buckeyegal~ That was one of the other possibilities my RE told me about as well. Either way, I'm glad there seems to be nothing to continue to worry over and don't they say "An ounce of precaution is worth a pound of cure." :D

My appointment is in the moring and I have a legal size note pad of question for my new OB. I'm sure he can't possibly get enough rest tonight!!! :D A little nervous but I'm excited to get to know my new RE.

Hope all is well with everyone today!

Hey gals,

I hope you had a good weekend. Mine's been busy! I ended up at the hospital on Friday (since no docs were in at my OB's office that day...I think they were golfing... :? ) I had another spotting episode. It was small again, but I had some unusual cramping as well, so they told me to head straight to L&D.

AFter all the tests, monitoring, etc., they found out that everything was fine (which deep down I thought it was...) Turns out the spotting was from my urine. Not sure why--no infection. I just have to keep an eye on it and drink more fluids...At least I wasn't going into early labor!

Everything's fine now. I'm back to my normal activities. Hope you all are well!

Hello all

Hope everyone had a good resting weekend.

Buckeyegal - glad to hear everything is fine with you now. Must have given you a bit of a scare initially. A few more weeks will take you into a safer zone. We are waiting patiently for that as well and then will be able to relax just a little more :D

We brought our cots on the weekend. They are wooden English Oak "Boori" brand. They are a 2 in 1 item so you can use them as a single bed until the twins are about 3 to 4 years old. Their room is coming together bit by bit :D

We have a scan to check my placenta position and cervix tomorrow so that should give us a better picture of where things are at. No spotting now for about a month so expect things should be OK.

Have not heard from a few gals on this forum for some time so hope all is well with you.

Belly rubs to all

Kim~ What a fright!!! That's great mother's intuition that you just sort of knew everything was fine. Glad you were right! When I had my one episode, I knew as well but it still made me want to freeze time and just take a deep breath! Still scarier than any horror movie!!!! Happy to hear your well.

Diane~ Sounds like you are sailing along smoothly! Your cot sounds perfect! Good luck getting everything in all put together before they get here! Pictures are a must! :D

I had my 13 month old nephew yesterday for 13 hours straight and boy am I tired! He's a very serious and inquisitive sort of little guy but when he hears music he just can't stop himself from dancing!!!! He's real petite with white blond hair and a big dimple. . . I think I could have crushed ribs squeezing him half the day. DH pointed out how tired we were and there was only one of him and he's very mellow!!! Uh-OH!!!!! Can't wait!

You made me smile with your baby sitting efforts. We had the opportunity to visit my bother who happens to have a three year old and a 4 month old - I was very glad to hand them back as I too was so tired after the constant interaction! My MIL reminded me that we will experience that same when our babies are here and you won't be able to hand them to anyone  I think of the impending birth and it makes me a little nervous but I am sure we will adapt, as people do.

Do any of you get a little nervous thinking about how you will handle it all - really depends on what type of babies they turn out to be - does'nt it?

Diane~ SOOO glad to hear someone understands!!!! The little guy just simply took our every second. We didn't want to even attempt to hook up our new printer with him anywhere near! There was even one point where he fell asleep on the floor in a main walkway and we were all certain it was not a big enough deal to move him!!! Poor fella!

My fear is more directed toward Dh than the babies. It is so important that he knows this relationship is number one and I hope I'l be able to not make him feel left out. He is very understanding and not worried about this at all but the best gift I want to give my children is a strong family that they can admire and feel secure in. Of course the children will demand immediate attention and they will change things but I just hope I can make dh feel like my feeling for him are still the same. I hear so many poeple say their marriage suffered after one baby that it gets me worried from time to time about two.

Like you said, I guess we will adapt!!!

The one thing that just got me riled about watching my nephew was his mother was almost 5 hours late!!!!!!! She is very young and he was an accident but I just got so mad when 11 pm rolled around and she pulled in my driveway. I can't even stay up until 11 pm anymore!!!!! She said she "Lost track of time" and took the $380 worth of clothes, shoes, toys, and misc things my father and I got for him, quick thanks, and left! No call to say how grateful she was this morning or anything. Makes me a little more appreciative that my life ended up in IVF. I can't imagine being 5 hours late to p/u my child unless I'm dead. There isn't one woman on here that won't appreciate her baby or babies beyond words. That little guy just slept through being forgotten but I didn't!

