Hi All,
I'm just amazed at how well things are going this cycle compared to the last one. I got the call to trigger at 11:00! Whoo-Hoo!!! ER is Wed at 10:00!! My follies are ready to pop! I have a 21, 20,19,15 and 2-11s. The nurse even seemed happy when she called with my instructions. Now I just hope they have eggs in all those follies. My hormone levels are perfect too. I'm trying to curb my excitment because I know my age factor can still kick in. I'm going to enjoy my poke free day tomorrow.

Franny-Good luck tomorrow!!! I have everything crossed for you!!! Let us know how thing go.

Karin- Glad things are better with Hannah. Teenagers are such a joy! I'm also happy things are going well with your ED. You both must be so excited to have found her. Oh, and my skin has been crazy too. I'm 47, you'd think it would clear up already  My dermatoligist gave me a bunch of creams but nothing is working. It's really bad on my chin. Oh well, hope your treatment works.

Teresa- Happy Birthday!!! :D Sounds like your transfer went great! What a perfect birthday gift!! Try to get lots of rest.

Ryann- Da Bears!!!! How bout that touchdown. Boy did they get lucky! Anyway,I would be frustrated too if I had to deal with your RE. I can't advise you on the embie issue because I don't know but I think you need a new RE. You don't deserve to be treated like that.

Well ladies, I trigger soon. I can't wait till Wed. I'll keep you posted.
Love hugs and baby dust to all,

Ryann - I cannot blame you, I'm hating your RE right now! UGH, what a horrible person to put you through all of that! I hope you can find another one soon or she can at least be a compassionate human being (yeah, right) during your FET so you don't have that added stress. And I would probably want to thaw all 4 too. They may not all survive the thaw and I wouldn't want to go through a FET knowing I only had that 1 frozen embie available...stress anyone??? I think my clinic actually discourages only having 1 frosty in storage so you're not paying all that money to store when that single frosty may not even survive the thaw.

Franny - Wishing you lots and lots and lots of good luck at your ER today!! Can't wait to hear from you later today!

Chili - Congrats on triggering and hope your ER tomorrow finds some great eggs!

Lauren319 - I had you down for starting stims today so get those follies growing girl!!!

Nancy - Congrats on starting BCP today! How long will you be taking them?

Hi girls...
My keyboard isnt working (missing alot of keys, thanks Zach) and I just lost everything I wrote! Grrrr! (Should have it fixed by Friday...waiting on the new keyboard to arrive now.)

Ryann...I am sooo angry for you....I so want to call this woman whom calls herself a doctor...and give her a piece of my mind!!! Since you asked and do have 4 frosties...I would do 2 and 2. Thawing survival rates are really up there...and they almost all make it these days...and if 1 doesnt...you can always have them thaw 1 or 2 more real quick.

Franny...I am just sooo happy for you!!! I'm soooo glad that you changed doctors and are FINALLY getting great numbers!!! Good Luck today!! We are doing an Elmo birthday party with 50 people coming...and that is a small family close friends only party. Ugh. lol

Chili...Wow! You are doing terrific and I'm just beaming ear to ear! Good Luck tomorrow!!

Karin...So glad that things are better with you and Hannah now.

Tiger...Gosh, I am just soooo sorry! My heart breaks for you.

Virgina...Have you poas or plan to? Your beta is really really early compared to most people. I wouldnt try just yet.

Brandy...that is just horrible what happened to your daughter! I am soo soo sorry.

Rio...Hope you and DS are feeling better real soon! Yes, we did Assisted Hatching.

Lauren319...Yes, we are insane. LOL You crack me up! The best part is...that after comparing the pictures from this cycle to Zach's cycle...2 of the embryos...look better than they did in Zach's cycle!! Yayy for starting stims today...it is today, right?! lol

Gi and Claudia...Thanks for checking in on us and cheering us on! Sooo excited for you girls! You're almost there!

Teresa...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Take it easy PUPO!!! Our betas are the same day...mine is always sooo far away. Do you plan to poas?

