Tess - my beta jumped up beautifully! Hopefully yours will too. I don't have much -- but I'm sending you every bit of STICKY BABY DUST I can! Image

Margi - oohh - I miss my POAS queen. My attempts at filling your shoes as POAS queen seem quite feeble indeed. I'm so happy you got your beautiful twins -- but don't you feel the urge to pee on something still? Image

Maria - I hope the holidays go smoothly and you find some peace. This is just so tragic. Congrats on starting Lupron again. Image

as for the roll call -- BFP - beta 8dp5dt = 21, 11dp5dt = 122, first u/s Monday 12/5 at 5w3d

Patricia (Ninde) - I know how you feel about being the unlucky one. When statistic say only 5% chance of miscarriage and then you ARE that 5% - that sucks. Here's how much I hate "my" stats: at age 21, 95% of couples conceive in the first year - NOPE! After seeing a heartbeat - chance of miscarriage is 5% = NOPE! After passing first trimester, odds of losing the baby = less than 1% - NOPE! Sheesh. I guess "I am the 1%" (unfortunately, not in the Occupy Wall Street sense!) Until I have that baby in my arms, I'm going to believe that I'll finally be on the right side of the stats. I'm so sorry that your husband's disease affects your sex life like that. I can't imagine. I'm so sorry that you have IVF/loss to deal with on top of all that shit.

here is a joke making fun of statistics to make your day a little lighter :D
Image

Julia - you've had your TL and his vasectomy reversed? I thought you hadn't and that's why you were doing the IVF. Good luck buying the house! Image It's for you to move into or as an investment property? My mother started buying houses and renting them out as an investment. She hates dealing with tenants (and has learned to do a vigorous screening process!) but she makes good money on them, and will continue to (especially after their mortgages are paid off). Four kids - and we all went/are going to college!

Christy - I'm hoping you do get to be part of that 5%! I hope you get to avoid a UTI after your exciting weekend

Gina - what the heck? I hate when your body messes with you! I had been on the pill so many years (due to excessive menstrual bleeding that would make me pass out... I started the pill when I was 12 to control that) but when I stopped to TTC, I got such wonky periods - only a few a year. I wasn't ovulating at all. I'm PCO and Clomid worked great for me (until we discovered our male factor issues and IVF/ICSI became our only choice). My GP also recommended Metformin/Glucophage (same drug, brand/generic name) to help with my insulin resistance and said it might help make my periods more regular. My IVF doctors nixed the idea - because starting/stopping Metformin can affect your IVF drugs --- but I'll probably start it when I'm done having kids (because of the insulin resistance that is part of PCO and the risk for developing diabetes).

Laura -TMI - but what are we here for anyways? :D I definitely need sex at least once a week. My husband's first girlfriend would only make out with him because he wanted to and made him feel like it was always a chore for her (they didn't go very far, this was in high school, but still). When he met me and I'm a really into it and love having sex, he thought he had hit the jackpot. I think that more women are like me than her. This is TMI - but funny - when we first got married, we used to set alarms for the middle of the night so we could wake up and have sex again! Now we are 'old married people' (6 years!) and life/stress gets in the way of my "multiple times a day" plan... but definitely once a week! :D One note about dtd during the 2ww.... if you are using progesterone suppositories (vaginally) our doctor highly recommended that we use a condom. The purpose of taking the drugs vaginally is because they are absorbed better through the genital tissue than through the digestive tract. But you want to make sure that your husband isn't exposed to too much progesterone! Ironic that we've bought more condoms since TTC than before! :D

I'm excited for your ER results today!

Neffi - F*CK. double F*CK.Image UGH. I'm so upset with you.Image I hope you get good news on Friday.

Jen - ImageHURRAY! That is such exciting news! I'm so happy for you. Image

Jayne - I'm so sorry to hear that your mother's cancer might be back. Good luck at work.

AFM -

I'm actually surprised how calm I am. My goal is to 'forget' that I'm pregnant and just chill for the next few weeks. Image

We told our parents last night. I called my mom - she was shocked (since she was expecting us to wait longer before TTC again) and then she started crying so hard she had to hang up the phone. I think that's a good thing. I'll call her again tomorrow.

My in-laws came over for dinner (ordered in sushi!) and 'projects' around the house. (Both DH and his dad are really handy - they like doing projects together. There was a bunch of small stuff to do - re hang a cabinet door, hang a picture, fix DH's bike odometer, fix the toilet seat -- all done now! MIL and I sat and chatted.) We told them our news. They are super excited too. My MIL started talking about buying cribs and strollers (they are planning a trip to the USA for her niece's wedding in June and she was asking if she should bring back a stroller, since they are much cheaper there). I told her that we were still a little early for shopping (especially since I like to wait until I know the baby's sex), but I'm optimistic and just trying to chill until after my cerclage surgery, which will hopefully be in late-Jan, early-Feb. They are super excited.