There is my rant for the day! Sorry!!!!

Take care!

I had my 28 week level 2 ultrasound appt. with the perinatologist today. My babies weigh 2 lbs 5oz each!!!! They've gained almost a pound each in the last 3 weeks.

They look perfect, no signs of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome or any other problems. Dr said my cervix is still nice and long, so the contractions I've been having are just Braxton-Hicks and nothing to worry about.

As bored as I've been sitting home for the last few weeks, it's worth it because the babies are doing so well.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi gals...

Kimberly--I think any of us would have been exhausted after being with a 13 month old right now! Remember, you're already tired from carrying around 2 babies! I agree with you and Di--it's going to be a bit scary dealing with 2 babies at once, but I would much rather have this situation than a failed IVF. From what I've heard, the first year will be very exhausting and rough at times. But, the good news is, as they begin to play and socialize, they'll have a built in playmate--which will take some of the pressure off of us! My friends who have one baby say the toddler years are exhausting because you're always having to "entertain". Hopefully, our twins will be able to help entertain each other when we need a breather....we can always hope, right?
(Di is right though...we'll have to wait until they make their appearance to see what their temperments are like! :? )

LauraLou--Your babies are doing great! That is a bit scary how fast they gain wait! No wonder my belly is doing the unimaginable right now! ha ha.

Di--How was your scan? Your cribs sound like ours...they'll "grow" with the kiddos. We figure we can get more for our money that way.

TAke care gals! I'm off to rest. I hope your babies are kicking and dancing like mine are right now! :D

Girls,

I love reading all your posts, all the different stages in your twin pregnancies. I sometimes still have to pinch myself that I was finally so lucky and to get 2 at the same time. I have no morning sickness anymore which if I am honest, worries me. You know how it goes..worry if its there..worry if its not. I can't wait to have my scans next week. I have two, Nuchal on Tuesday and regular scan on Thursday. I really hope these little ones are okay. I am so excited about seeing them again.

When did you feel the first kick. I believe it's earlier on twins, is that true??

Buckeyegal- I know it's amazing how much bigger you get once you hit about 20 weeks. Everything just keeps expanding at an amazing rate. I can't imagine what I'll look like in 2 more months.

Macca8- I didn't feel any movement until really late, about 20 weeks. And even then, only a little. It was about 22 weeks that I really started to feel them move a lot.

I was really stressed about it as people kept saying, "You must really feel them moving in there", since I was about 16 weeks and I didn't feel anything. My doctor said not to worry because first time moms take longer to feel anything, but of course I stressed about it. Thank goodness for the every 3 week sonos, which let me know the babies were okay.

I also had almost no morning sickness. I think I threw up twice and of the 20 Zofran (anti-nausea pills) the dr gave me, I only took about half. I was so lucky, as some women are so terribly ill with twins.

I hope your nuchal goes well. I had the CVS test done (genetic testing) and was so relieved when the results came back perfectly normal.

macca8--Congratulations on the twins! Good luck at your scans...I'm sure all will be well! I actually had 24 hour sickness until week 16...I never actually "got" sick, but I was nauseus all day long...ugh...so glad that's over. Be glad you don't have it. It's not fun. As for kicking, mine kicked late too! I felt some possible kicks around 20 weeks, but I really didn't feel them on a regular basis until week 22 or 23. ( I was worried that I hadn't been feeling them sooner, but all was well..) Now I feel them pretty often. It's fun to feel them kick, if not a bit strange!

Hope everyone else is feeling well! Rub your bellies!

Hello all

Congrats Laura on your trouble free scan - its nice to know that all is well! You have done well to get to 28 weeks with no sign of impending labour. It is truely amazing how much these babies grow every 4 weeks. Apparently from 24 to 28 weeks the babies double their birth weight, can't imaging how big that will make me!

Macca8 - good luck with your up coming scans - hope all goes well for you. I agree with you that it is great that we can access these forums to share lots of info and ask questions etc....

