Hello Pumma & adjec,

Welcome to our site. Our due dates are close together. My date is June 30th. I had to have an emergency scan Saturday because I started spotting last Wednesday. I did see 1 baby but it was too early to hear a heart beat. I will have another ultrasound this Friday and hopefully everything will be alright. My RE said that the bleeding is coming from the placenta and I might bleed the entire pregnancy. He also told me to take it easy put my feet up and relax. I did that all weekend and it stopped. I woke up early this morning and guess what, more spotting...! The good thing is that it is old brownish blood and my RE said I will be ok as long as it remains brownish.

I hope you ladies are feeling alright. As far as pregnanacy symptoms, I have had symptoms (nausea, BB sore, and slight cramping) starting day one after ET. I am very sensitive. The nausea has subsided but it does come and go sometimes. I just had my beta drawn again yesterday and it was 6245, which is good because it is still rising. So long story short, I am trying not to panic!

Everyone else take care and I hope all is well!

Angela - Definitely scary with the bleeding. I'm telling you...everytime I go to the bathroom I am paranoid I'm going to see something. But...so far, so good. Keeping my fingers crossed for sure! My first beta was 340, second was 1300, and my last one yesterday was 9700. I hate that I have to wait until next Tuesday for my next scan! lol It's like I got so used to going several times a week, it was almost a comfort! I'm so glad there are a few of us with such close due dates! Definitely will help having others to compare notes with!

Good luck on Friday! I hope everything goes well! Have my fingers crossed for you!

Hey Ladies,
I started this wonderful thread and have been out of touch for weeks.
I was at a meeting in Cali for a week for work then returned home to get a bad stomach virus. Yuck! I literally had an appointment an hour from home in Jax, Fla. When DH pulled in the parking garage, I opened the door and puked all over the ground. I went in to see my RE and he said its not morning sickness if its coming from both ends. NICE! So, with a little gory details, I'm back and soooo excited about all the new mommies that have joined. I also started spotting this evening, so I jumped on to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. To my amazement several of you have. I spoke to one of my good friends who is having her 2nd set of twins from invitro (I know Crazy!) with one fet boy in between and she said she experienced the same spotting. I thinks its very common at this stage. At my 9 week u/s the babies were doing great and moving around. So neat. We're all going to have healthy pregnancies!

Hello Liz 35,

I am so happy you are back. I was really, really worried about you since we hadn't heard from you in a while. I know how busy your life can get. Luckily (knock on wood) I haven't had to go on any pharma business trips lately.

I know exactly how you feel about the spotting. I started spotting last week and paniced but everything seems to be alright. We are supposed to go for our second u/s this Friday.

Please take care,

Angela

I can't help but notice your beta numbers...mine seem oddly high. I know they can vary from person to person. My first was 340, second was 1300, third was 9700...will have my next one on Tuesday. I had an ultrasound...there is only one little bean in there.

Just wonder what makes some betas higher than others...

Hello Ajdec,

Don't worry, our beta numbers are different because yes, they will differ from individual to individual but remember you are 1 day ahead of me and that can make a BIG difference. The reason is because our beta numbers are supposed to double every two days. My first beta of 152 was done 3 days before you took yours and 2 days before my original scheduled beta test date. And, I know you just took a beta on Mondays as I did also and your numbers were 9700 and mine was 6245. If you think about it, I am one day behind so if I would have taken my beta on Tuesday, my numbers should have been 9367, which is not far from yours and actually that would have been the same day after ET as you. So long story short don't worry. I am sure everything is fine. The normal levels of HCG are posted below:

PREGNANCY STATUS SERUM hCG LEVELS

from conception from LMP (mIU/ML or IU/L)
7 days 3 weeks 0 to 5
14 days 28 days 3 to 426
21 days 35 days 18 to 7,340
28 days 42 days 1080 to 56,500
35 - 42 days 49 - 56 days 7,650 to 229,000
43 - 64 days 57 - 78 days 25,700 to 288,000
57 - 78 days 79 - 100 days 13,300 to 253,000
17 - 24 weeks 2nd trimester 4060 to 65,400
25 wks to term 3rd trimester 3640 to 117,000
After several days postpartum nonpregnant levels (<5)"

Here is the web site where I found the information:

Take care,

Angela

Glad to hear from everyone this evening. I wasn't here yesterday because it was too difficult. I had my second beta yesterday. I got back to work & started bleeding. Not spotting, bleeding. It was bright red & definately a light flow. I called my RE. They said not to panic, perhaps the placenta had grown into an artery or some anomaly like that. They liked my first beta & hopefully the bleeding would tapper off. In the afternoon they called with my second beta number, it was 9700!!! The bleeding had tappered off to spotting. They believe that things actually look good & said that they wouldn't do an u/s because they really couldn't see anything at this point?!? Anyway, they scheduled an u/s for 2 weeks from now. When I got home yesterday, I passed a clot & then all the cramping stopped & the spotting became very light & stopped. This evening I have had light brown spotting. I am hopeful that the doc is right, but I thought having an u/s @ 5 weeks was possible. Am I wrong? Thanks.

