Welcome Gina!

It sound like you have very good chances of everything working out. Good luck with your cycle! It is cool that you have a few buddies. It seems like many of us are only a week or so apart. I am going to start stims on Saturday with my retrieval during the first week of October.

I hear the 2ww is killer :( , but the three month waits that I have been through have been horrible. We had a one month wait to meet the right doctor (we went through two before we found the one we have gone with), then one for testing, and one more for extra testing. Now we are finally on the way. I think this cycle will be a great one because our PT results will be in a few days before my husband's birthday. If the results are +, I am not going to tell him until his B-day! Then I will put it on his cake for the whole family to see. If it doesn't (not really an option  ), I will need him, so he will know right away.

Also, you mentioned you are 28 and DH is 31, So are we! I think these are luck numbers!

Good Luck!

Gina.S great things are going well for you! :-)

I too have not noticed mood swings. DH and me are significantly older than you and DH. I am 37 and DH is 42. My stim meds have stayed the same throught. The first scan after 4 days, doc told me he wished there were more follicals but the second scan yesterday revealed more which was more positive. I go for another scan on Saturday and was told I would likely be taking my trigger shot Saturday or Sunday night, so we shall see :-) It is getting close. :-)

I am beginning to wonder if I am starting to ovulate too soon, but maybe it is just the meds. :-) I will inquire with doc tomorrow. :-)

God Bless,

A Lot To Keep Up With...

Post by Charity »

All these different stages are just throwing me off...I don't know the whole schedule thing yet, but there's sure a lot going on...

Racheal...I know how you feel after your injection class. I was in shock when they were showing the progesterone needle & the cold oil! At the time I thought my insurance only covered the injectibles, and was freaking out...Thank goodness they allow the gel and tabs...Oh...And the thing with your DH. Too funny...I got one of those too!! My DH is so afraid of needles that to just get his blood drawn for the basic initial test took three weeks of pressuring him daily, and then after he had it done, he emailed me to tell me he was "only out of it for 20-30 minutes this time." I emailed him back telling him I was proud of my big boy, and I knew he could do it! What a dork!

Jenn...I think the pen can be given on either side of the belly button and above, but they didn't mention below the belly button...I would think it's all the same, but not sure on that one..? On the vitamins, the over-the-counter often times don't have enough of the recommended amount of folic acid if TTC, which helps prevent spinal bifida. The first 21 days of development are when the neural tube is formed, so you have to ensure your levels are high during those first few weeks after conception. Also, the twin rate increases with high levels of folic acid and IVF. Found quite a few articles out there on it, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I figure twice the joy... :D As long as they're healthy...

Nance...Sorry to hear about your cyst, and the delays to you cycle...I had one when I was taking Clomid, and it was painful and really stunk...But, you've got the good news of the great number of follicles on your RT ovary, so that's a silver lining. Keep us posted on what they tell you on the scheduling...

Gina S...Wow! Good luck with the ER/ET next week...Hey! Your age is the best for low incidence of many birth defects, statistically speaking...so you got age in your corner...I'll be 35 in two months, so I'm hearing that damn clock bonging pretty loud these days...

Nicola...What a pretty name...I came across a medical publication studying the stats of acupuncture and IVF, and from their stats, it was a huge statistical advantage...So, I know it seems like a lot out of pocket, but think of all you're already putting into this...You may as well put everything you got into this...I can't imagine having everything out of pocket! I'm keeping you in mind when I start worrying about the money aspect, and realize we've got it pretty good...You asked where I'm from, and I live in the States, in Wisconsin of all places...Yes, we are all farmers... Kidding...And I don't eat cheese, if you can believe it! I'm lactose intolerant...Hard being from "dairy state" and not being able to enjoy all those deep-fried cheese curds and hunks of Colby with a glass of wine...I figure that I've probably saved myself at least 30 pounds from it, though, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise...

Cowgirl...Good luck with your scan this weekend! Sounds like everything is going great for you...Keep us posted on what you find out...

Anyway...Thank you all for the warm welcome...If I've missed anyone...Sorry... :(

Sorry for the long posting again...I'm hoping to get better at the abbreviations and quit all this long-hand...Take care all...

Hello Fellow October Pincushions!

Post by ampmed1 »

New to posting these replys, posted 1st one in wrong place!

Thanks for the tip to this forum JECK! I am getting nervous as probably all of you are for the upcoming transfer. My stress level is less than it has been in the past. I have been doing acupuncture to help with the blood flow to my uterus and also for the stress. My acupuncturist is great!
This site has been very helpful. Is anyone doing the same meds as me? Lupron then Follistim? Last dose Lupron was last night. Follistim started am today, 150units twice daily. Then day after retreival I start progesterone in oil shots daily. Also vaginal prometrium. GEE, did I leave anything out. Lots of stuff! Praying that I will be the lucky one this time go round. Emotionally dont know how much more I can take. Would love to hear from everyone soon! Take care!

OK Dumb question . . . took last BCP on Wednesday night but am still on Lupron. Am I expecting AF or does the Lupron keep it away? I have bloodwork/scan on Tuesday (9/26) to see if I am ready for stims . . . if AF is coming, should it come before then? Thanks all!

I am so excited to see all the progress everyone is making! And hello to the newcomers, Gina, Charity and Anna. It's so great to read your stories.

Fingers crossed cowgirl for your scan this weekend! Good luck to everyone stimming!

JenJ...I'm right behind you with my schedule, and I was really surprised that I was supposed to get another visit from AF, too. For some reason I thought the last one, was the last one before treatment. I take my last BCP today, but what's strange is my baseline & confirm I'm ready for stims is scheduled for this Tuesday, too. They'll do a pregnancy test too, before I can start stims. From what I'm reading on their handout, I will start stims right after that. Then, on Oct 2nd, I'll go in for my first scan to see how stims are doing. It does seem strange they're gonna start stims before my period is over (or possibly even started)...Seems odd that I would have started Lupron three days after you, but will be on the same schedule as you with the stims..? I guess I'll find out more on Tuesday. Have a great weekend...

Hi Guys
Just a quick note to say AF has arrived. Feel a bit stupid though as feeling very weepy today. Silly I've been waiting for this to get going but can't believe I've got to go through it all again. Ah well Just the hormones!! Will call the clinic Monday to see what the next the next step is, but just a bit anxious as they said that cycle starts with AF on the 29th Sept, and it's only the 23rd.
Sorry no personals, I haven't read through the thread for a couple of days so need to catch up
Take care all and good luck

Hey gals, I hope you don't mind me joining in. This is my first IVF and I'm just now learning all of the terminology. I start my Lupron shots on Oct 11th. I'm supposed to get the medication by Fedex on Tuesday. I go back to my clinic on that day to get trained on how to do an injection. I'm really nervous about the shots. I don't think DH will like doing it. Question - "downregging" is this the Lupron period?

I spoke to my RE on Friday and he said the most he would transfer would be 2 embies and since I only have 1 ovary/my age, I probably won't have any left over to freeze. If I read the clinic stats correctly, if you make it to transfer, the % is 44% success rate. He said that if I were 37 or older, they would consider 3 embies possibly. I'm not sure if i agree. What do you think?

Good luck to all of you guys.
