That sounds pretty severe to me. maybe they can give you Zofran or reglan (there is another one can't remember the name) - I took that in first trimester with my DS. So sorry you are so sick! good luck!

Ryann - I'm with Zoe about talking to your OB about a prescription. My nausea was horrid, also. I just called and talked with the NP and told her all what I was doing (aka ginger ale, small frequent meals, folic acid instead of prenatal vitamin, getting out of bed slow in the morning, etc.) and that I was literally still unable to function day to day. Zofran was prescribed (most insurance covers the generic brand) and it worked immediately! I really hope your doc can help so you can find some relief! :D

zoegirl - Thanks! It's a transabdominal cerclage. I've had a lot of procedures & surgeries on my cervix and lost about a 1/3 of it's length because of them. With such a short cervix to start and not knowing how it would react to this pregnancy, we decided a TAC would be our best option (vaginal cerclage has higher failure & infection rates.) With this surgery they do a c-section like incision and put a band around the upper part of the cervix right below the uterus so the cervix doesn't open prematurely. So now the baby should be on lockdown until 37 or 38 weeks when they'll do a c-section.

Stephanie & Ryann - Thanks so much! I'm so thankful I had such a great specialist to do the surgery and that it all went beautifully. Now it's just the painful recovery to get through, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Ryann - I'm sorry you're feeling soooo crappy. Definitely talk to your doc and see if there is something that could help you and keep us posted.

Ryann - sorry you don't feel good

KatieG - thanks for stopping by! I was nervous too and I completely understand you being scared, but now I miss "going to have twins" crazy I know but we are mommies and seeing that HB made me fall in love with both!

Amanda~ you are so brave! I hope the pain goes away soon. Will be praying you don't lose your mind in the mean time. :)

Ryann~ Zofran, lady...it just might make you feel a lot better. Give your RE a call and have them fax over a script to your pharmacy. :)

Rio~ Good luck with the GD stuff. I know that must be so frustrating to be dealing with it so early on. Yay, for another ultrasound! What would we do if we couldn't see our kiddo's so often. We are blessed. :)

AFM~ Feeling crappy. Mostly dealing with stinking headaches that will not go away...morning after morning I wake up with that same pesky throbbing behind my eyes. It's making me crazy. Trying a little coffee this morning to see if that good ole caffeine will do the trick..oh i miss my excedrin. :) My pot belly is growing, and my yoga pants are my best friend right now. Looking frumpy and loving it! My family is leaving to a week, and I am stuck at home taking it easy as instructed...I think it might get a little lonely around here.

Hope everyone is doing awesome!

Hello!!!

I was part of the winter board and our first IVF ended in a chemical pregnancy. However... We got a great gift for christmas and we got pregnant the good old fashion way!.... I believe something must have been triggered or awakened by all the hormones from the IVF. I was almost unbelievable at first... very ironic, but such is life!

Long story short, we are 5 weeks pregnant and extremely anxious!. My mind can't stop thinking baby and pregnancy. I don't feel anything and I have no morning sickness yet!. Let's hope it stays that way.

I hope it's OK to join you.

Hi Ginger and Karina! Welcome to the group! Tell us your stories and let us know how you are doing!! If you check out page one and give me your information I'll happily add you. When are you due?

Amanda - My heart goes out to you, you poor thing! I'm so glad your surgery went well and baby was happy and healthy. How is your growing stomach going to be on your incision? Big hugs... you must feel SO much better. I thought the procedure was amazing as you described it...

Sorry about the headache, Mellow... what about Tylenol? Hope the caffeine helps! Things are going well and you are doing what next? Is there another ultrasound? No more spotting I take it? Enjoy the alone time... get some chick flicks and order in your favorite food! LOL

Rio, make sure you post some photos!

AFM - not much to report - this pregnancy is normal, boring and going by quickly. I'm in my 15th week already. Baby has moved up according to my doppler from just behind my pubic bone to just under my belly button. Heartbeat is found almost immediately and is loud and strong. We have an ultrasound (3D) booked for January 24th - kinda excited about that. It's not our 'official' ultrasound, but David is working away and we are meeting for his days off.. so it's his only chance to see the baby. My energy is a lot better and I rarely, rarely feel sick anymore. Just some round ligament pain that gets pretty bad at times and really dry nose and throat at night. Just bought a good humidifier so that should help.