Maybe some of you do not feel your movements because of the position of your placenta. Apparently if one placenta is anterior it takes a little longer to feel movements.....just a thought.

As for testing of abnormalities, we did not have any testing done as there did not seem to be any markers that indicated that we should investigate further. Our thoughts at the time were that if we found something wrong with one twin then we were hardly likely to anything because of the presence of the other twin. Of course if you know something is wrong then you can prepare. We thought the risks associated with the invasive testing was not worth it. I know everyone feels different about such tests so please don't feel like I am saying you should not have any testing. I just understand that some people DO need to do them :D and we all have to do what we have to do!

I brought myself a book about conceiving, carrying, birthing, parenting twins to help to prepare for what lies ahead. I also spoke to my sister whose daughter had twins this last Feb. It freaked me out a little to how naive I maybe approaching this  Ran out and brought some more baby wraps as apparently my niece goes through 8 a day! Then it made me think that maybe I have under estimated how much clothing I will go through in one day and hey maybe I did not buy enough things for them and on and on....my sister says in her opinion her daughters babies are really good and her daughter is still extremely busy  I think I will have to be very organised to do all that I have to do. I dropped one subject from uni although there are some who still think I will find it hard going with two babies and one subject - good grief how hard is it going to be?

The book I got is very realistic as well - maybe too realistic  It was written by two mums who both had twins. They say that the crying reduces after the first THREE months! So................I will just wait and see.......

Will post pics when I have completed the nursery. I have to hand stencil some stars so will not be finished for a few weeks I think.

As for me, my scan went great! Baby A (boy) is 1lb 5oz and baby B (girl) is 1 lb 6oz - mother and babies are doing fine :D We are due to have another scan on the 24th April. My cervix is long and closed - yippee. I must say I am really starting for the first time to get really excited. We had so much worry up until now. Not with the babies or pregnancy but just in our minds. Worrying about if we were going to make it so to speak. Now we are getting to a stage where if they are going to be born early they will be viable. We are 24 weeks tomorrow and I will feel much better after we reach 26 weeks as the babies will definately have a chance. Two weeks to go........

Hope everyone is feeling fine, belly rubs to all and sorry for such a looooong post :D

Diane,

That is interesting about the position of the placenta and feeling movement. My twins are identical, thus sharing a placenta, and it is anterior. Perhaps that is why it took me so long to feel movement.

I bought a couple of books about twins when I first found out but stopped reading them because they were stressing me out! All they talked about were how you'd get no sleep and still be in your pajamas at 3:00 in the afternoon. Too much reality for me!

Congrats on getting to 24 weeks! You are doing so well. You are right, it is relieving to get to a point in your pregnancy where you know your babies will be okay, even if they come tomorrow.

When you say baby wraps, do you mean baby blankets? I can't imagine needing 8 blankets a day. If so, I definitely don't have enough.

Hi gals~
Would love to write to everyone tonight but I am not feeling so great so I will make it super short. As embarrassing as it is, I don't feel great because of constipation. . .sorry TMI!!!!

Sounds like everyone is doing so great with growing babies and positive test results. So happy for everyone! Our group sounds real healthy and happy minus a little acne  and the occasional worry!
Have a great night everyone and take care!

Laura - I agree with you those baby books are way too realistic and scary  I found myself having a mild panic attack. BUT it made me think how do I feed two crying babies....bath two babies.....we don't have any family nearby so it is just DH and me but mostly will be me  Even my DH is starting to think he has not been too realistic and how I am going to cope - great! Deep down, I am sure we will all manage fine - it is just at the moment we can't imagine HOW we are going to do things.

The baby blankets I refered to are the swadling wraps when they are newborn. I had 8 and now I have 18! Should be enough me thinks  We certainly need a huge amount of things for these babies!

Ah Kholtan, the joys of pregnancy - you poor thing. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Has anyone been thinking of names yet - you don't have to tell the specific names if you don't want too - just ones you are throwing around.

We have Ava, Bronte, or Analiese for girls and Harry, Lachlan, Nicholas or Oliver for boys. I also like Liam. I don't like my chances at having Nicholas or Oliver as DH is really not keen on those names - Oh well.....

Cheers all
