I'm 42 (horrors!) and I'm in the prep phase for an IVF. I start the injectables 11/25. My CD3 FSH count is 6, can't remember E2.

My hubby and I just married in January, got preg in April, and lost the baby in June. It took 9 weeks before I had AF back and just this past month before I had a REAL period with a normal cycle length. I tried Clomid last month with a trigger shot, no luck. We're pulling out the big guns now on doctor's advice.

The rollercoaster ride that is trying to conceive is soo stressful. I feel better about everything now-I'm on birth control pills for a couple more weeks, off for 5 days, then shots. I hate scheduled sex (well, it was very stressful). I just want the doctor to take over!

Anyway, enough about me.

Let's hear some more BFPs!!!!

Hello to all,

I'm 36 and have been TTC for three+ years, with a diagnosis of unexplained infertility. Our first IVF was last August, and I was excited to get a BFP. I didn't have tons of eggs (8 retrieved, 4 fertilized, 2 made it to transfer), but one "took." Sadly, at my 11 week routine appt, my dr. found that the baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks and there was no longer a heartbeat. Devastating.

I've been coping by "doing." First order of business: trying to understand why this happened. I had to have a D&C, so we are having the remains karyotyped. My RE has been great, and fully supports any testing to understand why this happened even though this is my first M/C. My husband and I are getting karyotyped as well. I also want to undergo immune testing - I have a mild autoimmune disorder and I really wonder if that might be playing a role in my fertility problems.

One of the hardest things right now is waiting to start again - I'd start tomorrow if I could, but will need to wait at least 2 months.

Anyway, like boo said, enough about me :) I am so very thankful for this board - it really helps to know there are other ladies out there who know how frustrating infertility can be. Best wishes to all of you, and hugs to those who are frustrated by failed tries or hurting because of a M/C.

All,
I had my ER yesterday. I had 4 eggs. I just heard from my nurse today, and out of the four two are a bust, one is so far multiplying and the other hasn't responded just yet. I am sore today. So all I am doing is laying on the couch and watching the TV inbetween sleeping. I haven't even showered yet, which is something I always do no matter how I feel. My body is just saying relax, so I will. Hubby hasn't been too helpful which makes me a little upset, and I start to wonder if this is really what I want and should expect. Tonight, I start the progestrone shots. We'll see how that goes. Monday is ET so we shall see what happens.

Grey and Boo1 welcome to the group!

I hope all is well for the rest of you.

Cindy - it sounds as though you are having a bit of a rough time. Keep up the faith!!! I know it is cliche but you do only need one!! It is hard when you don't get as many embies as expected but at least there is one (maybe two) for transfer. As for DH, I think many women on this board will say that DH isn't always as supportive as we need them to be but I think a large part of that is them feeling helpless. My DH told me that he wishes more than anything in the world that he could make this happen for us but he can't so instead he continues on like nothing special is going on. After many explanations I think he finally understands that I need his support during this process. Maybe just have a chat with DH. I am sure it has nothing to do with his disinterest - more to do with the fact that he can't do anything to make you feel better or make this IVF thing work! Hang in there sweetie! Best of luck with ET on Monday!

Grey - I am so sorry to hear about your m/c. That is very upsetting! I hope that the testing will provide you with some answers.

Boo1 - sounds like you are good shape for your IVF. All the best with it!

Cindy - how did ER go?

Mandy - how is the 2ww? hope you are doing well!!

I am just enjoying the weekend! I go back on Monday for my day 10 u/s so I am excited to see how my follies are growing!

HI all. Sad news. The one that we hoped for is no longer and the other egg never took. So my journey is clearly ending. I can no longer continue in all the up's and down's, medications and rearranging schedules of doctors. This has been a long journey almost 7 years. So, I know in my heart it's time to move onward.

I thank all of you for your support, and wish you all well and to receive the desire of a baby.

Next, we are going to try (one more time) foster care and adoption. So we shall see what will come our way.

Love to each of you.

Hi Cindy,
I'm very sorry to hear about your cycle ending without success. It's just so hard sometimes. I'm wishing you much happiness whatever your next step is.
Grey, I was also very sorry to hear about you m/c.
I've lost track, how is everyone else doing? KellyM, how is your progress? I'm on day 2 of stims, so far so good.

Cindy, I am so sorry that it didn't work out this round. Best of luck with the foster care and adoption routes!

2ndtimer, glad to hear that things are progressing well so far.

Today I was in for my day 10 u/s and things are moving along. They saw 10 follies today, 8 of which range from 1.3 to 1.6 and then a couple of smaller ones so I am feeling very positive! I would imagine that I'll trigger either Thursday or Friday. I go back on Wednesday for my day 12 u/s so I am sure we'll have a better idea then how things are looking.

Hi Angela,

I am 35 and just completed my first IVF cycle which was converted to an iui due to poor response to the meds. and it was a BFN. We go in on Thursday to discuss options. I have a friend in Boston who got a BFP on her 4th ifv cycle and she is under 35. I still have a lot of hope, although i only had one decent follical last cycle. I am hoping they will change up the meds and protocol and i will have a better response next time.

Thanks to all for the kind words :)

I just wanted to leave a little story about adoption for Cindy and Pumma and anyone else who might be thinking about going that route. One of my friends at work went through 4 rounds of IVF several years ago and responded very poorly. She and her husband finally decided they'd had enough and adopted two infants from Korea. Their children are now 7 and 9. She has told me more than once that she is very thankful IVF didn't work for her because otherwise she wouldn't have these wonderful kids.

Although I'm still committed to the IVF journey for at least a while longer, I hold that story in the back of my mind; it gives me some comfort and hope for what can be, even if this current path doesn't work out.

Good luck to those of you who are stimming or in the 2WW, and best wishes to all.
