Traci,

I am with the others - 17 days past collection should be fine to test. Lets hope you are on coke at the dinner! When is your official date? Do your clinic do blood tests?

Hi all,

I hate to be pessimistic but I am 90% certain this has not worked for me.
No signs of AF but the thing is I just don't feel much of anything at all. I've ceased even having cramps and I've actually lost 5 lbs. (not that I'm complaining about that but it doesn't really seem like a good sign).

If I were to do another HPT on Fri. or Sat., is there a good chance it would show up +tive then if I was pregnant? I just want to be prepared mentally for the phone call from the clinic on Sunday. I mean I figure if I'm expecting a -tive then I'll be happily surprised if it turns out being +tive but if I were expecting a +tive I'd be absolutely crushed if it turned out being -tive. Make any sense?

Yes, I am officially losing it at this point! It is not helped by the fact that DH has zero understanding of what I'm going through. He probably wouldn't even remember what day the test is if I asked him.

Staci,

I cant remember when you had your EC so dont know when you should expect a proper result to a pee stick test. I usually work on 16 days from EC but I know you went to blasto stage so that may vary it. Good luck whichever day you do it.

My donor had her EC today and we got allocated 6 eggs which was OK. Now they tell us that 3 of those are immature so we only have 3 to play with. I am really scared that there will be a problem with fertilisation and we wont even get to ET. I was hoping for more eggs to give me a good chance but now feel dissappointed. I have fewer eggs to start with than i sometimes got with my own! I am trying to keep a PMA but failing dismally! Oh well only another 16 hrs till I find out but iit will seem like 16 days instead.

Sorry to be pessamistic. Wishing you all good luck with your own cycles.

Allison - try to keep positive - everything si such a massive hurdle isnt it. Remember you only actually need one to fertilise - and theres a VERY good chance that all three will - GOOD LUCK

Staci - DOnt give up. No symptoms mean NOTHING. Weight loss is just stress, and again means NOTHING. Remember 99% of people would even suspect they were pregnant at any point before the missed their period. I could have blood test done 14 days post ec (or 11 post et) and pee on a stick 16 days after ec. I tried the stick before and it didnt work!

Sont give -up - you have done EVERYTHING YOU can do. IF IF IF it doesnt work - I wont say its not tough because it is - but, you will go out for lots of choclate martinis and then get back into the saddle again when you feel ready. But I am sure it wont come to that. I am VERY positive!

re your DH - I think the guys just do feel quite detached from it all. Also it may just be his way of dealing with it. Dont think your alone and please dont think that you are married to the only man who sometimes isnt 100% with it!! We are here for you babe

Good luck!

Hi Allison,

Well, 16 days after my EC would be Sat. so maybe I'll try then (ok...might as well be honest. I will probably try every day until then). The thing with my having gone to blastocysts is that they did a day 5 transfer with the intent of having blastocysts but the embies were only at the stage of development that they are normally at on Day 4 (called morulas). They were apparently about 12 hours behind becoming blastocysts and, since they couldn't very well do the transfer at 10:30 at night (although I feel like maybe they should have given the amount we are paying them), they transferred morulas; not blastocysts. All of the embies they froze were also morulas. I've kind of had a bad feeling ever since that part of things. I read somewhere that embryos which have delayed development are less likely to implant. Of course, the Dr. didn't say anything about that and seemed to act like morulas were a good thing but I think he was just trying to make me feel better about the situation.

Sorry to hear about the smaller amount of eggs than you were hoping for. How old was the donor? There is a very good possibility that all 3 will fertilize (are they doing ISCI?) and that is all you need so try to stay positive (not that I am one to talk)!

Caz,

Thanks for the pep talk. I think I was in major need of one!

I guess you're right. It's too early to really feel any symptoms and I don't have any really good reason to think it hasn't worked. As far as the weight loss, I suppose it could be from stress and cutting alcohol from my diet. I guess I'm just getting myself mentally prepared for a possible let down. It would be difficult because our families are all so convinced it will work. I'd sort of feel like I was letting everyone down!

Anyway, will try to keep positive.

Hope you are doing well! Has it fully sunk in yet?

Have you been able to start working out again?

I'm off to get my hair cut then to go shopping. The more I can keep my mind of things the better....although I think this 2 ww might end up costing DH some extra $$$.

Hi Allison

I am sorry you are not very happy with the amount of eggs your donor produced. Are they doing ICSI on the 3 to maximise fetilisation? It does take just one so hang on in there. Keeping everything crossed for them.

Staci - Don't give up. It is early for a HPT and like Caz says just because you have no symptoms it means nothing. Some have symptoms some don't. There are no hard and fast rules. You must try to stay positive.

Keep smiling everyone and keep up the PMA!

Dagny,

No - We didnt do ICSI as sperm sample looked OK and we have never had a problem with fertilisation on IVF (100% once and 80% the other time - albeit with another clinic and a natural pg albeit that it ended in m/c) even using my own eggs which are poor quality.

The only time we have had a problem is using this clinic last time when they suggested ICSI so we agreed and of the seven eggs we had that time only two fertilised and neither of them divided so we didnt even get to ET. They said egg quality was the issue then but it still left us with a distrust of their ICSI procedures so we didnt want to do it again unless absolutely necessary. Egg quality should have been better so there shouldnt have been any problem.

Unfortunately there was a problem as only one egg fertilised so we are now praying that doesnt die so we can at least get to ET albeit with only a tiny chance of success.

I dont think I can go thru it again - anyway we have spent all our savings and more so far so dont think we could find the money anyway. I'm trying to be positive but it gets harder and harder with each failure.

I do wish the rest of you success.

Hi Allison
Just read your post, sorry your feeling a bit fed up, I hope the one embryo will be grat and things work out for you. I just wanted to say that we I also have poor quality eggs and have had a nat preg that ended in M/C hence the donor eggs. Can I ask with your own eggs you said fertilization wasn't a problem yet they gave you ICSI why? also what quality were your embryo's from your own eggs, and did they divide OK? I'm feeling a bit aprehensive (drugs kicking in!) I guess I like to be in control! This is also deffinately our last go as we have just cleaned out the savings account and I need a holiday!
When is E/T

Traci,

Considering what a complete psycho I've turned into, let's just say I will be showing amazing restraint just managing to save my last test until tomorrow morning. I am having a hard enough time not doing it right now... even though I just did one several hours ago!

I think that I will make sure I use my last one (which is a First Response) first thing in the morning though. I've used all the others in the afternoon or evening after I've already had a lot of fluids to drink. It probably doesn't matter so much but it gives me a little hope that maybe the others were just too watered down or something.

Today is my 15th day after EC (including EC as a day) but since I had my transfer 2 days later than most I don't know if that makes a difference?

We were supposed to start a Summer bowling league tomorrow night. I asked the nurse if she thought it would be ok for me to go. I didn't really see it doing any harm and I could use a diversion. Of course, she said that she wouldn't so now my DH will have to go without me and I am going to be stuck home Fri. night obsessing! :(

Traci,

Sounds like a good deal but you are forgetting we are in different time zones so not sure how we would work that :? .
Your 7:30 AM would be 2:30 AM for me.....not that I'm going to be getting much sleep anyway!

Traci - Staci

I'm sorry I know I shouldn't laugh but the different time zone thing just tickled me. There is always a spanner in the works isn't there?

We all get so close emotionaly during all this IVF and yet physically we are so far away from each other.

Whenever you both decide to test GOOD LUCK and loads of babydust.
