Ayannelli, I agree it is a wonderful miracle. Good luck at your next u/s. I'm still waiting to get mine scheduled but after b/w today, they said it should definitely be next week. I'm looking forward to the excitement before Thanksgiving!

JerseyGal, you're lucky that your acupuncture is covered. That's great! My insurance doesn't cover acupuncture, fertility treatments, or fertility meds, so it's been quite an expense. It's all worth it now though, because we got our blessing.

Bonnie, it looks like your beta numbers are still climbing, so that's a good sign right? When do you go for a first u/s?

We have been trying IUI for the past year. 1st IVF try-day 5 transfer and implanted 2 embies. Got our first BFP 11/12! hcg 348! 11/14 938 and 11/17 2649. what do you think of those numbers? we are so nervous as this is our first BFP since our miscarriage last year. I think a little gunshy to be excited yet. do those numbers look promising? 1st OB ultrasound 11/24 :D

Hi KB2131, I think your numbers sound fantastic. I didn't know much about the beta #'s until I started IVF, but I was told that they should double every 48 hours or so. It looks like your's are doing that and better. Even though I think my #'s are pretty good too, I am still a little hesitant until I have my first u/s. I guess it will be extra reassurance. So sorry you had a miscarriage before. It looks like you're coming right along now though.

KB2131: your numbers are awesome! I am sure you're nervous after having a miscarriage but those numbers sound really good and strong!!!!! Congrats!

I just got my 4th beta numbers back! It was a 2200!!!!! I was SO relieved after they called! The nurse said I may just be one of those women that bleed during pregnancy. I guess my RE's wife was like that with her pregnancies for no explainable reason. So now I'm all relaxed about it because the number was perfect according to the rule of the numbers doubling every 2 days. Hooray!!!

wonderce: I forgot to respond to your question in the last post... I don't have my 1st u/s until Dec 8. It's a long ways away but my RE charges $200 for the 6 wk u/s and I will already have to pay for my 1st OB appointment out of pocket next month because it's not covered by my insurance until January. So I have to wait. Ugh. But I'm okay with that. It's not that far off!

bonnie_bc -- wow-- great numbers! Happy to hear the good news. Same for you - KB2131! Definitely very promising. Does anyone know why some RE's to more betas than others? I only had two (numbers seemed ok) and next they are doing an u/s (this Thursday). I know some of you have had up to four. Should I be concerned? I've never felt so impatient in my life! :)

Looks like we have lots of activity on our July board already, that is great news.
I got my blood work back after my ultrasound and the Beta is now at 28,000 and Proges is 148 and Estrogen is 1189.
My RE is very happy. He said now that I am near the 7 week point the more important thing anyway is what they see in the ultrasound.

This is my 4th IVF. The second time I got a postive Beta but my numbers were never really doubling and by the 6th week the number slowed down to 5890 and then started to go down after that.

Two things that are I am certain that helped me is that I am doing Acupuncture this time and taking those blueish/green pre-natal vitamins.
I started the Acupunture 3 weeks before retrieval, twice a week. I go once a week now. I also had acupuncture the night before my transfer and right after the transfer on the way home.

I hope that I don't sound rude just talking about myself but there is all this excitment going on and at the same time my nerves are killing me.

But everyone keep up the faith, things are going to work out well for everyone. Please keep writing, I want to hear how you are all doing!!!!

WOW!! We sure had a busy Monday! And such great news from all :D

I was out of circulation yesterday; had to make a special trip to my husband's office to pick up a mail order med (my estrace) and then back to my office--never did make up the work from yesterday. Oh well.

To all:
JerseyGal: Yeah for a heartbeat!!! It makes a world of difference to see that doesn't it?

wonderce: Your first u/s is coming up next week right? What an exciting time--I hope all goes well. Tell them to print you off extra pictures from the u/s machine for your baby book.

bonnie: I know how relieved you must feel! Sounds like you have a great RE who took you right in when you felt worried. That means a lot.

kb2131: Congratulations! :D Great numbers and best of luck on your u/s next week--how exciting!

daizyp: I only had two betas drawn as well. I never asked specifically why only two (I had also see others with more betas). I figured after my 2nd beta when the nurse said my RE thought my numbers looked right on point they did not feel the need to continue to test.

