Hi ladies, I've been MIA as usual so not too many personals.

Leora - Big :( face for you! I'm with the other ladies, I would want some additional testing done. You're not crazy - it's a protective mechanism kicking in. And yes, I agree that though it's never EASY, now is a much easier time to say goodbye.

AFM - we were visiting family over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. We saw The Muppets and I was extremely pleased that DD enjoyed it. Then on Monday, we finally got a call with biopsy results from our doctor! 7 normal embryos, or 44%, which is in the range that they expected. The interesting thing is that of the abnormals, there were no trisomies. They all had chromosomal deletions. The doc said the quality of the normal embies ranged from very good to fantastic, and asked how we felt about twins if we decide to transfer 2. DH and I have discussed this and we both agree that we'd prefer twins to a failed transfer of a single embryo. I'm a little bummed about our transfer date - January 5th. Their lab is closed between Christmas and New Year's, and the only date they had open before that wouldn't work because I would have needed to stop my BCP already. But it's nice to have a calendar again.

Oh, and to add to the questions:

1. Your Birthday? Feb 3
2. Favorite Hobby or Sport? reading, sewing, yoga, golf, scuba diving
3. Favorite food/chocolate? Anything Indian and spicy/almond Snickers
4. Best all time movie? Steel Magnolias
5. Your dream vacation getaway? South Africa

Cheers to you all,
Amy

Amy- that is wonderful! And yep, it sucks that you can't transfer until Jan 5th, but still, that is right around the corner! So, when would you start the shots....a week before or is it longer for FET? or shorter? I've heard it both ways. Different clinics do things differently all of the time, so I haven't figured out the norm yet.

Leora: I am so sorry....I am not one to cuss...but there is a stream of such words in my head at the moment. I am not going to say the usual cliches....just (((HUGS))) And I understand 100% your focus on moving ahead as soon as possible. Hope you get to zero quickly and RE on board with next cycle soon. None of this is "fair". None of this is how you planned or visioned your path to motherhood. But you are doing the best job imaginable. I very nearly threw in the towel last summer after my m/c with IVF#3 because of the pain. You hang in there. Surround yourself with loving and supportive family and friends. Hold tight to wonderful David. Vent, cry, scream whenever this crazy process gets too much--and know you are totally normal when you do. Then, look forward: New start, new year, new cycle=your rainbow baby.

Laura - no shots at all for my FET cycle! I've never had to use Lupron for an FET, my estrogen will be in the form of Vivelle patches, and my clinic uses progesterone suppositories instead of PIO shots. Something for you to request if you ever have to do a FET. :) Hang in there for that 2ww!

Shari – I’ve never heard of trigger shots during the 2WW either, I certainly didn’t have that during either of my fresh cycles, or my FETs. Roll on end of the 2WW!

LauraN – That’s how I feel. Although the full/bloated feeling has been slightly less today but my boobs are definitely more sore than when I got my BFN so here’s hoping, although like you, I know it’s really early to be getting some of these symptoms...As for how you count the days post transfer, day 1 is the day after your transfer, so today (Weds) I am 6dp5dt as my FET was 1 Dec so you must be 5dp3dt. If I’d transferred embryos I would have been told to POAS (we don’t get a BET here – annoying!) 14 days after transfer, but as we transferred 2 blasts, I am told to POAS 12 day post transfer, so 13th Dec....half was through and counting!...ooh, just read your later post – we will be POAS’ing on the same day! I hope it’s good luck for both of us!

Leora – I am so sorry to read your news. I miscarried at 8 weeks, I had a blighted ovum so they could see a sac but nothing in it. We were devastated but I know what you mean about just being desperate to start again – all the waiting makes everything worse. I am so sorry for all of your heartbreak. Hang in there...

Ninde – Thank you for your message. I had acupuncture during my first fresh IVF cycle, as did my DH for low motility, poor morphology and we definitely think it helped. My DH’s sperm improved so we didn’t need ICSI in the end and if nothing else, I felt really relaxed.

Bonnieucwv – 13 eegs is a great number, good that you don’t feel terrible, I felt awful after both my egg collections. Keep us posted on fert rates. I have my fingers crossed for you.

Neffi211 – Good luck for Friday.

Everyone else, I am reading all of your posts and sending positive vibes across the atlantic! Baby dust to all.
xx

Hi all - I've been much more active on past boards. I've checked in periodically to see how everyone is doing but have pretty much been a silent stalker for the last 6 months. Sorry to fall off the radar :( We have been working on our first egg donor cycle and we had MANY delays geting things going. I kept waiting until I really knew we were going to start before I wanted to start posting again in here and then things got really crazy with the cycle and with work and life all at the same time so posting never happened. We were doing a split cycle with our donor - so we only got half of the eggs she produced. A little risky but the costs were much more reasonable. The donor had her retrieval 11/23 and for our half we got 9 eggs, 8 were mature enough to inject and we found out on Thanksgiving morning that 7 fertilized!! We were VERY excited and thankful indeed :) And we got to have a 5 day transfer - which I never got with any of my IVF cycles! On Monday 11/28 we found out that all 7 were still going - 3 looking great and 4 looking good. We transferred the 3 best and have been saying lots of prayers ever since! Over the weekend I broke down and took a pregnancy test. Sunday the test was BFP!!! I think I've probably taken close to 100 pregnancy tests and have never seen the 2nd line so I was in a bit of shock! I've been waiting and continuing to take pregnancy tests daily until our beta results. The nurse just called and the beta is 309!!! I'm SO excited! I know we still have a long way to go but I couldn't be more happy right now! I go back on Friday for my 2nd beta - looking forward to it.

I'm going to catch up on what is going on here (again) - baby dust to all in the meantime :)

Leora - so sorry to hear your news - you have been through so much :( I hope the doctors can give you more answers on what is going on and where to go from here. ((((BIG hugs)))) to you!

Shari - I just had a friend tell me that her doctor had her doing some sort of hcg cocktail of shots during her 2 ww too. They weren't really sure the reason for it but she knew that she couldn't doing any POAS because they would come out positive even if she wasn't preggo. It worked for her - she had a healthy baby girl a few months back. I had never heard of this before - so I think it must be something relatively new. I wonder if the hcg tricks your body into thinking it is pregnant so it does more to prepare your body for the baby???
