hi girls,
have been away for a week and am catching up as much as poss with all the posts and results of the last week. am just about getting there but am not too good on where everyone is at yet! also feel a bit confused about which thread to be on. had joined this one as we will be downregging at end of april i think, with main treatment in may, but i see there is another thread called "rollcall march, april and early may"... am guessing here is where i should be but do boot me off if not!!

am feeling a bit nervous about gearing up to go again. we got a -ve after our first attempt at ivf on march 7th. the doctors are happy for me to start again at the end of april, i.e. after 2 periods. some people on here seem to suggest their clinics dont allow this so early. i am going to do a liver detox and continue to eat healthily until then. i also have weekly acupuncture which i think helps. has anyone out there had experience of starting again fairly quickly? i am now also worrying about whether the prenatal vitamins i am taking are enough. i think really i am just getting my knickers in a twist and i will be fine! i certainly feel well and mentally and emotionally strong, so i hope that makes all the difference.

hope you feel better soon Nicola.. take it easy!

hello it's me back again!
Mum was such a star, she really wants to understand what's going on, I told her about the support from this site and she was so pleased for me as she knows I get lonely - I have lots of German friends but sometimes you need people in the same boat and your mother tongue to express yourself...although I did (am doing) my whole depression therapy in German...Anyway (you should see poor dh when my mum and I are together as we both speak in brackets..)..anyway she is an angel and without her we could not do IVF/DE

Nothing has changed on our side, had the final confirmation FSH result 96..so lets just get on with it OK?? I am now OK with the menopause, I read Germaine Greer female eunoch and the change..very feminist but also very true, sometimes we forget just how enlightened these times are compared to the 60s for example when hysterectomy seemed to be the preferred treatment for all "womens troubles"..Not preaching just counting my lucky stars..

Randar, sorry you are pushed to June. That said we hope that we'll get going right away for May but it might not happen..

You are all heroines for your healthy stuff, I mjust admit that I haven't changed diet - although we do eat "continental" lots of salads, no chips/pizzas/junk food.. and I am not a fan of traditional heavy food anyway. Actually I have given up smoking, now in week 3 and jolly proud so that will do for this month! (actually about once a month I do have a big mac shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

oh by the way Nicola, I know how you feel. When we came here we contacted a clinic in Hamburg (founf on the internet) they have a good reputation so we went there. They did all the tests private (like we paid). In the end I had so many probloems with the menopause anyway we had a refrerral from our GP to a Uni clinic nearby - they did all the same tests for nothing!! That cost us about £500 - so I know how you feel. Sometimes you feel like its a sausage machine and people take advantage of our vulnerability - I am not generalising just expressing a feeling I get sometimes.

Anyway Baby dust and Easter kisses to all May buddies - Mayflowers

BigJ (changed sign off as too many Julies/Jules I was confusing myself poor old thing..)

btw - I am 42 on Saturday - what a wrinkly old mum I'll be!

Will def need to read up on all you may buddies, there is quite a lot of us isn't there, and find out where you are all up to.

Anyone else due to start fet very soon, would love to hear from you. This is my first fet and not sure whats in store. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi Christine - You must be overjoyed to have a date ... I can just imagine ! I start Buserelin on 5 April, for my first FET too - so our dates aren't too far apart. I'm on the March/April thread.

I'm looking forward to it Christine ... from what I understand it should be so much easier than a fresh cycle. Less meds, less scans, less bloods etc. I know there'll be the thaw worry. I'm dreading that already.

Are you doing a medicated or natural cycle ? How are yours frozen / how will they be thawed ?

Hi sandra

Thanks for your reply. It is very reassuring when someone else is going through the same thing. Will probably join the march/april buddies also, and then we can keep each other going.

Our embroys were frozen at fertilisation stage and were frozen on day 2.
What about your embroys what stage were they at?

Hope to hear from you soon.
Take care luv christine xx

Hi sandra me again

Sorry forgot to say that I am doing a medicated cycle and that they will be thawed the day before I am due to have an embryo replaced.

My main concerns and the thawing stage and the fact that you can get to the next day and if the embryo shows no signs of dividing, then it is game over for the time being. Also we have had to make the decision to only have one embryo replaced, to avoid the possibililty of twins, as sadly I have already lost twins at 17 wks.

Are you having two replaced?
Speak soon luv christine xx

Hi Nicola

Bureselin is injections that I started off with in my fresh cycle, they suppress the ovaries, before they are stimulated ready for ec.

With fet I still have to take the bureselin to downreg, then take tablets to thicken the lining ready for replacement.

Good luck with you appointment on the 15th. Keep in touch and let me know how you go on.

Take care
luv christine xx

Hi Christine ... Mine were frozen the day after EC too, so as you say, it will be a nightmare 24 hours of waiting ..!

We've got 7 frosties and they'll thaw 2. If neither of those 2 make it, that'll be it for this cycle. Yes, we're having 2 replaced (fingers crossed).

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine how hard that must have been for both of you. There must have been a good reason though, Christine and it does prove that you can become pregnant.

How many frosties do you have...? Are they frozen singularly ? How many will they thaw ??

Hi Sandra

We have 11 frosties, they will only thaw one at a time. When we saw the fet specialist she said they would thaw up to 4. As they say that around 80% should thaw and would hopefully get one out of the 4. Certainly hope so anyway.

Are you having treatment in manchester? We are at St Mary's.

Keep in touch. Speak soon.

luv christine xxxx

It's exciting hearing all your news, 11 frosties Christine, you must have a really good chance. I am really sorry that you lost your twins, that must have been terrible. Its' so brtave of you to be back trying again, an inspiration to us all, never give up!

Good luck with your frosties too Sand - is this your first FET?

Like Nicola I am just counting the days til we go to Barcelona. Just entering week 4 as non-smoker, dead pleased with myself, taste buds and smell buds back to normal. Trouble is so is my apetite, so will have to be careful not to indulge too much!

Lovely sunny cold day here, going to take the doggies to the beach.

Love bigJ

Hi Christine ... Yes, we're at St Mary's too. With our dates so similar, we could easily pass on the corridor. I'll look out for your name on the board !

I wonder why the FET Dr told us they'd only thaw 2 ... maybe because we've only got 7 and you've 11 ? Still, it doesn't really make sense to me... All being well, you'll be able to choose the best of the bunch. Fingers crossed all round.

Hi BigJ ... Yes, it's our first FET and I can't wait to get cracking ..! Really well done to you on the no smoking. I know how hard it is. What I've found though, even after just the first few days, is that when a smoker passes you they really stink. I try to keep this in mind. Enjoy the beach !
