Hi Ladies,
The c-section wasn't that bad after all. The epidural didn't really hurt a slight sting they also gave me morphine for pain which lasted about 24 hrs. Once it kicks in you can't feel anything from the chest down. It was really wild b/c you know you can move your legs but can't. They put an oxygen mask on you and you are laid flat on the table with your arms to your side like a t. They pull a sheet up in front of you so you can't see what they are doing. I didnt' feel anything except some tugging/pulling which is when they were getting the babies out. It didn't hurt but you could feel some of the movement. After the babies were out the nurses took them to clean etc...and dh took pics. The drs stitched then stitched me up. It took maybe 10 min from the time they started to the time the babies were out. The whole procedure took about 45 min. I apparently lost a lot of blood and they thought I'd need a transfusion but didn't afterall. We were then wheeled into recovery for about an hour or so just waiting for the epidural to wear off. Then I was put in my room.
You do bleed pretty good for the first 24-48hrs. Then it lessens and is more like a period. I have a follow up with my dr in 6 wks to check the incision. I was sore the first few days and have been taking percocet and tylenol. Since I've been home I'm mostly on tylenol maybe 1 percocet a day. It's been a week and I'm moving around pretty good just taking it easy as much as possible.
I hope this was helpful to you all. I'm anxious to hear how everyone is doing as time is getting close for the rest of you. I gotta go it's almost feeding time!

Hi Everyone,
Jayne- I am managing to breastfeed. However, I am feeding Taylor off my breasts and Jaqulynne is bottle fed with my expressed milk. From day 1 Jaqulynne has fought me when we tried to breast feed and over the weekend my husband and I talked and decided she was miserable and I was miserable so we decided to try using the bottle and it works better fro everyone! Feedings go a bit faster and are more enjoyable. I just hope I can keep up the milk production. I pump after every feeding . We do supplement with formula every other feeding b/c they lost a little more than 10% of their birth weight in the hospital and it was probably due to my milk not coming in yet. So the dr suggested supplementing. Also at night our last feeding we give them double the formula on top of the breast milk which we think helps them sleep better. Usually allows us about 4 1/2 hrs of sleep.
Keep me posted Jayne and Angie I'm sure things will go well for both of you!

Hi KImberli - good to hear you have worked out a good feeding routine - sounds like you are doing well.
Nothing changing at this end. Had BP check and protein in urine test and both fine . Feet are still a bit swollen but doesn't matter as I am living in my uggg boots with no socks (around the house anyway!)
Next Monday is the next check up - I will have a trace put on to check movements etc. If all well I will come home and then if no labour happens next week, I am going to be induced on the SUnday. I would prefer not to be induced but also have to weigh that up against leaving baby in there for too long. My dr wants to be cautious given the IVF background.
Obviously I am hoping something happens in the next few days - I think a very hot curry may be in order at the weekend.
Jayne - it does sound like we will be close... Have you done much reading about the induction process - everything I find on the internet is quite negative - I really want to be able to walk around during labour but often induction involves a drip. OH well - mustn't worry - what will be will and I will have to trust my dr. I definitely don't want to go too overdue either - at least with induction there will be end in sight...
Dexter - how are you going?
Take care everyone else.

Kimberli, thanks for the uupdate and info on feeding, i am hoping to breastfeed also, but keeping an open mind to the best option available. Hope i can pump as well as you if i have latching problems. i bet you can see changes in the girls already.
Angie, glad all is going well for you, i think we have stubborn ones in here. i was 3/5th's engaged on tuesday and i have still had no braxton hicks contractions. Regarding being induced would rather not be, as some say it increases the conntraction pain and some people get no rest time between, my SIL was induced but she was also given an epidural at the same time as she was exhausted so she never noticed the pain. Don't know if you did accu but my accu guy is also a part time midwife and said if i get to were i am to be induced i've to go see him and he will have a go at getting me started, so may ring him after seeing consultant tomorrow. I will ask a few questions regarding inducement when i see him tomorrow, but i will be nearly 38 weeks when i see him next week and i know he won't allow me to wait longer!!
Unfortunately for me i had protein in my urine so spent 24 hours in hospital Tuesday for BP monitoring, due to my swelling being so bad also they are worried about pre-eclampsia. good news was there was noo growth in the protein and BP stayed quite settled, it's high for me but still in normal range, all blood tests came back ok. Am at midwife this afternoon, and see the consultant tomorrow. i just wish they would start to make an appearance, they are measuring a week bigger anyway, and at hospital yesterday the connsultant i saw said they feel a really good size. Oh well keep hanging in there.
Catch you all later, going swimming in a minute, it's lovely for my legs, releif.
catch you all later

Hi Jayne - glad to hear things are stable and you are being monitored well. I've also been swimming twice this week - you're right it is a great feeling of for once feeling weightless - it's the only time I feel comfortable.
Yep - I've been doing acu throughout and I am going weekly now - the treatment now is supposedly to prepare my body for labour now so hopefully induction or not, it will have some benefit. My Chinese dr lady said she may also be able to do something to encourage labour so I'll be encouraging her to twist those needles deeper this PM! I have quite a bit of faith in her - I believe her treatment really helped get me preggers in the first place.
Last couple of days I've had a few mild cramps but nothing dramatic at all and a slight increase in mucus.
Oh well - I might go back and lie down again - I am loving this guilt free snoozing. Need to find myself a good book to read I think.