Congrats again to the new preggos and a big shout out to the ladies who are plugging along and are FINALLY happily pregnant!! :)

The tylenol wasn't touching it. The coffee seemed to help a little bit this morning. Yay! Things are going okay, as long as I am not doing anything. I am still having black clotty gunk coming out of me...at least it isn't red, but it's constant. There was still a very sizable bleed at my u/s on Monday. It hasn't become any smaller yet. I go in again on Monday afternoon for an ultrasound. I'm getting used to seeing these little guys..it will be hard when I don't go to the RE anymore. My DH stocked up the fridge on easy to eat foods for me...and since I am not supposed to go anywhere, I think I am all set. It really is going to be quiet with just me and our little furbaby...he will be sick of me by the time they come home next week. :)

Hi all,
Rio I am so sorry about your GD this early, I am super nervous because last pregnancy I was borderline, I did not pass the one hour test and had to do the three hour one which I did pass but I think my numbers were not great...

Mellow Congrats that your twins are doing great after all the scare, to bad about the headache though.

Amanda good that everything went well with your surgery, hoping you heal fast and great.

Ryann Sorry you are having such a hard time with nausea, mine is not that bad and it comes in waves, one minute I feel fine and the next bang I have to run to the bathroom, although I can still eat well and my vomiting episodes are not that frequent so I have not had to take any medicine, should ask your doctor what you can take.

Txc and Karian Welcome!

AFM my ultrasound went well on tuesday, baby was measuring right and heartbeat was 152... Next ultrasound is until Feb 7, so far away. No testing is done here other than the measurements they do around the 12th week, it is not legal to terminate pregnancy no matter the circumstances, so no screening or cvs or amnio is done here, so I do not have a choice anyways...

Hugs to all,
Ana

Ginger & Karina - Congratulations and welcome to the group! So glad you joined us and I'm looking forward to great reports and u/s pics! :D

Rio - Good luck with your u/s today! Can't wait to hear how your little one is doing and see a new pic! And to answer your question, this will be my first c-section, my first 2 were vaginal. At least this surgery & recovery is giving me a taste of what the c-section will be like (though I know the c-section will be a bit tougher than this.)

Sonya - Thanks so much! You must be so excited about that 3d u/s coming up. I can't wait to see pictures! I wrote about my surgery experience on my blog, but I have to say when it came to the actual surgery part, I focused so much on relaxing that I barely heard what the surgeons were saying. I was a nervous wreck on that operating table. Seeing the baby right before the surgery and right before they closed me up kept me sane during the actual surgery. It'll be interesting to see how the growing belly affects the incision. Like right now, my bump is above my incision so I really can't see the incision & staples unless I look in the mirror (had to have DH take a pic of it for my blog.) I just can't see over the bump. So I'm hoping that my bump will stay up there while this heals so it won't be too uncomfortable.

AFM, moving a little bit better today. My weight is down almost 8 pounds since I got home from the hospital Tuesday night so you can tell I was really retaining fluids. I think all that puffiness & gas pain was causing quite a bit of pain too so losing that could be why I'm feeling a bit better today. I'm 13 weeks along today and it feels great to be in the 2nd trimester now!

Anyone grossed out by sweet stuff since becoming pregnant? In the past week, one packet of splenda tastes as sweet as two used to. I just had a gingersnap - which I used to LOVE and it tastest to me like they put 2 or 3 times too much sugar in it. I am sort of bummed about this! I did a low carb diet on RE's orders since early August to improve my egg quality and told myself that when I eventually became preggo I could finally eat the foods I love again. Now they taste gross. Don't get me wrong-- given the choice, I'd rather be pregnant and not able to eat sweets than not pregnant!

I can still eat fruit - that sweetness does not bother me. And thankfully, chocolate tastes good in little bits (this really odd - prior to pregnancy chocolate gave me terrible reflux!) I keep helping myself to my son's kitkat stash which we use for potty training rewards!
