I'm doing pretty good. Still just waiting for my first OB appointment on Monday. Thanksgiving was a bit of a shock though. First, at my mom's, as soon as we sat down to lunch, she announced her husband (who's plant is shutting down that he works at) got the job at the company's other plant, 3 hours away, and that they are moving. I cried. My mom was not the best mother by any means, but she is already trying so much harder for this baby, and I need her. It's going to be so hard with 3 hours away when she's been no more than 30 minutes away from me my whole life (I was raised by my dad).

Then, at my dad's side's Thanksgiving, my grandma lets slip that my cousin is pregnant. I supppose I should be excited, but I'm not. She's younger than me and not married. Her boyfriend (of less than a year) is emotionally & verally abusive and not someone I would ever choose to have a baby with. She is also due 2 weeks before me. This was the first family gathering since we found out we were pregnant and I just wanted people to fawn over me like they have everyone else in the family who has gotten pregnant, but now I have to share it, and she gets to do it all first since she is ahead of me week wise. I was so upset. For once, I wanted things to be about me, especially after all we went through to get this baby. Plus, she had told everyone but me. She didn't want me to find out. I'm sure she was doing it to be nice because she knows what we've gone through, but I don't like finding out that everyone else knows and I don't. Maybe I'm overreacting, but that's just how I feel. Hope everyone else here in the US had a better Thanksgiving than I did.

Deidraj - it sounds like you had an awful Thanksgiving. It will be hard for you with your Mum moving 3 hours away but I'm sure with a lovely grandchild on the way, she'll be all the more keen to visit.

Your cousin certainly doesn't sound like she's in the ideal situation to be pregnant. Was the pregnancy a surprise or planned?

Anyway, chin up and look ahead to that awesome u/s you're going to have soon.

Tess, it was a surprise pregnancy for my cousin. It was defintitely unplanned and an "oops." She had talked about leaving the guy multiple times, but she's one of those women that has to have a man in her life, so she's never left him because she hasn't found someone to replace him. Now that I'm a couple days removed from it, I am now sad for her and the baby. It isn't the ideal situation for the baby to be brought up in.

My appointment went great today. We FINALLY heard the heartbeat! It stayed in the 160's and the Dr. could even tell when the baby was moving with just the heart monitor. She said it will be awhile before I will feel the baby moving (which I knew, but I can't wait for). I go back in 4 weeks, on December 28th. She said my next ultrasound won't be until I'm 18 to 20 weeks, which I figured, but stinks. We got kind of spoiled seeing the baby in an ultrasound 2 times in 2 weeks, so to know that I have to wait at least another 7 weeks, it just seems unfair! Hope all is well with everyone else!

Deidraj - how cool to hear the heartbeat. I can't wait!! I'm hoping to sneak in a scan at my next OBS appt to discuss the 1st trimester screening results. Then it'll probably be the big wait until 18-20 wks.

Are you going to find out the sex of your baby. I think we definitely will.

Time to go and cook some dinner. I feel like just curling up and having a snooze to be honest.

Hello everyone

Glad everyone’s scans have gone to plan excellent news, what a great Christmas present . I went for my scan on Tuesday, Wow how much has the baby grown since the last scan just over 2wks again, how amazing!!
I agree with you Tess, great to see the hands, spine etc of the baby, just so exciting and amazing to think a little baby is growing in our bellies!!!
Our scan went well, little bean was already playing up, was facing my spine so they couldn’t get the measurements to test for downs, so there i was doing star jumps and walking about to see if little bean would turn over, luckily baby did, we got to see baby for so long on the screen, it opened it's mouth and was sucking it's fingers...WOW!!


Deidraj - it's not nice when people steal your thunder, especially when your little bean is so special!! Don’t worry about her, if anything she is probably jealous of your situation, having a loving husband and a safe and stable upbringing, she may not have a partner by the end of it...!!! but you will always have your husband, and your much longed for baby Have you told everyone your news??

I may go and have a private 3d scan to see little bean again, as i don’t think i can wait until Jan 17th before i see baby again....!!
We are fitting in a last min holiday, flying out to warmer climates on 2nd Jan, just for a week and only a 4hr flight as don’t want to travel too far, but really need some last min sun just the two of us will have to try my bikinis on to see if they look ok, think the bottoms will be fine but may have to buy some bigger tops....heheheh

Anyway, it's very cold here in the UK been snowing, bruuuuuuuuu, going home now to snuggle up with the fire on

Sarah, we pretty much told everyone the minute we found out it was positive. We called our parents and all the important people and announced it on facebook. We couldn't wait, plus this is it for us, we have no more insurance so it won't be happening again. I knew that as much as it might hurt to announce if something went wrong, it would be my only chance to say that I was pregnant. Also, my beta was high so I thought there was a good chance of us sticking. I'm just now letting parents at work know, though (I'm a preschool teacher) since I will be 12 weeks on Sunday.