AFM...I ended up waking up Sunday morning with a UTI...probably due to the cath on Wed. Doc called me in a script...before it got too bad, Thank God. I also woke up with a Charlie Horse and a huge zit on my chin...so hoping these are all good signs. lol

Thinking postive here....I plan to start poas Thursday...maybe even tomorrow. I decided to see how early my BFP will be ...so I will know if I may be brewing multiples or not (very doubtful, but whatever). lol Besides...since Zach's birthday is Saturday...I want to know before then...to deal with the emotions one way or another before his party. I was thinking it would be really cool...if I got a BFP and didnt tell Bill...but instead wrapped a present up for him to open at Zach's party telling him the good news in front of everyone. Everyone knows. If I do this...what should I wrap up? Should it be directed toward Bill or Zach? I have a big brother shirt that I got last April before I miscarried. Or maybe I'll tell Bill beforehand and tell the rest of the family with a gift we open for Zach. Ideas?

Sorry for the lack of personals all week...I've been here reading...just too frustrated to type. I'll be back on more...once my keyboard is working again. I started this post over an hour ago (including the one I lost.) lol Ugh. :?

P.S. I think a few people asked me some questions about my cycle and such a few days ago...but I cant find any of it now. So if I missed your question...please ask again...I'm having a brain fart right now! lol

Ryann - Wow, your RE sounds like a real *****. I have one of those at my clinic, but since I told my nurse that I was ready to file a formal complaint with the hospital I don't see her any more. :) Evidently she is a brilliant embryologist but is completely lacking in people skills, so as long as I never have to interact with her again I have no problem with her working on my embies! It's just ridiculous that any RE could treat a patient with such coldness and disregard considering that at my clinic at least we had to go through a psych evaluation as part of the initial testing - so they know how emotionally traumatic it is. The good this is that you are learning to stick up for yourself. It's a tough lesson, but the fact is that nobody is going to fight this fight for us. If we're not willing to be strong and stand up for ourselves we might as well give up now. I agree with Tammy that you should go for 2 and 2. That is my plan with the 4 frosties I have. I'm a little surprised Dr. Biatch is willing to put in 3; my clinic will only put in 3 for women under 35 if you sign something agreeing to selective reduction if all 3 take. I couldn't sign it (how would I face the "lucky" ones I didn't decide to abort??) so as of right now they will only transfer 2 for me.

I can't believe how much action there is on this board, it makes me so anxious to get started! My appointment with RE is next week. I have asked this before, but would like more opinions as I'm realizing I might really have to take my son with me. I stopped in with Sean before as we happened to be at another part of the hospital getting him tested for CF when they called to follow up on my pregnancy for their stats. It was school vacation week so most of the doctors were out and nobody was there for appointments, but the rest of the staff was just delighted to see the results of their work. There was a flock of lab techs, nurses, and administrators around him all excited because they never got to see the babies they helped people have. I was surprised, and the only reason I could think of why people wouldn't bring their babies in is that it might be hurtful to the other women who didn't have a baby yet. Would that make you feel upset or hopeful because he's proof that the clinic is successful? Any thoughts?

Quick flying post from work....

Chili -- Sooo excited for you this cycle! Good luck!!!! XOXO

Franny -- OMG... best cycle yet for you. AWESOME! This is it... I know it. GL at ER hun, I'm thinking of you.

Teresa -- Happy B-day! You're PUPO... Woo hoo!

Tiger -- I'm so so sorry for your BFN again. I was really really praying hard. But I'm really glad you'll be going to Disney and having a great time. A new donor, a fun break, and a great attitude are your ticket to BFP next time!

Ryan -- Wow... what awful things your RE said to you. Geeze.... you were just asking! As for how many to thaw and transfer... boy... that's a hard one. Were they vitrified? If so then the thaw rate is typically > 90%. I think I would thaw two and transfer two or thaw all of them and transfer only the best two. You're young so you have a very high chance for success with that. There's been sooo many sad stories with women losing multiples that it scares me a lot. A woman my husband works with was preganant with triplets from IVF and she recently lost them all. The SART guidelines recommend 1-2 blasts if you are < 35 years old and are having your first transfer.

Tammy -- Can't wait until you POAS and we get to hear the news of your BFP!!!

AFM -- Lupron headaches are here! Ugh... so awful. I'm on a HUGE dose this time because every time I'm on Lupron I ovulate right through it. Baseline is on Friday... hopefully that's not the case and there's no cysts to delay me.