Hello Catlady,

I had a very similar situation that started exactly on week 5 and they did do an ultrasound after I bugged them to death. I called everyday last week when I was spotting. I did my ultrasound at 5 weeks and 4 days and they were able to see the sac and they saw where my bleeding was coming from but it was too early to hear a heart beat. Apparently, I have a clot attached to my placenta and my uterus. The bleeding finally stopped by Sunday but then it started again on Tuesday and has not stopped all week. I am supposed to go again tomorrow for another ultrasound, which was supposed to be my first ultrasound.

My suggestion would be to discuss your concerns and ask if they can perform an ultrasound; if that would make you feel better. It definitely made me breath a sigh of releif.

Take care and keep us posted,

Angela

catlady, i would definitely insist on getting an us as soon as possible. it will make you feel so much better to know everything is okay.

how is everybody doing? how easy or hard was the wait between the 6 week and 8 week us for you guys? i just had my 6 week this week and i am doing much better than the two weeks between my beta testing and the first us, but it is still hard to wait for 2 weeks.

also, how is everybody doing with pregnancy symptoms? i am still nauseated and have a hard time eating; i actually lost 2 pounds the last week, and i really easy get tired these days. i guess these symptoms should be okay ....

i wish everyone a great weekend.

Hi everyone. Welcome Pumma and Ajdec. Glad to have u on board. Angela, let us know how the scan goes. Same for u catlady--i would def push them for the u/s. I had my first one at 5W4d. Liz: glad that everything is going well.

I went in for my 7 week u/s on Tuesday and saw the h/b at 150. Was amazing. Anyway my doctor said that everything looked great and i can now move off to my obgyn. Has any of you been let go so early. I was really surprised and hope it is a good sign that he is not worried anymore. But i am still on the shots and will continue for another two weeks. Anyway, i found a great obgyn who will see me tomorrow. So at least i don't have to wait in between for too long.

I was just released to my OBGYN at 9 weeks. I also got to stop the progesterone. Although I was able to stop the shots 2 weeks ago, I'm so thankful to be completely done. We go Monday morning to OBGYN for blood test to chest for any problems. I actually am so thankful that I feel so well. Food is my only thing. I can only eat certain things. My husband's cooking is not one of them :)

Hi all - Hope you are having a good weekend. Still no signs of morning sickness...and I've decided I can live with that! :-) Going Tuesday for my next u/s...really looking forward to it! Also made appointments with my regular OB for Wednesday and the first week of December! Exciting to have things moving along!

Anyone else finding themselves REALLY hungry!? I am so hungry all morning. Trying to make good choices with food, but given I don't have any morning sickness AND I'm hungry, I'm paranoid about gaining 900 pounds! DH just keeps saying to me "you don't get to complain about weight until sometime next year...so get over it!" I know he's right!

Happy weekend to all!

Hello everyone,

Well, I had my second u/s yesterday and I have good news and bad news. The bleeding (spotting) I've been experiencing is not only coming from the placenta but it is fron the second placenta. Yeah, that is right, I had twins and the key is HAD. We are experiencing something called Vanishing Twins Syndrome (VTS). From what I know, this happens in 1 and 8 pregnancys and most women do not even know it. The other embryo implanted also but stopped growing after a few weeks. Apparently, my uterus or the other baby will absorb the other. From what the doctor told me the majority of pregnant women go on to have a successful pregnancy. Those who discover the other twin stoped growing in the second or third trimester usually has complications such as going into labor too early or other problems. He also told me that the baby with the heart beat should be fine because it attached above the other one and should not be touched my the other twin. My husband and I definitely feel sad as we lost yet another baby but we are praying and trying to keep a positive attitude that the other baby will be just fine.

The good news is that the other baby is doing great. We heard a heart beat and a strong one at that, which is also measuring at the right size.
They scheduled me for another u/s in two weeks.

I hope everyone else is doing better than I!

Angelaezra....I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortune. However, I heard that majority of all these situations end in a healthy singleton. Were you having any pain associated? You know what's weird, ladies, is that many of us are experiencing the bleeding at the same time. I was spotting Wed. evening and then Friday I went to the bathroom and noticed a small clot. I was pretty freaked out. I called the doctor Sat. morning. He told me to come in first thing Monday morning because I was not bleeding or in pain. I hate being so worried.
Ajdec...Yes, I get really hungry. The bad part about it is all I really want is pasta, pizza, sherbert, and hard candy. NOT GOOD!
Going to say some special prayers for all of us tonight.
