Jackie

Just saw your post. If you are doing the Gestone injections?? Yes I did have them this time and how you are doing them yourself is beyond me!!!!!!!!!!!

I have done the heparin ones and all the others myself but not those. The needle is huge and the nurse had difficulties getting it into the site for me. The gestone is a really oily liquid and I think as time goes on, the skin hardens a little in the injection site making it a little more difficult. Maybe you could try to get dh to do it in your bum??

Good luck!

Hi Jen

Thank you for your quick reply.
Yes I am having Gestone injections and I am amazed I am able to do them myself! My husband won't even be in the same room when I am injecting he is absolutely petrified of needles. When he had to have the pre IVF blood tests last year it took 4 nurses to hold him down and they were convinced he would pass out and made him lay down. Thankfully we didn't need to have them this time or I think we would still be waiting. It was really annoying because everyone thought he was terribly brave and bought him walnut whips etc and if you talk to him now he acts like some sort of hero!!! So having him inject me in the bum is out of the question.
I am finding it hard breaking through the skin, I use a 2.5ml syringe and find it difficult to move so I did it with a 1ml syringe yesterday and thought the plunger was going to snap in half. My leg didn't hurt to much when I did it but I couldn't even lay on my right side last night it was so painful. Oh well, hopefully it will all be worth it.

Hope you are ok

Jackie, you made me LOL which was really needed today. People gave him Walnut Whips for being so brave???...hahahahaha! What will they give you?? a medal? it's you doing the hard yards not him....

Jen, what's the story? I saw your signature message. You're still pg? how often do you have blood tests to check the numbers? when's the next? how do you feel? Are you in any way feeling positive or still waiting for the worst??

I don't want to start a new thread but I read some amazing things in Zita West's little bible...

1. More than one cup of coffee a day can increase the time to conceive (naturally) by 50%
2. Decaffeinated is as bad due the process it goes through.
3. IVF researchers found that a daily multi-vitamin increased the chances of success by 40%

I've only just started reading it but it's full of useful info. I switched to herbal teas recently but then read that fennel (one of my faves), amongst many others, is associated with infertility....what's left??

Hi everyone else,
hugs

Debra,
Sorry to butt in but I drink Rooibosch (Redbush) tea. You can get it from the "Free From" sections in supermarkets. I think this is alright to drink.
By the way did you mean one cup of coffee increases or decreases the chances of conception?????? I thought it decreases but you've written increases :?

Jackie,

HOLY ---T you are one tough gal! What in the heck are walnut whips?(too funny)..

Debra,

Can I just say that the Z. West stuff makes my head spin..If you meant 'decrease' about the coffee, well, I've been off caffeine for years now..NADA babies..also, multi-vitamin everyday, for the last 7 years hasn't gotten me a baby, either! Then there are women who drink loads of coffee, smoke, party etc all the time.. and push babies out left, right and center... Sorry to be vulgar, but I guess I'm just pretty cynical about these things now. I mean, if coffee were so bad, wouldn't it be a form of birth control by this time? (all right, obviouslyI buy into this healthy stuff or else I wouldn't be doing it-I'm just a bitter old lady!!)

hugs all around,

Hi Girls

Still here yes.........levels doubled on Saturday and again today so they want me back to do another HCG on Thursday..........it is crucifying, not knowing what is going to be........they haven't really given me much hope just said it is looking alright???????

Please pray!??

Jackie - I was told not to use the smaller syringe as the stuff is just too thick to come out and you will end up with problems...........also another tip, heat it up before you draw it up and inject it.......the first time I did it I did not do that and I had cramp in my bum alll day!!

Speak soon girls

Love a very worried Jenfxx

Hi Everybody

Jen -I do so hope that you get the right levels on Thursday, I can't believe what you are going through, I am sure everybody on here is thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Elizabeth -Walnut Whips are marshmellow covered in chocolate with a walnut on top. can't stand them myself!!! you think my hubby is bad with that -if you were to mention bloodtests he rolls his sleeves up and shows the hole -yes thats right 20 months later and apparently it is still there!!!
Funny because there wasn't much of a hole to begin with. But my legs are black and blue and he doesn't say a thing ---GIT!!!!

He is actually standing over me protesting his innocence at the moment and thinks it is all very amusing!!!

Well, I'm off to do the dreaded injection will definitely try warming it up a bit before I try.

thanks

Jackie

Hi...I hear you Elizabeth! Everyone knows people who take no care whatsoever and still have healthy, easy to conceive, good weight babies. Another item for the 'why?' list.

SophieJane. I just reread my first message and it still makes sense. A cup of coffee a day increases the length of time it takes to conceive (naturally). Ie. it will take longer if you drink coffee (apparently).

I drink redbush too...I wish I bought tons of it whilst I was over there as it was mega cheap, but I'd never heard of it at the time...sigh!

Jen...that's great. I can see why you're still cautious but this is so much better than you'd anticipated. Keep positive please!

hugs

SophieJane, I meant South Africa when I wrote 'over there' not the UK! It only costs a couple of quid a box here but compared to the rand price, that's super expensive. Thanks for the offer though!

How are you?

Blimey Debra I am having lots of Bridget moments.
I'm fine .. am surprisingly very positive at the moment and can't wait for test date. thre is no way I am going anywhere near those evil hpt's. They make you so much worse.
Hope you are well, and nice seeing you still on the boards. Are you definitely not having another go?. I agree there's a time to stop.