Ryann...I think your doctor is more worried about upping her SART stats than her patients. She comes across as someone who wants to make sure she is going to get you good and pregnant (even if that means jeopardizing the health of you and the babies) by getting you pregnant with multiples...hence the cancelling and treathening of cancelling all.the.time. This is cool and everything...but her agreeing to 3 with blasts, under 35, and first IVF...tells me that she does not have your best interest in mind...only hers. And, that just isnt right.

Lou...Sorry about the headaches. I hope they ease up for you. Good Luck on your baseline Friday...no cysts...no cysts...no cysts!

I'm at work and on my phone, but I wanted to clarify somehing really quick...my embies were frozen on day 3, so they aren't blasts. I love all the opinions, I just wanted to make sure I gave the right info! I also don't even know what grade the embies were, but she did say they only freeze the "good" ones, so I'm trying to believe that. So I'm not a total crazy person wanting to put in 4 blasts at 24!!!! Any idea the thawing success rates for day 3s?

Franny- Good luck today with your ER. I cant wait to hear your report! :D

Chili- How did your trigger shot go last night? Sounds like you will have a good number of eggies to retrieve!

Lauren319- How are you doing? Did you start your stims today? What do they have you taking?

Lou- Sorry for your Lupron headaches I know those can be killer. Try to stay hydrated and hopefully that will help a little. Are you only on Lupron? What's your next steps?

Ryann- I can't believe your RE!  I think its awful when doctors have no bedside manner. We are people afterall not just lab rats! Sorry I'm not much help on the success of frozen embies these are my first ones.

Tammy- You are going to start POAS on Thursday! I cant wait to see you post your BFP. I think having Zach open the present up would be cute. You could make a card or something on the inside say it was with love from his future brother(s) and/or sister(s). As for me, I dont know yet if I will POAS. I did last time and I feel like I jinxed my cycle. I guess if I do it will be the day of or the day before our beta and only if DH wants me to. I'm still terrified of getting bad results like last time.

Wondercat- If I saw you bring your baby into my RE's office it would be encouraging to me. My RE has a board of pics from successful cycles right by the payment window and I love looking at all of the "little miracles". Plus I'm sure the nurses really do LOVE to see their handy work.

I really need to vent about work/IVF. I work most closely with two women who are both about 46-47, one is my supervisor and the other was hired after me for a position that is lower than mine but doesn't act it. The other woman and I share a very small office. Neither ever had children, something my boss talked about feeling bitter about pretty constantly when I first started 3 years ago. I was trying to make her happy since she had been a complete ***** since I came back from maternity leave. Really. Nasty comments, flat-out yelling - or alternately literally not saying one word to me all day including not responding when I say "good morning." Everything but discuss openly with me what the f*** her problem is. When I tried that approach she said, "I have to leave before I say something I regret," and stormed out. So shortly after I came back we reorganized so that my office-mate could put up cubicle walls around herself. Where the two corners of our desks meet we had originally thought there wasn't going to be room to walk through, so we would use separate doors even though the door I would have to use is much less convenient to access our printer in the hall. However once everything was set up there was enough room - only this woman freaked, kept saying "THAT'S NOT THE PLAN!" over and over, and deliberately rearranged a file cabinet and other items so I couldn't get through. Even after the safety inspector came through and requested we move the file cabinet over we "can't" because it needs to be there so we have room for two boxes of old files that need to be shredded. It's her job to get them shredded, but strangely enough this has not happened for the past year that they have been sitting in our office. A few months ago I tried to get them included in a company-wide mass shredding. She AND my boss freaked out because this isn't like the other stuff people are shredding! No, this is "sensitive material"!! Um, maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking that ANYthing going to a shredder is likely to contain confidential/sensitive information; HR and Financial Services are sending over boxes to this shredder. That's the point of having it shredded instead of just tossing it in the recycle bin. Now today, we were out of manila folders so I took a few from the shred box. No sense in shredding perfectly good folders, right? When I mentioned this to my boss she wanted to know how we would be able to pull those files now. She frowned slightly. "What if we need to pull a budget?" What? You mean from the files of rejected grant proposals that should have been shredded for the past year??

