Hello everyone I have been away for awhile we ended up loosing the baby... everything was going fine, but since we started IVF weve been so scared of something going wrong of not getting pregnant and then once we got pregnant the worry went to what if we miscarry, we were so nervous at every apt just keeping ourselves prepared if any bad news were to come, however we got through the IVF just fine and were very lucky with that, had our 10wk ultrasound which was the last apt with the IVF clinic then on to our reg Dr. that went fine at 10wk everything was great baby was moving all around for us at the ultrasound, wk 12 was our first apt with our reg OBGYN and at that apt we had finally relaxed and though things were good and would be fine here on out, the Dr did the ultrasound and told us the baby died at 11weeks, needless we have been going through alot, I hate to post this bad news but I also wanted to share with you all, I am so happy for those of you who are pregnant and are doing well I wish you all the best of luck thanks for your support

Natalie I am so terribly sorry, that is such horribly sad news. At such a late date that just is so awful. I know that so soon afterwards nothing can really help, but spending time just the two of you and treating yourself very kindly can help ease some of the pain.
I know that you will have a baby, each time you have the treatment they learn a little bit more about how you respond to the drugs and can alter the treatment accordingly. I feel sure that this is why were more successful on our second attempt after the m/c.

With all my love

:D  :D  Eighteen weeks and two days :D  :D

Hi guys,

sorry I have been AWOL have been in Zante for my mum and step dad wedding. It was fantastic and so hot of there. 45 some days. Best most romantic wedding ever I which I could decribe it all to you in detail. Back now to rainy old England where you wouldn't know it was summer.

Sounds like a lot has happened while I have been away, terriably shocked and sad to read four of you have had m/c's there are no words for such lose and my heart goes out to each of you.xxx

I have gone into a big growth spert - took lots of clothes on holiday which fit under my bump two weeks ago and suddenly didn't fit and got reilgated to the suitcase after all.

Suddenly I am looking at maternity wear - although not having much luck in Brighton Peacocks and frumpy old mothercare have the only ranges here and both start at a 10 which is too big! So I am either going to have to go up to London or buy everything on line. At least all the fashionable tops and dresses on the market fit brilliantly its only really trousers, short and and shirt that I need to invest in.

Have any of you other twin mums joined TAMBA are you going to? Is it worth it?

Have any of you booked 3d scans?

We haven't bought anything for the twins yet and are suppose to be having students for the next two months to help save up - although student org has been mega crap - drove all the way to other side of Brighton today 1 hour each way to pick up stu's just to find out that they weren't on the coach and had no record of me!

Great, I was already pissed off about having to drive so far - only getting paid £10 a day per student and have got to feed them 3 meals a day , clean and do their landery for that. I must be mad. But my hubby's company is on the verge of been liquidated so money is very tight. He thought he might get made redundant while we were away. But so far not thank God!!!

Any way will stop whinging now.

Love to you all xxxx

Hi all

hope everyone is doing ok, there has been some sad news around here lately and it just breaks my heart.

on a liighter note we had our 16 week scan on wed and all is well. we difinately are not going to find out the sex of the baby as its against our hospitals policy to sex the unborn child, so its the guessing game for us.

hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

love to all

Hi Kia, so pleased to read about your 16 week scan - was that on the NHS.

We had one at 12 week and now we have to wait till I am 21 weeks to have another one. God I hope everything is ok with both of them. I am feeling lots of movement now - but need to know they are both involved.

Seeing my missrible midwife this tuesday - hope I am allowed to hear their hearts beating for the first time.

Tell me exactly what you could see that was different, wan to know every detail - my babies should be 15cm each by the end of this week (tues) thats a whole rulers worth in me!!!

Hi Quita

yes it was an NHS scan.

I didn’t get a 12 week scan but went for the nuchal scan. The Hospital I’m under its standard to do a 16 week dating scan and I have no idea when I will be scanned next, typical NHS keep us in the dark. The Hospital I work at does a 12-week dating and then a 20-week atonally scan, but I’m not in the catchments area to attend the hospital!!! I’m seeing my midwife for my first proper appointment on the 18 Jul so hopefully she can shed some light on when I get my next scan and also hopefully she will let us listen to the heart beat as when have not heard (only seen) it since our 8 week scan at our fertility clinic.

As for what you get to see, everything is so much more clear, you can make the whole face out without even trying, our little bean was sucking away at his thumb so cute!! Also we could see his little stomach, so we know he is having a little drink now. the spine, arms, fingers (counted them all) legs and toes could be seen no problem at all. They measured the head and femur and said our dates are spot on so it’s the 16th Dec, can’t wait.

I’m so glad you can feel your little ones it must be amazing. I’m still yet to feel anything but seeing as I have an anterior placenta, I’m not likely to feel any movement for a while yet!! Shame but hey as long as the little one is ok I really don’t mind.

So has your belly grown? I had nothing there yesterday but this morning I woke up and have a little bump (weird) so excited, I went out shopping for so maternity clothes needless to say they were all to big but hey I bought some anyway, I can’t wait to have that big baby belly, I keep wishing it to grow, DH said he will remind me of my wish when I can’t move cos I’m so big and I’m wishing I was small again.

