Hello ladies,

I have been away forever, but I am glad to to hear that you are doing well. Donna I am sorry for your loss and I hope that your FET cycle will work. Reward congrats on your amnio results, I wish the best for the rest of the pregnancy.

I am in week 16 now and so far all is going well. I have been quite occupied with job hunting though. My contract ended 7 months ago and ever since I have been looking for a new job. It is exteremly expensive here and now that we are hopefully becoming a family finances are bigger worry than ever. I am almost sick of preparing CVs and writing cover letters! I will keep trying of course, so please please keep yours fingers crossed for me...

Best of luck to everybody....

Mrs B, congratulations on your little girl - so exciting!
Also very exciting that you can feel her move, how many weeks are you? I can not wait to feel the baby, I know that it can be as early as around 16 wks or as late as 22 with your first. I am really hoping I'll feel mine early, I think it'll help with my worry!

I went to the doctor yesterday for a regular pregnancy check up and she found a raised white blood cell count in my urine, she thinks I may have a urinary or vaginal infection and has sent off some tests. (She said its not uncommon following ivf what with the egg collection and embryo transfer, she said the 'instrumentation' can upset the delicate balance of cultures.)I'm now slightly worried in case its anything else, still worried about an immunilogical reaction to the baby (I have effectively had 2 m/c with the loss of one of the twins this pregnancy). Does anyone have any experience of raised white blood cell counts??

hi all

hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, the weather here is the UK has be horriable so we have stayed in all weekend!!

tams - a high white cell count normally does suggest an infection of some sort, as its your whit cell that are needed to fight an infection. hope it nothing to worry about (more likely just an ITU) keep us informed, whats the weather been like where you are? we are in portsmouth, and its been non stop rain!

Thanks for your advice re the white blood cells, I've relaxed a bit now, if the doctor's not worried then neither should I be! Just waiting on the results, the worst thing that can happen is that I have to take some antibiotics, the doctor has already promised me these will be fine for the baby.

Kia I am in London and it has been chucking it down here, really grim. Where's the summer?!

Mrs B, fantastic that you could feel her from 18 weeks, thats only 2 weeks away for me, I can't wait! We're going on holiday then so hopefully the down time will mean I will be able to feel some kicks!

Nearly 15 wks, this is SO slow! At least my nausea mark 2 has dropped off again, lets hope its for good this time!

Hope everyone is keeping well..
sorry for your loss Donna

I have been away a bit.we had a bit of a scare with a bleed but all okay now.
My SIL has also had problems....her 1st baby was born at 32 weeks (3lb 3oz) and because of this her current pregnancy has been monitored(she has high blood pressure)

anyway...after my scare she was rusged in with a heavy bleed and gave birth to this one @ 29 weeks(2lb 9oz) luckily as she was being monitored & they knew he would be early they had given her a steroid injection @ mother & baby are fine so far.....

its all been go!!! on the plus point she gets her figure back quick as she does not get to the fat stage

anyway............i am now 15 weeks & 4 days and still cant believe i am pregnant!!

come on summer!! this weather is so depressing.........it feels more like November at the moment.....

love to all

Hey,
Tams, I went on antibiotics for my sinus infection (amoxicillian). I am sure you will be fine. I read about and the benefits out weigh the harm that could come if you let that infection take over. You'll be fine. I heard that it is common to get a UTI during pregnancy-- let us know. I admire you for trying to wait to find out the sex there is just no way I could have waited. I hope you can hold out. It IS the one true surprise.

Mrs. B a girl! :) Congratulations!!!

Hazel, good luck with the job search, you find something even better than you had!

Kia, could you talk DH into letting you find out if you promise not to tell him? :) I would slip and say something, I know me, but there is a couple here at work and she didn't want to know and husband found out and he didn't tell her. I would bug the heck out of my husband if he knew, even though I didn't want to know.

Ivfmom and everyone, you guys may think I am crazy but towards the end of my 14th week - I felt a feathery movement just above my pubic bone. Then, it got to be more gradual and I felt a thump - about end of week 15. Then, not another thump until this weekend. I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid from the test and went in and he put me on bed rest till today - every time I had a cookie I would feel a little thump. :) It is very sweet. I can't wait till you all feel that!!!!

Tams - how you feeling now honey? has the doctor got back to you yet? most antibiotics are safe during pregnancy, i have known many Pg women to have had an ITU and take antibiotics for a couple of days and its solved the problem. ITUs are very common during pregnancy, it was only the other week i thought i was about to get one but lucky enough i chucked lots of water down my neck and it didn't turn into one. As for the weather well i'm sure we have had our summer and this is it winter is here... can wait to go away on hols now roll on the 7th Aug.

reward - there is no way on this earth that i could find out and then keep it to myself, i know i would slip up somethere between now and Dec. i have come to except the fact now that i'm not going to know, and i a way its quite exciting. so youhae been feeling movement, it must be wonderfull, i cant wait for that first kick to happen.

sarah - glad to hear that your ok after your scare, hope your SIL and baby are ok My god 29 weeks and only 2lb s/he must be tiny, keep us informed on how they are getting on.

hope everyone else is ok and if in the UK they are surviving this horrid weather.

Reward, that's so exciting that you felt the baby so early! I lay in bed last night trying to work out whether I could feel anything but in the end decided it was my spaghetti bolognese! However I am very hopeful for something over the next couple of weeks.

Sarah, best of luck to your SIL, it does sound as though they have taken very good care of her and she and the baby are in good hands. Is it a boy or a girl? I hope you're also taking it easy, the bleed must have been such a worry, I know these things happen and most of the time mean absolutely nothing but I know how worried I'd be if I found any blood.

The doctor called me yesterday and the test results all came back clear, no infections at all. Apparently women can get raised white cell counts in pregnancy quite often and it means nothing. Also it was white cell not white blood cell, so my panicked immunilogical fear was totally unfounded - shows the danger of a little knowledge, esp to a paranoid pregnant post ivf woman!!!

We're definitely holding out over finding out the sex, however that deosn't stop me guessing and asking my acupuncturist what she thought (apparently they can tell, something to do with the pulse?!) Clearly about as scientific as a wedding ring on cotton, but something to keep me amused over the next 6 months!

LOL
