Lyd10-praying that your Beta goes down quickly and that you don't have to have a D&C. With AF it should come down significantly. That's what happened with me. Hoping for the same.

Anton, I'm adjusting well to the thyroid med, but wondered why the doctor prescribed Levothyroxine if he is trying to decrease my TSH level to be within the clinic's standard. I thought this med was used for underactive thyroid, as this is what my husband was prescribed for his thyroid condition a year ago. Not sure but I have to call the clinic on Monday anyway to ask if we can recheck the level at 4 weeks instead of 6 weeks (because I want to get the results back before cycling), but more importantly need to find out about this med if it can help my condition either way. I do LOVE my new Folic acid 900mcg vitamins they taste like candy, kinda like milk duds. I hope you enjoyed your day and spending time with your brother and nephew today, sounds like so much fun! 8)

Lyd10, I'm dancing over here so AF will visit you very soon! So "lets bust the move"...lol I'm so into the 80's music!

Leorira, Speaking of music I will have to check out the Dixie Chicks. Mariah Carey also went through IVF to conceive and her music reflects perservance, power and strength too. :)

rosie, What state are you vacationing in the U.S.? I'm thinking you must have some family here?!:D

we, I hope you are going to have a relaxing weekend, well hopefully no algebra homework anyway. How did the audit go?

JenMink, Glad you are baaaaaack, You and Anton make the best blinkie queens! :D

toniaa, Grow follies Grow strong! How are the injections coming along, don't they get easier?

AFM: Borders Bookstore closes this Sunday so all books up to 90 percent off. Tonight I bought dh a book about Labrador Retrievers for 90cents and for me a book called "A Cure for Infertility" for only 3.00 giving a spin on Western Medicine.
Overall great day, I woke up with lots of energy so I cleaned house and reorganized the walk-in closet...Finding stuff I had forgotton I ever had. :D Enjoy your weekend!

Sunshine-thanks for everything. To reply to your question about treatment if hyperthyroidism, vim assuming this us what your RE had diagnosed you with (overactive thyroid), please see information below for medication treatments. There are are treatments fir overactive thyroid. It all depends on why the thyroid us overactive.

Antithyroid drug: A drug directed against the thyroid gland. The antithyroid drugs include carbimazole, methimazole, and propylthiouracil (PTU). These drugs are used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactivity of the thyroid gland) in order to reduce the excessive thyroid activity before surgery and to treat and maintain patients not having surgery. Carbimazole, its active metabolite methimazole, and propylthiouracil all act by inhibiting the enzyme thyroid peroxidase and in that way they block the synthesis (the production) of thyroid hormone.

This is what you are taking:
Levothyroxine (Brand names: Eltroxin, Estre, Euthyrox, Levo-T, Levotabs ...)
Levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone, is used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. Without this hormone, the body cannot function properly, resulting in: poor growth; slow speech; lack of energy; weight gain; hair loss; dry, thick skin; and increased ...
Side effects- How to take- Precautions- Dietary Instructions- Missed a dose

Here is a link to a very good website. There is lots of information here. I realy hope this helps. Do me a favor and call your RE on Monday and get this clarified.

AFM-I am almost sure AF is here. It's so strange not to know but I've had some type if bloody discharge or spotting for such a long time it's realy hard to tell. But there is alot more of it this morning. Got up to kiss DH before he went to see his patients this morning at 5:30am, I went to the bathroom and there she was. No cramping though. However, my neck pain was so bad yesterday that one of the doctors I work with called in a muscle relaxant to my local pharmacy. I took one last night, put on a heating pad, and slept like a baby. DH said that I didn't even move the entire night. So if there was any uterine cramping last night or even this morning, I sure did not feel it. Thank God for muscle relaxers. Well, its Saturday morning, 6am. I realy should not be up so early on a Saturday morning. This weekend will be very busy for me. DS has a football game about an 45 min drive from home. We have to be there at 1pm. The game is not until 2:30pm. The game will probably finish around 4:30pm, then DD has to cheer at 5:30 pm for her football team. This means I will be at a park from about 1pm to about 8pm or so. DH said he is not going to let me be at the park for 7 hours and that he is going to stay with DD while i go home to rest. I feel really bad though. He works so hard, 7 days a week. He should stay home and rest. But he wont listen to me when it comes to this. God bless him, he is the most wonderul, caring hubby in the entire world. So to top this busy weekend off, DS has tons of Algebra homework, Language Arts homework, and Civics homework. Oh, did I mention he's in Gifted classes??? All of them! Not good for me, because I am definantely not Gifted in anything. I start teaching Sunday School tomorrow. I am hoping we can get most of the homework done before or after the game so we can go to the movies tomorrow after church. Well, going to try to go back to sleep.

