Hi everyone,

Alette - Glad to hear your EC went okay, - sorry to hear it was painful though. I presume you opted for the sedative, not general anaesthetic. I hope it works for you, what a lovely Christmas present it would be. Fingers crossed !

Dolly - Hormones eh! Aren't they a pain! You'll soon be on the other side of it all, Good luck with EC.

Sand - where are you up to at the moment?

Take care everyone,
claire x

Hi there!

Pandora (what a long nick you have!) welcome to the group!!

Sand, you are right, I am only using the computer at work. After EC I was free! Took it easy!

Dolly and Wendy, you are a funny couple, crying all the time...
it's the hormons, yeah, I know, this is what I hate the most... these swings in moods.
Dolly 10 follies is a good number!
You know, I had the same with my sister, her second though, not her third.
She told me: it was a complete surprise to find out that I am pregnant again.
I told her not to **** then.
(sorry for my language but I was not really sorry and fortunately she laughed about it).

Edi - no word from you yet (same case? only internet at work?) I hope you were okay and that you have a good number!!

When I had the EC on saturday I almost could not stop laughing.

I was laying there, legs up, husband left, nurse right, docter in the middle and the girl from the labatory left in the middle and everywhere I looked I saw smiling faces.
I looked at my husband and he smiled, I looked at the nurse and she smiled and winked, the docter smiled and this girl too. And then I looked on my left and I saw my husband smiling and then the nurse again.
It was like an sentimentel American movie (sorry Americans) and I could not stop my self from laughing!!!!!!.

By the way, are you also afraid of farting? I am not a windy person but when I lay there I really am afraid I may blow some....

(fort. it didn't happen)...

Hi everyone,
I'm back online. Thanks for all of your good wishes
Had EC on Wednesday and they got 16 eggs. I wasn't altogether surprised at that I've had pretty large crops before. What I was nervous about was the next phase. I was nearly blown away to hear that 14 had fertilised. Previously it has been less than half. And this morning 12 have gone on to the next stage.
So the clinic reckons that we are on course for a 5 day transfer on Monday - fingers crossed.

I'm back at work today. I started to get bored and a bit lonely at home. So since I felt well I decided I might as well go in. Last time I did EC I was in agony afterwards, I could hardly stand upright for 3 days but this time a couple of paracetemol on the first day and I was fine.

Dolly
Yes I did get mixed up in my alphabet soup. I actually meant PESA not ICSI. Good luck for the scan today, hope those follies are growing and that you get the go-ahead for EC next week.

Pandora
Looks like you and I will be transferring on the same day. Does that mean you are doing EC today or tomorrow?

Alette,
I laughed when I read your post about the gathered asssembly smiling down at you. I'd say you even made Dolly and Wendy laugh
So are you on 2ww now?

Thank you all for your support, it has made an enormous difference to me.

Hugs

Edi, what a lot of eggs!!!

I never heard anybody having so many!
You were not in a risk of overstimulating?? I once had 12 and this was almost a reason to stop the cycle!

Well 12 to the next stage... that is a good number!

I always hate this part... from EC to transfer... there is nothing you can do but wait....

Are you feeling okay?
Did they hurt you a lot?
Or did you have narcoses?

I always ask for the half of sedation.
Actually I would like to have it without sedation but they assured me it would be too painful. This sedation knocks me down, makes me lose my control (not that I am a controlfreak, I just do not want to cry all the time!)

Well our fingers will be crossed!! ET on Monay you think???
also 5 days ha? same with me.
Why do they do that do you think?
You hear about 4 days, sometimes 3....
Does anybody know the reason??
I started 21st of November... who wants to join me??
Hi Alette,

I'm new to the boards, in fact any boards, so still trying to understand the codes you use. Can I join your group?

