around so soon. Bel, you had acupuncture - what was it like?

I had to go for a transthoracic echo (my heart) today. It took ages as she could not get a good image - she said I was too thin to get a good image!!!!!! It was really uncomfortable around my ribs, because she had to push down really hard - I thought they were going to break. I am just average weight for my height, so I feel really sorry for someone who is actually skinny - ouch.

We have a follow up with our consultant tomorrow, then a blood test, then we are seeing the hematologist (? clexane). I will be spending nearly the whole day at the darn hospital!

We are looking forward to Friday if we can go ahead with the transfer.

Hi MissMolly,

Gosh your cycle has come around quickly!!, though they used to DRAG on for me when I was going through it, every day felt like an eternity!!!

I lurved accupuncture, very very relaxing, I fell to sleep during most sessions. I really just lay back and let it all happen. You know there have been some really reputable studies done that show that IVF with accupuncture shows a slightly (statistically signifant) higher success rate, bring it on I say!!..I was slightly dubious I must admit, the whole chi thing and meridians etc, but found it entirely enjoyable and I fell strongly that it contributed to my conception of Ms Boo..Fill us in on your experience won't you??
