Amanda - Holy moly! You poor thing!!! It almost looks like you were about to lose your finger. :( Good thing you got that ring off when you did. Is there anything that can be done for swelling like that? Super news that the ointment's working. At least you are getting some relief from that now.

Hope - Blame the old, crappy machine. I'm sure baby is coming along just perfectly. I've always feel like those measurements are as accurate as the tech is capable. Those little Xs have to be perfectly placed to get an exact measurement. You know? The slightest misplacement can equal days. Try not to worry. Did your OB seemed concerned?

Lou - P90X is a program that my whole family does and LOVES. My DH, my parents, and my MIL all swear by it. I totally thought those were at least part Ab Ripper X abs when I saw them.

Thanks, ladies, for all the reassurance regarding my situation. I've been dwelling on what that nurse did and decided to talk to her face to face tomorrow when I go pick up my note, and ask her to rewrite it. DH said that it could just be that she doesn't understand that I'm literally incapable of operating a bus. So, we'll see.

Amanda your poor fingers.... I was shocked when I saw the photo. I'm glad you got your ring off safely - I'm sure you won't have trouble getting it back to what it looked like. Besides, it will be a precious little scar of pregnancy and what you and your husband created between you. :)

Hope - I'm sure it was just the machine, and baby_blu is right, the slightest turn or misplaced pointer can make a lot of difference at this stage. If it were way off I'd be concerned but not four days. :)

Lou - glad you're getting to experience the real miracles in the world.. LOL I have a lot of childless (by choice) friends who have experienced the life you talk about.. now that they're hitting their 40's they're really wondering if it was worth giving up having kids for.. I'm so glad things went well - and your jelly bean with arms is very cute!

Leora it sucks to start a job and not like it. Maybe it'll get better with time. Sorry you're feeling so sick - most of us prayed for MS and then feel sorry for the ones who get it. LOL

Happy - I know women like that and it's fine for them, but it's not right for them to make anyone else feel badly about it. In today's world we can have a bit more time with our babies, which is a LOT more important. :)

Anna; I'm on the heavier side! 5'6" and started out at 165 (when I was TTC!!! LOL) I gained 19 lbs after three years of TTC and got pregnant at 184.lbs. I had actually went up to 197lbs 8 months before we became pregnant with this baby, but lost 13 over the summer months. I've gained 10 lbs so far which my doctor is TOTALLY happy with.

I had my 24 week doctor appointment today and everything was perfect. The doctor said he was really happy with the fact that I was an older mum and doing so well. Baby's heartbeat was 144, and there were tons of kicks during the exam which amused my doctor.

ok, i'm gonna brave this busy board again :)

chris/to have fun!!!! CONGRATS!! omigod. i'm soooo happy for you! and yes, you'll be a wreck til your u/s, and then til your next one, and so on, and so on. .... lol.. my insanity is still continuing although it's better

lou- i loved what you said about your u/s.. wow, that's some amazing things you've done over the years.. but yes, this tops all. i'm so glad your doppler worked.. you're inspiring me to follow through and get one

dandme, thanks for encouraging me to stick around.. all the posts are kinda overwhelming

leora, congrats on your twins! that's awesome, and i'm sorry you have such bad m/s.. ugh

hi to everyone else, and to rio, mellow, sd, anna, and the other familiar names on here... i'm doing well.. although i just feel like somethings misssing for me as i haven't heard the h/b in over a week and my obgyn is away for 2 wks... i just need to buy a darned doppler. i was trying to save the money, but it's just not worth not getting it i think. thankfully i'm showing quite a bit which is reassuring.. i feel kinda blue at times lately though, sorta disconnected and a constant low grade worry that maybe something will go wrong with the pregnancy.. i was like this before though and it was all fine...

take care everyone!

You know you've moved into the 'breath easier' zone, right? :) Thing is, after a few years of ART, we get used to a hell of a lot of bad news. It's very disconcerting for many of us to actually realize and believe that we have gotten over the tough spot and are actually pregnant. When we finally got a sticky bean I went through a 'now what?' stage. It seemed like I should be in mourning, or planning my next cycle, or waiting to miscarry. it took a few months to really get it through my head that I was actually going to have a real baby. Get the doppler. Until you feel the baby moving all day, it's the only thing that will bring you comfort. I used mine once or twice a day until lately, when my boy began to move all day long.

SDtrying#2 wrote:Okay so i have something a bit off topic and a bit embarrassing, but perhaps interesting conversation to pass the time while out babes grow ;) So I used to be super into sports and running pre-baby (can't claim the cut up abs of Lou, but i was fit and my life was very committed to very routine running...my running club was my social life..."vacation" meant going for a races) Sooooo everything changed post-baby, some of it was the difficulty with work/mom/wife balance, but actually that wasn't the main problem. The main problem has been exercise stress incontinence  it is awful for me and it is not something a small pad helps. I need a big grandma sized one  anything impact you can just forget it. I know there are things i "can" do. I'm sure I could pick up biking/spinning or other things, but every time I think about these things I get depressed that I'd rather be running. I walk so I don't get overweight....but the idea of muscle tone or true fitness is just gone...sooooo sad for me.

