JG_379: Eating a banana before I go to bed seems to be helping my cramps . . . It's nice to have my energy back! I also signed up for a whole bunch of pre-nantal classes: childcare, breast-feeding, labor pain relief, and overall child preparation . . .I'm still dealing with the whole heartburn thing . . . Tums seems to help though . . . I'm just excited to see my ever-growing belly and to feel the waves and flutters . . . I'm really enjoying the second trimester and kinda hesitant to see the third trimester come because I hear it's very similar to first trimester . . . when does everyone's third trimester start?

Hey ladies,
Do any of you know any legit "work at home jobs" online? I really want to look into that. My job is stressing me out and I dont want to be there anymore. The other day my dr sent me to labor and delivery because the baby wasnt moving much at all and she usually moves alot during the day. Thank God she was fine when they hooked me up the the monitor but the dr told me to stop stressing myself because the baby feels everything. So I think Im going to leave my job. I just want to do something from home right now. Any ideas please let me knoe ladies. thx

Hi Ladybug-
Good question! I work in a Career Center and work with many women in our special program here that regularly ask the same thing. The truth is, there's no easy answer. It's ideal if you can work your regular job from home, but if that's what's stressing you out, then you certainly shouldn't be doing it! I like resources on Women For Hire's site: http://www.womenforhire.com/work_from_home. They also give you information on how to avoid scams, etc. Most of these jobs are going to be telemarketing or some type of call center type of thing. Good luck and let me know if you find something that you like.

deftones- I agree, bananas sure do help! I eat one every day. I've been prone to leg cramps even before pregnancy, so it's just gotten worse.

AFM- Nothing new here, although with the stress of the morning, I thought for sure I would go into labor! I am working late tonight, so I started working later today rather than my usual 8 am. Well, I was taking my dog out and since we've been blessed with another snowstorm, I noticed that where my dog went, there was blood. I about had a heart attack and called the vet and they took him in right away. It turns out that he has a bladder infection, which is pretty minor, but I think all the stress of getting him to the vet and making sure he was okay, plus trying to get ready to go to work was just way too much! I started getting all kinds of pains in my belly and my sides and back, but since i've been at work and sitting down with my feet propped, I feel better. I have a weird symptom these past couple of weeks though, my hair is falling out. Most people get nice thick, shiny, fabulous hair during pregnancy and I seem to be just the opposite. I've always had really thick hair, so i'm not too worried yet because I could stand to lose some, but I lose so much of it all at once that it sort of gives me a mini panic attack! I talked to doc about it on Monday and he said my thyroid levels are fine, so I guess it's just one more symptom that i'll have to deal with.

A friend of mine read a book about working from home:
Working From Home, 5th edition
Paul Edwards, Sarah Edwards

and I came across this link:

I'm not a fan of Dr. Laura, but the article offers some good suggestions . . .
good luck =)

Hi Everyone

Sorry for my absence. Still she is not kicking....may be she doesnt like soccer! I am geting very low back pain these days, My DH got a massage cushion which is very helpful.

What in your opinion is the age of viability.....is it 24 wks OR 28 wks?

Has anyone planned for 3 d US! Is it worthwhile?

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all are doing well. I'm just chillin at home and taking lots of naps. Modified bed rest isn't so bad...just boring. According to my Dr appointments this week, my cervex has actually gotten longer slightly and I still have no dialation. The funneling and shortening is still of concern, and they have me coming in twice a week for check ups.

I'm going for my 2nd 3D ultrasound this weekend and can't wait. It really makes them so much more real than the standard 2D.

We also have our Breast Feeding for multiples class tomorrow, which should be interesting.

Have a great weekend ladies

Faith

May: My brother-in-law is a paramedic and he can transport babies at 23 weeks . . . however, the longer they can stay in utero, the better . . .

3-D and 4-d ultrasounds are amazing! I had mine at 11 weeks and 18 weeks and it was awesome! You can see ears and mouths and fingers and everything! I wish we could do it again, but my OB says we'll only do another u/s if there's a problem . . . so I hope no more u/s for me :D

JG - I have the symptom as well. My hair is coming out in chunks and I have to clean my brush every morning. I have a lot but thin hair, so nothing is visible to others but clogged drains in the shower are the worst. My doc said this could be normal. I also have hair growing rapidly in places I really never thought of hair growing, such as my ears.

May - I also do not really feel a lot of kicks or flutters. My doc believes this is either because I was not too skinny to begin with and for women with larger stomach lining it takes a bit longer to feel everything and recorgnize it as movement of the baby in the first pregnancy anyway. However, all my US have been 3D with tons of pics for my pregnancy album. The child will probably hate me when she is older for those.