Hi Angie, well induction booked for 7th July, my consultant is on holiday from sometime next week, so he has arranged everything now. I will get 2 checks this week on day assessment unit, and i can have a membrane sweep on Thursday to try to start labour, but not before. He said walking/swimming and sex to bring on labour, so going to swim faster this week!!! I also read raspberry leaf tea is supposed to help.
good luck

Hi Ladies,
Glad to hear everyone is doing ok and progressing. I wish everyone the best of luck with their deliveries.
OK here is the latest and greatest. Both girls are doing well. As I said last time I took Jaqulynne off the breast and went to bottle ...well now Taylor is off the breast and on bottle. The other day she would nurse for like 40 min and be falling asleep. I'd lay her down and then like 10-15min later she'd be crying and rooting like she was starving. This happened several times and I came to the conclusion she wasn't getting enough. So now I am feeding them milk in the bottle and every other feeding they get 1/2 milk and 1/2 formula and the last bottle before bed they get strictly formula ( I found it helps them sleep). It was a hard decision to do this especially since I was really wanting to breast feed. However, I decided I needed to do what was best for the babies and me. My nipples were so sore and would hurt everytime Taylor latched. I figured after 2 weeks it should've gotten better but didnt'. I actually read in one of my books that redheads and fair skined people are more sensitive. Which is what I am red head and fair skinned. So now I pump and do the bottle. So far everyone is alot happier and I'm less stressed. Hubby says worse case scenario we have to do just formula. I was fed on formula and turned out ok as was he. So the positive is my girls already have a jump start on me. It was really tough dealing with the guilt of it all.
Just keep in mind nursing takes a lot of work and is so worth it if it works for you. However, if it doesn't don't feel bad about it. Society makes us feel bad b/c breast milk is best but if you can't do it, you can't do it. The important thing is that the baby stays healthy and you stay sane.
I am pumping like crazy and hope to keep the supply up so we'll see what happens.
Good luck to everyone and I keep us posted I can't wait to hear of all the birth announcements!

Hi Kimberli,
Thanks for all the updates. Such valuable information. I must say everyone I have spoken to has gone down the same path. The breast feeding nazis make us all feel inadequate if we don't "perservere". I have already opted for formula feeding, just from other people's experiences. Babies sleep better, are more content. Isn't that what we're striving for here?? Healthy, happily fed bubs. I really don't understand all the pressure from society for women to exclusively breastfeed. It actually annoys me. I'm going to try and alternate feeds between breast and bottle if I can and like you, I will most definitely do formula at night before bedtime. According to everything I've read and heard from others, this seems to be the most successful way of coping with twins.
You're doing an amazing job and putting the interest of your bubs first and foremost. People say preparing bottles is tedious and hard work. I'm sorry, but I think 2 babies that don't latch on and never know how much milk they're getting is much more hard work than sterilising a couple of bottles.
Sorry for the rant but just wanted to shove some much needed support behind you.

Hi Dex,
Thank you so much for the much needed support. It makes me feel so much better hearing its ok to do what I'm doing. You're right about society and the breast feeding nazis. Even in the hospital when the doctor said I should supplement with formula b/c of the loss of weight, I did. Then the lactation consultant (breast nazi) made me feel bad for doing so and told me I had no reason to supplement. So I stopped the formula and the next day in the hospital the weight was loss even more and the doctor said to supplement and the nurse thank god for her watched me cry and have a melt down b/c I was receiving so many different opinions about what to do. The nurse finally told me that I should listen to the doctor and do what they say. The lactation consultants have a 1 track mind and there is no compromise to it. I felt so much better for hearing that. The next day a different consultant came in and asked how all was going and I told her I was feeding every other feeding with formula her eyes nearly popped out of her head! But she didnt' say anything about it.
I am feeling so much better about my decision especially seeing the results of my girls. They are happy and sleeping better.
Thanks again for the support!
Love,
Kimberli

hi all - I agree with you on the feeding thing- the right thing to do is what makes both you and the baby happy. I hope I don't encounter any b/feeding nazis. I am going to give it a good try but not at the expense of making me miserable. My friend and her 7 month old have just been round and she went on to only formula by 6 weeks - he is the happiest and most well- behaved baby ever.
Well - I am still here - all my tests this morning were fine and I am booked in for induction on Sunday night if nothing happens before - so this time next week it will all be happening as it's now Monday pm here. WOW!
Had a few period like cramps on and off but not at all strong and I think the mucus plug is coming out - but only very gradually. Let's hope nature takes it course.
feeling tired and lethargic - it is cold here today - think this last week I will hibernate - sleep and eat! Hope you are all well.

Kimberli, glad your getting ssorted on the feeding, i will also follow my instincts and do what is best for the babies, i hope i can breastfeed but if not, so be it, all we can do is try. my friend has 3 kids and only managed to feed her 3rd and only for 6 weeks due to sore nipples and he is thriving. My mum thinks i'm nuts for even trying!!!
Dexter, nice to hear from you, hope your doing ok? when is your date? Hope the babies are growing well and the cyst is not causing any problems.
Angie, how you doing? sounds like you might go naturaally before induction day, sounds like things are moviing along. good luck.
Well i was hooked on the monitor for an hour today, both babies doing great, moving around well, twin 2 seems to have moved position again!! the bad news is that i have no movement whatsoever on the contraction front, my uterus is completely still. So i have bought the raspberryy leaf tea, and now all the staff have had their days off, i can start trying to get them moving. Going for accupncture on Thursday and also getting a cervical sweep at clinic on Thursday, might go for the good old SEX then too, if i try all 3 together it might work!!! Getting desperate not to be induced. will keep you all updated.
take care everyone
