Hi all

Welcome to Bridget Jones - whereabouts in Surrey are you and where are you having tmt? I am in Chessington and having DE tmt at Woking Nuffield this time round. Anna is a Surrey girl too.

Wanda - what date do you have for ET? I should be 7th March all being well....

My question for the day is - has anyone has acupuncture on the actual day of ET? My acupuncturist says there have been studies to show it increases the success rate considerably. I firmly believe it helped me get my BFP last time round but I didnt have it on the actual day. Anyway - I have found a few articles - here is one -

www.naturalgynae.com/nav6_fact18.html

Logistically I wouldn't be able to have it both before and after ET but certainly on the same day would be feasible.
Any thoughts?

Hi to everyone else too - time to do some work now, back later
Lots of love

Hi Kat, I'm in South Croydon, so not a million miles away from you.
I'm having the ET done at the Lister hosptial with the natural bits at the Zita West clinic, where they too reccomend acupuncture on the day of the transfer.
I will be having acu before on the day, but as you say logistically it's hard to plan afterwards as well.
They have published a leaflet saying that their stats prove that the success rate is improved greatly when acu is performed on the same day. It certainly does relax you and warms up the uterus doesn't it, so I guess it makes sense.
I'm embarrased to ask this next question as I know you are all experts, but I'm worried about the journey home -and to and from the acu appointment after the tranfer. Do bumpy journeys on the day of the transfer make any difference whether it be in a car, train, or tube? :

Hello Ladies:

The activity has really picked up on this thread lately. I'm so glad to read all of the news of upcoming cycles. It is snowing here today! We are supposed to get 4 - 7" by this evening. I'm staying inside today.

Bridget: Welcome to our site. Good luck on your next cycle.

Kat: Your ET date is a few days after my due date, as my due date is March 3rd. Hopefully March will be a very wonderful month for both of us.

Caz: How are you doing on your 2ww? That is the longest 2 weeks ever. Of course I'm just trying to get through the last 3.5 weeks here. The few weeks of pregnancy seem to just drag on and on. You can't sleep, you have to pee every hour.

Yasmina: How are you doing? You poor thing.............still working. I don't think I could stand having to teach for hours on end. I am kept busy at home with my two online courses. This allows me to nap when needed.

Catharine: Good luck on your cycle.

Wanda: Good luck on your upcoming cycle also.

Ellen: Any news?

Bev: I am so anxious to hear from you. I sure hope that you are doing well and that your little lamb is doing well also.

Anna: How are you doing? How is your 3rd trimester going? The 2nd trimester was a breeze compared to this one.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hi Tammy
Yes it is the longest 2 weeks ever - I cant seem to focus on anything else for very long - my husband is fed up with me being on the computer all of the time as it means he hardly gets to use it himself now. My clinic says to test 16 days after et - but i dont know if I would be able to wait that long if af hasnt shown before - would be nice to get a bfp on the 14th eh!
I have all of the normal symptoms that everyone seems to get at the mo - cramps - shooting pains - back ache etc.
Hoping and praying for a bfp on this 3rd transfer - I would love a little boy like your having as I have 2 girls already. Good luck with the birth - I was 3 weeks early having Jasmine my second daughter who is now 4 years old - it was great as I know what you are going through - the last month is the worst eh - again good luck for an easy birth and enjoy it!!

JUST THOUGHT I'D DROP IN AND THANK THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE POSTED (PRAYERS ON WELL WISHES ON OTHER PAGES AND ALSO TO GIVE ANYONE WHO'S EVER HAD A BFN A RAY OF HOPE. I'M 41 (DH IS 37), AND JUST GOT OUR 1ST BFP!!! THROUGH FAILED IUI'S AND THEN CANCELLED CYCLES BECAUSE OF NO FERTILIZATION, IT FINALLY WORKED! PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP HOPE AND KEEP PRAYING I KNOW I NEEDED BOTH OF THOSE THINGS TO GET US THIS FAR. THIS TIME WAS DIFFERENT FOR US BECAUSE IN MY HEART I REALLY BELIEVE I PUT IT IN GOD'S HANDS. MY DH AND I AGREED THIS WAS THE "LAST" CHANCE. WE DID A "FLARE" PROTOCAL (for the 1st time ever) AND I DID ACUPUNCTURE FOR THE 1ST TIME TOO. WHATEVER THE COMBINATION, SO FAR SO GOOD. I WAS MUCH MORE RELAXED AND I SWEAR THAT IT HELPED. BEFORE ET I GOT A MASSAGE AND DID LOTS OF PRAYING. AFTER ET YOU LAY THERE FOR 2 HOURS, SO I DID A LOT MORE PRAYING!!! HECK, ALL I KNOW IS IT WORKED AND I'M GIVING CREDIT TO GOD, AND MY DR. & HIS STAFF.....I JUST HOPE I READ MORE BFP'S ON THIS AND MANY OTHER THREADS IN THE NEAR FUTURE!

