Cocosmomma: Why yes I am a Husker fan, diehard one if you ask my wife. lol Thanks for the response I'll let her know that others have the same issues and I'm sure she'll calm down. I already told my wife that both our kids are leaving the hospital in Husker clothes. She doesn't care as she has come to enjoy the Huskers as well. GO BIG RED!

Bigrediowan- I wouldn't worry about not gaining any weight in the first trimester my last pregnancy I only gained 2 pounds in the first 14 weeks this one I have gained 14 pounds in the last 13 weeks, because of All day sickness the only thing that I could stomach was food that is really bad for me (mcdonalds cheeseburgers, potatoes of any kind, canned ravoli) Things that I normally don't eat very often. There fore along with have no energy to do ANYTHING it has made me put on more weight, I am glad I am starting to feel better so that I can maybe eat bettter and exercise more.

Hi Ladies,

I have been reading your posts, but have been to afraid to post myself until I went to my 12 week appointment. Well yesterday was my appointment and everything looks great. According to the measurements from yesterday I am actually 13 weeks today but they still kept my due date as August 31. I just wanted to hop on and say Hi - some of you I know from the Oct/Nov/Dec board.

KAS I have been following your situation and good luck to you with the decision that you and DH are facing. It has got to be a real hard time for the two of you right now. You are in my prayers.

Hi all, Glad to see all the good progress. I cancelled my nuchal test this week since my OB said it's not really indicated for my age. So far so good for me, I started telling more people, and I'm really starting to believe this will work out for us this time. I've found a way around the infrequent doctor visits. My husband works at a hospital so we have access to the ultrasound machine. An OB resident showed him how to use it, so we ultrasounded for about half an hour twice already - I can't get enough!! The baby is doing well, moving so much, it's amazing that you can see all the fingers/toes/elbows so clearly this early. I think we'll be going back once a week at least. I flew this past weekend, but forgot my needle tips for the PIO shot, so am still bruised from the 22 gauge - ouch!! Hopefully my OB will have me stop the shots at my next appointment - I'll be 14 weeks by then. Hope everyone has a great week.

Hey everyone,

Well my wife just called me here at work and was kinda upset because she lost another pound. I can't seem to get her to calm down about the situation? We go back to the doctor on Tuesday for our 3rd ultrasound, she'll be about 13 weeks 3 days, and I guess I don't know what to tell her. We are barely out of the first trimester, but she is still feeling sick. I told her she may not have a choice, but to try and force herself to eat even though she doesn't feel like it. I just don't understand where she is coming from obviously. Now she has me worried damnit! :(

Nuchel lucency test Results HELP!

Post by hope33 »

I everyone just got a call from my dr about my test resluts and she told me that my test came back positive on the bloodwork. My blood work came back 1/24 chances of having downs syndrome and that the normal range fro my age is 1/266. She did say that the sonogram came back within the normal range which is anything under 3 and mine came in at 2.2. so she told me the next step is to either do a CVS test which has to be done within the next couple of days or wait another month and do the amnio. with the CVS test there is more of a higher false positive and a higher rate of miscarriage 1/100 vs the amnio which is 1/350. i really need to know if anyone has any insight in this and for any advice. My heart is broken right now after everything we have gone through to get pregnant. i am really numb........

Hope33- I am sorry that the OB has you so worried, but I have done alot of internet research on this because of my age and what the research says is that of the NT results that come back postive really only 5% of those have downs syndrome. Pull it up on the internet and it really will ease your mind to see how many sites explain this.

Keep us posted.

thanks brenda for the post
, i went to my Dr today to discuss this and we all came to an agreement that we will not do the CVS testing but wait another month to do the amnio. we will also do another blood test and anther U/S to determine if the risk factor has changed. I also mentioned to her if the results took into account that the embryo was concived 5 years ago when i was 30 and the egg and sperm were from the IVF cycle that i did back in 'O4. She said that the test did not take this into consideration and she would have the lab rework the numbers to reflect this and to see what my risk factor would be then. That is another big hope that the risk goes down based on this information. I just don't understand why they wouldn't take this into consideration from the begining since i told them the . I can only hope it makes a big difference and that the results will change to my favor. Deep down inside i don't think there is anything wrong but i do have to be sure though....

BIGREDIOWAN- how is your wife? Is her weight in the normal range, or she underweight to begin with? I have only gained 3 pounds so far but i need to eat when i feel nauseas becasue it is the only thing that makes me feel better very small snacks very very often. I find to tolerate pretzels very well and seems to settle my stomach. Has she tried a B6 vitamin to help with the nausea and the wrist bands that supposed to help? I hope she is feeling better soon :)

will post again after my visit with the Dr on Friday.

Hope you all are well.

Hope: I was going to post an update today anyways, but thanks for asking about my wife. We went back to the doctor yesterday and the doctor wasn't worried about her weight at all. He said that what she is going through is very normal and that the babies are small enough that they are still getting the nutrients they need right now. Both babies measured great and had great heartrates, one was 148 and the other was 150. They took a guess at the genders as it's still a little early to be sure, but it looks like both of them are going to be boys. My wife gave me the evil eye when I laughed out loud.

We we're kinda forced to do genetic type testing since we really wanted an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. We weren't happy about this because we didn't want to know one way or another. However, everything checked out normal and they look to be in great shape right now. With twins I guess they can't do the bloodwork as the results are skewed from two of them. They just did a check and measured several things in the ultrasound and everything is normal.

Hope: I wouldn't read into those numbers too much as I've known several people who have had higher than normal probabilities and everything turned out fine. This is why I didn't want to do this with our twins because it would just cause further worry for my wife and I. IVF women go through enough stuff and worry to put themselves through more. You ladies have a special place in my heart and deserve better than what you're put through sometimes. While we, men, go through it with you, we don't have to do the same things you do.

Hi everyone. It's been a while since anyone posted so I wanted to try and keep this thread going! Are there any new updates out there? I am so excited to have finally hit my second tri. I have an appointment with my ob on Monday and then have another u/s on the 18th. They said it was possible to maybe tell the sex by then (I'll be 16 weeks). I really hope they can. I am dying to find out what we're having!

Hi Annie, I was wondering when someone else was going to post. I am so happy to be in my second trimester also. The last ultrasound I had showed that the baby measured ahead so it would be measuring at 15 weeks today. I dont go back to the doctor until the 17th and I dont know if he will do an ultrasound or not. He told us that he does the anatomy scan when he does a complete scan at 20 weeks. I hope he will do one on the 17th so maybe we can find out then. I would be happy with either a boy or girl, but it would sure be nice to know what we are expecting. I am sure glad that the morning/evening sickness is gone, now I only feel tired earlier then usual but besides that I feel great.
