Hi Everyone!

I'd like to join all you Sept. cycle buddies if I'm not too late! I have an appt. on the 8th and will probably start with US and bloodwork on the 10th. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Hi Christine and welcome. You're definitely not too late! In fact we're only just getting started now.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing all about your treatment as we get into September. It's always interesting to hear about the different approaches taken in different locations. The board is mostly British but there are quite a few Americans now plus a smaller number of continental Europeans plus a couple of Aussies! Feel free to post questions/or anything in fact, that's what this board is good at!

hugs
Debra.

Sept/October

Post by Pam »

Hi,

This is my first attempt at IVF. I started taking the spray at the beginning of August but it hasn't worked as expected. The have increased the number of sprays I take each day but the delay has meant I missed the date I was supposed to start the injections but I'm still hopeful that the spray will now work and I'll be a sept/oct buddy. Does anyone know if this is this normal? I am concerned that the lack of responsiveness to the spray is an indication that the injections will not work.

Also the Nurse said that as I am on the very high treatment cycle that if this does result in eggs that there is no where else to go. Is this correct? (sorry I don't understand all the terminology/abreviations yet)

Can anyone recommend anything I can do to help things along?

I would really appreciate any suggestions you guys could make.

Thanks

Pam

Hi Pam,
I am in a similar situation, I started my spray on the 14th August and had my basal scan on Tuesday this week and I wasn't as far advanced as they thought I would be plus I have two cysts which have appeared! I am doing my first Egg Donor IVF so my treatment will be different to yours. I don't have any suggestions I am afraid, they just told me to continue for an extra week on the same three sprays a day. I have an extra scan next week to check how I am progressing. Try not to worry Pam and take care.
All the best Jill xx

Hi Girls!

Debra - thanks for the welcome! I still can't believe it really!! Just got to work around that we are going to be staying in a cottage in Cornwall with my in-laws on the day I start sniffing and we've decided not to tell anyone this time! But I was having lunch with my mum yesterday and already been rubbish and let the cat out of the bag - but only to my mum! Have to get around the not drinking wine thing without them suspecting!!! But that's a minor detail really! Have you got a scan today?? Hope it's all going really well...Good Luck!
DeeDee - are you cycling too this month? Sorry I need to catch up I am being v.slack! Hope you are ok!
How is everyone else getting on? Welcome to Sally, Christine and Pam - good luck to you all! Pam, not sure if this well help in any way, but the only thing I knew about that works against down regging can sometimes be exercise? But the clinics seem to really vary on this theory, mine say take it really easy and also in the Zita West book it says to allow your body to shut down with the meds... Are you doing any exercise or extra busy or anything? Keeping my fingers crossed for you..
Jill - Good luck with your scan next week - hope everything is moving along for you too...
And hi to everyone else too!

Hi....the scan went well this morning. A reading of 6.7mm was enough to have booked ET for Tuesday 11am.

Pam, I like to exercise during down-regging but then stop at EC/ET. I tend to do no gym exercise during the 2ww although my clinic say it's fine to carry on with what ever is normal exercise, if you run everyday, carry on but don't take up anything new.

Kel - where in Cornwall are you off to? My Mum is Cornish and we lived in Plymouth for a couple of years when I was 10. A lovely part of the world! When do you leave for NZ?

Hi to everyone else. Big plans for the weekend? Any key apts. for next week? Tell all please!

hugs
Debra.

Hi Jill,

Thanks for the encouragement. The hospital said this de-regging can sometimes take longer that planned but I thought they were trying to make me feel better !!! All the bad news until now has made you paranoid that everything that can go wrong will go wrong but I'm going to try to be very possitive during this.

It's good to find someone else at a similar stage keep me posted on how you are getting on. I feel like such a novice at this, it takes me ages to work out the abbreviations but I'm get there.

I am due at the clinic on Sunday for another blood test and hopefully if successful they will be able to reschedule my injections and EC.

Take Care,

Hi..

Susan, sorry you won't be a SCB but I know an October buddies board already exists! It might be on P2 but is definitely there!

Pam. Way to go that your clinic work on a Sunday. Good luck with the test. Let us know what they say and your new dates. Just ask about any abbreviations!

Hi Kel/DebraP

Thanks for the tips.

I'm not doing any extra exercise but my house has NEVER been cleaner ! DH is delighted I am turning into a domestic godess (it won't last)

If you think more exercise will help I'll give it a go - it can't hurt. I'll try that book too I noticed a couple of different people suggesting it.

Some people have suggested reflexology - any idea if this helps?

Good luck over the next couple of weeks.

Hi Pam, re. reflexology. I hope someone who has tried it answers with something more helpful than the answer I'm about to give.....I think lots of people on here have had reflexology but I've a nagging thought that you should check with your clinic. I seem to remember (see...this is a hopeless, wooly reply) that it can be good in preparation, and really good for relaxation but not advisable during tmt, and that people have been told to stop as soon as tmt begins.

As I said, hopefully a more clued in person will reply  It's certainly a question that's been raised before. If you've patience, you could scroll back a few months and check the older message titles. You're very likely to find it there.

Hth (hope this helps)

Hi Pam,
I have had my first of three hypnotherapy sessions. The counselor at my hospital does sessions and it is free!!! I enjoyed it and found it very relaxing, she sent me away with a tape to use as often as I like at home. May be worth asking if your hospital offers anything like it. Good luck on Sunday at the hospital and let me know how you get on. Take care everyone love Jill x

Hello! 8)

Gorgeous day at last!! How is everyone getting on?
Debra - That is FAB news!! ET planned for Tuesday!! Really pleased for you.. How are you feeling? Well, we are off to Port Scathoe (spelling??) in Cornwall? My in-laws have hired a cottage so I'm really looking forward to it! I've done loads of gigs in Plymouth - really like it there but it's a long drive from mine....! As for NZ, not sure if I can go now as my EC+Et dates will be around then, but this comes first and there will be plenty of other chances to go, I don't want to postpone this no way!
Pam - I'm really sorry I just read my message and I wasn't very clear, I actually meant doing no exercise at all! I'm not sure if that will help but my nurse says you need to slow down while your body is shutting down in down regging. As for reflexology, my friend does it and apparently it's not a good idea while having treatment as reflexology works on your nervous system to repair parts of your body, and so while having the ivf meds, reflexology can fight against them. Hope you are ok though and going well!
Susan - I don't actually start down regging until the 20th September, so I will definately be well into October when it's all happening so I'll be joining you!
Jill - Hypnotherapy sounds really interesting! Great that you are getting that from your hospital too..
Hi to everyone else!