Wow WeHaveHope you sound so busy, don't forget to take a moment for yourself. I hope your neck is feeling better this morning. Luckily my youngest is home schooled so there really is no homework, less stress. When she was in regular school she would have a full day, then come home and some nights have two hours worth of homework. I don't regret making the decision to have her school at home.

I think this might be our last day of summer (today about 83), then the temps are supposed to be a high in the upper 60's to low 70's. I came home from work and cut the grass (hopefully for the last time this season).

AFM I plan to tell work in the next few days that I need to take a leave of absence for the month of November, if this is not something they will let me do then I will just be giving my notice for my last day of work to be on Oct 31rst. If it does not work it would be nice to have a job to come back to, since at that point I think me and DH will start saving to adopt, since I'm not getting any younger.

Anton looking forward to meeting you, I'm in countdown mode until Cyprus :).

Hi all-- I am crashing here. I was supposed to have a transfer today, but the lab called and said that I meet the criteria for day 5, and have enough embryos to take this risk. I am nearly 42 (in one week). My last IVF, I had a beautiful baby boy last year, but he died at 2 months-- and so it is difficult just to be doing this again. We called the physican after the lab called, and she says that they will evaluate me on Monday, and decide then about the transfer. I am swollen and more bloated this time...have had mild symptoms of overstim...but am feeling a bit disappointed, as I was psychologically prepared for today. I am nervous about waiting, but feel like this is an unexpected gift-- two more days to heal...and maybe things will go better.

My ticker is from last year. I haven't a clue about how to fix it. Our baby boy died due to multiple issues-- he was chromosomally fine, but he appeared to have had an injury to his brainstem, sometime in utero. I don't say this to scare anyone, we had a wonderful and uncomplicated pregnancy until his birth (at almost 33 weeks). They told us that my son would have been stillborn, so we are grateful to have had him, met him, and loved him for his brief life.

sunshine and stars,
Thanks for reconnecting with us here, I cannot imagine how hard it must be to let an infant go, but I am glad you got to meet this precious angel even if it was for a short time he lives on in your heart forever. I will be praying for you during this journey, you are certainly not alone. About the overstimulating, I knew someone that this happened to and the doctor told her to eat alot of salty foods and drink gateraid to try and help the swelling go down. I know it's a bummer as you are so mentally prepared but take care of yourself first and know it's going to happen, this is all in God's hands.

Thanks We,
I am going to research the links you posted. I also notices on the perscription bottle that Levothyroxine is a generic name for synthroid. Will let you know what I find out next week. I'm so glad we have some nurses on board! :D

Thanks Sunshine,
It can be pretty lonely sometimes. We are still grieving our loss but I am doing well considering. We couldn't wait due to my age and the doctors encouraged us to try again. They don't believe that my son's condition resulted from IVF (they are different issues). The genetics people told us to change donors for this cycle, in case there was some kind of recessive gene thing happening. On the plus side, I am very healthy. Our son was a little trooper, and he defied the odds, in so many ways.

We know the risks of conception and pregnancy better than we did a year ago. We are hopeful and grateful despite what we have been through.

For anyone reading this-- please know that we would do this all over again, even if the outcome were the same. It was tragic-- and we wouldn't want our son to suffer-- but it was a beautiful experience nonetheless.

Sunshine1576-hope you find some of those websites helpful. I found so
additional information for you. This is copied from WebMD. See below;

Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. Having enough thyroid hormone is important for maintaining normal mental and physical activity. In children, having enough thyroid hormone is important for normal mental and physical development.

This medication is also used to treat other types of thyroid disorders (such as certain types of goiters, thyroid cancer).

This medication should not be used to treat infertility unless it is caused by low thyroid hormone levels.

Sunshine and stars-I am so sorry about your loss. It must have been extremely difficult. I can't even imagine. I am happy that you are trying again. I pray that this time everything goes well. Don't be worried about the 5 day day transfer. They are extremely successful. It's great that they are thinking 5 day transfer. I know it can be scary but hang in there. I will add you to the official Fall Roll Call in a few minutes. Please keep us updated. Just think, you will be PUPO in a few days.
How exciting!!!