REGARDING TAKING THE HPT'S - MY OPINION - DON'T DO IT!!!! THEY DON'T WORK, IT'S TO EARLY. I TOOK A HPT THE MORNING OF MY BLOOD WORK, IT WAS NEGATIVE, THEN I GET THE CALL MONDAY AFTERNOON AND IT WAS A BFP. THIS IS SUCH A ROLLER COASTER RIDE THE WAY IT IS.....IT'S JUST NOT WORTH THE UPS AND DOWNS AND UNKNOWS OF A TEST YOU CAN'T REALLY RELY ON.

BEST WISHES TO ALL!

Hey gals - May I join you for a short while? I'm 41 and DH is 38 - we've been trying for 2.5 years. We're on IVF#3, XFR'd 3 at 8cell gr.2, 7cell gr.2 and 4cell, gr. 3. The embies were our best quality yet on a short (I think "flare") protocol. Last time, RE expressed concern that since we'd only gotten at best 6 cell gr. 2 the prior 2 times, that perhaps my eggs are just too "seasoned," so to speak. However, we regained hope with the quality this cycle.

Although I gained some hope from Wisconsigal's recent post, I'm now at 14dpER and 11dp3dt and the POAS this a.m. was BFN (again!). I would think that by now it would have shown up....My RE moved up my beta from Friday (14dp3dt) to tomorrow (12dp3dt) - basically to put me out of my misery.... I've had a really good PMA this whole time, but today, I'm ready to crack after seeing yet another BFN...

Any thoughts? Should we keep at it? DNK whether I'm ready to embrace altenative routes...

Lisa in PC.

Kat I don't have a date yet I am still trying to figure out this ivf calander w/DE I am on day 23 of Lupron and the DE should be on day 8 of her meds. I expect to get a call next week to start the meds for the uterus lining. How did it go with you or anyone else using DE. I welcome any experience in this field. Wanda

Hi

Wisconsingal! Excellent news - congratulations - may you have a smooth run through the next 8 months!

Bridget - I was told that your embie in the womb is like a pea in a pot of honey - you can't shake it out however much you try. If you think of non-IVF people they wouldn't know anything about whether they have a fertilised embie in there so they wouldn't make any changes - we just are so much more conscious of what 's going on we have many more things to worry about. That's what I tell myself anyway. I am def going for acupuncture on the day of ET, I have been reading up more on the subject, unfortunately ET will be in Woking and acu in Southfields but hey ho - I'll work it out somehow!

Wanda - I have baseline scan this Fri after 2 weeks of buserelin injections to keep womb lining thin- then I start progynova tablets for a coupe of weeks and reduce the buserelin to start building the lining ready for ET (I think).

Welcome to Lisa in PC & sorry to see your BFN. AS to whether you should keep going - the clinic will be able to advise and only you can decide. We thought we had given up all ideas of trying again until we got the call to say there was a possible donor and we just couldn't let that go. Also I just needed to give it one last go to know we had tried everything. The decision to go with donor eggs in our case wasn't an easy one and it took a while for me to accept I would never have my genetic child but the need overcomes those feelings. Anna here got a BFN at first but then it later turned to a positive so hopefully it's not over yet for you.

Caz - hang in there!

Hi to everyone else too,

Thanks Kat,
you've put my mind at rest- I've was so stressed before when having tmt abroad, (Romania), where I was worryng about every bump on the road and the flight to and from, I'm sure the stress of the worry was far more damaging than the journey.
Have you taken a natural killer cell test at all?
My results show I'm borderline over the recommended amount and am confused as to whether to go onto the course of steriods, which has proven to reduce the the number of cells, but to me sounds more harmful than the presence of the nk cells.
Meanwhile, the coldest weather for a century is on the way, and we're having a new boiler installed- great timing-brrrhhh.
Thanks to everyone also for making me feel so welcome - you are all an inspiration- if only there was a message board like this for every aspect of our lives.
Thoughts and prayers
BJ
