It's difficult to say - I get those flutterings everyday, but the actual kick is less often, but wonderful when it happens.

My sonographer said that Little One was kicking away a lot during the scan, but I didn't feel much then - it's so strange isn't it!!!

Hope you are doing ok - are you having a 20 week scan soon?

Little P,

I had a scan at 16 weeks (follow up to my sch) so I probably won't go again til 24 weeks....I have had scans at 8wks, 11 wks, 14 wks and 16 wks, so I think they are giving it a break!

24 weeks isn't far to go - you'll be astonished at the change between now and then.

Take care of yourself and your bundle.

Please don't worry - remember, every pregnant woman experiences the kicks at different times. Some women feel them quite early on, especially if this is a second or third, etc, pregnancy and some not properly until about 26 weeks.

As long as you feel ok and look after yourself them everything will be fine.

You've got your check-up very soon and I'm sure they will reassure you that everything is A-OK and even give you permission to step on board that plane and fly off to be with DH.

Keeping everything crossed for you.

Just a quick post to say glad your scan was good LP, hopefully you can stop worrying now!
Also good luck for tomorrow Smita. I hope alls OK. Look at all the worrying I had originally as a result of my nuchal scan, but everything has turned out fine so far. I think we are just given too much info nowadays.
Anyway

The board seems pretty active these days so I won't be able to address everyone independently, but hope everyone is doing well. Although I appear to be carrying small, baby is right on schedule. We are all so very different. Even with kicks. Sometimes the baby is turned in toward your stomach so you may not feel kicks as much at times. I tend to feel more when it is quiet and lying down after a good meal.

I won't swear on the board since no one really does, but my boss is a real bleep! Very insensitive. I had a meeting today to discuss December (busy time here at the restaurant) and had to really hold my ground for staying with 40-45 hour work weeks. I feel it is getting a bit absurd around here and plan to discuss with DH tonight. We could use the extra cash, but I am not sure it is worth all the frustration.

This may sound a bit selfish, but this is the last time in my life that DH and I will be alone together. I was hoping we could end this chapter in life on a happy note and begin our new family on a fantastic note!

Kim - I understand you wanting to leave earlier and do you plan on returning to work? I plan on being a stay-at-home-mom for awhile and just not sure when this will begin. . .

Next OB check-up this Friday. Taking the glucose test. . .hoping I pass.

Hi everyone

Little P - Glad your scan went well. Its an amazing sight isnt it? Were you not tempted to find out your baby's sex?!

Jacs - I also have 3 cats! (Was a vet nurse for 14 years, so cant get away without having lots of pets!). Last year we cut down their access to upstairs in the house and they dont appear to have suffered from it. You can get a plug in called a 'Feliway diffuser' from your vets. (Its also available in a spray as well). It releases 'cat pheromones' which makes your cats feel happier and less stressed. I have got one in preparation for January! The plug ins last a month at a time. Vets Ive spoken to have been very impressed with its results. (Used for cat behaviour problems).

Smita - Hope all goes well today and you are reassured. Dont worry about the kicks as yet. It is mainly flutters at first which you are feeling. Wont be long before your little one is making you jump (and hurting you in the process!)

Sher - Your boss sounds very unreasonable to expect you to work so many hours. I dont think its selfish at all to want to make the most of your last weeks alone with DH. Anyway, its in your baby's interests to be relaxed and unstressed for when he/she arrives. I am planning on going back to work (Only work part time in this job though, anyway. I was also a part time aromatherapist which ive given up for now). I am entitled to 6 months paid maternity leave and also an additional 6 months unpaid, so I will take as much time off as we can afford. I am aware it might all change when our baby arrives and that I might not want to go back at all. Will see what happens!

Take care everyone
Love Kim

Kim

I'm not the most patient person, so yes I would have loved to find out the sex but DH and I agreed that we wouldn't. Actually I'm glad now because I do love surprises and this will be a lovely one!!!

Sher

What a total b*st**d your boss sounds - I hope that things sort themselves out for you.

Smita

Good luck today - keeping everything crossed that all is ok.

Susie, Jessica, Cheryl, Jacs (and others!!)

Big hugs to you all - take care

Hi all,
Just back from the doctors..
all ok except they want me to come back next week for a cardiac scan, and so didnt scan me this a.m.- so I dont have news on my fluid leveks yet- but did get to hear the heartbeat on the doppler and it was pretty emotional..

Sher,
I agree with yours and the others sentiments on your lousy boss..
I hope you can work something out and abt sounding selfish, hah! I'm right there with you.. as in I'm thinking this is the only time i'll be alone with dh and I cant even be with him!!

Glad you're ok and things are looking alright. Will keep fingers crossed for next week.

It's lovely listening to the heartbeat and so reassuring isn't it?

Take care

Yes Little P,
The heartbeat sound was soo wonderful..the last time I heard it was when they were telling me that water levels were not good enough and so I wasnt even listening.. this time I was almost like, can i borrow this machine and take it home?? :D

I do wish dh was here..I do I do.. but in fact I've been telling him not to come over cause I cant bear my heart breaking each time he leaves..
He may turn up mid nov- 16 nov is anniv time,It'll be special if he's here, but then again, he'll probably get off only for a couple of days and I'm not sure if thats worth it.. the doc cleared me for going for a couple of weeks provided my scan goes ok next week..

My friends in Bahrain dont want me to come back till the baby is born.. they keep calling and telling me "dont come back".. everyone is worried abt the lack of spl care over there in the event that something goes wrong, plus a friends m/c in the 5th month after IVF haunts all of us.. They all want the best for me, but seomtimes I think" its easy for you all to say dont come back when you're being held by your dh's in the night or day or whenever you need a hug"

thanks for letting me vent girls.. this topic always gets me down..

You poor dear
I can't imagine having to go through not having DH here. I get all emotional every time I read your notes about how much you miss him.
I am glad you got to hear the heart beat, I hate waiting 4 weeks to hear it again.
Why is DH in one place and you in the other?????
My heart goes out to you,
All of us crazy ladies are here for you!!!!!!!!!