I've just finished my first IVF cycle and just over half way through the 2ww. Results are due on 15th December. I didn't discover this website until earlier this week, when I was feeling really bloated and in a lot of pain, and I found that everyones replies were really helpful. I've found reading the stories about so many people so amazing it has really helped me to know that I'm not alone anymore. I had an accupuncture appointment on Tuesday (supposed to help remove the toxins and increase blood flow, which is needed because of the severe endo). I also went to the Osteopath and she said a lot of my pain was due to my Coccyx being accidently pushed into my pelvis a bit. I had a car accident many years ago and my pelvis is quite flexible. So it sounds like the combination of the HCG & ET may have casued it. But, hopefully it will all settle down now.

6 more restless nights to go, and today feeling a bit sick, usual loss of appetite and bloated belly prior to period. I keep having lots of nightmares is this usual for IVF treatment?

How are getting on with your latest cycle, any news? Have you heard how Orla is getting along as I understand that her test is due on the 17th Dec?

Wendy Thanks for your help.

Wishing you all the very best of Luck.

Hi Lindy!

Welcome to the group!!

Nice that you discovered this site!
Like you I was (sometimes still are, because I am Dutch) confused about all the terms and abbreviations... (but there is an item about abbreviations with explanation!)

15th of December already!! nervwrecking isn't it?!

All the signs you say could be pointing to pregnancy but nightmares?
I don't know.... maybe somebody knows about nightmares?
Maybe it is the stress of waiting?

Hope you find all the information you want! And keep us informed ha!!

Hi Girls,

Lindy and Pandora, welcome to our little gang. Lindy, not long to go for you... my fingers are crossed for next week.

Edi, that is a fantastic amount of eggs and an excellent fertilisation rate. Good luck for your EC on Monday.

Alette, I have a day 3 transfer - I think if you get a good amount of embryos some clinics will do a 5 day transfer - but it is risky if you don't get so many because not all of them will make is to blastocyst stage and you could end up losing them all.

I had my scan this morning - they think EC will be on Tuesday - but I am just waiting on confirmation from the clinic.

Love to all

Hi again,

Not doing much work today that's for sure, far better to be hanging out with my board buddies :)

Alette
They recommend blastocyst for people who have had several previous failed IVF cycles - like me. Apparently the idea is that if the embyros can survive in the lab until day 5 then they have a better chance of surviving once they go back. In fact they say that success with blastocyst is around 50%. The risk is waiting til day 5 as the number of embies reduces day by day. In fact it's torture waiting every day to hear whether they have to call you in unexpectedly because they're not sure whether the embies will survive the day and when in doubt they are better off inside you than sitting in a lab.

Linda
Half way there now. The pains could be a good sign. Hopefully it's your body adjusting to new circumstances. You're very brave to be doing acupuncture. I had it done once but I couldn't bear it. I have a bit of reiki healing done which is far more my style.

Hi Girls,

Having a really bad day today. Was really positive over the weekend even keeping dh smiling and focused on the positives. Was all set to have ET this afternoon but got a call this morning from the clinic to say that 7 possibly 8 embies had arrested and the others hadn't moved on enough from Saturday for them to be confident that they could go through with transfer today. :(

They were clearly disappointed too as things had been looking good on Saturday. The last chance is that one or two make it overnight and they can do the transfer tomorrow day 6 - eek. It is not unheard of but it isn't very usual to do a day 6 transfer as it's the very last possible day. After that the embie should be attaching itself so there's no point in it beig in a lab.

Feeling really miserable even though I know I should stay positive in the hope that things will go OK tomorrow but I need to stop sobbing first.

Hope everyone else is well,

Edi

oh Edi, what a nightmare.
the worst possible scenario happened to you....
this is where everybody is afraid of...

there is only only a little hope left now, isn't it.
I am so sorry for you.
You could not come today... ? Probably not, ha, they would have suggested it..

Big hug of comfort for you from me, I do not know what to say more...

Edi, so sorry to read what happened today. That really is the worst nightmare.

Fingers crosssed there is at least one little fighter and you can go ahead with ET tomorrow.

Thinking of you and sending you the biggest hug.
