Hey ladies. I have a quick question for those of you that have been through ER. How did you all feel after your ER? Were you able to go back to work the day after? I told my boss I would be out tomorrow for the retrieval, but that I wasn't sure how I would feel Thursday. Should I expect to feel okay the next day? Thanks ladies!

Chris (to_have_fun): Welcome to this group. The women here are just as great as the April/May board. Then again, there are several of us here from both!

cocosmomma: Glad you survived the BW!! That is a lot of blood!

dakota: Welcome to the group! Good luck trying to catch up. I get lost after being away for a couple hours!!

LB: Congrats on that fert report!! I think 9 is a great number!

jharris: I think it really depends on how many eggs you have. If alot, then I would expect to feel bloated, maybe crampy and overall just uncomfortable. You should be able to go to work if you don't have a huge number of eggs, but I would wear something loose and just be comfortable, if possible. I had like 27 eggs, so I was borderline OHSS and didn't feel all that great the next day. Plus, the Gatorade-only diet bloated me up like a hot air balloon! And I was really crampy.

Good luck tomorrow. It's an exciting step!!

The sodium in the Gatorade soaked up (for lack of a better term) all the fluid your body naturally produces with such a high level of estrogen (due to the large amount of eggs I had). Since my OHSS was minimal, the Gatorade prevented it from getting worse. I had a friend who had a rather terrible case of OHSS and her entire body cavity filled with fluid. It was awful. And I don't think any amount of Gatorade was going to prevent it!!

If someone can explain it more eloquently, have at it.

Thanks cocosmomma. So how high was your estrogen level? I only had 7 good size follicles, 1 a little bit behind those, and 2 that were all too small, so I won't have 27 like you did!! And yesterday morning my estrogen level was 3883. So I am just wondering how the estrogen level relates to the numbers of follicles?

Embarrassingly, I have no idea. My clinic doesn't give me the numbers unless I ask and frankly, back in January when I had my ER, I didn't know to ask. I wasn't on this forum yet! LOL! Hopefully another blogger smarter than me will have been in the same situation and be able to answer with her numbers.

Thanks for the info. Its good to know since I will be on high alert for OHSS due to having PCOS. My RE says that pcosers tend to produce alot of eggs. So I have to go in for U/S everyday during stims. RE said to buy a pair of stretch pants and be prepared that my mid section may expand a good 1/2 inch, so I am going to buy a pair of those weekender pants by Lands end, I should be able to get away with wearing them to work?

jharris - I am back to work today and doing fine. I hurt my back on Saturday lifting a big bag of soil (yes I am an idiot!) and that feels much worse! I spent all day yesterday alternating the heating pad between my back and my lower abdomen!

Dakota - I saved all my elastic pants/skirts for last week and this week so I would be comfortable at work. I don't even know if they are "in" this season, but I find gaucho pants are great - and I wear them to work - I am an attorney but our office is pretty casual unless we need to see clients/go to court. I don't care what I look like these days - my stomach has definitely expanded!

cocosmomma - glad the bw went ok!

JHarris- apparently I'm the wimp of the board, I felt pretty rough for 2 days (the day of the transfer and after- I did work the next day, but really wasn't completely back to my normal self until 4 days later). I very suspicious that I had some mild OHSS symptoms.

Another advantage of taking the next day off is that you can be at home when you get the news about how many eggs fertilize. Just a thought. Working though might keep your mind off things. GL- we'll be thinkin of you!! You've had a roller coaster and I am so happy for you now!

Crikey ladies - I go away for a few days to visit my parents and be properly looked after (DH was on a stag do/bachelor weekend) and I have 7 pages to catch up on.

I can't do personals from 7 pages I lose track but just to let you know I am thinking of you all.

I finish my 2ww tomorrow but DH is away on business so I have to wait until thursday. I flip from being quietly hopeful to hysterical sobbing at the moment.

I don't really feel anything apart from my ovaries aching when I need a drink and needing to pee all the time but I am not sure if that is because I am drinking more.

Kisses all round Karen

Hi All--

I am thinking of all of you who are blazing the trail on this thread. Good luck with your ERs, ETs and twws.

For those of you who are feeling a bit low, I also want to relate the following: In Liza Charlesworth's book, The Couple's Guide to In Vitro Fertilization, she talks about how many women who have relatively small egg harvests go on to achieve healthy pregnancies. So keep the faith. Another encouraging statistic: Experts estimate that about 70% of today's IVFers achieve their goal of parenthood within three cycles....and the numbers are getting better every day.

My progress report: I am officially STIMMING! I went to my RE yesterday for my day 2 tests. During the ultrasound, she said "Good potential here." And my cyst (which 10 days ago was massive) has vanished! My tentative ER date has been moved up to 5/22.

Rinnie, LB, Turtle, LoveBug, Neffi, Prawnster, Queenie, KimmySQ, Irishhope, Jharris, hopinginpa, IndieBlue, SDTrying, CWRJ00, SueQiwi, Bichonmom, KYW and everyone else I might have missed, have a great night. Let's make history by making this the first thread to go 100% with BFPs!

Karen! You must be wild with anticipation. Are you going to POAS? Wishing you a very baby dusty day on Thursday!

Two questions:
1) Did anyone else develop a Follistim headache?

2) Despite my noble desire to avoid obsessing about my numbers, I am ITCHING to know what they are and analyze them. Now that I have started Follistim, what numbers should I ask the nurse for when she calls? E2? Anything else? And what is normal/good?

ForMaggie- thanks for sharing that piece from your book - it is encouraging to see 70% achieve success within 3 cycles...may this be it for all of us!! I often find myself saying "if someone could just tell me it will take X amount of tries I'll do it...the needles, the bloating, the nausea, the discomfort...all a breeze if I could just know it would work some day!!

This board has grown so much the personals are hard to keep up with...

I hope no matter where each of you are in this cycle things are going smoothly for you all!! Keep the faith...

My AF is on day 33 and nothing yet...need her to show so I can start stimming but I notice I'm much calmer this cycle. Last time for cycle #1 I was a total whack job if my AF was late I was so anxious to get started...now I'm "riding the wave"...what happens happens...I can't control alot of it so stressing out is pointless...

HI May/Juners!

This has been a busy weekend on the boards!

ForMaggie - I had a headache during Lupron that went away a couple days after stims. Also, my clinic said they want to see your E2 at around 300 at day 3 and like to get it closer to 1500/2000 for ER. Hope that helps.

Karen - Wow you are a strong woman. I think I would be POAS and giving my husband the news when he gets back. Not at all romantic, you're way is much better and totally worth it.

I am cruising on the stims. Had u/s today and it looks like ER will still be Friday and DH's biopsy Thursday. We had a last sperm analysis yesterday to see if the Clomid did anything for him but found nothing. So we are now crossing our fingers and hoping the biopsy will work. Question: I am on day 9 of stims and my breasts just started hurting. I am sure it is different for everyone just wondering if anyone else has had breast tenderness?

Hope you are all having a great day!

Rubylee: Thanks for the info on the E2 levels. I'll know what to ask tomorrow when the nurse calls! Good luck on your ER and dh's biopsy. Wishing you the best.
