Sameera - why did they say you were a bad influence? Was it just because you married a white man? That's such a shame to lose contact with your family. I hope things are better now. I'm sure that now they've grown up they will understand. Families are crazy things.
Sorry to hear you're sick. Maybe you ought to call your OB? Perhaps you have a bug or something. Do you always have to go to your OB or do you have someone else to speak to - I always go to my midwife first. (I've never even met my OB!) Have you stopped throwing up now? Keep drinking water so you don't get dehydrated.

Tin - yeah, I was a bad influence cause I decided to date my dh and get married. Things are not quiet well with my family but at least they still talk to me before we didn't talk for 7 years!!..

I call my OB i do not have a midwife and usually my OB answers to anything I have issues with - she is very nice.

I have been throwing up non stop - i'm extremely nauseated and i am hungry at the moment but i cannot keep anything down.

been trying to drink lots of water but you know how that is..

Sameera - that's such a shame. 7 years is such a lot of time to miss. Hopefully your kids are helping to heal the rift and that they can see that you're happy and can celebrate that.
Hope you feel better - I'd certainly want to seek medical advice if I couldn't stop vomiting for so long.

yeah i called my OB she is calling in a prescription for me but she said if I am getting dehydrated then I need to go to hospital so they can put me on IV fluids.. yuck!

But so far i have been trying to drink as much as I can - my throat is so freaking thirsty.

Tin - Honestly, I gave up on my family and I know things will NEVER EVER be normal. I just want my kids to know that they do have mom's side of the family too and they have aunts/uncle and cousins..

I want my kids to not judge anyone but be good huma beings!

No matter what my family says - I will never ever change a thing between me and my dh or my kids. I'm glad things are great for us and that's my family and that's what I need to worry about.

Bah, sorry to be a downer.. you know with this pregnancy my hormones have been up/down.

Don't know why my old post was sent again?! Glad you're getting something for the sickness - hope you don't need to go to hospital, but better safe than sorry.

Don't give up completely on family, though I know it will never be normal. I have an awkward relationship with my mum - it fell apart when I was about 16 and she lost my trust big time and continued to do so ever since. It has taken this long just to feel comfortable seeing her and still it's not great, but now I've just about got a relationship that is on my terms and I can deal with. (The pregnancy will rock the boat as she'll want to be closer than I want, but I'll have to work out how to handle it.) As you say, you want the kids to know all the family. Glad you're happy with DH and kids - that's the most important thing. Being a good person has got to be the best rule in life. All the other rules that people invent, for whatever reasons, have got to be second to just being good, compassionate, tolerant etc.

And I don't think we need to apologise about whinging on this board - we'll all do it!
Back to work. Spent far too long on this forum today.

Hi ladies- how is everyone and their bump doing??

sameera- sorry to hear about your past family woes. It is very hard to be in an interracial marriage...luckily our families have looked past that and focused on our love for eachother. Of course, my mom wanted me to marry a Japanese man, but she knew I'd never find one here in Texas, so she has accepted DH. They have their friction, but I don't think its a racial thing, I think its more of a "he married my only daughter" thing. My dad is white, but he's not a big part of my life so I really did care what he said, but he loves my DH...I call them "BFFs" haha, cause dad drives DH crazy. His parents may have wanted DH to marry a Latina, but I think they like having a "japonesa" in the family. I'm sure time and more babies will soften their hard feelings...just be patient with them.
Oh, if you have been vomiting for more than 24 hours you should go to hospital for fluids b/c even though you have been drinking your electrolyte balance may be off. Make sure you are drinking gatorade or even pedialyte to stay hydrated!

TinNotts- How exciting to have some new clothes! Every weekend I keep telling myself to go buy stuff, but something comes up or I'm too lazy. Plus, I don't even have a bump yet so I want to wait a little bit. I've been wearing my old shorts zipped up halfway and using a rubber band to close the button. Honestly, I don't even know if I've gained any weight! Here we have the option of using a midwife, but most of us go directly to an OB...I don't know if insurances will cover a midwife. When I call the OB I usually leave a message for her nurse, then either the OB or nurse calls me back.

niki- I know how you feel, I have no tolerance for heat since being PG. We went to Sea World Saturday for DH"s company picnic...we didn't even go till 6pm but it was still freeking hot...I felt like I was going to pass out bc I couldn't breathe! So don't worry, your not the only one. DH thinks I'm a weenie.

God Bless!

Thank you girls for your kind words :) well, hopefully time will heal everything, we shall see!

I hate gatorade and pedialyte I know i am being picky but if i am already throwing up then I don't want anything that will make me wanna puke some more.. But IF I have to I certainly will for my babies.

Well, nurse said she is going to call me a prescription and will call me back with more details. so, waiting to hear from her what she wants me to do next if i need to go to hospital or not..

Chelly - what kind of insurance do you have?? I thought most of the insurances covers midwife - but good question to call your insurance and ask.