I’m off now to make the most off the sunshine, we are taking the dogs down the beach for their walk, so much nicer when its not throwing it down with rain.

Take care

Sha xx

Hello everyone!

Sha, I also have an anterior placenta according to my notes - do you know what that means?! I see from your post also that this means we won't be able to feel the baby so early, I agree such a shame, I can not wait! My notes in fact say Placenta: anterior, Immature - anyone know whether this is immature for the dates or just that at 16 weeks it will be immature because its still developing?? So many questions!

Quita so exciting to be able to hear the heartbeats! Let us know how it goes. Are you going to find out the sexes?

The sonographer at our last scan said she knew the sex of the baby, I nearly crumbled and asked to know but managed to hold firm! I did look but couldn't see anything - not sure whether its because there wasn't anything there to see or whether I couldn't see it!!

Hey everyone,
Quita - I am so glad to hear from you. I was starting to get worried. We hadn't heard from you in a while. I think you are truly insane taking on students in your house! :)

Tams - not sure how you fought off the desire to ask. I am not that strong, but good for you.

Okay, so I need a second opinion. I have a doppler at home. I was taking the baby's heart beat this morning and it got really slow, like 119 and then went back up to normal. 20 minutes later, I checked again and it was back to normal. Should I call the nurse? I called twice last week, once about leg cramps and tightening and finally about my suspected ongoing leak I have had. The just saw me Friday and everything was okay... but I can't help but worry. People without doppler's would never know about the drop. PLEASE give me some sane advise b/c if I call again, they might put me on some type of meds!!! :)

Anterior placenta just means the placenta is attached on the front of the uterus. If you think of your uterus as an upside down pear, normally the placenta is attached to the back (posterior) of the uterus. In our case it’s on the front (anterior) wall, this is not very common but not unheard of.

There are associated problems but again these are very rare and I really wouldn’t look to much into it. What I would suggest is that you speak with your midwife to see exactly where your placenta is sitting within your uterus, as it can cause problems with a natural birth if its sitting to close or over the cervix. Again nothing is to say that as the pregnancy progresses the placenta will move up towards the top of the uterus. The Body is a wonderful thing and the medical world is just all stats and full of information for us to read and give us more things to worry about.

The most common thing is that with an anterior placenta you are unlikely to feel movement as early as someone with a posterior placenta. This is due to the nice big quilt the bean has between himself and your tummy, so when he is kicking the placenta is cushioning the kicks. But again this isn’t set in stone so we might feel those little movement soon!!!

As for the immature placenta, I would guess that just means its still developing but again I would ask your midwife, I will ask in work if anyone has any info on it and let you know what I find out.

But as long as your feeling ok and the little bean is fine then don’t worry and enjoy your pregnancy (easier said than done I know).

By they way I proud of you for not finding out the sex, that must have taken some will power!!!!!!

Take care

Sha, thank you so much for your info on anterior placentas. I am beginning to see that there is no such thing as a 'normal pregnancy' but that as long as the baby is fine, we'll deal with positioning and labour when we get there!

I really wouldn't have held out except I happened to speak to a friend last week who didn't find out the sex of their baby and she said it was such a special moment after the birth when her husband was the one to look and say that they had a little boy! Luckily this was fresh in my mind otherwise there's no way!!

Reward I don't know much about dopplers, or babies heart rates come to think of it. I would mention it to the nurse but it is very possible that you were picking up your own hr for a while? Or maybe the heartrate does fluctuate a lot? Does it say anything on the instructions about what rates to expect? Certainly don't worry about calling your clinic, its what they're there for. I have no doubt that I have 'neurotic mother to be' scrawled over my notes, but I couldn't care less!

Am 16 weeks today and very excited to get to '4 months'!!! Seems very grown up and properly pregnant. My bump is also getting a little bumpier and marginally less fat tummy to look at, come on the bump!

LOL

I've had another scare, I was out shopping yesterday and went to the loo and saw that I was bleeding, I dashed to the hospital which happened tp not be far from where I was shopping in a complete panic. The antnatal ultrasound unit sent me to A&E (why?) who felt my stomach and gave me an internal exam which freaked me out even more and said yes I was bleeding but they couldn't tell me why until they scanned me which they couldn't do until Friday! All those scanners in the hospital and they couldn't tell me if I was miscarrying until the next day? This is the hospital which I am registered at to give birth and have all my antenatal appointments. In the end still in a total panic I went back to the hosp where I had IVF, they scanned me in 3 mins flat (no charge even!) and phew there was the baby looking fine and moving around. She didn't want to do an internal scan (as I was still bleeding and she thought, quite rightly, that it would freak me out), but she said that its possible the placenta is a little close to the cervix at the moment but will probably move up.

I am going to keep the scan for today so they can do a more detailed check but I have to say I have lost all confidence in the hospital.

I am releived that the baby seems fine but I'm hoping to find out why I'm bleeding, its almost stopped today but I have to say that I really could do without it. This whole pregnancy thing just seems to be one long exercise is how to age as much as possible in 9 months.

Off for the scan shortly, I'll let you know what the story is.
