I am so happy about your progress and 10 is a great number, you really don't want too many. Next is to pray for them all to be fertilized so that you will not only have enough to transfer and but also some for frozen! All you need now is to trust your RE (she sounds very nice and knows what she is doing!) and let her do her job well - I am never a relaxed person either, but I am always very hopeful. I am very optimistic for your outcome too! My positive thoughts are with you.

Yasmina: Yes, the frozen cycle seems like a piece of cake as compared to a fresh cycle. DH and I are going to wait for the frozen cycle and not try to get pregnant naturally as we did with Andrew. My frozen eggs are 2.5 years younger than my current eggs, so the genetic risks should be less.
It looks like the risk of downs syndrome doubles from 42 to 44.5 (my current age). I sure hope that I am as lucky with frozen cycles as you.
Rhonda: Great news about your follies. Don't be surprised if your RE finds more than 10 eggs during retrieval. That happened to me, as 1 or 2 follies were hiding and 12 eggs were retrieved instead of 10 or 11 that were expected.

Hi everyone,
My retrieval was this morning. I had 10 follies and they retrieved 7 good eggs. I will have my transfer saturday. they will call me in the morning and let me know how many fertilized. I sure hope it will be at least one. I would pray for more. When I woke up from the retrieval, I started crying. I have no idea why. The tears were coming from no where. The nurse said alot of people do that. Kinda weird. I feel pretty good right now. I took a pain pill and slept. I dont take pain meds, but my RE insisted that i take it for today. I guess the rest did me good. There was another rhonda in the room beside me that went in before me. I kept telling them not to get us mixed up. lol. I probably even said it as i was sliding into sleep land. ha ha.
Yasmina, thanks for the encouragement. I hope 7 will be ok. It would be a miracle to have a couple fertilize. Hope you are doing well.
take care all.

Rhonda-wonderful news, sending lots of PMA and babydust.
Tammy-wishing you and DH success. I'll be thinking of ya'll.
Yasmina-how are you holding up?
All is well here. DD, Aislin, lost quite a bit of weight in her first week of life. We've been having to go in for weigh-ins to try to slow the rate of mass loss. What a roller coaster. Yesterday she finally turned the corner with some mass gain. Yippee! I will try to get pix up soon.
You will have at least 5 fertilized well, if not more, trust me. If having twins is not a problem for you, ask your RE transfer as many as she feel comfortable to have your a live baby. That is important at our age, we can never bet on just one embryo! Given your good response and good history, getting pg and carry to term is very hopeful, and we are here for you!
Tammy,
Yes, frozen cycle is really easy except for me, the length of each cycle is the same, I always had to take 21 days of BCP which is painfully long! So each cycle for me is two months, instead of one. Many other clinics however, don't need to have women to do such a long suppression time. But my two last cycles gave me babies, that was worth of it.
At my egg age (43), downs is 1/32, this means we will have 96.9% to have a healthy baby. But after first trimester screening, this dropped to 1/400, to me, this means we will have 99.8% chance to have a a health baby. See, I am optimistic and I tend to think this way. So, I won't give up trying naturally if I were you. Of course, I wish your frozen cycle already works so that you won't have to anymore after that! Assuming you will stop at two!
Catharine,
Sorry for the baby weight loss, apparently, it is common in the first week. I was also very sad knowing our DD lost 15 oz ob her body mass in the first 3 days! Glad to know that Aislin starts to gain back her weight and I am sure she will be thriving!
Will go to see ob soon and update will follow.
More later, take care, everyone!

well the verdict is in. I just got the call from the RE. Three of the 7 eggs fertilized. I was so affraid none would. So three is good i guess. Am I being too optimistic. They said the others were not mature enough. My transfer is a three day transfer. they used icis. where they put the sperm in the eggs. I am just so worried. Do you think three is an ok number to put back in. The RE will put all three given my age. I am so nervous. Well saturday will be the big day. Wishing you all luck. Thanks for being here for me. you guys are my life line.

Rhonda-I think 3 is fine. This is a common practice for the advanced maternal age group. Keep the PMA thriving. Sending lots and lots of babydust your way.
Some clinics mature the eggs in petri dishes and then fertilize them once they become mature. I wonder whether your clinic does that? I would certainly transfer all three back if they all divide normally.
Best luck on Sat!

So happy to see your little precious! She looks comfortable! I cannot believe she has already known how to suck her fingers and opened her eyes completely! I am also surprised to see her in her own beautiful cloths in her hospital plastic tray (sorry, I did not know the name of this thing.) Our nurses always removed the dresses that we put on our DD at hospital and replaced them with the ugly hospital oneties. Her crib bedding is beautiful, BTW!
enjoy and kiss her for us!

What an adorable little girl you have!! I am secretly hoping for a girl this time, if we get so lucky as to have another baby. However, there would be advantages to having another baby boy. I have kept all of Andrew's clothing so I would be set with "boy stuff".
Yasmina:
I go to my RE on Monday afternoon for an exam and the prescriptions for my FET cycle. I am excited to proceed.
Regards,
Tammy
