wishing4baby - how can you NOT be jealous? I found out yesterday that one of my best friends is pregnant with #2. I was in no way prepared for the jealousy that ripped through me. I am obviously THRILLED that they will have another child - but it does seem to make my wait more difficult.

Take it easy on yourself - PMA isn't always easy to come by. Especially with as much as you've been through! Remember - we are hear for your venting - so let us have it and not your sister :)

Sprouthaus- Thanks for the info on 3 day or 5 day. It looks like my RE will be doing the same. Looking to see how many good embies we have and then deciding what kind of transfer we'll do. I'm excited and a little nervous! I'm also doing acupuncture as well. I really like it. I got pregnant with my FET#1 after doing acupuncture. I don't know if it had anything to do with but I think it helped.

wishing4baby- I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been there! I hate the horrible feelings that we go through with IVF. Sprouthous is right. I like when she asked, "How can you NOT be jealous?" BTW- you have 12 blast frosties??? That's great! You're chances look great for a BFP!! It WILL happen.

After Friday night, when I found out my gf is pregnant and not married, I had to keep reminding myself the things that are great in my life. It helped. Now that DH is finally back from his trip, I was able to share with him my emotions from this past weekend. We had a long talk about it. He was upset as well as he feels responsible for our situation. I hate that he feels that way. We comforted each other and felt better afterwards.

BTW- here are my dates:
Dec. 5th- start stimming
Dec. 17th- ER
Dec. 19 or 21st- ET

IVF #2: Jan '09- BFP! :-)

Thank you Sprouthaus and Ann d. I don't let my sister see anything but how excited I am for her, but it does hurt. I am trying to stay positive. Our times will come.

Ann d, that is exciting to have your dates. Will you be on bed rest around Christmas? Will you find out your beta right around New Years? That would be a great way to ring in 2009!!!

Thanks for the support ladies. There aren't that many people who understand what we are going through. I appreciate your listening.

Can't wait to hear how we all do. December hurry up and get here!!

hello ladies - I've sent out the list so far, just let me know if you would like to be added.

ann d. - it looks like we will be doing ER around the same time! I am doing a new stim protocol this cycle as I didn't get many eggs from the normal long-lupron cycle (only 10). I am hoping that my response is better this cycle with the new protocol and AP. Anyway, if everything goes perfectly - my ER would be 12/17 too!

It is frustrating to be a 'low responder' to meds! I have a decent FSH (6.3) and my sister went through IVF and almost hyper-stimulated. The anxiety of turning 35 next year doesn't help me either....I noticed a few other gals are 34 as well - do any of you have this "I'm approaching 35 anxiety" such as me?

Can I be added to the list as well? Looks like I will begin stims on 12/3 as long as all goes well with a potential ER on 12/15 at ET on 12/18.

First Timer!

Post by tburks »

Hi ladies. I'm new to all of this and I have lots of questions! I start lupron on the 2oth and we are looking at Dec. 5 for retrevial. I am 35 and have been married for 18 yrs. We have been actively ttc since 98. We finally bit the bullet and went last month about IVF. I can't believe we are at this stage already! It all seems to be going sooooo fast. I recieved a big box full of meds on Monday and these needles --- that to me seem HUGE!! I told my friend "the only place these needles are going is in my butt!!" Needless to say they forgot to inform me about those! It is very overwhelming right now. I am quitting work - tomorrow is my last day and I am thankful. I want to be able to concentrate on this but not be consumed by it. Does your husband give you your shots? Mine is worried about that part. If there is any advice you all might have I would greatly appreciate it.

Tburks, welcome!!! I remember feeling the same when my husband and I started IVF. We couldn't beleive we were actually the couple going through the process.

When that box of meds arrives, it is very, very intimidating. Trust me, it isn't as bad or confusing as it looks. Your RE and nurses will guide you step by step. It won't seem as scary as you go.

My husband does give me the shots. He turned out to be really good at it. Plus he keeps me calm about it. Just make sure your husband is there when they are teaching you how to give the injections and mix the medication.

Try to stay calm and positive. It is exciting to think you are that much closer to your BFP.

I learned that this board is a huge source of support. Unless you have someone in your life that has gone through the process, no one understands as well as the other ladies on this site.

tburks - welcome to the group! Your ER is right around the corner! Can I add you to the list? You would be the first in the group to get your beta results - so you'd have to start us out with a BFP :D

I am no help with your needle questions - I only do sub-cutaneous injections which are basically nothing - the intra-muscular injections have a larger and bigger needle (these usually go in the rear).

My advice is to take it one day at a time - you are in an amazing situation being able to focus your energy to IVF instead of work! I have started doing guided meditation (also known as yoga nidra) daily to help me stay relaxed. It was hard at first because I like to go, go, go. But it gets easier every day and I really feel like I'm mentally more prepared for anything that happens.

As of tomorrow, I will most likely be away from the board for a week due to a planned vacay. Keep the thread going while I'm gone everyone!

Baby dust to all.

Hi everyone!

This will be my second attempt at IVF. I am trying to be optimistic but it is really hard. I really got discouraged after my frozen embies didnt survive the thaw and that was right after my BFP that turned into a m/c.

Wishing4baby and ann d. I know exactly how you feel. I have a few friends that became pregnant when they didnt want to have a baby nor were they in a stable relationship. My oldest sister just has to think about having another baby and boom she's pregnant. My middle sister had some fertility issues but for her each IUI was a success and she got pregnant with her 4th on her own. Don't get me wrong of course I am happy for them I wouldnt wish what I'm going through on my worst enemy but that doesnt mean it isnt extremely painful to watch and be around all my nieces and nephews. My oldest sister is due in just 4 weeks. I don't know how I'm going to be able to handle being at the hospital or with the holidays for that matter....

Anyway I start Lupron on the 17th. I am surprised everyone knows what day their ER and ET is going to be on. My nurse never told me the exact dates....

Thanks for the responses! It is so nice to have people to talk to. I made a mistake and put that I would be starting Lupron on the 20th - I start it on the 16th and stop taking bc on the 20th. For some reason I have the 20th stuck in my head, lol!

We go to the 25th for baseline ultrasound and I guess they will show us then about the im shots. My husband is really into all of this and is determined to go to every dr visit. It is nice that he wants to be so involved.

sprouthaus - you can definatly add me to the list. Like I said I am new to all of this and still don't know much but I will let you know what I know!! I still don't have all of the abbreviations down yet, haha! :?

Annie973
it sounds like we are on the same schedule!! I am the type that I ask a lot of questions! I was told at first that we would be doing ER the week of Thanksgiving but since some others started their cycle b4 me I got bumped up to the next week. But that's ok I'll wait my turn! I'm not sure but I think they put me on long protocol instead of short. Let me know when you find out about your ER!! How many eggs did have on your first retrieval?
