TREATMENT PLAN Image

Hi everyone, well my appointment yesterday with the RE went well. Eventhough everything went as planned last time, he basically told me as nice as possible the biggest problem is my age. But he said this time we are changining things and hopefully it will improve the quality of my eggs.

He changed one of my medications to bravelle. Has anyone used this and what did they think? Another thing that was really weird, he prescribed me Glucophage (for diabetics). I am to take in twice a day. Has anyone heard of this before?

Okay, sorry for rambling on, but the last thing I have to tell you all is about my sister-in-law. She talked to my DH and said if this round doesn't work for us that if we have any frozen embies left over that she would gladly carry them for us. Image We talked with the RE about it and he said that would be no problem. She gets pregnant soooo easy. She has 5 girls and she is only 26, so her age is much better than mine.

Anyways, thats the plan for us and if this all doesn't work out we will just accept that God has other plans for us.

Love you all,
Alicia Image

Alicia, wow, this is so overwhelming, ha? That is so nice of your sister in law to offer that! 5 girls, that's unbelievable... That is so nice to know that you can do that, if plan A does not work out. See, at least you can make those embies happen and that's important. Look at me, I don't even respond to the meds, even though I am normally fertile. If the meds won't work out this next time, I don't know what we are going to do. What a situation, IVF is the only option for my hubby and I don't respond to IVF meds, even though I can have babies naturally without problems. So my stimulation will be challenge already... and I am 32.
I don't know much about the meds they are giving you. I have heard of bravelle, but don't know much about it. I am on different meds too this time. I guess they want to see if that's going to make any difference.
So when are you starting? My ER is scheduled for Oct. 10th or so, if everything goes well...it is almost here
Love, your friend always LolaImage

Alicia - That sounds like the exact info my RE gave me - my age was making 'bad eggs'.....although Ghost actually stated that my stat's didn't really point to that. I've read lots of places that the standard 'RE' answer to a negative result was 'bad eggs' and if your over 35, it's the easiest answer. Not to say it isn't true, but you still do have lots of good eggs - and more good ones than bad ones. I wish there was more out there on how to 'improve your eggs' - the little I've found is mostly the usual stuff - no caffeine, drinking, eat well, etc. I also read 1 study that said L-arginine can help as well, so I've started taking that. I also read that the eggs you ovulate this month actually start their journey 100 days prior - whew! I don't recall how old you are (I thought you were younger than me), so keep your PMA! And, it's nice that you have a back-up option from your SIL....very interesting idea! Also - I 'd love to know more about the glucophage and why you're on that? It's usually to lower blood sugar, like you said, so I wonder how it helps?

Lola - Wow, it seems like just yesterday we were posted on our prior cycle - it's so cool that you're already scheduled for ER in just a little while. I'm so excited for you and am wishing you lots of follies/eggs!

As for me, I'm now officially 1 day late on my second AF....which will signal the start of the next round (well, I start the BCPs anyway....) I hope I'm not still messed up from the last cycle....I'm usually quite regular, if not early, never late....ugh!

Take care,

- Suzhan

Lola- I have a really great feeling this time the meds will work for you. I didn't feel like I responded that well to my meds and I'm happy he is doing something different. I need to produce enough eggs to have some frozen embies left over for my SIL. I feel like you do, very nervous if this doesn't work out I have to face the fact we are going to be childless.

ImageYou are very young still, so I'm sure your going to do great this time. I will be cheering for you the whole way! My AF should be here Oct 1st and I will start injections the day after. So maybe my ER will be sometime around the 16th. I will let you know more next week. Hopefully our schedules will be close.

Suzhan - I'm going to be 37 in November Image and not looking forward to it. I agree with you that its an easy out for the RE to say our eggs are old. I am doing some research on the glucophage and will let you know. I also forgot to mention he put me on this herbal formula that is supposed to help the quality of my eggs. I need all the help I can get! Its frustrating when I do everything in my power to be as healthy as possible and other women can do drugs or whatever and still have a baby.