I also told my sister (she's 21 and in college in NYC). We are super close. She is so excited too - but like our parents, also a bit hesitant to be too excited.

We are waiting to tell my two brothers and D's brother until after we see the hb (hopefully in 2 weeks!).

I'm trying to just chill and wait for my u/s, but I can't help POAS!

Here's today's and a few others for comparison. I think it's looking good!

Leora: SO happy that the family is on board and happy for you two. Not surprising that your mom got emotional and your in-laws sound wonderful. AND, LOVE your sticks!!!! (I still have mine--is that nuts?! ) Indeed I am a card-carrying member of Image and still have a good number of leftover sticks....hm....maybe I should dust some off.... :P My OB asked me about birth control at my 6 week check up postpartem. AS IF!!

And all you girls with your sex talk...love your candor...DH and I have had a very active sex life. I may be older than he, but just as interested if not more so. However, we too were told no sex in 2ww and then no sex until u/s and HB. Soon afterwards, as in a week, I had bleeding and a subchorionic hematoma. I was put on pelvic rest (that means no sex, no orgasm, no NOTHING) which ended up lasting the entire pregnancy. Talk about deprivation.....but it was for such a wonderful cause, I wouldn't change a thing looking back.

hmmm.... OPERATION: CHILL-OUT may have failed before it even began...

I went to the bathroom and the suppository goop is a bit brownish. I'm hoping it's just because of the suppositories.

I see my GP for something unrelated this afternoon (infected toenail - ouch!) and I'm considering asking him for a RX for another beta. Or I could go into the IVF clinic for a repeat beta tomorrow.

Or I could just chill and wait for the u/s on Monday.

hmmm.....

Leora- They are def getting darker!! YAY!! Since you are seeing brownish stuff I'm sure everything is okay!! I know how worried you must be, so if getting another BETA helps then I'd do that!

Margi- I STILL have my test stick from 12 years ago with DS! If it happens again, I'll keep that one too!

Morning ladies :)

Neffi: Oh crap, with your viagra support I thought the lining would be thicker. Now I know our clinic says anything over 7 is good - so hopefully by Friday's ultrasound the upped meds with help. Im sorry though - you don't need the stress :(

LauraN: Best of luck today - I'm sending you a lucky shamrock (and if I could get it to show on screen that would be helpful!), I hope the retrieval goes so well.

Bodie: Thanks for your words. How are you doing?

Gina: Clearly I'm too jealous to even talk to you anymore!! ;)

Maria: Could you add me to January in terms of my IVF cycle starting again? My ET will probably be end Feb

Christy: Your afternoon with Belle sounds lovely! Why were the tv crew coming to her house?

JenMink: Wow, congratulations - that is wonderful - very well done! Fantastic you saw a heartbeat and there might even be a second one!

HopethisWorks: How are your levels?

Tess: Hey, of course you are nervous, allow yourself be ok with that - I know its not an easy place to be but if you whallop yourself over the head with recriminations about it you will feel even worse. Brilliant idea to get some support from your TCM - that will help, it really will. So your u/s is Thursday?

Jayne321: Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. Has she symptoms? I know you were so happy because she got the all-clear. Please take care of yourself, this is a very difficult time for you.

Leorira: Thats a brilliant drawing! With any luck that brownish gloop is the suppositories - they are really hard on the tissue which is already delicate in that area. Damn though, I really hoped you would have a completely stress-free time. How are you now?

Afm: I've got a tummy ache :( Not a bad one but ugh, not pleasant. I have accupuncture after work and before teaching this evening so I'll see if she can stick in an extra needle :)

Just got home from the ER. Went really, really well, I'm hurting much more than I was last time, but I don't care. We got 13 eggs!!!! So I know for some of you that is nothing, but for me, with only getting 5 last time, that is huge! And, they were able to get them from both ovaries. Anyways, they will call us tomorrow morning with the fertilization report and then tell us what time to come in on Friday for the ET. I'm so stinking excited right now. The first thing I asked after I woke up after the procedure was how many eggs, then I started crying when they told me how many, and the nurse was adorable and just held my face in her hands....too sweet, I love my clinic! Well, off to bed, I'm sure I will be on later :P

Hey Maria,

So sorry for what you are going through. I'm up to my elbows doing end of term papers and studying for exams so no time for personals.

