Heather,
Am so sorry to hear your news. AF is a *****.
Sounds like an excellent idea to change clinics, I think the Nambour clinic that you might be referring to has a wonderful reputation, I have a friend who has a one year old thanks to this particular unit, so good vibes from there.
Have a fabulous dinner out, drink lots of red wine, great weather for it!

Heather - so sorry to read your post, I know you wern't happy with the way the treatment had gone - hope you and DH have all the support you need at this dificult time and that a new clinic is the answer, when you are both ready to move forward.

You are in our thoughts

Good morning(?) all,

Just sniffed for the first time - ahhhhhh it's not so pleasant is it..... I have said this in an other thread but finally I really feel like this IVF things has started... .

Missing my husband soooooo bad. I know we made a decision and I said / thought I am strong enough to do this on my own. But it's getting harder and harder everyday. He can't see my tears, fears and worries - I know he feels it, but but but........   .

thanks ladies, I really am fine though.

Oh Tiger, you poor bugger. Sounds like you are having a really bad day. The sniffing is foul isn't it, I think it is the worst part of the treatment. So, on the bright side, it is all uphill from here!

Do you and DH have web cams? That might bridge the divide a bit, just being able to see him would make a big difference. I wish I was in Melbourne, I would take you out for a decaf, a girlie chat and a big fat piece of cake!

I really hope the next six weeks passes at lightening speed for you and you and DH are reunited once again.

Take care and try and have a good weekend.

Hugs
Heather

Tiger,
The sniffing really is a tad gross isn't it..I used to worry about sneezing it out (I am a bit sneezy at the best of times) and then losing the dose, used to also hate it when the chemical dribbled down the back of your throat and you got that dreadful taste..YUCKO!!, but so worth it in the end when you have that little baby..
Shame we aren't all in Melbourne, decaf coffee and a fat piece of cake sounds right up my alley at the moment..
Have just been to the park with Ms Boo, was lovely and sunny, she loves the park, lots of kids to watch and a little stream to paddle in..

Hi all,

Heather I'm really sorry about your news, but glad that you're ok. Sounds like you've got some v. promising options for going forward which is excellent.

Tiger, I hated the sniffing too. To be honest I found it a lot worse than the injections. But it's very exciting that you're underway at last. I think Heather's idea of webcams for you & hubby is an excellent one - hope you're able to work something out.

Bel, a coffee and cake would have been lovely! Your day in the park with Miss Boo on Saturday sounds wonderfully relaxing.

I had a peaceful weekend too. My parents and brother were up and along with hubby they all made a fuss over me and wouldn't let me do much at all. I've been getting some mild cramps, which I'm hoping is just the baby and my tummy growing. I'll be glad when the next scan comes around (2 weeks to go). And roll on the end of the nausea. I'm meant to be having a dinner party at our place for a few friends but have delayed setting the date as I can't face cooking a full-on meal yet! Maybe I'll just suggest a restaurant get-together instead...

Hope you all have a good week,
Deanne

Hi All,

It is great to see that we have a place to go to air our thoughts and concerns but also to encourage others. This site has been great for me as I can see that there are other people who are experiencing similar circumstances.

As we seem to have quite a few Aussie and Kiwis, identifies the need to continue this thread.

I am originally from Victoria but currently live in Central QLD. I don't get the opportunity to speak with other people as we have our treatment in America. This makes things a little harder to deal with sometimes when you have to keep everything bottled up, with no immediate outlet. These forums are a great way to release your thoughts and to provide information that may help others.

I am just sorry that I did not find this site earlier.....

Cheers Di

Hi all,
Dianne, this thread is fabulously supportive, I'm really glad that you've found us..The experience of infertility is such an isolating one, but at least through this site we can feel less alone. Where are you up to in your cycling?
Deanne, bet you can't wait for your next scan!!..I used to love the scans, amazing how quickly your little bubby will be growing. I felt what was a bit like mild cramping as well, my obs said that it was everything (ligaments / uterus / pelvis generally) stretching to accomodate a growing baby.
We are having a tough time at present, Annie is still not well, she is having temperatures now as well as a productive cough and moist sounding chest..We have had her at doctors on Friday and Sunday, if she's still not at least getting better tomorrow I'm going to take her back again...
Take care all
Belinda

Hi Mel B

We have just finished our sixth cycle, which ended in a miscarriage. We are opting for rest and will do another cycle towards the end of this year.

