elca- It must be really exciting to get all the furniture in place. I remember feeling so happy and relieved when the nursery was done. I hear ya about the sleeping. I have to keep switching sides b/c all the extra weight makes one side go numb, and then to top it all off, it is so painful to flip b/c of the pressure on my pubic bone. Well, with any luck, only three more nights of sleeping this way.

I am just taking each of these last few days one easy day at a time. I may go get a pedicure tomorrow, and I spend most of my days waiting for dh to finish up at work, so I have company and help to do whatever. You would never think someone would complain about having nothing to do but sit around, but it is tough!

It is nice weather here this weekend, I hope you are all enjoying it too...talk to you soon!

Hi Ladies. Hope time is going by faster for you than it is for me. I feel like the weeks go by fast, but the days drag. Does that make sense?

Lostgirl - are you feeling better yet? Anything you can do for that pain, or just stick it out? Hope it gets better before you deliver!

Elca - new furniture how exciting! Have fun setting it all up.

Michelle - good luck Tuesday. SO close now. I wish I was on for Tues as well since DH is a teacher and has to go back to work (after 8 wks off) on Sept 2 and I am due Sept 6. I have a feeling that this little one will be late...so he will have a few days or a week to start his class on something and then will have to take time off. If only we could force the issue...

I have a bunch of women I know that just had early babies - one 3 wks and one 6 wks early - so we have gotten ourselves totally ready. Furniture is in place, hospital bag is packed, baby stuff is washed and freezer is stocked with food. We had the rugs cleaned, painted, made wills, bought life insurance and had our car seats installed by the fire dept (~70% of people either install the seat wrong, or fasten the child incorrectly!). So now I have nothing much to do. I work 1/2-full days in lab depending on how my hands are working. The carpal tunnel syndrome is getting worse and though I can type, I cannot feel my fingers hitting the keys!

Hi Everyone!! I'm back crashing your thread.

Thank you for all your warm wishes and congratulations...they mean A LOT to me. We still haven't told anyone (just my mom -who's here visiting, and my brother who used to live with us in Massachusetts).

We have moved to New Mexico and are starting our new life...I had my first ultrasound and our baby is doing well (thank God!). The only thing is that I had a terrible allergic reaction to the PIO shot about 3 nights ago, I was really scared, now they have me on progesterone pills.

In any case, I'm not here to share so much about me, I'm here to wish Michelle the best in her delivery!!! I'm sending you lots of love and positive energy for you and Ella. I'm really excited for you and dh, in a couple of days you will have her in your arms :) Tons of hugs to you my dear.

LostGirl--I'm so sorry honey, I certainly hope the pain goes away soon. Sending you healing thoughts for your sciatica.

WashingtonDA, MLB, and everyone else, sending you all lots of love, I hope you're doing well. :D

Michele,
Ella's big day is only two days away. I am sure you are equal parts nervous and excited, which I figure is normal. Good luck with everything. I am so happy for you that your wait is almost over.

As for me, I saw another ob-gyn in my ob-gyn's practice and she not only told me I'm in it for the long haul (no effacement at all) but I needed to do more to treat my sciatica pain, not just muscle through. The worst thing to do is sit on a sciatica nerve all day and that's what I have to do working 9 hours days. I plan to work for at least another 3 weeks.

She suggested Tylenol, massages (as often as I can afford them), hot baths when I get home from work, and using a hot water pad a couple of times a day.

Yesterday was so much better after I took her advice. It was also a Saturday obviously so I spent the day not sitting but lying on my side with a hot pad on. Now I'm actually feeling optimistic again. I don't know how people who suffer from chronic pain make it week after week. One week of untreated chronic pain and I wanted to give up. Now i'm back to feeling ok. Sure I cannot walk more than five blocks (a problem in NYC), and the pain shoots up my leg if i go up or down stairs, but at least I know the pain is caused by the baby and when I give birth, it will go away. And that when I get home, I have pain management strategies that help.

Hope everyone is hanging in there. Elca I'm jealous that you're partially effaced ! And nice to hear from you Esperanza and that your baby is growing. Stay in touch...

Esperanza- Thank you so much for the well wishes. i hope all is going well in New Mexico. It must be a big change from what you are used to. I am happy to hear your pregnancy is progressing well, and make sure you keep us posted on all details.

Lostgirl- Nervous and excited just about sums it up. The c-section frightens me, but of course I am super excited to meet our daughter and have my body back. Just two more nights of uncomfortable sleeping.