Status - on BCP for FET - Donor embryos, transfer mid December.

Someone asked why I don't want twins, I have PCOS which puts me at much higher risk for gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced hypertension, if I have twins those 2 things are pretty much guaranteed. Also with working shift work and unpredictable hours, I'm at higher risk for preterm delivery, again with twins would make that a much higher chance. So it would just be better and safer if I only carry one. Hope that helps. Working in maternity care, I see how compounding risk factors really make a difference. It's just healthier for me and if I get pregnant for the baby if I have a singleton.

Leoria - CONGRATS!!! I'm so excited for you! I hope this is it for you!

Oh and Laura - What a GREAT ER!!!! 13 is such an amazingly lukcy number for me. I hope so for you too!

To all the other BFP's congratulations!! So so so exciting.

LaureN,
Yay thirteen eggs is alot, and that was sweet how your nurse held your face with being overwhelmed in excitement, they seem to really care about you. Wishing you a great outcome, how many do you think you'll want to transfer?

Ninde,
Thank you, Belles mom is having a time yesterday finding someone to help her get the internet up and running and still is working on it. They are now living way out in the country, she said only one other neighbor has internet. She works parttime from home and her new job is really dependent on getting it all set up. Anyway Belles and I had a blast yesterday and I think it helped in making the move with her daughter alot easier. I hope the acupuncture helped your tummy ache!

Leora,
If an ultrasound would rest your mind, absolutely go for it, although "brown blood" is considered old blood so I wouldn't stress over it too much. yep, you are probably right, I feel a UTI coming on... Ok still two lines for ov, (but with one line just slightly darker then the other line this morning.) Dh asked if I was ready, but honestly I was already so sore, slightly stinging that I told him maybe tonight, but I really should "hibernate" for a while instead...

Leora,
I just read the story you posted on facebook "How to make a baby the IVF way" and I couldn't keep my tears back as I got halfway into reading it. There are so many expectations that come with IVF and some couples have this perception that it's going to happen on the first try, and the ones that are blessed with a baby on the first try maybe were told they only had a 5% chance of this working. Personally I always thought IVF had a higher success rate then 5%, maybe it has variables depending on each clinic, I don't know and maybe that number really doesn't even matter when you see the miracle happening. Honestly I don't even know why they post a number when IVF is more like playing the slot machine, because even with those statistics we aren't guaranteed, I don't mean to sound cynical, but we all know it's the way life is! Yet what choice are we left with, adoption is as expensive as IVF in the U.S. and how many biological mothers change their minds at the very last second, given that most have that parential right once the baby is born. So here we are trying to bring home our own miracle, and it's not an option it's our desire and even if I'm here still trying 5-10 years later (due to financial resources) we will bring home our rainbow baby. For those of us who are new to this, IVF comes with ups downs and sometimes may take more time then you ever realized. Honestly, to witness so many miracles happening to us on here, these miracles like the ones happening right now, truly is what keeps us going and it's going to be the only way to conquer this battle.:)

Hey ladies...sorry it has been so long! I've missed ya'll!

Leora- CONGRATS!!!! I am so happy your beta doubled so nicely and you are preggo! That's true it is old blood. I know you are getting another beta so let us know how it goes. :)

Tessa-nice to meet you and congrats! I hope you beta doubles too!

lauraN-so happy for the beautiful number of eggies you got! I cant wait to hear your fert report.

neffi-here is some thickening dust for you! ~~~~

Maria-status update: lupron for FET. FET scheduled for 12/28. Did i read you started Lurpon...are you trying again? sorry if im confused.

I missed alot of peeps but I promise to catch up.
AFM-visiting my in-laws was a disaster. there is way to push drama and fighting in the family. my nephew was so cute though. We all got sick. Im home with a sinus infection :( DH is off hunting for elk, i hope he gets one. I'm having break through bleeding while on bcp and lupron. RE told me to take double up bcp. Im also on z-pack for sinus infection. too many drugs! I just found out DD needs a passport to go to Serbia...it cost $200. Then I called the airline to make sure I get a crib thingy for our flight overseas and they told me I needed to purchase a ticket for her...it was $140! That is rediculous!! I had to barrow money from her college fund. I dont know how we are going to pay for FET. If IVF/ICSI was $3500, I'm hoping FET will be super cheap and we can put it on credit card. Ya'll are cracking me up with your sex talk...I wish I had 1/2 the sex drive some of you have. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and IVF hormones have put us at 1x/month if we are lucky.