Best of luck to all

Hi All,

just had another sniff 15 minuts ago ---- still bothering me - what an awful thing!!!!! This is my only 3rd day on it too..... .

Thanks Heather for invitation for decaff and cake with you up in Rockhampton, I would love to; but I guess the distance does make it a little challenging for us ay :).

Bel, please keep us posted on our little Annie-Boo..... :( I hope she will get better very very soon and be her happy-sunny self again.

Deanne, I think restaurant idea is a better idea too  !!

Diane, I am really happy that you found us, you can say anything you want, anything you need here, not only about IVF but other stuff too... ie BB, pets, hubbies, whatever - we are always here for you. So no need to bottle up anymore - LET IT ALL OUT GIRL !!! I really love it here - everyone you speak to genuinely understand what I am going through. And yes this is an unique thread for us and I hope it will continue on (I will make sure it will - even if I have to talk to myself  ) because we are different to US or UK...

Cheers, Tiger

HI gals,
Tiger, sniffing is quite odd, least it means you're well on your way..
Annie has a middle ear infection, she just got progressively worse, spiking temperatures, miserable, then lethargic and listless. We took her up to our local hospital and they diagnosed the ear infection with one glance. Apparently her ear was red and mucky and "angry" looking, so we have started oral antibiotics and she is supposed to be feeling brighter within 24 hours. Can't wait to be honest, has been an exhausting time..
Hope all is well, gotta run, need to research middle ear infections on the net!

Hello Ladies

Belinda, poor Annie, it seems to be just one thing after another. Ear infections are horrible things, I really feel for you at the moment and poor little Annie Boo. I hope the antibiotics help her to a speedy recovery and provide mum and dad with some much needed R&R too!

Tiger, hang in there, the sniffing will be over before you know it! It really does suck though. Just focus on the prize and it will seem worth it.

Di, this is a great place to visit. I have found it really educational plus the support is amazing. We haven't told anyone either so it is great to have a place to come where people understand what I am going through. Don't know what I would have done without this board.

Deanne, glad to hear you are being fussed over....keep up the good work! Like Tiger, I think the restaurant idea is a winner....unless your guests would like dry biscuits and ginger ale! I can't imagine cooking a posh dinner when there was a good chance I was not going to eat it, not to mention that you will probably feel even worse due to the cooking smells, etc. Hopefully the nausea will disappear shortly and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Nothing much happening in my world. Still haven't made a decision about a clinic as it is difficult to get time off work at the moment. I am taking time off in a couple of weeks when my mum comes to visit and we are going to Hamilton Island to do nothing really (except drink lots of colourful drinks and eat lots of seafood)...I really don't want to push my luck by asking for even more time off. I will just go with the flow and see what happens!

Best wishes to all and have a great week.

Cheers
Heather

Hi all,

Di, this is a great board and like the others I'm v. happy you've found us.

Bel, I hope the antibiotics are kicking in for Miss Boo as we speak. Poor little thing. I can imagine how stressful and tiring it must be for you and DH. Hope she picks up soon.

Thanks for the reassurance about the cramps being quite normal. I guess there is a fair bit happening down there!

Heather, a trip to Hamilton island sounds like a great idea. It's so good to get away from the normal routine and have time to look at the options. It must be hard having just started a new job. I think IVF is a part-time job in its own right, so can understand your concerns about needing more time off if you have to travel for treatment. I'm sure it will all work out for the best though.

Hang in there with the sniffing Tiger. I took great satisfaction in crossing off each dose!

We had an eventful time with our puppy last night. While I was out picking DH up from the station he nicked some chocolate off our kitchen benchtop (he must have made the jump of his life to reach it). When we got home he had an almighty sugar hit and was running around madly for an hour before crashing out. Fortunately it didn't make him sick, but it was a bit of a worry! I mentioned what happened to my Dad last night on the phone (the puppy is the apple of his eye). So Dad rang me before he went to work this morning to make sure his 'grandson' was ok! It made me smile.

Midweek at last - only 2 days til the weekend.

Cheers