Am I the one going crazy here???? I mean, I'm pretty sure my office mate is going through menopause (I have been alternately sweating/freezing my ass off all summer because she won't let me control the air conditioner - my nose has been dripping it's so cold when it was 95 outside!) and possibly also has some form of OCD since she frequently mentions not liking change in this clipped tone of voice. But what's the deal with these stupid boxes of stuff to be shredded that my boss is nervous to get rid of them? We get along incredibly well, go on a walk together every day and now many intimate details about each others personal lives. You'd think we were the CIA or something. I'm sitting here looking at them right now thinking it's like this conspiracy to drive me insane by everybody obsessing over them. It sounds silly, but I don't want this recurring argument hanging over me when I'm going through IVF and potentially announcing that I'm pregnant again since that seems to be what set this woman off. Everyone else I talk to about this thinks that my office mate is jealous that I had a baby and our supervisor is just completely intimidated by her aggressive behavior - and probably also jealous!

Sorry to vent on something only kind of fertility related. I just don't know what to do (if there IS anything I can do!), and you guys usually have some good advice!

Ryann --- Haha... glad you aren't a total crazy person! Thaw rates are good if frozen with vitrification. Ask your clinic. As for how many day 3's to transfer.... I still think I would do two. Your embies are likely very high quality due to your age and this is your very first transfer.

Teresa -- Yep... I'm just on Lupron and prenatal vitamins for now. After my baseline on Friday, I should be able to start Estrogen to build my lining. Then I go back for weekly lining checks until transfer on the 15th. I will stop Lupron and start Progesterone a few days before transfer I think.

Tammy -- Well said!

Wondercat -- As for brining your son with your to your RE.... If I were another patient there, it wouldn't affect me one way or another. The only time it bothered me was when I was having ER or ET and was in the surgical area and another couple was there with a young child that clearly didn't want to be there. I was under enough stress as it was without listening to a crabby crying toddler. But for a basic appt.... go for it.

Wow - busy girls sorry if I don't catch you all.

Wondercat - Yickes - what horrible people you work with. I think that they are jealous for sure. Are they in relationships? They are probably just spilling out the hate juice. Have a pic of the 3 of you and everytime they piss you off, look at the pic and think look at what I have and those poor souls don't... as for making it better, maybe sitting down and asking how can we all work together better? We don't necessarily have to be friends or like each other but we spend so much time here that we need to co-exist... sorry hun! I think it is also fine bringing baby on appt, some people might get offended but sometimes you have to bring them!

Rayn - you are not crazy. My coworker's wife had PCOS and at 28 finally transfered 6 and had one baby. Especially if they are 3 days. I transfered 4 at 36 with no fertility issues then and had one boy. I think 2 and 2 or 4... but I a=would be more agressive than most. Your RE sounds like a piece of work, she doesn't have to agree with you but she needs to be understanding and nice and explain things to you.

Tammy - I am too scared after my ectopic to tell anyone if we got a BFP - except for you girls! Did you tell Zack last time? I am not trying to be a party pooper - so please don't be mad at me. If everyone is on board and cool about it, I love the idea of a shirt for daddy and a shirt for Zack, cafepress.com has some real cute ones! I know you will get a BFP and you will have a healthy gorgeous baby!!! I know it! So give me that BFP news!

lou - hope you feel better

Tiger - huge hugs again

klinger - I still can't believe you are a grandma! I have a half sister who has kids older than me, it is pretty weird to have older niece and nephew ;) so cool of you to be a mom again, I wonder how different you will be as a mom 18 years later?

Chili - wow for follies and trigger! Lots of mature eggs and great fert report!

Turtle - do you mind posting your new protocol? I can't wait for the fert report! Don't worry about the spotting I see you are a worrier just like me!!! Fingers crossed for you!

Karin - so glad to hear things with Hannah are ok and that you are getting ready for your DE cycle!

Blang - that is awful, I would want to go beat her up myself. Yesterday I saw a kid yank a toy from DS hand and I wanted to go there and tell him NO! I am so sorry about that and I hope she pays for it and your DD recovers. How traumatic.

AFM - we still have our coughs and poor boy can't sleep. So cranky this am that DH said "cancel IVF" ;) joking. Men are not wired like we are! Still waiting, waiting is hard... 1 and 1/2 mos for a cycle, blahhhhhhh I thought I was starting meds today!

Ginger - Welcome to our thread and wishing you lots of good luck with your IVF! There a bunch of us going into IVF for the first time (me included) and ladies who have been through it before. You'll find they are just full of knowledge, tips, and support - it's a great thread to be part of!

