Hi Ladies,

Michelle - Ella is beautiful! I wish you a speedy recovery and a smooth transition home.

I got potentially terrible news today. Went for an u/s because my abdomen measurements are small. The baby is measuring 35 wks 6 days and I am 38 wks 6 days - but the problem is that there are a lot of cysts on the kidneys. Tenative diagnosis is polycystic kidney disease. It doesn't take a lot of googling to figure out that the form that an infant has (recessive PCKD) is usually fatal in the first month or so, if not the child is not 'healthy' and won't live even as long as those with cystic fibrosis. I can't stop crying. I am supposed to get a level 2 ultrasound Tuesday. OF COURSE my appt today would have been at 3:30, running late, so we discovered this problem at 4:30pm on Friday before a long weekend. The place I need to go is an hour away and I don't have an appt yet.

I'll keep you posted.
Melissa

MLB -- Please dont give up hope just yet. Pray that everything will be fine and that God will take care of you and that precious baby.

I was at aw when I read your post. I quickly jumped over to do a search on it and I'm not sure what to make of it all and wondered why this was just detected after all the sonos that we had.

I read that the diagnosis can be proven with an amnio or that CVS test. Have the doc mentioned doing any of those test to rule this out or to make sure that this is truly what they are seeing.

I know amnios take a while to get the test results back and you are very close to delivering but seems to me that they could order these test stat to give you a piece of mind.

Please hang in there and don't loose hope. You know that these docs and diagnosis are sometimes wrong.

Just pray and I will pray for you. God will take care of you and your baby.

Please keep us posted.

Much love to you when you need it most!!!

Esperanza - So glad to see that you still check in on us. I must admit that these boards truly form bonds that you would have never thought. How are things coming with your pregnancy. Great I hope. How far long are you and when is the baby due? I am just so happy for you and your DH. I see that many of the girls from our Dec/Jan thread who didn't get positives back than are now pregnanyt. You, Neffi, Unexplained. It's such a blessing. If you beleive, things will happen. God looks out for all good people.

As you know I am on my home stretch right now. My little girl wil be delivered via c-section on September 19th unless she decides to make her appearance before than. I have been off work since July 22nd and working from home because I started having contractions during that time. I am now on meds to stop labor and tomorrow is my last day of that. Tomorrow I will be 36 weeks pregnant and they advised that if I go into labor that she will be fine and they will not try and stop her if she wants to come. So i'm thinking anytime after stopping those pills tomorrow could be Michaela Skye's birthday. Although I am ready to get this pregnancy over, I truly don't want her to come before my scheduled c-section on the 19th. I know every day that she is safely inside is a added bonus to her health on the outside. I've waited this long, what is a few more weeks.

This have been a long road. Many cases of worrying and stress because you want your little one to be just perfect after all that we have gone through to get them here. I feel today like I have completed the journey and in some ways a big weight have been lifted. I know it's not over until it's over but I feel so blessed to have made it this far and that to date Michaela seems to be perfectly fine.

Hang in there girly. Some days are uneventful and others are hectic but always do what you feel in your heart is best for you and your baby and God will see you through. I will say thank you to him again today for all of us who took on this big task and stuck with it long enough to acheive what it was that we set out to do and that was to have beautiful babies.

Well I could go on and on because I am feeling so great about everything this morning. Please let me know what thread you are on now and I will stick with you and a few of the other girls from our old thread until the end. I will be taking my laptop with me to the hospital so be looking for some pictures of our precious little one on the 19th or the 20th.

MLB -- May heart is with you as you wait for answers. You, DH and that precious baby are in our prayers. Just beleive.

Much love to all of you wonderful women!!!

Thank you all for your support. I am praying that the ultrasound was misleading...but of course from our IVF experience I was able to recognize the cysts as such. Last night was rough. I woke up to go to the bathroom and then remembered and proceeded to cry for the next 2 hours. It is amazing how my physical annoyances go away when I concentrate on how awful it would be to lose this little one.