Okay I am doing venting! Sorry I think I'm just really nervous cause this could be my last shot. Anyways, thanks for listening to me.

Love you all,
Alicia

Alicia --- thank you so much for your support, I am so glad that you and Suzhan will start aproximately at the same time. We have to be positive, of course!!!! Alicia, I don't think 37 is that old yet, I would start worry at 40. But everybody is different. My friend just got pregnant naturally and she is 41. She is 4 months pregnant. She had 4 miscarriages prior to that. We just have to keep on trying. It's just so expensive, we are paying cash for everything and they want everything up front! We already paid over 10 K (inlcuding meds) and did not even get to the ER part.
I will be here with you through this, so feel free to vent whenever. Image

Suzhan --- you are starting again soon! My AF was late as well, so don't worry. I hope it comes soon though, so we can all be on a similar schedule. Ghost is such a sweat heart, ha? He responds everytime I ask him a question. He is a true blessing!Image

Everybody else, please let me know how you are and how is everything going, so I can do a new update. I have heard from Malinka on a different post, her cycle is about to be cancelled, she will get to know tomorrow for sure. I know how that feels, so I had to share my story with her...Image

Hope everybody is doing well, love Lola

Alicia, What a nice SIL to offer to carry your embies. She has a good heart and must care about you and DH very much.
I'm 37 too, but I do not feel that is too old yet. I think it's a state of mind. Think young and you are young! I look pretty young for my age though. DH is 9.5 years younger than me. When we met I was 29, he was 21 and he actually thought I was still in high school, LOL! When he asked me out I tried to turn him down because of our age difference. But he persisted and here we are today. :D .
Don't know much about the meds your taking. But perhaps your blood sugar is high and that what the Glucophage is for. :?: What's your diet like? I was reading that when TTC you should eat a high protien, low sugar diet. You will produce better quality eggs and it helps implantation too.
I really hope your new protocol will be perfect for you. It seems like your RE is trying to figure out something better for you.

Lola It won't be long for you! Yay! I hope this time is the one for you! You paid over 10k including meds? How much more do you have to pay? I found a clinic in TX that is half what we paid here (not incl meds). I am seriously considering travel to another state if this time does not work. Will have to look at our financial situation in about a year. I've read in message boards of women traveling to other countries where IVF costs like $3000. Cheap, but scary to me.

Good luck Suzhan! I'm doing the AF dance for you. And you too Lola! Image

I have my FET consultation on Tues. I will get my schedule at that time. I'm getting excited again. :D Transfer should be the last week of Oct. 2ww should be during the beginning of Nov. I guess most of you will know by then if you are PG. I can't wait. It's too close to the holidays for us to not get that special gift! I pray, pray, pray we all get BFP!

Alicia - I think it's awesome that your sister-in-law offered to carry your frozen embies should you need her. It's nice to have a sort of back up plan. I don't know much about using glucophage for IVF but if that is what makes the difference for this cycle working, then it'll be worth it. Best of luck this cycle.

Lola - Nice to see that the 'turtle' is at the starting line again :) . I knew that you'd be starting soon enough, it just probably seemed like it was taking forever to get here. October 10th will be here right around the corner and you'll be updating us on how many eggs were retrieved.

Suzhan - I hope your AF has arrived by now and if not, it arrives very soon. I think this must be the only time in our lives that we can't wait for AF to arrive.

As for me, I am sorry that I haven't been able to post lately. Between the ER, ET and my DH needing the computer for work, I haven't been able to log on.

I had my ER this past Monday. They were able to retrieve 17 eggs and when I first heard that I was excited because I thought to myself that'll give us plenty of embies. Well only 6 fertilized. I was quite disappointed by then I reminded myself that we only need one good one. I think my age (I just turned 38 two weeks ago) had something to do with the low number fertilizing versus retrieved. The doctor wasn't really able to answer why so few fertilized. Thursday was the ET (my clinic does a three day transfer). We transferred two and now the wait has begun. I am trying not to obsess about it (whether we'll get pregnant or not) but it's kind of hard not to :) . October 2nd is our big day for the blood test.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