As for me, I had my second u/s today, a bit earlier than planned. My RE still believes the second sack is not doing anything and he wants to continue to check it. He says I very well may pass it which will cause a bleed. This of course scares the living heck out of me; however, he said today that my other one continues to grow and the heartbeat is very stong and visible. He also said the one with the heartbeat should not be effected when/if the second one passes. Either way, I really don't want to bleed, but I guess that's out of my control. Of course, he has already said that if I think I pass it and bleed he will see me immediately to confirm. I told him I felt paranoid about all my physical symptoms, second guessing everything. He gave me a hug and told me it was OK, he always needs to keep a few paranoid patients in his office.

That's all from my front :) Hope everyone is having a great week!

ayannelli: don't be worried about the bleeding. Since you've been cautioned to expect it and the other baby looks like it's growing well, just trust that everything will be okay. I know it's hard but that's all you can do, you know?

JerseyGal: Seriously, don't feel bad just writing stuff about your own experience. We all can do that if we need to... we're all having a different experience with all of this and just need to get our thoughts out sometimes. I personally didn't think anything of it except that I was glad you had shared!

The reason I had so many beta tests was because my first numbers were REALLY low... 14 and then 28. We believe it was late implantation but you still have to make sure so when the first beta was only 14, they told me I'd have to do an extra blood test. I requested the 4th one because I've had spotting all day, everyday since the beginning of this pregnancy. I just needed to see that everything was progressing normally so I could get through Thanksgiving without going nutso!

I must say though that my RE office is amazing. It's really small so they know me when I call and I've just needed that extra relating with all the stress of spotting so much. It's been such a blessing.

Great news Bonnie! Glad to hear your #'s went up so much. I'm sure that put your mind at ease. I've also heard of women bleeding during pregnancy. I think it's a shame that insurance doesn't cover some of this stuff, but it sounds like you'll be good to go by January. At least 12/8 isn't that far off! Sounds like you have a good RE too. It's nice to know they are so caring. Mine is the same way, of course I've been going to them for over 3 years so they are like friends now!

Daizy, I'm not sure about the # of beta's. I just had my 3rd and final. I guess they wanted to make sure my #'s continued to rise, but maybe they were happy enough with your first 2 tests that they didn't see a need to do more b/w. You must be so excited for Thursday.

JerseyGal, wow! What a strong beta #. I'm not sure if acupuncture is what did it for me, I plan to keep going even if I have to cut back some, just for reassurance. Plus it's relaxing and a good time to take a nap!

Ayannelli, yes I got my u/s scheduled for next Tuesday, 11/25. I'm glad I'll have it before the holiday so I don't have to wait! Thanks for the tip on the u/s pics. I probably wouldn't have thought to do that. So you had your 2nd u/s today. It sounds like your RE is really looking out for you and good that he's kind of prepared you, just in case. Wishing the best for both sacs.

Wantamiraclebaby, oh my gosh!!! Congratulations!!! I'm just curious what your beta #'s were? We put back 3 embies but were kind of thinking there may only be the 1 or 2 that made it since the 3rd one's grading was lower. I'm just trying to compare with my #'s. I guess I won't truly know until the u/s though. Were you prepared for the news? That's wonderful!!

wantamiraclebaby--Total WOW! I was right there with JerseyGal, total chills and thrills when I read that :) Big, BIG congratulations!

wonderce--thanks for thinking of us :)
My RE does take good care of me. He and his staff are the total opposite of my first RE several years ago. This time around my husband and I felt like our RE actually listened to us, actually read test results, and actually put some thought into my protocol. My husband is still telling people this pregnancy is due, in large part, to my RE taking the time to see each patient as an individual--there is no ONE fertility recipe that fits all of us! It is were that easy--well--we would all have more money left over

To everyone else, have a good night and hope all continues well.
Later :)

I just got REALLY tired for the first time since I've been pregnant! I know that's not a reason normally to be happy but I am SO HAPPY!!! I am all for having pregnancy fatigue, as long as I'm pregnant! I'm sure you can all agree with me on that one!
