Kim, wow 2 boys! That's what I want! lol It's still early so you never know if there might have been a shadow thowing one of them off a bit. So you might still have a girl in there, but they could tell clearly huh? My doc looked but wouldn't even guess at my NT scan. I was just a few days earlier than you now. Oh well, I find out Friday. lol Congrats on the boys... fraternal or identical? You might have mentioned in the earlier posts but I can't seem to remember if you did or not. :)

Kim - Thought I would update you. Having a boy and a girl so I guess my test was right. There was at least one in there. :) We are excited. I know I hoped for two boys but one of each is perfect too. :) I have their very first blackmail photos. lol Along with many others as well.

Hi ladies-
I'm due with twins Dec. 22 (although, as I'm sure your docs have mentioned they can come up to 6 weeks early. My doc says getting to Nov. will be great. And I'm hoping for Thanksgiving or even a couple weeks later.)

Babies are growing right on schedule and this is 11 weeks but I've only gained 2 pds mainly because I was nauseous for 5 weeks. Feeling much better the last 5 days! :)

However, I just had an ultrasound last week and today my doctor reviewed with me that baby B has more neck fluid than is normal. She says it might resolve itself (and I read online that by week 14 if it doesn't resolve then it indicates that baby B may have Down Sydrome.) I'm trying not to get anxious before next week's nuchal screening when I should find out for certain. Any advice? has anyone else had excess neck fluid?

congrats on your twins and welcome. 11 weeks is so early, lots of things changing, i would wait till your test next week. im sure it will be a long wait till next week but you have to stay calm and positive for those little beans :-) my friends nuchal came back bad, she then had an amnio and her daughter is as heatlhy as can be.

Congrats not hopeless yet! I agree with Kim, 11 weeks is a little early. 12-14 weeks is when they should be looking at that. So wait for your NT scan and see what your blood work says too. With twins it is a little harder to test accuracy of the tests so if things come back with reason to worry, you might want to consider an amnio just to make sure. My perinatologist took about 30 minutes to explain everything and the options if things turned out to be not so good news. He wanted to know what my thoughts were as far as amnio as well as if I would terminate. In the NTS room they have termination paperwork in there for those who choose that. I was surprised to see it just sitting there! Keep your hopes up though! Happy mom makes happy babies! My NT scan came back with the best possible results, but if you weren't told already trisomy 18 can't be accuratly detected at all with twins. I have heard of a few tests coming back with bad news just to have an amnio or wait till birth to find out everything is fine.

Kim - How are you and babies doing? I am surprised the test didn't work for you. 99% of the testimonials were all accurate. Did you do it with first morning urine? I guess for some it just doesn't work. Heck, with just one in there it worked for me. Oh well! Too bad you can't get your money back, mine said that it is basically just for fun. I think they have to protect themselves for liability reasons. After all, some may choose to abort if they don't get what they want. Some people!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Hey, are amnio's 100% accurate? Because my husband suggested we should do that if Nuchal comes back bad. But I know there's a slight risk of miscarriage with amnio. And if it turns out Baby B does have something wrong I don't think you can terminate one without risking the other. So we're torn and I feel bad even discussing termination. But I didn't go thru 5 years of fertility for this result. Of course if we got preg 5 years ago my chances of abnormalities would be decreased. I am happy just to be pregnant and hope both babies are healthy. I hope that by Nuchal next week the fluid will have dissipated. I'll keep you guys posted.

ya i think amnios are extremely accurate but ask your dr. You can do a cvs whcih i beleive is just as accurate- similar to amnio -NOW- where the amnio you have to wait much longer. I think the risk with both is like 1% but talk to your dr. My friend had a cvs early - maybe 10 weeks - cant remember - she said it really hurt but was over fast. if i were you, id take one step at a time. Hopefully all will be well next week but if it wasnt id ask about the cvs.

Is a doc or a sonographer doing the actual nuchal? It makes a difference as far as what you will know the day of. If a doc is doing it that is better because they can tell you their opinion before the wait for results come back, the sonographer can't tell you anything. As far as termination, anytime you selectively reduce there is a chance of losing the other babies. If you know you can't handle a special needs child, I would recommend adoption. My ex sister in law was pg with a DS baby and gave him up, there were parents waiting for him so all went well and he had a great home. Lets just hope all is well and not think of the bad right now. :) Think happy thoughts.

Not hopeless - A lot of times these tests have false results (not really amnios, but anything they are looking at on an u/s). I have SOOO many friends who had markers for DS and they all have healthy babies. Obviously there are children that do have DS (who are usually the happiest people on earth - My cousin has it), but many of the markers are shadows or just plain incorrect. Wait until your next appointment and maybe go for an amnio from there is you still need it for peace of mind. My friend just had a major scare with two DS markers, and opted for an amnio just so she could be prepared (would not abort). She has a perfectly healthy little girl. But she was definitely scared, I think it's only natural. I know I would be. We all want a perfect child or children...in reality, all kids have one issue or another, some bigger than others. We take one day at a time and see where it leads us.

I do VERY much hope your next scan comes back with better results, and that they were just seeing a shadow with the last one.

Thanks ladies... I'm feeling slightly relieved after I called the doctor with more questions. She said the excess neck fluid was suggested and we'll know better next week. I asked about risk + accuracy of amnio . FYI, it's 99% accurate and has miscarriage risk of 1:300 which is probably better than my risk of Downs but I will know more next Fri.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi all. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I went to the doctor today. My cervix has been shortening since last week. This is called funneling. It was 2.4cm lastweek and today is 1.6. I am officially on bedrest and he gave me a progesterone vag insert. He isn't crazy about a cerclage. Not sure if it really helps since my cervix is closed. But if I do one it has to been this weekend. Anyone have any helpful info about cerclages?