Try to enjoy these last few days or weeks as silly as that sounds. I will continue to keep you updated on our situation (won't know anything until Tuesday unless the baby comes earlier). Anyone cleaning the house like a madperson?

MLB,
Hang in there. My thoughts are with you. You'll know more on Tuesday and see whether the u/s was misleading or whether your baby is actually in danger. I'm just so sorry you have to go through this right now. It's hard to hang on to one's sanity.

A big hug, Lostgirl

Doreen!! my 2ww bud! yes, our children will be college roommates after all :D

I've been fine for the most part, although I must say that after loosing one baby and going through 2 failed cycles, it is hard not to think the worst at times. I try to keep positive about this pregnancy, and I do feel positive about it, but everytime I go to the bathroom I check for spotting (thank God I haven't had any, except for implantation bleeding!).

This pregnancy has been very different from my first one. "Morning" sickness do not abandon me!!! they are aweful. I can't even look at or smell chicken, it makes me so nauseous just the thought of it (and I used to eat chicken on a regular basis before getting pregnant). My breast are ultra sensitive (more so than during my first pregnancy), and of course I get tired easily and sleep lots.

I'll be 9 weeks on Wednesday. My due date is 4/8/09. I have an ultrasound schedule for tomorrow. I'm excited and a bit nervous, I'm praying the baby is healthy and has continued to grow. Last u/s was wonderful, we saw and heard the heartbeat, it was so exciting! the u/s technician was very happy, she said that the baby was perfect. I'm so thankful.

I haven't joined any thread yet, don't ask me why. Maybe I'm still scared. I think I will join the April 09 one after tomorrow's ultrasound. I will let you know. Thank you for thinking of me and saying a prayer for me. I agree, God is good, even though we don't always understand what's going on.

DH and I have moved to New Mexico. It's been good for the most part, except for some drama with my mom (who's visiting and will be leaving in 2 weeks). She's lovely and has been helpful, but Oh Lord...she can be difficult too :(

Anyway, I wish you the best in the next couple of weeks as you wait for Michaela's arrival (by the way that was my paternal grandmother's name!). I will keep an eye on this thread to check on you, MLB, LostGirl, and Michelle (+ Ella).

MLB-- honey, I've been thinking of you and your little one every day. I'm praying hard for you, the baby, and your dh. Like WashingtonDA said, please believe! Sending you lots of love.

Lots of love to all my beautiful soon to be/new mamas on this thread.

Caligirl and Elca:
You are both getting awfully close to your due dates? Any signs of progress? Effacement? Dilation? Bloody show? Fake labor?

Melissa: Any news yet about your more detailed u/s? I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best for you and your dh. Lostgirl

Hey Ladies,

I wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing, it is finally september and you ladies should be close to having your bundles arrive! I also wanted to let you know how my new family is doing. Thank you all for your wonderful comments regarding Ella.

Everything has been great so far. We came home from the hospital on saturday morning. We had tons of visitors at the hospital and the steady stream of family has continued up until today. This morning we had our first pediatrician appt. It went excellent. She was born weighing 6 lbs 3 oz, and left the hospital weighing 5 lbs 13 oz. Today she was back up to 6 lbs 7 oz (while wearing a wet diaper) so I think she was close to birth weight today. The dr said that was great since babies usually reach back to birth weight by 2 weeks and today is one week. All of her reflexes are good too. She is eating and sleeping alot. It is like clockwork, every four hours, she eats. She barely cries, and dh and I have been able to get plenty of sleep despite what we were warned about. We just eally lucked out, ivf success on the first try, great pregnancy, great labor and recovery (I have been up and around since the day after the c-section with almost no limitations and almost no pain medicine since I have come home), easy baby...

DH has been wonderful. He is cooking dinner now. He has been taking care of laundry and doing a lot of cooking. He prepares all of our bottles ahead of time (we do 24 hrs of bottles at a time). Ella actually likes her formula cold, so we don't even have to heat it. We have a small cooler that plugs into the wall in our bedroom, so we don';t even have to go downstairs at night for a bottle, everything is right within reach. I am so glad dh has this time off. He won't go back to work until atleast oct. 18, so we are just enjoying this time as a family and getting use to the adjustment.

