Shari: I know, its mad isnt it, if I failed it but got pregnant I wouldnt give a toss!
2nd timer: wow, how wierd is that, I read at night too but mostly can't concentrate, although its a pretty good book, all about how difficult it is being a mum and how you completely lose your former life and become completely unattractive. ("The Seven Year Itch" written by a married couple - I can recommend it). Trying to convince myself in preparation for a possible negative. So far, not working of course...
Just a small correction: Angela38(since Monday!) but I havent changed my name, because I dont know how.
Fiona: welcome to the thread and LOADS of luck for tomorrow!!! How old are you as you say oldest mother, about 90 or something? We're all getting on a bit on here...
Ros: Hi! I see you are from Manchester which is where I lived from 1988 (did my degree at the Metropolitan University) up until 2003 when I moved to Germany to get married. I get really nostalgic. Excellent news about the egg sharing programme. I saw a report on it last week on "A Child at all Costs". It's actually being shown in Germany now.
Me and DH: 42
2006: 2 ectopics
2007-08: 2 IVFs, 4 FETs: all BFNs
approved for adoption
2009: IVF 3 - BFP!
Adam born 26 April 2010
5 frosties left
2012: FET - BFP! miscarriage at 8 weeks
2 remaining frosties didn't survive
Gearing up for foster care
Oh no Fiona - is it proper bleeding or just brown spotting?
Angela - I actually live in New Mills (15 miles east of Manchester) and go to a clinic in Manchester. I have only lived up here for 2 years now (am a southerner) but I love it up here. I am hoping that sharing my eggs hasn't reduced my chances - my clinic assure me that it doesn't and the stats are just the same. They don't let you share your eggs if you don't produce enough. I think the only thing is that it meant I had less embryos to freeze. I don't ever meet the recipient - the clinic matches us physically. I do get to find out if it works for her though as potentially I could have a genetic child try to contact me in 18 years.
Hi guys - got this off another website (gettingpregnant.co.uk) - early signs of pregnancy to look out for. Are any of you experiencing any of these?
Early pregnancy signs can often be very similar to those experienced pre-menstrually. And whilst some women say they knew as soon as their egg was fertilised, others claim they felt nothing at all until well after their missed period. To confuse matters further, some say they were never more sure their period was just around the corner than when they were actually pregnant. And many women carry on having light periods up to six months into pregnancy.
Nevertheless, here are some of the symptoms that may be experienced in early pregnancy once implantation has occurred:
* Sore Nipples or Breasts: darkening of the area around the nipple. Greater appearance of veins in the breast.
* More Frequent Need to Urinate: due to increased blood flow to the pelvic region seems to irritate the bladder long before there is any physical pressure in the area)
* Light Spotting: this usually occurs about 8 days after ovulation and/or around the time your period is due
* Extreme Fatigue: although bear in mind that this can be due to progesterone that is present after ovulation
* Heightened Sense of Smell: this often results in nausea
* Nausea or Sickness: this can a reaction to certain smells, and can take be experienced, not only in the morning, but throughout the day
* A Metallic Taste in the Mouth: you may also experience a change in the foods you like or dislike
* Discomfort or Cramping in the Abdomen: some women describe this early pregnancy symptom as a "dragging" feeling
Today I'm feeling like I just want to wrap myself up in a bubble and hibernate until my beta test. However I must say that work has been my saving grace and really taken my mind off it. The first cycle we did was mostly during my vacation, and all I did was obsess.
I had one day last week of painful cramping, and today it's all just mild cramping. Anyone else cramping out there? Amazing how we analyze our symptoms. Standing in front of the mirror, saying 'Dang, my breasts are not veiny!' Well, so much for not obsessing. Man, what we go through!
Anyway, lots of luck to all, and once again, Fiona, hang in there sweety.
Fiona - make sure you do that test. As 2nd timer said plenty of women get BFPs having bled. Good luck for today!!
Shari - not cramping yet - have felt slight twinges and wondered whether anything is happening down there. Still bloated. I keep inspecting my boobs and have convinced myself that my nipples have gone slightly brown ish.
I don't think cramping is necessarily a bad sign so don't worry too much!
I did test this morning but it all went wrong. I didn't test first thing as my little one got me up at 5.50am and not realising the time, I went to the loo then. I did test an hour later and got the faintest faintest line but I was still bleeding. I rang the clinic who said I should test again on Saturday as it may be too early and advised me to up my suppositories.
So I still don't know what's going on and IT'S DOING MY HEAD IN!!!!
Even a faint line means you are probably pregnant doesn't it? That is good news - you weren't even going to test last night. Hopefully by Sat the line will be much darker and you will not be bleeding. Is the bleeding still really light and brown?
Laivf
I started very mild cramping today - so mild that i am not even sure it is there. Still starting to worry about it. I don't think cramping is a really bad sign.
Fiona-
As long as you are pretty certain a line was there, albeit faint, it probably means you're pregnant! Many times in early pregnancy the line is quite faint until you build up lots of HCG in urine. Also, did you drink a lot before? That could've diluted your urine even further.
Pullin' for ya, hon! Sit tight and do something fun. I always buy some makeup or nice smelling creams when I'm down. Point is, relax as much as possible and be kind to yourself .
Thanks everyone for your kind words. The bleeding was heavier this morning but seems to have stopped now so who knows. My boobs are quite sore but this could be a progesterone side effect. It's a bit mean that the drugs mimic pregnancy symptoms.
Am trying to relax but not easy with 3 kids. Even if this doesn't work for me take heart ladies. I am proof that it does work - 3 times. My infertility is unexplained but I think it must be me as my youngest is from my second marriage.
I am sure I must be the oldest on this thread - I am 44 in January. Aaaaaaaagh.
Yes, I have been cramping on and off. Today I had a bout for a few minutes which was pretty uncomfortable. And yes, it is similar to a period cramp. Last IVF cycle, my cramping was much worse, and it was a BFN. Well, LA, I'm pulling for us both!! Maybe it's two embies cozying up in our respective uterii that are causing the discomfort. Time will tell .
Rest well, and baby dust to all,
Shari