It was funny to me that your doc recommended hot baths. I have not taken one and I wanted to yesterday so bad, so I decided to give it a go. What a disaster. I am too big for my tub, water spilled everywhere, my back got stuck to the bottom of my tub like a suction cup and then it was almost impossible to hoist myself up. I can not wait until after delivery so I can enjoy a nice head to toe treatment at my spa. I am off to the spa now, but only my feet will benefit today. they are killing me so I need to go get a pre c-section pedicure and eyebrow wax so I can look good for all the pics coming soon!

I hope everyone is well, and I will update you guys after my pre-op appt at the hospital tomorrow afternoon.

Lostgirl - I have been wanting to take a bath, but have avoided them throughout this whole pregnancy because I was told not to take a bath right in the beginning because of the danger of raising mom's core temp too much. Do you have any guidelines about what temp to make the water? It seems like a bath would feel wonderful! Hope they have helped you...

Melissa,
The bath is just warm enough to warm up my tush, but I have to say it's not crazy hot. And considering that my ob-gyn herself took a nightly bath from week 28 till she gave birth at week 40, and she was the one to recommend the bath, I wouldn't worry~!

Also I have to say it's hard for me to worry when I can feel the baby move and hiccup while I'm in the bath soaking.

Hope we all give birth soon... Goodnight, Lostgirl

Hey my wondeful ladies. I am so sorry for being MIA for so long but I have been so busy with trying to close loose ends at work and just trying to get ready for baby.

Wow so much to catch up on.

ESPERANZA - "WHAAAT'S UPPPPP" my 2WW bud!!!!! When I read the post and saw that you were pregnant, I cried. My baby will have that college roomy after all. I knew it. I prayed so much for you, I knew God would answer my prayers once again. I am so happy for you. I guess you can see that things have been pretty eventful during my pregnancy but the baby is doing AWESOME. We know that it's a girl. Her name will be Michaela Skye and I am scheduled for a C-section at 1:00 on September 19th. I'm currently working the next few weeks from home so it's all good. Please keep us posted and let me know what thread you are on so I can follow you after this thread have had their babies. Will definately post pictures as soon as possible once my bundle is here.

CT_MICHELE - Girly you always said that you thought that you would be having that baby in August. As they say, Mom knows best. I am sending you much comfort for tomorrow's c-section and prayers to baby Ella. Please post ASAP to let us know how things went. You know I have already had a c-section and all went wonderful. You will be sore but a word of advise is that no matter how great the pain, you heal much better and faster if you get up and move about as much and as often as possible soon after. I am scheduled for my c-section on the 19th of September and can't wait. I am so ready to have this baby out so I am feeling normal again. The pelvic pain and the back pain that I am experiencing is aweful.

LostGirl/Elca - Hope you ladies are hanging tough. Not too much time left. LostGirl I think that you and I deliver around the same time so that week should make for interesting converation. I hope your nerve pains have eased after taking the doc advice.

Neffi -- If you are checking in, good luck on your journey to motherhood. I was excited to see that both you and Esperanza stuck with your dream of becoming Moms and it has now happened. Take care of yourself and good luck with next 5-6 months. The ride is alot but it is so worth it. Try not to worry and things will be ok. No stress.

As for me, I'm just hanging tough. Had an OB appointment on Friday and all was good. Although I am having a C-section, I was still given the Group B strep test. It wasn't bad at all. Baby is doing great and I am realy starting to pack on the pounds these last few weeks. I gained almost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. That was really scary. I am small so the added weight wasn't too bad but I hope it doesn't continue at that rate (smile). Not back to my OB until the 5th and than again on the 12th and one more visit the following week right before my Friday delivery.

CT -- Please let us know if it's a go for tomorrow. Just one more sleep and Welcome to Baby Ella!!! Good luck tomorrow if I don't catch you before than. I will say a prayer for you tonight.

Sorry if I've missed anyone.

Much love to all of you!!!

Well ladies, this will probably be my last post before I am officially a mom!

We had our pre-op appt at the hospital today. Our room is all ready and the nurse answered all our questions and told us the plan for tomorrow. We have to be at the hospital by 8am and our c-section is scheduled for 10. They said when we first get there they will start an iv and begin monitoring the baby. She said my doc's will show up between 9 and 9:30 and that is when they will do the ultrasound to do one final check on position. Then they will put a catheter in(which I am not looking forward to) and prep me for the surgery. We met with the anestialogist who made us nervous. He said that when someone is a bigger person (like myself) that sometimes it is hard to get the spinal in the right spot, and if that occurs, I would have to be put to sleep, which would be worst case scneario. I really hope that doesn't happen, but I think he was just telling us b/c he had to, not b/c he thought it would happen tomorrow.

