Usma.. I pray fro you. I hope it is good news. if not please come back to this thread as I may also need your comfort if mine fails (noone can be sure mine will work ), and we can help to prepare you for your next try and to cheer you up!. My transfer was last Friday (20th October ). All went well .. except for the fact that I always though embryos were transfered in a bendable tube, so when the biologist walked into the room with what looked more like a very very long thin needle - I would love to have seen the look on my face!!! as I thought "oh my God - that has to go right up inside me??!! " now I am suffering the two week wait. The doctor cleared up one issue - the embryos do not fall out whilst walking. However can someone like Jo help out here? I have been having restless nights since the transfer - tossing and turning. I keep worrying that sleeping on my side may move the embryos and that my constant tossing and turning could move them closer to my fallopian tubes - call me paranoid!!!. It would be ironic if I suffered another ectopic. (my first ectopic was not due to IVF - but due to a birth defect ).

Someone please help so I can sleep!!! I have literally been waking up every hour. It happened both Friday night after the transfer and last night - so I said to my hubbie I had best ask the more experienced ladies on the boards!
Sleeping on my side is my favourite positon too for getting to sleep!!!

Once again thanks ladies for all for your posts!! Bekki xxx

Hey ladies, Well I had my ET yesterday adn everything went really well. Sadly however we were informed that 10 of my 12 eggs stopped growing. So we will not have any embies to freeze, We hope and pray that the two we transfered are strong and will continue to grow.
Jill

jstrandlund,

I am praying too for you and us both. I had two transferred back too. In Germany they have strict embryo laws, so out of the 9 egg cells that were collected from me they were unable to say how many fertilized correctly, as they only let two (the number that get transferred ) develop to the point where the DNA of both man and woman fuse together. So basically I have no idea other than the fact the two that were transferred back into my uterus were ok at that particular time - had developed ok up to two days after fertilization. If they develop further - is something I also will not know for sure until 2 weeks.

Hello All,
I think that once the embryos are put in place you can do any activities that you would do as if you had gotten pregnant naturally. Did your Dr. tell you anything differently? When is your 2WW over for both of you?

My lone egg did not furtilize :( . I'm actually doing better than thought I would. I think I would rather find out now than go through the 2WW. I'm ready to start again ....like tomorrow, but my husband is having surgery in November so I think we'll wait till December. thanks so much for all your support. It helps so much to talk to others that are going through the same thing. I found myself wondering around all day not being able to realte to anyone.

I'll be checking in on you ladies and wishing the best!! Can't wait to hear!

Usma - ur back!!

Stay in touch - please!! You are a tre, endous help through all of this. If mine fails we will try again in January or Feb. It is good to know before... whereas I have the 2 week wait.. It is just hard to remain balanced in thought. One cannot be too positive or too negative. With the strict embryo laws in germany I know much less about whether or not my eggs will develop further. My pregnancy test will be around the 6th - 10th November. I do not know the exact date yet. Tomorrow I get a HCG shot and I am taking vaginal utrogest capsules (which contain progesterone ).

Oh Bekki please do not worry about how you sleep. God forbid if it did end in an ectopic there is absoutely nothing you could do to prevent it. Sleeping, movement etc will not move the embryo into your tubes. The only time you are advised to sleep in a certain position is when you are pregnant. Apparently it is better to lay on your left side for circulation.

You should continue to act normally but avoid physical exercise, sex, swimming and most of all STRESS!!!

I can understand your worries as you have had an ectopic before but try and remain calm and stressfree.

Jill I too didn't have any left to freeze but thankfully I didn't need any. Let's hope you too don't need any more.

Vic I'm so sorry your egg didn't fertilise. It is great that you sound so positive about next time. From what I've read it's good to give your body a few months to recover to starting in December sounds great. I hope hubby's op goes ok. You two will be taking it in turns to look after each other!

Thinking of you all

Thanks Jo for the lovely reply.

I actually had a better night of sleep last night. Today I am taking it easy lying on the couch wrapped in a blanket - with a couple of bottles of water to drink. I worked ou the embryos must be now at the blastocyst stage (day 5 after fertilization? ) assuming development has progessed in the womb since the transfer.

Hey ladies, Okay this waiting and bedrest is killing me already. Thankfully today is my last day of bed rest!! YEAH :D I do not sit well but it is amazing what we can do when we want something bad enough. My embies are now at day seven which hopefully means they have implanted and are building their nest as we speak. I believe that if this does not work we will try agian as soon as my RE allows. I am scared of having to repeat this whole process but I will do if I must. I continue to pray for myself as well as all of us daily that we will all get great BFP's. I do feel so lucky to have found this site it is so helpful to have others that understand how I feel.
Bekki, I had to giggle when I read your post about worrying if how you slept would affect the embies because I have been worried about that also. I hope you are feeling well and I pray for your embies to begin implanting any day now.
Vic, I am so sorry to hear that your egg did not fertilize. I can imagine that it must have been devestating but I am amazed and proud of you for how positive and strong you are remaining. You truely are an inspiration to all of us!!
Jill

I know - the two week wait is hell!!!

Luckily I am not stressing or driving myself crazy - I am just l resting and pottering about at my leisure - and of course visiting this chat forum on a daily basis - helps to stop me from going insane!!. Mine should be implanting at any moment - Jill, is this your first IVF attempt as well? It will be disappointing if we get negative pregnancy tests and then find we have to repeat. Especially as I have done everything I can to try to make it work and I am healthy - do not smoke or drink alcohol, and I have been resting (which is what my body has been telling me ) and totally avoiding stress. I am sleeping really well at night - but I find that due tio the hormones I am very thirsty and have to keep peeing. I get up about twice in the night!!!

Necertheless I have heard even if you are as healthy as can be, and do everything it right it can fail.. There is just no knowing!!

I pray to god this works for us both and for everyone else!!!!

Vic,

Glad to hear you have an appointment set up with the doc. He will help to decide when would be best to re-try. Dont forget we are almost into November now, and time flies!!!

I am panicking incase mine fails because my hubbie says it is a waste of money (not that he does not want a child, but because we are not exactly stinking rich )!! If mine fails we will be looking at Jan or Feb at the latest to try again.

I am taking vaginal progesterone capsules at the moment. It would be nice if it all worked for the first time, but most IVF cycles seem to fail. Even if you are under 35 the chances, so it seems from reading, arent exactly high. I am doing fine, not stessing as much as I thought I would. I just feel a bit like how you feel before your period - mild cramping and a bit light headed - and I have an appetite like a horse (which is always the case before my period ). Week two of the two week wait starts on saturday 28th October.