Tess, we are definitely finding out the sex. It is almost impossible to get enough clothes nowadays without knowing because there aren't many gender neutral clothes out there. I am actually having my husband find out, and then he is going to surprise me and let me know. He is a huge romantic and always comes up with great surprises, so it will be more special to me to find out that way.

AFM-I'm still nauseous. It's been pretty bad lately. I've had to use my pils a lot more than I wanted to. I'm hoping it's just a first trimester thing for me and that I soon wake up with no nausea!

Sarah - I would love to have a 3d scan done. Unfortunately, despite Wellington being the capital city of New Zealand, we don't have a 3d scanner available. If the option was there without me having to travel for miles, I would definitely go for it. We're just coming into Summer here in NZ so we've had some lovely sunny days. I've heard that it's been pretty chilly over your way. Great idea going for a warm holiday before your life becomes all about baby.

Deidraj - can't wait to find out how your husband tells you about the sex of your baby. I hope your nausea disappears in this 2nd trimester. I've only had a couple of bouts of it - usually in the shower first thing in the morning, and also eating fatty foods. I had fish and chips the other night and nearly threw up. Blurk!

AFM - got an appt with my OBS this week to discuss my screening results. Hopefully, I'll get a peek at bubba too. I'm feeling a bit knackered today. I had a cheese making course all day yesterday and then went to a concert last night. Didn't get to bed till midnight. I'm such a nana at the moment, I'm in bed by nine almost every night.

Does anyone have real symptoms? I've got some coming and going.. mostly a sore lower back and moodiness! LOL What were your betas? I was feeling great about mine until I started reading some of the monster numbers! I'm getting an ultrasound in mid november but it seems like a world away. We've had two blighted ovums in a row.

Zav - my betas are at the bottom of my signature. Note my betas were spaced about a week apart so the numbers appear to rise really quickly. How many weeks pregnant are you? Clinics usually don't look at betas after about 8 wks as they tend to level off.

Zav - me again! My symptoms come and go too. I've had sore boobs since about 8 wks but waves of nausea that come and go occasionally. Otherwise, I'm feeling really quite normal. Am just starting to get a belly that I can't suck in anymore! So people have barely any symptoms so don't worry too much.

I only had 1 beta done. It was 781 at 14dp 3dt. I have had nausea since about a week after we got the positive pregnancy test. It was really bad, lasting most of the day. I was 12 weeks this past Sunday, and now I'm pretty much only nauseous in the morning, which is great. My boobs are sore but only sometimes, and I've definitely got mood swings. I cry (but not all the time) and get cranky. I'm just happy that I made it past the 12 week mark! I was told today at work that 2nd trimester is the best so enjoy it. I'm sure trying!

Hope your all doing well?

Time is flying by!! I am 15wks today, and my belly has popped out!! Clothes feeling snug now to and my bra is uncomfortable, will need to go to be measured in a few day me thinks!! I keep thinking i will feel the baby move soon, my sister did from 14wks. Have not felt it yet or when i do think i have some wind follows shortly (it's not my wind, it's the baby)
I have been really lucky and have had hardly any symptoms, boobies big and sore, feel hungry quickly but that's about it, been really lucky with no sickness at all.
I rang up about the 3d scan i wanted before my 20wk scan but they advise 24-27 before you have it done as there is no meat on the baby yet so would probably look a bit freaky, so may have that done then, will see....!!

Hi All

Happychops - I'm 15 wks on Friday and some of my clothes are getting very snug. I'm sure my boobs are increasing in size by the day!! Definitely time to purchase some new bras.

I haven't felt any movement yet but have had my fair share of wind!

I got the results of my first trimester screening back yesterday. I was a bit worried that my risk of having a Down's syndrome baby would be rally high due to my age - 41. I was stoked when I found out that the chance of me having a Down's baby is 1:1500. So no amniocentesis for me. Have any of you ladies had your results back yet?

I meet my midwife for the first time next week and then i've a couple of weeks wait until my anatomy scan @ 19 wks. Can't wait to find out what sex the baby is. I've got a gut feeling it's a boy - don't why.

Not too till Xmas. I'm so looking forward to break.

Ahh brilliant news about your downs results the amniocentesis seems a bit scary so it's great you haven’t had to have that Yes i got mine back yesterday we were really pleased with ours to 1-75000, so that's great news and a relief
Have you done any shopping yet?? i couldn’t resist an outfit i saw the other day, a little unisex light yellow baby grow with short arms and cut out lets as we have to think June will be nice and warm, hopefully. I also bought a really cute baby grow that say's 'i am the apple of my daddy's eye' i have wrapped this up and i am giving it to my hubby on xmas morning from sweet pea . I will do some proper shopping and get the nursery ready after the new year, i cant wait i have quite a few ideas already.
Ohh not long until you find out the sex of your special baby then, i could find out next week if i wanted to but i quite fancy a surprise, i like surprises
Yes Christmas is just around the corner, that last one for both of us as a couple, next year is going to be so special for us both, ohhhh how exciting!!!