AFM - I have a shopping trip and visiting family in the US planned for the end of January and cannot wait. I have to admit I am a bit worried about sitting in a plane for 10 hours straight. Cannot even sit that long at work anymore these days. Every day I am amazed at the growth of my stomach and my boobs have started to get very sore again around the nipple area. Sometimes the nipples just remain hard for part of the day and I have developed a talent in draping scarves. Fortunately, no lactating yet.

Lucky- I'm glad to hear that i'm not the only one, although i'm sorry to hear that it's happening to you too! I just hope that in the next 15 weeks, I don't end up going bald! Many people say that it's common for your hair to fall out after you give birth, so I hope it doesn't continue after the babies are born! Ahhhhh! Anyway, I see the doc again tonight and i'm going to ask her if maybe i'm deficient in some vitamins right now. I know what you mean about hair growth too, my belly is super fuzzy right now! I haven't looked in my ears yet, but now you've got me thinking! As far as the plane ride goes, just make sure you get up once an hour and walk around. Also, I hear those compression socks help with swelling and blood clots are a good thing to wear on an airplane. And drink lots of water. It'll not only help you to remember to get up once an hour, but plane rides dehydrate you, so you want to stay hydrated on top of it! You'll do great! Where are you going in the states? Oh, and I also have the same nipple prob! It's sad, i've been using nursing pads in my bra to try and hide them!

May- No 3d or 4d ultrasounds for me! Not unless someone buys on for me! I think it's probably because I've had an ultrasound at least once a week since 5 weeks, so even though they've all been 2d, I don't feel like I need to go in for anymore! I do hear that those pictures are fabulous though and it's really a special experience with great memories to take home, so if you do it, you won't regret it! Also, i'm sure she is moving around in there, she's just being graceful and gentle on you! Such a considerate little girl you have! :-)

Faith- How'd your class go? Any tips for me? How's the cervix holding up?

AFM- I've been up since 3 am because one of the babies decided to kick my liver for a good hour in the middle of the night. Not really sure if it was my liver, but I could tell he was facing backwards and kicking my organs. He also has a special way of making me have to pee, I think he steps on my bladder! Anyway, I spent the majority of the weekend relaxing and taking down Christmas decorations. We're having a painting party on Saturday, so I wanted to make sure we got the decorations down and the house clean before people come over. Of course I got tired in the middle of it and didn't finish, but at least I got a good start and can do a little bit each night after work this week.

Hi JD - That is funny that you have similar problems. Well not really, but we have to make it through.

AFM - I decorated and painted our nursery with my sister last weekend. I also bought some nursery furniture. Now I am getting paranoid that something is not right with the baby because I do not even feel the little bubbles in my belly anymore. I think maybe I am just totally upset because something could still happen. Buying and preparing probably has me a little worried. My next Gyn appointment is not until Jan. 20th and going before would be difficult with work and my planned vacation. I think I will have to hope for the best that everything is okay as I am not experiencing any pain, bleeeding or such.

Lucky- Try not to worry! I'm sure all is well. I've used the fetal heart monitor to ease my worries and that always helps, so maybe something like that will ease your fears. At 21 weeks, you can buy one of the cheaper ones and it should work just fine!

Hi JD - May be a good idea. I have not seen it here but I can probably look when I am in the US. I did go for a scan today anyway. My doc already thinks I am paranoid. All is well except for a small vaginal infection for which I now have to take some depositories - again.

Hey all . . .

Some of the ladies on the other boards were talking about if/when they would do IVF after their babies are born . . . what do you guys think?

I'm torn . . . I could really spoil the heck out of one baby, but I always imagined having more have more than one kid . . . but since we have to pay for IVF out of our pocket, it does seems like a huge gamble of money . . . I think we may try once, maybe twice more and then call it a day . . .

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've been offline. I was in the hospital this week. I had an emergency cerclage done on Monday. I went in for my regular appointment and they found that my cervex had shortened again..to .8 cm and that I was dialated to 1 cm. Obviosley at 22 1/2 weeks this is bad, so they did the procedure. The worse part was the spinal, but everything went well. They kept me in the hospital to monitor and sent me home after a couple of days.

I've been feeling fine since coming home and have been feeling tons of baby movement. This girls are getting stronger by the day. The doctors say that people getting a cerclage done at this stage typically deliver in 4-8 weeks after, but we are hoping for longer.

I hope everyone is doing well,

Faith