Rio - It definitely will be odd to have my child(ren) be younger than my grandkids. Then again, DH is only 8 years older than my DD so some think we're probably odd to begin with. But hey, I had my kids at a really young age and DH is an old soul who didn't mind the fact that I was an old fart when we got together a few years ago LOL. What did Tom Hanks say in You've Got Mail...we're just a typical American family or something like that? I know I'll probably be more tired and have more gray hairs in motherhood this time around. But I also know I'm in a loving and stable marriage, we're financially stable, I'll have more patience and wisdom this time around, I work at home and my job is super flexible, and DH is just going to make an amazing Daddy. So I'm really looking foward to going through mommy-hood all over again so many years later!

Now, hopefully this IVF will work so I can go through all of the above. :D

Re: Fall 2010 Cycle Group

Post by Lauren319 »

Hi All,

It's busy around here. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. Look at all my girls already almost through this cycle!

Ginger - Welcome! This forum has provided so much support for me. I'm currently in my second cycle, having done my first one last month. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. There are a couple of ladies with PCOS on here too who I'm sure will be a great support for you.

Wondercat - I hate your office. I dont know if I would even confront them. They seem pretty settled in their obnoxious ways. As for your dilemma with bringing kids into the RE's: It depends on the day for me. I mean, if I'm getting bad news, the last thing I want to see is someone else's kid in the office, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Sorry, but I had to be honest.

Ryann - Once again, I hate your stupid RE. You are such a nicer person than I am. I'd blow up in her effing face. As for your question re: thawing: I'd prob do 2 and 2. I think that bc it only take a morning to thaw, the worst that happens is that they have to thaw more that day...although I would ask your RE because she sounds like a total ***** who might not let you do that. I dont know if I'd implant more than 2. It sounds like your ability to implant and hold a pregnancy will be totally normal, so I'd be careful what you wish for.

Lou - I had a rough time with Lupron this time around too. Weird because last time I was totally fine. Drink lots of water, hun!

Tammy - I would def do something cute for DH with a BFP. Do all of your family and friends know what you've been through? Do you want them all to know re your BFP? If so, you could def go ahead with your plan, but prepare yourself, my love. I can't wait to hear about your BFP Thursday!!

Chili - YAY! Sounds like things are going so well!

Brandy - Where do you live?! That's insane. It would take everything in my power not to beat the shit outta her.

Rio - Hang in there. I know it's been rough, but hopefully, it'll be worth it in the end and you'll forget all about the waiting...and the cough will seem like it was all just part of the process?!

Franny - this is definitely your time! I can't believe how ell things have been going for you. good luck with your ER. Let us know!!!

Tiger - I'm so sorry. Take some time and come back to us.

Teresa - Congrats, PUPO!!

AFM - started stimming this morning! Grow, follies, grow!!! I'm on 225 Gonal-f in the a.m. and two vials of Menopur and 5 units of Lupron in the p.m. It's a little more than last time, so fingers crossed. I can't believe I'm doing this all over again. The though of waiting and finding out the PGD results and all of that is kinda making me ill, but I guess I'll worry about that in a couple of weeks when I have to.

Ginger - Welcome! This forum is a great place to get support, especially if you don't know other people going through the process.

riogirl - I tried the calm "we have to get along well enough to work together" approach. That's when I got "we'll see if we're going to keep working together, I have to leave before I say something I regret!" Exit stage left. My supervisor's long-term relationship with a guy who has grown kids has been slowly ending, starting with her resentment when his daughter had a baby 3 years ago. The real nasty one has been with her husband for over 20 years, but no kids. Just lots of cats.

Klinger - My grandmother had her first DD at 17 and had my mom when she was 40. She became a grandmother at 35, so my mom has two nephews who are older than she is. I think they prove how little age matters - my grandparents were 16 and 32 when they got married. They had 40 years and 9 children together (in a 2 bedroom apartment with no heat or hot water, just a woodburning stove and shared toilet down the hall, if you can imagine!) before my grandfather died. Who wants to be a "typical" family anyway? :)

Lauren319 - Yeah, most people I talk to about this hate my office. My supervisor is usually very cool, but when it comes to this other woman just completely wimps out on supporting me. ::sigh:: Since all prior attempts at confrontation have gone distinctly not good, I'll just go home tonight and drink pinot grigio until I can convince myself they're really just jealous of my epic post-baby rack... And thanks for your honesty, no need to apologize. Congrats on the stimming - talk about being jealous, I am so anxious to start!
