Glad to hear you are feeling better. Maxalon is called Reglan is the US. It is a good anti-nausea medicine. Doctors here just tend to use Zofran for pregnant ladies, not sure why.
I am 13 weeks now and am my stomach is getting round. I can still fit into my clothes, as it's my lower abdomen not my waist that has gotten bigger. Not sure how long before I have to break down and buy some maternity clothes. Since I wear scrubs to work, I should be okay for a little while longer.
We found out last week that we are having boys. I had the cvs test done, so that's how we found out so early. I was a little disappointed as I really wanted girls, but that obviously wasn't meant to be.
I got my first baby purchase! I bought bedding with little cars, trucks, helicopters, etc. It's really cute, thought expensive to buy enough for two cribs! My husband thought I was nuts to buy stuff so early but I told him we couldn't afford to wait and buy everything at the end. We need to space out the purchases. The next big purchase is cribs and a dresser. I can't believe how much baby stuff costs!
Just wanted to let you know that we had the 20 week scan yesterday and everything appears to be going well. Both babies look wonderful, they are about the same size and are growing pretty much on target to expectation. I am so pleased to see/hear this. The only surprise we had was that we were told the expected sex of the babies at 13.5 weeks. Alas with a disclaimer that this should be confirmed at the 20 week scan. So yesterday, they checked again and one of the babies is not what they had originally told us. I'm chuffed as anything that they are both healthy but I must admit I'm a little confused...nevermind, will adjust quickly I'm sure
Well, the morning sickness has finally eased, but now I have a terribly runny nose! Has any one else experienced this?
Have been shopping and bought a porta-cot which has a bassinette insert in it and I will put the twins in that together to sleep for the first couple of months. What is everyone else doing? It is so expensive having to buy two of everything, isn't it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Try not to worry, my beanies heartbeats were about 10- 20 beat difference and their growths were always about 3-5 days apart..but when I had them they weighed the same.

Just got back from my first u/s and we had the same thing and my Dr. isn't concerned at all. Our FHB were 14 beats off and measured 4 days different and they said that is normal and rarely are they the same.
Super excited to join a thread fro twins!!!!!! CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!!!

A FHB of 136 is very normal, a FHB of 108 is a little slow but still within normal range (anything over 100 is ok). They are probably just trying to keep a close eye on you as there is the slight size difference. I wouldn't worry too much (I know, easier said then done) your tiny one will pick up as he gets stronger.
I had 1 twin at 171 and the other at 140 for a while there as Twin 1 is the dominant fiesty one, always wiggling about getting his heartrate up. Twin 2 is calmer, gentler and tends to sleep alot. I wonder is thats what they'll be like on the "outside".

Hi everyone. I have just returned to the board afer a long time away. I would like to congratulate you all and wish you all the best as you cope with the roller coaster of emotions " yeah twins" v's "aaarrrgh twins". My girls are 13 months now and life with them just gets better and better. If I were to tell you about my journey I would be here for weeks so if anyone has anything specific they want to ask please ask away and if I can help you I'd love to.
You may be rather busy answering tons of questions! If you don't mind me asking, did you have them vaginally or c-section? Just curious. I know it's a long way off and that delivery won't be anything like what we think but I like to prepare for all scenarios!
Congrats on your beautiful girls! Sounds like your in love!!!! Great to hear you've made it through the first year.

kholtan,
COngratulations!
I had the girls by elective CSection. Initially when I found out we were PG I was desperate to have a vaginal delivery - not entirely sure why I just was. Possibly as it might have been my only pregnancy and chance to have a "normal" delivery. At 30 weeks my presenting baby had moved to extended breech position. The docs thought that she ("it" at the time!)might still have moved but she didn't. TO be honest I thought it would have felt pretty uncomfortable if she had as there didn't feel like much room. ANyway, I remember feeling pretty upset when I was told if the baby didn't move then I would have to be sectioned. As time marched on it became less of a big deal and in the end I just wanted them to be born safely and whatever was best for them was fine by me. The girls were delivered at 38 weeks 1 day weighing 6lb 11oz and 5lb 11oz.
I remember being anxious about the section and the anaesthetic and the recovery afterwards but it was ok, really! It is funny though that after most pretty major surgery you are advised to go home and rest. Ha Ha Ha - now you have 2 newborns to look after!
Hope this helps a bit. Anything else I can help with just let me know. I can't promise to reply immediately but most days I get a quick chance to log on.
Thanks for the reply Maci! What did your name your girls? Also, how old are they now? HAve you slept since they were born???
I would love to do a completely natural childbirth at our hospital but I also know that in the end it won't matter how they get here. The plan is to get plan A-C and know that we may do none of them. My Dr. has already said that I should just plan and then play it by ear and I love his calmness about it so I guess I am just following suit.
I'm just so excited for twins. As a child, I use to tell people that I was a twin and we were seperated at birth but she would soon be back. My parents were probably so sick with my obsession and now here I am having twins. I've always loved twins and it's kind of a little light from God letting me know why I had to struggle for so many years an end up doing IVF. There's a reason for everything!
Thanks for being so willing to share!!

Me too - I used to pretend my little brother was my twin brother. We did look very alike and once, I remember, a lady asked our mum if we were twin boys!! The cheek of it - I grew my hair after that!!
My girls are almost 14 months now and both walking well and into everything - they are brilliant, really good wee girls.
They have slept from 7pm - 7am since they were 5 months old. But sleep in the early days........ well I'd be lying if I said it was easy but I actually managed to cope with the disturbed sleep quite well (and I'm normally a real sleep-a-holic). I breastfed until the girls were 8 months old and the early weeks were tough. I made the mistake of feeding each baby on demand - nightmare - for 4 days I fed for 22 out of 24 hours. A good tip (from my experience) would be to feed them at the same time and establish a routine asap. Prior to delivery I was going to "go with the flow" but realised that in order to cope I had to set the routine. I found the book by Tracy Hogg (The Baby WHisperer) to be really helpful and found it fitted in well with what the girls natural pattern seemed to be. On occasion they needed encouraging or convincing of a change in the routine but they seem to have thrived on it and it has made life structured but very manageable, predictable and enjoyable. Perhaps it depends on how you are as a person normally - I like to know what's happening, when and be organised. I also found the support of the local twins club brilliant. It is true that nobody understands better than a fellow multiple mum.
Someone asked me recently "how do you cope with twins" (one of the many questions fired at you by friends, family and strangers alike). My reply was "by being completely inflexible".
Life is already easier in so many ways and they are now starting to bounce off (literally as well as metaphorically) one another as they play - its lovely to see - a really special experience and a wonderful reward for all the tough times. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.
Oh by the way any reading you want to do on parenting and post baby stuff do NOW before the babies are born or it may be some time before you have a long enough gap in the daily events for reading non-essential material!!
