estrellita, this thread is like a novel...a really good one! So enjoy and jump in anytime.

melanie, sorry about yor BFN. We're still right here with ya through your FET journey  You reminded me to mention that I did speak with my RE today about my husband not being available every night to administer the PIO injection (you know, trying to get out of the shot all together  ). Well it didn't work. Instead of offering me the suppository options she goes "oh, that's no problem. You can do it yourself in your thigh!" I didn't push it any further. I figure they must be more confident in the shot so it's what I"ll do.

So ladies, how bad is the PIO shot??

Hi Estrellita, what is your schedule for IVF? You're starting stimulation in a few days?

Cymplicity, PIO shots are kind of bad (I'm not going to lie), but I'm a bit partial to them since I did get pregnant using them! The first couple weeks weren't so bad, but I had to continue with them for 6 weeks total after I was pregnant. I got huge nodules in my two ass cheeks, but, really, you get used to it. This time my ER is saying that I will use the progesterone suppositories, so I'm going into it with an open mind, although, in the back of my mind, I'm wondering if I should switch from a good thing! I do go to the "Almighty Mayo Clinic" in Rochester, MN, so I feel like my ER has done A LOT of research to come to the conclusion that switching to the suppositories is the right thing to do. They did say that if I put up a big fuss, they'd "let" me do the PIO shots if I wanted to. Now, I'm absolutely NOT knocking the Mayo Clinic! They saved my husband's life in 1996 when they brought him back from the brink of death with a heart transplant AND they gave me my first precious child, so I'm trusting them completely!!

Melanie, I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN. Your attitude seems to be in the right spot, though...looking forward. I'm sure you'll have success with one of your frosties! We'll be here for you with your FET. I'm preparing for my first FET now.

Latinosunshine, I sure hope you get pregnant. That would be absolutely awesome if you'd be able to help your mom by donating your baby's cord blood. I'll say an extra prayer for your mom.

Sisi, FINALLY! Good luck with the ER!!

Babymex, I'm so sorry about the ectopic pregnancy. You've probably been on a bigger emotional roller coaster than most. A BFP and then to have it turn out this way. Sorry. Thankfully you'll be able to go ahead with an FET this summer. Keep that positive attitude. It makes a difference!

I've missed many...know I'm thinking of you all!

AFM, I'm on day 2 of estrogen pills. I'm just "thickening" as we speak!! I do not envy all of you stimming. This FET protocol as been SO MUCH easier than the original IVF. I'm thankful that I had 7 frosties left to work with. I continue with the estrogen pills for another week and then I have an U/S to check the lining. As long as it looks OK, I should be on course for my 4/2 FET.

I'm getting so excited I simply can't stand it! Everybody at school (colleagues and students alike) are so anxious for spring break. I'm anxious for a totally different reason. I'm not going on any big cruise or anything...just a trip to the clinic! This secret is killing me, but it will be SO worth it if I'll be able to tell my mom "the normal way" that I'm pregnant again. I have dreams of my son walking into my parents' house with an "I'm going to be a big brother" t-shirt on!!

My big question/decision is whether or not I'm going to POAS before my beta. I've been reading all of the discussion on here, but I'm still left trying to decide. My DH seems against right now. Who knows what he'll think when we're in the 2WW. (Remember, it wasn't a question for me the first time, because I was thrown in the hospital right away for OHSS.)

I've gotta get to my American Idol results! Have a great night everyone!

Hello Ladies,

Thanks to all of you for your support and kind wishes. I had my ET yesterday and it went fine. It was less painful than the uterine sounding test that I had.. Maybe it was because I had a full bladder and was concentrating on that! I got to see my little embies on the video screen before the transfer. They also gave me a photo which is pretty cool. We transferred 2 and froze 5 (that grew one extra day). Now I just have to wait until th 27th. I keep thinking that I'm feeling the tugging on my uterus that people say they feel when the embryo is embedding. I am sure it is too soon for that. Every little bit of cramping, gas or other typoe of air that I feel at this point makes me stop and wonder!! Anyways, I don't think I'll torture myself with the HPT. I would rather just try to wait it out...Until next time!!

Hey guys - AF started Tuesday, making today my first day on the pill. I'm waiting for the clinic to mail my schedule (yeah - I don't need that showing up on the office fax machine...) so hopefully that will be in the mailbox when I get home this afternoon. I'm also waiting on the mail-order pharmacy to call me back about my prescriptions.

Does anyone have any recommendations on good IVF books? I know there is a lot of info on the internet and we got a lot from the clinic but I'm still wondering if there might be some good books out there on going through the process.