Sorry about the length of this post, I just wanted to catch up while I can.

Esperanza- Sorry to hear about the morning sickness, but I know you are happy to have it after all you have been through. I am glad your move went well and please let us know about your most recent u/s.

MLB- I am very sorry to hear your news, but hopefully you got good news today at your level 2 u/s. Please let us know soon, we are all praying for you.

Washingtonda- Sept 19 is coming fast. We will be looking for those pics from the hospital. Bringing our laptop to the hopsital was the best idea we had. Technology is awesome. Besides for the shutterfly picture website, dh also put up another youtube video that I forgot to mention. It is from the first day at the hospital and then all of her visitors. You can see it by going to youtube and searching for ella michele.

Lostgirl- I hope your doing well too. You are right about her liking the camera, and it's a good thing because dh likes to take pics, a lot of them!

Well ladies, I am going to eat and play with Ella. I will try and post again soon and will continue to check for updates.

Good News!

We just got back from the special Dr. with the level 2 u/s who pronounced that we had nothing to worry about. In fairness to the Dr. in Ithaca, the baby's kidneys are a little light in color but they are a normal size and the
baby's bladder is full and the amniotic fluid level is normal. There is a
ring of light color around the kidneys (fat) that is not seen in younger
babies that might have looked alarming on the ultrasound machine that is
here in Ithaca that is (much) cruder than the one they used today. The
Dr. in today didn't order any tests before the baby is born nor did he
suggest any special treatment for the baby after birth. DH and many others in my family are pretty mad at my doctor that put a name to a potential problem and freaked us out. I agree that she might have just said that there was something she wanted to get checked more thoroughly and left it at that - but it was 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and she wanted to still talk to the other Dr. to see if I needed to rush there (1 hr away) after hours and she was gathering info. I would rather her be wrong but act on anything that appears abnormal.

Thank you all for your wonderful support. We have many fantastic friends both here and online that we appreciate very much.

Michelle - SO glad that everything is going well for you and DH. I hope it continues to go smoothly and can't wait to hear updates. Enjoy this time with your new family, you deserve it!

Everyone else, our time will be here soon. It doesn't feel that way...but a month from now we will all be wondering what hit us.

Esperenza - congrats again on your pregnancy and big move. Both are adventures for sure.
Melissa

ok, I'm super tired, but I could not go to bed without knowing about MLB...YES!!! I'm so happy. Thank God your little one is doing well. :D Great, great news.

My ultrasound went really well today as well, thank God! We saw the baby, (it's amazing how much s/he has grown in 2 weeks...we were able to see the head, the little arms, little legs, etc) and heard the heartbeat again. Everything is going well. I think I will join the April 09 thread so you can follow my progress there.

Best wishes to all of you in the next few weeks as you await for your precious ones to make an entrance in this world. Hugs and love all around.

MLB,
I am so happy that the second u/s gave you great news. What a wild week you've had. I do hope that you are feeling better emotionally and are looking forward to meeting your little one.

CTmichele, Sounds like Ella is a superstar. Sleeping 4 hours at at time. What a girl! I still can't believe how alert she looks in your many pics. NO sleepy newborn eyes for her. She was looking straight at your dh's camera.

Esperanza, Isn't it amazing how much they change at your stage. It's like from moment to moment they are transforming. Make sure to eat right to give your baby the building blocks s/he needs. I found myself eating a ton of spinach and lots of beef too. Eggs as well. Protein ! Iron! Then I went through a calcium craving phase, where every snack was a yogurt with honey.

I can't wait for the baby! I went through some grumpiness this past long weekend. But now I'm more emotionally calm and just ready for the baby to arrive. We have a breastfeeding class tonite from 6-9. Not sure I'll be able to stay the whole time, since sciatica still rules my life. I can't walk or sit for too long without shooting pain on the left side. BUt hopefully I'll be soooo captivated by the breastfeeding tips I'll focus on that instead. :)

all the best, Lostgirl
