Re: Fall/Winter Board Combined (Sept2011-Feb2012) This is it

Post by WeHaveHope »

Hi friends,
Quick update. I went to the Hematologist today for my follow up appointment. We spoke for quite sometime and discussed all of the available options, pros, and cons of all of the options. We agreed the best option at this point is to start the Lovenox. So, she requested that I confirm the first faint positive HPT by doing anotherone this evening. I spoke with my RE and explained everything this afternoon and he agreed with the plan. This evening I took another HPT and got a slightly darker line. If course, still very faint so I will begin the Lovnox injections tonight and go in for Beta a's planned on January 9th. The only slight concern is that since I am using PIO I'M injections, with the Lovenox I may experience pretty bad bruising or bleeding. So we may need to switch to the vaginal progesterone suppositories sooner. But my RE said that we will cross that bridge when we get there. We won't need to think about that until an u/s in which we see a HB. So far we have never made it that far so we have a very long way to go. Below is my HPT from this evening for those that are as obsessed as I am with POAS

Hi ladies, crazy day!!!

Indigo: oh those tests are evil, good luck today x

Maria: fabulous - a line!!! As Lyd says, the lovenox will keep those little ones there :-)

Blue: fabulous photos!!! Sounds like an amazing holiday. You asked about cardio, its pretty low as im doing strength training at the moment, hope to start trampolining next week.

Rosie: thank you and you are quite right. Good luck with the cleaning person. Sounds like everything has got right on top of you with the computer and work and I hope tomorrow is better x

LauraN: good luck tomorrow!

Lyd; good luck to you too. And you might not " technically" have ohs but that's only a technicality, you have all the symptoms!

Jayne: thank you. And i know what you mean about feeling like the meds are poison. Go gently with yourself

Christy: how are you?

Leora: im sorry this is so slow. Physically how are you feeling?

Kerri: good luck for sat :-)

Kala: you poor thing! Wishing you a speedy return home

Anton: I hope you enjoyed the documentary and the movie :-)

Lauren: lovely to hear from you. I'll be cycling with you :-)

Afm: oh what a day!!! Started with my osteo saying my pelvis and hip are wrecked! Three sessions this week might get me back to light exercise this week!! Weighed myself, 5kgs off my target and bearing in mind what you all suggested I called clinic, spoke to nurse, said I wasnt at target and like you ladies, she suggested I wait and start meds end feb for a march 26ish transfer so I've booked it in. Thank you for your help and advice and care ladies.

Got home, took a call from my friend married to sinead oconnor. He was hysterical due to something that happened. Went straight into town to pick him up, cancelled all his therapy clients, tried to think of best this g to do given new information, got him sorted and was due to go home, change and go to my friends parents 50th anniversary part. Got into car, key wouldn't turn! Called rescue service, ignition barrel gone, they had to hotwire it!! Dh came down with my clothes for party - minus my bag, purse, makeup and hairbrush!! He had to get car home so new part could be ordered. I changed into clothes in a pub and totally unkempt went to party via taxi and home same way!!!! Im exhausted!! Now have to hire car (well dh has to) first thing in morning and i have a 730 blood testbefore work!!

Phew, sorry for ranting!!!!

Lauren - welcome back. And just wanted to share my supplement experience that resulted in better sperm for DH and much better embryos for us this cycle. We're took fertile max and coq10 for 5 months. We got much better sperm and embryo quality.

Lyd-thanks for asking. The Lovenox injections are SQ injections much like Lupron. They are administered in the abdomen daily. The issue is that since Lovenox is a blood thinner, this could present a problem because of the PIO injection which is given IM. The potential problem is that since the PIO is a much deeper injection, with the blood eventualy being so thin there could be bleeding at the injection site or severe hematomas that would develope at the the injection site because of bleeding under the skin. I joked with my RE today. He said that i am going to have to cary his phone number around because i may get so bruised that people may think that my dear hubby is besting me up. Oh my, can you imagine. We are not there yet with the potential bruising or bleeding so I'm not going to worry about it now. I gave myself my first Locenox injection tonight after my DH gave me the PIO injection. I have to say, the Lovenox injection was a little bit more uncomfortable then I thought it would be. More like a stinging sensation but it wasn't that bad. Compared to the daily PIO IM the Lovenox is nothing.

We- can you use the numbing cream for your.shots? That should eliminate the sting. or maybe a little ice to numb the site. I know my numbing cream eliminated the sting 99% of the time with my stomach shots and of course I am still using it for my pio injections.

