Fitz- how did your Lupron shot go?

I am looking forward to starting stims tomorrow! Scared about the menopur though!

Okay, so I went to an acupuncturist last night. It ended up being a consultation session and no actual acupuncture took place. It lasted two hours and in the end, they told us how much it would cost for the first week, which was $500! I felt like this particular place was a scam, so DH and I left without scheduling anything. They made me feel like if I didn't continue with acupuncture through the 9 months of pregnancy, that something bad would happen. I would be in the poorhouse! So, I guess i'm back to square 1. Just keeping up the PMA and maybe some yoga!

DH and I have the day off today and i'm looking forward to some much needed relaxation!

JG, That really sounds like a scam... You could probably pay for a couple of semesters in college for your baby by the time it is born with prices like that. That is ridiculous. I would say it would be a good idea either to shop around or try yoga or meditation. I have heard great things about both. I had no idea that acup could be so expensive and lengthy...

Hope you have a VERY relaxing day off and a wonderful weekend!!!

Good luck with your stims. I know that I am really looking forward to the R&R...

Well this is cycle number two for me and my Doctor changed up the protocla this time around. Weird, no Lupron this time or BCP's instead had to monitor my cycle and 10 days after ovulation I started on Estrace and Antagon. Then hit menses and today started the main meds. I'm cocktailing shall we say with Bravelle and Repronex plus some orals. Retrieval will be here before you know it.

Just did my 1st Lupron, all by myself, well had a friend come and make sure i did it right-- on the way now, next b/w sono on the 13th

Hi Kristy- Welcome to the boards! I haven't used any of those meds before, but I've heard of them. You're right, the retrieval will be here before we know it!

Miner- It does sound like a scam, doesn't it? I have some fertility yoga DVD's that i'm going to use and i'm just going to do those and try and relax until the retrieval gets here.

I started menopur this morning along with my lower dosage of Lupron. Tonight is the Gonal F. The Menopur didn't burn too much, but I went really slow with it, so maybe that helped? I've had a headache for a few days now and it's really starting to bother me.

Fitz- Good job on the lupron! It gets easier every time! I feel like an old pro right now

hey ladies! welcome new ladies to the board, and to those that are taking lupron and stims, keep it up- we're getting closer!!!!

been out of town for a few days, but i'm still on lupron with no side effects. $500 for a week of acupuncture is a rip off! i go to a school for acupuncture and massage and only pay $25/session with a student discount. the regular price is $35. even other places range from $50-90 a session.

i go in for bw and u/s on monday. we'll see what happens then.

hopeful, ladybug, mjay- how was your doctor's appointment?

mjay- that is a good deal for acupuncture. I'm sure that the place that I went to capitalizes on the fact that women who are going through this will do anything to have a baby. After we were there for awhile and she broke out a powerpoint presentation (no joke!), I knew we were in trouble. I felt like I was at a timeshare information session!

jg- lol! that's hilarious! i would have left immediately. although i love the pacific college of oriental medicine, they close on saturday until after labor day. i guess since it's a school they take a short vacation for the students. but, i go to the acupuncture for fertility clinic at the school. they should consider women are in the middle of ivf cycles and do something different for them. i really can't afford to go anywhere else right now, so my last session will be on saturday. the good news is i'm feeling much more relaxed about the entire process so maybe i'll be able to help myself for the remainder of the cycle until they reopen.

how's everything with you? is the menopur horrible? what exactly is that for? i have that med too and have no idea what it does.

mjay- that stinks about the acupuncture place closing! What timing, huh? I'm glad that you got enough in to handle it from there though. Did you have a dr. appointment yesterday?

Anyone getting close to retrieval yet? I am on day 4 of stims and I go to the doctor tomorrow, but I think it'll still be awhile.

I think I messed up with the Menopur this morning. This might be TMI, but I stuck myself and realized I forgot to get the air out of the needle, so I had to stick myself again. The second time, it was only about an inch or so away from the initial time and when I pulled the needle out there was more bleeding than usual. I wasn't so much worried about the blood as I was worried that the medicine was maybe mixed in with it and I didn't give myself the proper dosage then. What do you guys think?

JG- I think that you are fine... I'm just sorry you had to stick yourself an extra time... That sucks. How have your appointments for monitoring been going? Are you eggs growing? Are you progressing the way they want you to?

AFM, I have my suppression check on 08/13 ans should start stims on 08/15. I am ready to get this show on the road...

jg: i did have my appointment yesterday and it went well. nurse said i suppressed "nicely" and now i'm on half the dosage of lupron and 225 of follistim. i have menopur too i think, but what is it for? what meds did you start on when you started stimming?

i go for blood work on the 13 and start stimming the 15th- follistim and menopur

Hey JG379 and everyone,
It so happened I just looked on this board and saw your message. Im usually on the july/aug board. Thanks 4 asking, I had my 3rd dr appt in a row today for bw/us and I have to go again tomorrow, the dr said My follicles are growing nice and big, I have about 16, my estrogen was 533 on sun, 859 on mon, and 1461 today. I hope thats good. I thought I was retrieving next wk and the dr said most likely this fri or sat I go. Im sooooo excited but a little nervous but trying to stay positive about everything. Hope all is going well with everyone. Wishing you all the best.

Fritz- You are right!! I am on the exact same schedule. It is nice to know that someone will be going through it at the same time as me. I am really excited. Just a little nervous about the ER.
Ladybug- Glad to hear your eggs are growing nicely... Your estrogen sounds good from what I have read.. Hang in there!! You are doing GREAT!

AFM, I have my first DR appointment in the AM... Fingers crossed that all goes well and we can start stims on Sat..
