Sue e - hope you are doing the AF jig?? Bet you really can't wait to start now after so long waiting!

JenC, Jo, Jackie G, Cla - keep hanging in there!!

Jeni Babes - thanks for the good wishes. You always inspire so much PMA - thanks!!

Anna - SO glad your appt went well. Hope AF shows her face soon...

Charlie77 - great that you can get started now too.

Kyla, Sophie, Bina, yogibunny, moggy - how were your scans?

Lynne - glad your scan went well and that you can now start stims.

My 1st scan this morning showed that I'd got lots of follies - ca. 40, but not yet big enough. They recommended to lower the dosage so I REALLY hope this time it won't be cancelled again due to over-stimulation... Next scan Friday.

Good luck to EVERYONE here!

My hospital has given me photos of my embies both times! Really sweet actually although I know what you mean about getting too attached!
Eminde - Wow thats a lot of follies! Are you already on a lower dose than last time seeing as you had OHSS that time?

Am out pretty much now until Friday so may not be able to keep up with you but will be thinking of you all!

Hi Cla, yes they halved the dose (Puregon) to 75 and since today to 50. But my stomach is huge already with 2 big lumps each side, which I suppose must be the ovaries... I'm really hoping they don't go on overdrive!!

Hope your 2ww doesn't drag on too long - sounds like you're being kept busy at work so that should help!

Had scan today, everything okay so have started on Oestrodial for 17 days until FET on 10th Feb.

Have any of you been told to take 75mg of aspirin everyday? My clinic told me this is important as it reduces the risk of miscarriage. Apparently when you have your thick lining in your uterus, some blood sometimes breaks away in the early days of pregnancy (ie spotting). If your blood is thick it can come away in big clots taking the embryo with it. If you take the aspirin this makes the blood thinner and reduces the risk. My clinic have it written in all their leaflets. I have started taking it today!!!

Also they told me that when I test for pregnancy, it will be a simple urine test at the clinic. I assumed it would be a blood test. And then if I am pg, I have a scan 2.5 weeks later.

Apparently I have 13 embryos, grades 2 & 3, some 2 cell, some 4 cell, all 2 days old. Not sure whether this is good or bad. Anyone know about this?

Hang on in there Jen and Jo!!!!!

Hi Sophie

No i have not been told to take aspirin quite the opposite,i was told not to take anything with aspirin in only paracetamol.

For the sole reason it can thin the blood and thin out the womb lining.

Do you have a history of miscarraige???
I have heard of doing this if you have and are already pregnant.

I guess all clinics are different!!!

Good luck with your treatment, i'm not convinced mine has worked feel like Af will be arriving soon.

I was totally told to take baby aspirin. 81mg.

Found this....

A new study, which was conducted by following the history of over 1000 women, has indicated that women who suffer unexplained late recurrent miscarriages may actually benefit from a daily, low dose aspirin (75mg tablet). The birth rate in this group was 65% compared with 49% in the women who did not take aspirin.
Women who suffered three or more consecutive first trimester (up to 12 weeks) miscarriages found that aspirin made no difference to the live birth rate.

GPs still do not routinely prescribe baby aspirin. Further investigation and testing of other blood and physical states is still required before this practice becomes commonplace.

Found this too...

Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome is a clinical sequence of events that affects clotting and may cause recurrent pregnancy loss and low platelets. Two autoantibodies are involved in this condition: the lupus anticoagulant (LAC) and anticardiolipin antibody (ACA).

Some clinicians are convinced that antiphospholipid antibodies are associated with infertility as well and in some cases women are treated with heparin to improve the rate of pregnancy. In treatment of recurrent pregnancy loss, where ACA and or LAC is suspected, it has been found that heparin plus low dose aspirin (80 to 100 mg. per day) is beneficial. Moderate severity of disease is more responsive to aspirin therapy than are the more severe cases.

A baby aspirin is used because of it's smaller dosage. A typical adult aspirin contains 325 mg. You should seek the advice of your own care provider to see if ACA or LAC is a possibility and to see if small dose aspirin therapy would be recommended.

AND THIS.....

Baby aspirin, or low dose aspirin in a dosage of 81mg per tablet, is very beneficial to fertility. There are many other benefits to taking aspirin - such as benefiting the cardiovascular system (because of it's anticoagulative or nonclotting properties), pain reliever (analgesic) and fever reducer. People with heart problems take an aspirin daily, as a precaution to ward off potential heart attacks. If you are allergic to aspirin, have gastrointestinal problems or have problems with your blood
clotting, I would suggest not taking it. In fact, anyone interested in beginning aspirin therapy should first seek the advice of their care provider.

You should consider the benefits of aspirin, especially if you have suffered from a miscarriage. But even if you haven't, taking the aspirin can still be beneficial in helping to prevent some future miscarriages. Some miscarriages are caused by a poorly lined uterus. Some are caused from the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies. These are proteins which appear to be related to coagulation problems -which can cause recurrent fetal loss. This happens when there is a disruption in the placental blood flow, due to clotting. The aspirin reduces the risk of clotting.

As for helping with the utering lining, it is believed that aspirin helps with the blood flow to the ovaries and uterus. Though this has not been fully researched, taking an aspirin a day certainly cannot hurt. Because of the benefits listed above to the cardiovascular system, it stands to reason that if it also helps with fertility, why not give it a try? I took aspirin myself for about 6 months after my 2nd chemical pregnancy and quit taking it about 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant.

Some doctors will okay taking low dose or baby aspirin in pregnancy, though the majority will not. Ask your doctor, as soon as you become pregnant, as to whether or not to continue with the aspirin.

It doesn't matter what brand of aspirin you choose, as long as it has no more than 81 mg per tablet. This will be in either the chewable baby aspirins, or in the adult low dose aspirin. The tablets are very small and easy to swallow. You only need to take one tiny pill per day to reap the benefits. Taking one low dose or baby aspirin (81 mg) a day is a good thing to add to the supplements you are already taking. If you are suspicious about miscarriages, or have suffered from them in the past, ask your doctor about aspirin. It could very well be what the doctor orders.

I don't know anything about the grades of eggs Sophie. I haven't gotten my IVF report yet.

Hiya Girlies :D

I'm a baby asprin taker too!!!

With my first two miscarraiges, i never took baby asprin, but my clinic advised me to take it on my next go, which i did, and ended up with a successful pregnancy. Obviously can't say if it works or not... but am taking baby asprin again, just to be on the safe side. I actually started taking it when i started taking the pill so have been on it for a good while now. Take it every morning along with the pill and my folic acid - hope you girlies have remembered to take your folic acid!! :D

Well, i'm starting to get kinda excited now...i start injecting next tuesday. Am doing a lot of positive visualisation at the moment, imaginieing every step that i'm going to go through... just trying to stay positive.

Hubbs is going to be injecting me - he's a diabetic, and injects himself regularly. I don't mind him doing it, it helps to make him feel more involved, only thing is he tend to leave me with lovely big bruises!!!

Hope you're all ok - love to ya'all xxx
Got pregnant with IUI triplets in March 04. One triplet stopped growing at 9 weeks. Gave birth to twin boys in Sep 04, Ciaran sadly lost his fight. Brennan's thriving.Looking to give Brennan a sibling soon.