For those of you who are working full-time, how much work have you ended up missing?

Sarah, @ the PIO shots, next time just lie to me and say it's not so bad ok? I"m sooo not looking forward to them. My paper says to take the shots for 10 weeks. I'm hoping it really means until 10 weeks of pregnancy. Right now I inject the Lupron into my abdomen and thighs. Well with my thighs I've noticed sometimes it's more painful than others. It's as if my skin is tougher in some spots. Maybe from all the shots? Has anyone else experienced this?? I hardly feel a thing in my abdomen but I didn't want to do them all there.

stats, I work full-time and I'm trying to miss as few days as possible! If things go well I want to save as much time for my maternity leave as I can. I get 6 weeks and the rest would fall on my vacation days :( I plan to miss 2 days for ER/ET and that's it. If I don't feel well after either then I can use sick leave which is seperate and unlimited. I couldn't stand to be off any time during the 2ww. I'd go nuts just waiting! :P

lione, yaay! you have little embabies! :D Sticky dust to you!! Yeah, so how did that full bladder thing go?? Do they tell you how soon to drink something? I'd hate to drink 16 oz of water and hour before and be expected to hold it, yikes! My comedian husband tells me that I'll be so doped up that if I peed on them, I wouldn't remember it anyway  But I'm sure he'd give me the full recap once I came to my senses

I experienced no back pain last night or this morning!! yay! Maybe RE shifted something around during my u/s yesterday  Anyway, just looking forward to my next appt tomorrow morning. Have a good day ladies!

statsgoddess- even though I am not much of a reader, there is one book I read cover to cover pretty quickly while I was going through this process, skipping just a couple sections that didn't apply to me. It was easy to understand and the first time I went to RE's office, I actually saw this book in one of the consult rooms on their bookshelf, so I know it must be highly regarded. It also got decent reviews on amazon. It is called "In-Vitro Fertilization: The A.R.T. of making babies." There are a couple of other books that reviewed well on amazon, but I have not read them personally.

Here is the link to the one I am talking about.

Estrellita and Latie- Welcome to our thread. You have found a good home. If you give me all of the dates for your cycles, I can add you to our thread tracker so everyone knows what your doing and when.

babyluv- how exciting, you start stims tomorrow! We are all praying this works for you this time and will answer any questions we can for you.

stats- I forgot to talk about time off from work when I posted to you about the book. My first cycle I was ablt to not take very much time off. I was able to take days if I wanted, but without pay, so I tried to miss as few as possible. I took one for ER (a tuesday) and one for ET (a friday) and b/c ET was on a friday, I had 2 days after to relax. If It had not been a friday, I probably would have wanted the next day to relax. During stimming I was able to do all my u/s and bw before work so I didn't need to take time.

lionoe- Yay- You are officially in the 2ww. I have read that implantation after a blast transfer happens in about 2-3 days. Analyzing every little twinge is completely normal, just try not to drive yourself nutty.

sbr- april 2 is right around the corner. Whether or not to poas is a hard decision, and it will come to you during the 2ww, if you want to you will, if not, we will all support you and help you hold out until beta. Did yoou watch idol results? Do you watch other reality tv? I have a thread over in the general forum dedicated to reality tv for anyone who wants to chat about it and get a break from the ivf stuff. It started as the bachelor thread, but now has evolved to all reality tv, so come and chat with us and share your opinions, even if it is only about idols. That goes for everyone else too!

I thought about the t-shirt thing last night after I read it, how awesome would it be to put a t-shirt on Ella that says I am going to be a big sister and have people found out that way...that would be awesome!

latino- that would be great if you could donate cord blood to try and help your mom. I really hope this works for you, we will be praying for you and your family.

cymplicity- glad to hear no back pain last night, hopefully it stays that way. Keep on stimming, your getting close now!

afm- not much of an update. I have had some light bleeding the past couple days which I think is from the surgery last week. Af is due in a couple days, so hopefully she comes and then I will start bcp's. I am taking Ella for her 6 month appt today (even though she is actually 6 mo and 3 wks) and she will get shots. She will probably be cranky the rest of the day, but I actually won't be around for much of it, dh will have to deal with it. I have tutoring this afternoon an dthen I have to go to class toniught for midterm check up on our field projects...ugh..so I will try and check in if I can, but I might be pretty busy today, so I might have to play catch up tomorrow. I will talk to you all soon.

There are different rules for different medications, most are ok out of the frdge until opened for the first time EXCEPT for your trigger medication (ovidril).

Good luck!