LauraN-oh yes, I use Prilocain 2.5%/Lidocain 2.5% Cream for my PIO injections in addition to applying ice for about 5 min. But I never had to use it for the Lupron injections and I definantely don't think I will have to use it with the Lovenox. I'm ok with a little sting here and there. I definantely would not be able to do the daily PIO if it wasn't for my numbing cream and ice. Thank God for that combination. It works rather well.

I pray that you get wonderful news tomorrow when you have your u/s.

Ninde,
You had me giggling over here about hotwiring the car, but whew what a whirlwind of a day... You'll always have a personal memory of getting ready your parent's 50th anniversary to say the least! I hope your friend is ok, I know he is glad to have someone to talk to and consult with, separating is hard enough.

Maria,
Sounds like the shots are being a pain in the royal. Seriously it's crazy how they can thin the blood making you bruise but glad to hear the nubbing cream/ice pack numbs the area to relieve the pain. I'm counting down to the 9th with you! Thanks for updating the board! :D

Lyd10,
My doctor has me on Neevo vitamins and dh on the Utimate Man supplements- but wondering if adding some fertile max and coq10 to our regimen might be too much? Is this something your RE suggested trying? I also have read about some of our former cycling buddies having a great outcome with this? Just researching the idea to find if RE's have recommended it too and if these suppplements are available over counter or by rx? Congratulations on your success!

Gina,
You asked me about how much does the program cost, for us in Florida it would cost around 21 grand BUT they do offer financing options/payment plan that I'm interested in learning more about. Hopefully the IR will be decent.

Blue,
Glad you had a blast in Vegas, lol looking at those rollercoasters in person woud be enough to make me quisey. So true with the IVF program, *up to 70% back* it would be my luck to get only 20 percent back and be screwed so this is why we find out ahead of time. Also I've learned you always get everything in writing, never trust an RE's word for it and watch out for hidden cost. My brother was charged for icsi 3 months later after his son was conceived, yep the clinic sent them a nice bill in the mail for around $800.00. These things should always be in contract so the coordinator said she'lls end us the contract in the mail but I still want to go through it with someone to ask questions.

AFM: work is always a great distraction, sometimes I wish I could have more hours there! But when I was full-time, I struggled with appointments now I don't but what to do with the time now that I'm waiting for our next cycle to begin. Could always organize the closets and throw out some clothes I've had since high school, yep for the most part been that long, and I'm a pack rat. You would think the shelving unit we installed in there would of helped some but I really need to go through everything I haven't worn in the last 5-10 years. Sorry I'm rambling... Tomorrow I'm off and will definately call the coordinator about the IVF Refund Program and get the application filled out over the phone. I guess there's nothing more fun then chatting about your medical history to a complete stranger, I just hope we get approved for 3 tries...

We - I see what you mean about the blood thining. That makes sense and definitely needs to be watched for. And as hou said you can always switch to suppositories.
In my experience PIO is the best at keeping the uterus happy and free from bleeding. Suppositories also work great, but the one time I was on suppositories instead of PIO I developed a bleed from the uterus for 2 weeks when I was pregnant. I've never bled on PIO. If course that's not really a good data point.i think a lot of women on PIO here have also had bleeds during pregnancies.
Anyway, one step at a time.

Sunshine, you maybe want to compare the ingredients on fertile max with those on ultimate man. Fertile max contains compounds specific for sperm health, like coq10 and others. I am not sure about ultimate man. And you don't need prescription for it either. I know moorebaby DH also took coq10. After she got pregnant that's when I got my DH taking coq10. You can buy that at any drugstore.

Ninde, I am sorry you had such a rough day. The hip and the car trouble. That's just too much! I hope you have a better day tomorrow!

Maria~ your RE is correct. You will have bruises everywhere. I give Lovenox all of the time to my patients but we rarely give IM shots anymore. There are too many complications with IM shots and most medicines can be given IV now. I haven't given a IM shot as a nurse in over 5 years. I gave myself IM shots when I was pregnant with my son but I choose the suppositories now. The suppositories may be messy but it will be less painful for you because the bruising will be much worse with Lovenox in your system. The only IM shots that are routinely given by nurses are vaccines. Again... big congrats on the positive! Kind of exciting to move forward and it sounds like they finally figured it out because obviously you implant without problem. Yay to +HPT!

Thanks Lyd10 for the supplement information. Now if only we could find something to guarantee "embryo implantation" we would all be millionaires! How are you feeling tonight? Hopefully the swelling has gone down and nobody at work has been curiously asking yet. :D

Congrats Maria!!!!!! Awesome positive! Good luck with the Lovenox. You'll get used to it quickly. I remember the sting/burn feeling and the bruising. I would be careful with the PIO. The suppositories are disgusting, but it may be worth it to avoid the hassle of worrying about bruising. What a way to start the new year!!!!!!!