Just curious if anyone has the same problem or had any thoughts or suggestions....sorry if it is TMI, but all the talk about fitness made me kinda sad  I've heard of P90X, is there a lot of impact involved (ie jumping) maybe that's something I might like. I'm not really one for indoor workouts (Since I live in SoCal) but if I could walk outside and have something like that for muscle toning and a bit more anaerobic training that would be way cool.
SD -- P90X is a series of DVD's. There is one that is like kickboxing and is sorta high impact but the bulk of them are more resistance training either with dumbells, bands, or your own body weight. You would definitely get the muscle tone you're after. And also do it in the privacy of your own home in about an hour. The system really really works. I think you could do 90% of it! I'm so sorry for your stress incontinence. I can imagine how that must affect your life. Spin classes are also a favorite of mine at the gym. Since your in southern cali, can you bike outside or Rollerblade on pavement (no bouncing)? DH and I often take our Rollerblades to the paved bike trails at forest preserves in the summer. I wear a heartrate monitor which is calibrated to my metabolism and end up burning close to 700 calories per hour! Just wear knee pads, wrist guards for protection and obviously wait until post baby to try. Also, if you do walking, consider getting 1 lb ankle weights to take walking to the next level. I bought some and wear them while brisk walking on the treadmill at an incline. Great to do while pregnant! I also have an elliptical at home which I use fairly regularly. That's low impact as well.

Stephanie......Screw your co-workers! Your concern are your babies. Enjoy maternity leave! That's what it's for!

Happy......Your boss couldn't be serious. Ignore insane remarks like that. Everyone is different and all of us IVF ladies weren't lucky enough to get knocked up easily like most women. We've worked harder for our miracles and want to protect them with all of our being.

Lou......I wish I had your energy! Your little jelly bean is adorable! The vaginal u/s pics are alway so much better. I really miss my RE u/s. My OB's machines aren't that great and the pictures suck. When I go to the MFM, the machines are awesome, but the pictures they choose to print aren't that great either.

Amanda.......I felt so bad for you when i saw your post. Cutting off your ring had to be painful. I would have been scared to death that they would cut me. I hope that it can be repaired.

Ryann......Wow! You've only gained a few pounds? I'm sure you'll catch up. Everyone is different. One of my friends only gained 17lbs with a singleton because she was sick the entire pregnancy.

Leorira....Yay for 2 heartbeats! :D :D

Hope......I'm sure that your babies are growing just fine. They'll catch up!

Anna......I'm 19w3d and I've gained 10lbs...which I feel like is alot. I think I started at about 117 and am now 127. I was wondering the same thing and asked the same question a little while ago. I'm eating healthier, walking and trying to work out a little here and there....nothing major.

Rio.......How's your little girl doing?

Mellow.....Any names yet?

AFm.....Thanks everyone for the advice on the ticker. I haven't tried to do it yet. I will try today. Fingers crossed that I can do it! I'm terrible at this sort of thing. I do good to post anything. I've been feeling the babies move.....which is AWESOME! Before I wasn't sure if it was them. Now I am. It's strange and amazing....all at the same time. My 20wk scan is Thursday! I can't wait!

Sorry I know that I missed a bunch of you ladies. I will catch up with you later! Have a great day! :D

Leora - congratulations on two heartbeats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SD - I don't have stress incontinence but I had something weird happen after my c-sec, I could not feel my bladder at all! I didn't know if it was full or empty for a long time, it sucked. I still pee a little when I cough and sneeze (when not pregnant). I have an eliptical at home and a set of weight equipment. I also find that as a working mom I feel so guilty leaving DS to go do something by myself, so I try to take him in a stroller with me for a walk or take him to the park and we both run after the dogs. I think setting up something at home will make it easier with the second one. I am just always feeling guilty for not spending enough time with one, I suspect it will be worse with two! I did something close to what Lou did a few years ago and got in tremendous shape, strong and healthy and great abs, but it also took a lot of time every day. I just find that the stresses of trying to be a great worker, great mom, in shape and a nice home sometimes 24 hours isn't enough! :)

Stephanie - i strongly suggest tying up two pillows to the nurse's belly and having her pretend to be driving a bus, maybe she will get it!

Karin - hey neighbor! All settled in?

Happy - your boss is a souless idiot to have come back so early after having a baby, do you seriously think that commands respect? Not in my book, I don't want to be a crappy mom - thanks! You are doing the right thing hun!

Lou - what an adorable bean, nothing prepares you for the mushy Hallmark moments like this huh? How awesome! I am with you, I have jumped out of a plane, bungee jumped, scuba, hangliding and nothing compared to the thrill of seeing that little bean, the mushiest moment for me was hearing him cry in the delivery room!
