Caz,

Boy, the stress of this whole thing seems never ending. It's like even when you get a +tive there are still things to worry about!

Isn't it possible that your levels are still too low for a home test to pick up?

Clearly a blood test is a much more reliable test. When do you go back in to your Dr.'s office again?

well in theory we dont go back until 36th may for scan - but I may go for a blood test sooner, given todays events. Spoke to doc- he said to ignore the home pregnany test - but its pretty tough to do that!

Ignore it?! Easy for him to say!

If it was me I guess I'd probably try another home test tomorrow (first thing when you wake up in the morning) then if it still is showing a -tive, I would go back in to get another blood test if they will let you. I'd also make sure you are using a test that is specifically designed to detect early pregnancy. I'm assuming you probably did though?

I really don't think you have anything to worry about, especially since your Dr.'s office doesn't seem concerned. If it was me, I would just want the peace of mind though.

Try not to panic!

hcg s etc

Post by Wendy »

FANTASTIC news Caz - I really am sooooo happy for you. I'm absolutely fine after getting pissed and giving Benjamin and DH huge cuddles. I'm so lucky to have Benjamin anyway - it really is a lot less stressful when you already have a little bundle of joy.
wrt hcg etc - YOU ARE DEFINATELY PREGNANT !!! with Benjamin I tested positive on day 14 after the transfer and he was '90', so 154 is really good. They can be as low as 17 or loads higher, but all are positives. Do you get to go back in a week for another blood test - I was given 3 - day 14, day 21 and day 28 and then it was time for the scan, so It was really reassuring during the 2nd 2ww to get the blood tests in between so you can see the hcg levels rising BUT I know the other girls are saying don't get hung up on the levels as they do vary tremendously - SO DON'T !!!!! Enjoy being pregnant - its another milestone, another hurdle and you've done it, there are loads more to come but you just take each one as it comes. FORGET THE PG TEST - they are totally rubbish compared to blood tests. I read an article saying the 99% accuracy is 'statistical lying' apparently there is a 1 in 4 chance of getting a false positive and a false negative with each test - so forget it, just look forward to your first scan - which is when you'll really know you are pregnant because you'll see your little 'blob' for yourself - its truley amazing.
WELL DONE GIRL (AND DH TOO OF COURSE)
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGE HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Wendy - you truly are incredible - after what you've been through and you still find time to write a me a mail like that. Its INCREDIBLY reassuring and I really appreciate it :-)
I totally agree with what you say re home pregnancy tests and read something exactly along the lines of what you are saying last night. Its very naughty isnt it - because I assumed that 99% accurate and "you can test on the first day of your missed period" related to the same thing and they dont!. They are only 99% accurate after a few days!

Anyway - that said, I peed on another one this morning (sorry ladies!)- and it was faint but positive. So I think I'll take that - and ill promise to try to shut up about it for a few days....but will have a blood done next week.

Wendy - Ben must be so wonderful - how old it he?

thanks for everything Wendy -I'm thinking of you

Hiya, glad to hear you're feeling reassured. Its such an exciting time for you, but it'll also be nerve racking too, particularly for those dreaded first 2wks till the scan and then theres the '12wk' mark, then the '28 'wk mark - it just goes on and on until you finally hold them in your arms, but you'll be able to enjoy it more and more as time goes on and you get your longed for bump. Enjoy !!
Benjamin is 14mths and absolutely wonderful, we are sooo lucky to have him, we feel we've known him forever, hes such a happy thing. We'd love to have a sibling for him, so we'll keep going till its time to give up.
Have a good few days off.
love and hugs to you all xxxxxxxxxxxx wendy

Caz,

OH MY GOD!!!!
I've missed it all! I've been away relaxing in Devon since Sunday and only just logged on to see your teriffic news! I still can't believe it- after all you and your DH went through, the odds were unbelivable - your DH must be estatic!!! :D :D :D

I'm crying now - so, so pleased!!!

Would be good if Lorraine and Jo saw your news, but they seem to have dropped out? I'm on my 3rd day of injections with EC\Et scheduled for the w/c 17th May. I feel like s**t I've put on 1/2 stone in 2 weeks and that is just with sniffing - I'm having a reaction to the meds this time and my face and ankles have blown up like a balloon.

Anyway - enough about me - I'll post again, but just wanted to say it's fantastic news!

Got to go and catch up with all the other news on the site now!

Love to you both