They also told us that after the c-section, dh will get to hold her for 20-30 minutes while they finish and he could bring her close to my face. They said when we leave the operating room that the baby will go to the nursery for 5 hours of monitoring, so I will probably not have her in my room and in my arms until close to 5 pm. It will give me time to recovery, nap and prepare for the visiting who will all be banging down the door to meet Ella.

I will make sure to update you all as soon as possible. If they send us home I will post by noon to let you all know it did not happen. If you don't hear from me, you can assume I am delivering. We will have our laptop at the hospital, so I will post news and pics soon!

Neffi- thanks for crashing and wishing me luck. I am so happy your journey is on it's way as well, and please keep us posted on your progress.

Washingtonda- thanks for the prayers and wishes. It won't be very long until you all join me in the mommy club!

To everyone- lostgirl, elca, mlb, esperanza- your support and well wishes mean so much. Thank you for taking this journey with me, it is so nice to have people to talk to when you think no one else understands. I will keep you all posted!

Wow! I can't believe that one of us is actually holding her baby in her arms. Congrats Michelle, hope Ella is doing well and not testing out her lungs quite yet...can't wait to hear about your first few days.

And, the rest of us are just marking time going to work and counting down the days. Time sure moves slow these days for me!

I had a midwife appt yesterday and she decided that I need an u/s because I measured small (34cm at 38 wks) for the third week in a row. Of course she said it is just a precaution and not to worry...but I'm worried. The test is Friday afternoon. Meanwhile I'll kill time in the lab trying to get these lab procedures 'down'. It will be nice to come back from maternity leave and know what I am doing. Sometimes I wish for a stable job (one that lasts more than 9 mo or 1 year at a time) where I can just do the same thing month after month and be good at it!

Hope everyone else is hanging in there. Elca, you or I might be first. How are you feeling?

Hey Ladies!

Ella Michele is here and she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life! She came via c-section yesterday morning at 10:33 am, she weighed 6 lbs 3oz and was 19 3/4 inches long. It was amazing. The c-section itself was not as bad as I thought it would be. The catheter was my nemesis and the anestitialogist almost was unsuccessful with the spinal. He said he was on his last try until I had to be put out completely. I did not want that, so I held still and arched my back hard and it went. Then dh joined me and all was great. It went so fast and when I heard her cry, I cried too. Dh has taken hundreds of pics already and both of us are in this euphoric state right now. It is so unreal and I can not wait for all of you to experience your births.

I am already up and on very little pain meds for the c-section. It felt great to shower today and I am looking forward to more friends and family visiting today to meet our precious girl.

Dh, as I said, is going picture crazy and he already set up a website for Ella. It is ellamichele.shutterfly.com. Please go check out our beautiful girl! I will be around the next couple of days. We are in the hospital until Saturday morning, but we have our laptop with us and I am feeling good, so you all will probably here from me again. Thanks again for all of the well wishes and I hope you all enjoy the website.

Congratulations! Ella is a darling. I can't believe how intently she looks into the camera. No doubt there's a keen intelligence behind those eyes. And so many loved ones have met her already. Lucky girl.

What I can't get over is she was 6 pounds 3 ounces and still looks big to me, and yet, the baby inside me right now is at least that big, my ob-gyn predicts the ultrasound technician got it wrong and I'm carrying a 7 pounder at this point. So in 3 weeks, we could be looking at a 8 and 1/2 pounder. God help me!!!

Just got back from my week 37 appt, where I saw a colleague of my ob-gyn in her practice. (My regular ob-gyn gets back from vacation next week).

I'm 100 percent effaced (last week I wasn't at all). But I'm not dilated yet. I haven't felt any Braxton Hicks since I stopped exercising so maybe they'll start up again and that's how I'll know I'm dilating?

Are the rest of you ladies feeling false labor or B-H contractions often enough at this stage?

Anyway, during the exam, she touched the baby's head. Don't ask me how! and then said, wow, your pelvis must be big enough to accommodate your baby's head because it's waaayyy down low. Then she said something cheerful like, Good exam! and gave me a pat. It was bizarre. I had to stop myself from laughing out loud.

Hope everyone's well... And that Ella is liking the world. Lostgirl