My OB is great and I feel like I could call her up and ask her anything and she will give me advise regardless so never really thought about midwife.

I'm sure you have gain few pounds it may not look like you have but there is a reason your baby is getting bigger in your tummy! his/her weight is gaining cause you are eating and both of you are gaining...

I'm telling you all of a sudden you will get a bump - it happened to me with my first pregnancy nobody knew I was preggo till i was in my 3rd trimester - I had a lil bump but you couldn't tell anything buy it :)

So hang in there before you know it you will get your bump :)

Hi Everyone... Hope you all are doing well.

Sameera - sorry to hear you are so sick. Just keep drinking the fluids and hopefully it will pass soon.

Things are going pretty good on my end except I seem to be having a problem with my feet. I am 17 weeks and already they are swollen. It seems that I am retaining water but only in my feet! I think it has to do with the fact that there is so much humidity here. I keep my feet up under my desk and try not to get up very often but it doesn't seem to helping very much. :(

Enough about me. I hope things work out for everyone and their families.

Sweet - I'm sorry about your feet but yeah try to keep your feet elevated at work and at home and while you are sleeping. it sucks that it's already started I knew I was gonna prolly have that issue too but so far i'm good.

Has your OB said anything about it??

Hey how do you know what month you are? or how far long you are in pregnancy?? I'm 16w4d as of today almost 17 weeks - and I was wondering would that be considered 4 months??

sameera- OMG I saw this story on tv, like on dateline or discovery or something...the tumor was massive growing off her behind. They had to be really careful not to let any amniotic fluid leak when they cut open the uterus, but it looked like the tumor was bigger than the baby! It truly is amazing what surgeons can do nowadays...can you imagine like 30 years ago there would have been nothing they could do?? I love watching all those birth story shows on TLC...I get all teary eyed thinking about having my own baby!
Oh, are you feeling better? Has the vomiting stopped?

jenn- I am only 15 weeks but I have been having leg cramps and foot swelling for several weeks already. Unfortunately I can't exactly take off my shoes and put my feet up, so I think that's why its more pronounced. One morning I woke up and got a charlie-horse, I thought I was going to die!! Have DH rub them for you when you get home!

Yay, officially 15 weeks today! So glad the nausea went away, now I am just waiting for my belly to pop and to start feeling the baby!

Oh, any one been to Coeur d'Alene Idaho? Just wondering....DH is signed up to do the Ironman Triathlon there next year.

God Bless!

Chelly - I feel so much better with that phenegran but it also makes you really tired and sleepy and I cannot stay awake at work even if I take half a pill..

I cry everytime I watch birth stories too just so natural and emotional for women - my dh says eawww that just grosses me out how you can sit there and watch all this lol..

he is a guy and they are not sensitive when it comes to delivery and bleeding and such.. hehe

yay on 15 weeks - we need to make a chart of everyones due date and u/s dates that way we know where everyone is and who is next and such..

what do you guys think?? i don't know everyones due date even though I'm sure I have been told before but it's hard to remember.

Hello all
Sameera - glad you're feeling better. I hope you don't have to take the sleepy pills any more. I can't believe you had to go to work if you are feeling so bad. Your EDD chart is a good idea - mine's 17 Jan (ish!)

Chelly - Glad your nausea's gone now. You must have a small bump if you have to use elastic to do your shorts up! It's useful not to have a bump until you're ready to tell people you're pg. What's a charlie horse?!

Sorry to hear about you and Jenn's feet. I feel very lucky - I'm in hardly any pain or discomfort. My tummy is quite big and feels bloated after a meal, but it's not bad, and I do have some pain under my ribs, but otherwise I've got nothing to whinge about. Lucky me!

Couldn't believe that story in msn - I'd be so freaked out if that happened to me. Wow.

I'm going to see Michael Buble in concert tonight - bump is very excited as he's very handsome! (Though we are sitting a mile away!) Hope I don't get too sleepy at the end!

Anyway, it may be a while before I write again as I'm off on the big to Scotland for a week tomorrow to tell the in-laws. Have a good week and hope your drive to Iowa is OK, Sameera. Tarra!

Sameera - I went to my OB yesterday and she said because we are having such a humid summer not to expect it to get any better unless the weather changes. My due date is Jan 1st and I think that chart is a good idea. Yes you would be considered 4 months. I signed up on the pampers and huggies website and they send you weekly emails of what to expect, new signs to look for and what you baby looks like at the week you are. It is awesome. It's nice to know what else to expect.

Tin - Glad you're feeling good. I hope you have a good time in Scotland and I hope the in-laws are very surprised.

Michele - Sorry to hear that you have been having problems with your legs for so long already. I am hoping when the weather settles down that my feet will settle down.

So after my OB appointment yesterday I went to visit my mom. I ended up having another 10 minute scan to look at the baby! I am having a BOY! Yeah so excited. They were 100% sure it was a boy as there was no missing his pee pee. Next ultrasound is on Aug 6th.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Jenn
