Hi gals,

Di--I'm glad your scan went well...your attitude about testing is the same as mine. We did have the nuchal fold scan, and all looked good...so we didn't do any other testing. It took so much to get these babies, we figured we would take whatever God handed us.

18 swaddling blankets???? Arggghh? I have to remember that it'll be summer and hot here when my babies are born, so maybe I won't need so many? Oh boy....

We do have some name possiblities...Ellie or Ava for girls. Braedyn, Blake for boys. I mentioned my favorites. We'll see what happens!

kholtan--sorry about the problem. Go drink some prune juice! :?

I actually held off on the twin books until a week or two ago...I'm reading them with a bit of trepidation....I know my life will be crazy, but maybe ignorance is bliss?

Is 26 weeks considered safe? I thought it was 28....I just want to hold them in as long as possible!

Good night gals...

Buckeyegal - we will be going into winter so I have a mixture of muslin and fleecy wraps - 18 should be enough! You may not use so many as you will be in the hotter months, maybe muslin wraps would be better.....

Names - it is HARD to agree - although there are names we both like. I think we have pretty well settled on our names just not too sure about the baby boys middle name.

Ellie is a pretty name. There are so many names out there - we tried to opt for more unusual names except for the boy name which is a little more common. His middle name is really uncommon - if we use it :D

Cheers

I'm actually a high-risk OB nurse, so these are the statistics we give our pts.

Babies are considered viable at 24 weeks, but there is a huge risk of permanent disabilities if they deliver that early, about 50%. Once you hit 28 weeks, the chances of disabilites are much smaller, less than 10%.

By 32 weeks, it is almost certain that the babies will be fine if they deliver. Of course all preterm babies have problems with breathing and eating, but nothing that time in the NICU won't fix.

Kholtan- try Colace. It is a stool softener you can buy over the counter. It is safe to take during pregnancy and really helps with constipation.

I think DH and I have decided to call the boys Jeremy and Nicholas. I had to talk him out of naming both of them Robert after him. Can you imagine 3 Roberts in one family, two of which are identical? I don't think so!

Laura

Jeremy and Nicolas are really cute names :) I like both of them very much.

I guess my point about the babies being born after 24 weeks is that they may have a chance of surviving. Before that there is very little chance. At 26 weeks the prognosis would be better but still not risk free. I hope we all continue to carry to at least 34 weeks now that would be optimal :D I know that at 24 weeks that each day you can hold on to them makes a difference.

Buckeyegal - The 26 weeks was more in my mind about viability and a reasonable chance of survival for the babies.

Belly rubs to all :D

Di

I know of a girl who just gave birth to a singleton at 22 weeks (incompetent cervix) the baby had no chance. Don't know how I would cope with something like that - poor girl.

Diane- I too had a sigh of relief when I hit 24 weeks, as I knew my babies at least had a chance of survival. I was even happier this week when I hit 28 weeks. As that means that not only would they survive but chances are they would not have any permanent problems.

Now I am waiting for 32 weeks, when I know everything will be okay with them. My goal is 36 weeks and 5lbs each, as they would probably come home with me and not need any time in the NICU.

It is amazing how well everyone is doing with their twin pregnancies on this thread. I read another twin pregnancy board and everyone there is on bedrest, has gestational diabetes, high blood pressure or some other problem. I guess after everything we've been thru to have these babies, we deserve to have a relatively problem-free pregnancy!

LauraLou--It's so good to know we have someone on the "inside track" on this thread! Wouldn't it be great if we all made it at least until 36 weeks? I don't know if I'm being naive, but I just keep thinking to myself that the babes will be fine, and that they'll make it at least that long. Maybe positive thinking will help that happen? I hope so. (By the way, your names are great!)

I'll be praying that we all keep cooking until 36 weeks!

I had my first bout with sciatic nerve today. It was very sharp pain, and it didn't make it very easy to teach 7 year olds! I'm hoping it will be better tomorrow. Have any of you gals dealt with this? Any advice?

Have a good night gals. I hope your babies are kicking for ya!

Hi girls

Good luck with your tests - I am sure everything will be just fine. It is always such a relief when your results come back though to confirm that everything is fine.

We had our glucose test results come back today and everything is fine - just a little low on the iron.

Belly rubs to all

diane--congrats on the good glucose test! Yeah! They say low iron is pretty common in multiples...good luck with the supplements.

tony---you're almost there! Good luck! I wish the worrying stopped at 12 weeks, but there'll always be something to worry about!

kimberly and lisa--I hope your nuchal scans go well--it is such a relief to see that the babies are okay!

I hope everyone else is well and getting big!

My last post should have been Hi Girls and Boys - sorry Tony :)

There does not seem to be a majical number of weeks when the worry stops. I think even in singleton pregnancies you worry but even more so when you are carrying multiples. We are at 26 weeks and 4 days and we have not stopped worrying! I think for us personally it will be the 28th week mark that says maybe you can relax a little now

Cheers to everyone

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! Only half a day to go! Whoohoo! I just want to see them and know they are both alright.

Glad everyone is doing so great. A little low iron here and a hungry mommy there isn't so bad for all of us with two on the way. So happy we are able to share so much encouragement. Di~ Your so close to 28 weeks! I bet you are getting more relieved every day!!!!!! :D

Gotta head to work this morning but I will report back as soon as I know the results! Can't wait to heat your good news as well Lisa!

Take care~
