Lisa and Ems, congrats on your BFPs and try to hang in there - waiting is a killer... I was supposed to wait until my 7 week scan (next week) but just couldn't (I did, though, have pains on the side of my abdomen so going in early wasn't just for nerves) so went in earlier to get a confirmation of a uterine pregnancy. That helped but I'd be lying if I didn't admit I'm still super nervous about next week :)

missmolly, that's wonderful news, I'm very happy for you!

Lisa and Emma..Congrats. The waiting for the scan seems so much more of a challenge to be than the 2WW. This whole process is exhausting...Wait Wait Wait...Hang in there. There are a lot of us in this Oct group. Its great to have others in our boat. Congrats again.

Lisa & Emma I totally understand what you are going through. I was worried sick b/4 my 1st scan. I did not want to get myself too excited just in case things did not turn out. Try to relax and enjoy the fact that it was NOT a BFN - you are both pregnant!!!!!

Let me tell you a little story about my first scan. My clinic does very early scans and I seriously wish they didn't. Last week I had my first one done at 5 weeks 2 days. The Dr. who did my scan acted funny. She saw a gestational sac, but it was really tiny. She then quickly said, hopefully your bloodwork is fine, if not the nurse will call you, see you next week. It left me with a very bad feeling, she acted very strange. I couldn't shake the feeling, 2 days later, right before I left for what was supposed to be a nice overnight trip to Atlantic City. She caled me on the way down and said she was concerned about my pregnancy, has a "gut feeling" that day and told me my beta was lower than she would like to see and that ther was a sac but it was very tiny. She told me this pregnancy could go either way and we would know more next week.

Basically I cried on the 2 and a half hr drive to Atlantic City. My DH even cried and he does not cry. The trip was miserable. To make myself feel better, I went in for an additional beta on tuesday and my numbers went up very nicely. I had my 6 weeks 2 day scan yesterday, and my actual Dr. did it. She saw a very nice sac with a yolk sac and a HB. She even et me listen to i which she said she doesnt try until the following week, but we heard a nice strong HB at 115 BPM! She said everything was exactly where it should be.

Moral of the story: Early untrasounds kind of suck. They scare you sometimes. 6 weeks is early enough. When they can see really signifcant things is when they should do their first U/S. Good luck to all of you on your first U/S, I hope you see wonderful things!

Bonita~ After that story I'm pretty happy I have to wait until 7 weeks. Sorry your Atlantic City trip was a bummer because of it. It's easier to be anxious than grief stricken over a loss that didn't even happen! Glad everything is going well now! Happy PG!

Bonita, you're so right, early u/s can really suck! And you always end up having to go for another scan anyway. So, unless there is a good reason to go in early (and the main reason would be to exclude an ectopic if there's reason to suspect one - that's why I went in and I'm super glad that I did, I would have gone crazy with the fear), it's always better to wait.

So sorry to hear about your dreadful experience. I'm glad everything turned out well!

Bonita,

What an awful thing to put you through. My first scan is at 8 weeks because my clinic says mistakes like yours happen all the time. They will not scan earlier unless there is a suspected ectopic.

Glad it worked out for you. Congratulations mummy on seeing your beanies hb.

I started having some bleeding yesterday.... I cannot tell you how sad and discouraged I feel right now - I had finally started believing in this pregnancy a little bit and thinking that everything just might turn out OK this time - and now this. I'm in a pretty dark place right now

And yes, of course I know that many women have bleeding in their first trimester and go on to have healthy, full-term pregnancies. But I've been down this road before and while that time I found some encouragement in the statistics, today they are of no comfort. If I miscarry again, I'd rather get it over with than drag on with periods of bleeding and days of hope in between, like the last time.

Sorry guys, very morbid, just had to get this out of my system. Hope you are all doing well.

Rae,

I hope to god it is not an impending miscarriage. Like you I have been there before and totally understand your fear. I don't think anyone will ever understand how horrific it is unless they've had it happen to them.

I will pray for you sweetie that it is not going wrong. Keeping you in my prayers.

Rae - I am so sorry to hear about your bleeding. Are you going in to see your Dr about it? I know of plenty of women who bleed, but don't miscarry - I know you already know this, but try and hang onto that thought. Please keep us updated. We are all hear for you if you need to chat.

Missmolly, thank you for your kind words!!

As it happens, I had an u/s appointment already scheduled with my RE for tomorrow, so I decided not to call anyone about this but instead talk about it with him when I see him. We'll take a look tomorrow, scary. I know that at this point there's absolutely nothing they can do and since I'm not bleeding heavily and am only 6+5 weeks along, I felt no urgency to go anywhere with this. Of course my head is in turmoil... I am so hoping that we'll see a good-size baby & HB tomorrow :( But even if we do, the worrying won't end there - the las time I miscarried I had bleeding on and off for weeks and all the while got positive scans - growing baby, good HB - and it still ended in tears. So I really have no trust in anything right now.

It's so good to have a forum for these thoughts and fears....

Have a great week everyone!
